August 1st Challenge!
 
Good morning everyone! :coffee:

Time for another challenge to get ourselves moving - the date is August 1st. :sunny:

This gives us roughly 7 weeks to reach our mini goals if we all start on June 14th. This will also give us the rest of this week to organize our food plans, grocery shop and get an exercise program set up.

Well, here I go! :D

Current weight: 161.5
Mini goal: 5lbs
Plan:
-keep a daily food journal
-drink 64 ounces of water each day
-plan my menus in advance
-eat better on the weekends
-exercise every day for at least 30 minutes
-work to reduce some of the stress in my life
( I am a stress eater)


My reward: a manicure and a pedicure at a local salon :cloud9:

Your August mini goal: 5lbs
(I'm revising this a little. I want to lose 5lbs by my birthday July 8th, then the next 5 by August 1st)
Your plan of action to reach that goal:
--Increase exercise from 3 days to 4 and eventually 5
--Learn to eat better in the evenings and the weekends
--Give up sodas once and for all!
--Reduce my sugar intake even more

Hi y'all, I was in a Canada Day Challenge, but I accomplished my goal for that (July 1st) this week and last night decided to set August 1st as my next goal day, so this is perfect. Here is my info:

Current weight: 196

August mini goal: 185 :crossed:

Plan of action to reach that goal: Gym 4-6x a week, Water Aerobics 1x a week, Pilates 2-3x a week, 90+ oz of water a day, More salads at dinner, Continue to keep my calories at about 1200 per day :strong: :workout:

Your reward for reaching that goal: Day trip to Nantucket with my Tim :D

I'm in! This will really help me get the last few pounds of fat off, I hope.

Your current weight:
164. It actually wobbles from 163 to 166. Usually it will do that for about 10 days to 2 weeks before I lose another pound that I feel I can post.

Your August mini goal:
39" hips, 31" waist. At this point, it's not about the pounds, it's all about body fat percentages. I'm at the point where I can't diet "hard" because I will lose 1 pound of muscle for every 1.75 pounds of fat. Not good. It's also important to get the abdominal fat down, because it's "dangerous" fat. Too bad it can't migrate up to my chest.

Your plan of action to reach that goal:
Expunge all remaining traces of sugar from the diet.
Eat organic whenever possible.
Lower saturated fat content.
Eat more frequently (eating 6 times a day is hard, I'm just not that hungry.)
Gait analysis/running orthotics to help me jog better.
More sit ups (ugh!)

Your reward for reaching that goal:
Size 10 jeans. I tried the low-rise at size 14, but I got "plumber's butt." Jeez, nobody told me you moon the whole world in those things!

Hello everyone! This is my first challenge and I'm going to make it a kind of simple one because I have some temporary setbacks.

Your current weight: yesterday, it was 194; today it's 198...I think my scale is out of whack because I didn't binge yesterday.

Your August mini goal: lose 5 lbs.

Your plan of action to reach that goal:
---eat at least 4 small meals a day
---drink at least 8- 8oz glasses a water a day
---do cardiovascular exercise at least 3 times a week
---eat my "plan meals" as much as possible

Your reward for reaching that goal:
A massage at a massage school. :cloud9:

The month is already almost half over!!!!! Oh, no!!!! (I :love: summer!!)

My current weight is: 227lbs.
My August mini goal is: lose 10 lbs.
My plan of action to reach this goal: walk for at least thirty minutes every day; take smaller bites and eat more slowly; take full advantage of all the veggies and fruits now available.
My reward for reaching the goal: a pair of gold hoops earrings I saw. :)

I am joining in here, I have had a bad couple of weeks, just eating everything in sight it seems. I am down to aproximately 20 lbs to go, and it is tough. I have gained 3 lbs, I guess I should be grateful it was not more given how non-controlled my eating was

145. It might be a little unrealistic, but I like to go in 5 lb increments.

Your plan of action to reach that goal:
1. Diet (generic low carb.)
Absolutely NO sugar. I am so good at making "exceptions" for cheese cake day in the cafeteria, or the wonderful cookies they serve at employee of the month ceremony, or Ben and Jerry's after a fight with the sweetie.
Continue my yogurt/cinnamon/ground flax seed/splenda breakfasts.
Unless there is CLEARLY a low carb choice in the cafeteria at work, make lunch the salad bar. I need my greens anyway.
No more bedtime snacks. I MEAN IT!!!
Drink my water.
2.Exercize daily.
Get to curves 3 times a week (Mon, Thurs, Sat is my usual schedule) instead of the 1 to 2 I have been averaging. No more "too busy" excuses. I have transfered to one closer to home with longer hours.
Continue to get to dance class week.(Tues)
Do some other form of exercize Wed, Fri, and Sun. Dance practice or walking.

The DVD of the first season of "Stargate-1"?
Probably a music CD of some sort. Middle Eastern or maybe Saffire - The uppity blues women.

I don't think that is unrealistic - we have 7 weeks and if you lost 1lb a week then you will make it :)

Check out the Week 1 August challenge thread. I put that thread in so we can have a daily chat about what we are doing, exercising, triumphs, struggles, questions, advice etc and will start a new one each week. Sort of a weekly count down to August 1.

We can weigh in once per week - you can choose the day. I am using Monday. :)

1. Follow SBD
2. Exercise: go to gym three times a week, Jazzercise once a week, OA once a week, walk the dog everyday, and do Yoga/Pilates or Belly Dance video once a week.
3. Drink more water
4. Actually measure my food instead of eyeballing it.

Your reward for reaching that goal: A back scrub with head rub and pedicure at the spa at my conference in Pittsburgh. :cloud9:

Hiya Gals! :wave: I think I'm doin' pretty good this week, for me at least. I still need more veggies and probably a little more exercise. BUT I've been eating good the past few days and I don't feel deprived! I've been eating strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and sugar free popscicles :hun: And a big step was that I bought myself a low fat chicken bar-b-q pizza instead of eating the naughty stuff at home. :eating2: It was sooo good. I'm slowly getting stronger against my cravings. I even passed up the donuts today on donut day at work! :s: I'm going to try to find a new scale and double check my weight. I think mine is really off. It said 190 this a.m., which I would jump up and down with joy if it was true :dance: but I don't think it is. So I'll check back in next week. I hope you're all doing well :)

HIya girls! How are you all doing? Life has been busy for me but I just wanted to check in. My scale is still fluctuating between 190-195. I love the 190 mornings :D hehe. I do have something wonderful to report. I've been cutting out sugar for a while now and I never thought it would happen but the things I used to love are too sweet for me now! For example: the strawberry topping on waffles, my old favorite chinese dish-honey seared chicken, and I haven't even wanted to try pancakes with syrup. yuck. I can't believe it! I'm so happy. :smug: And I found sugar free popscicles and they are soooo wonderful. And sugar free snow cones since its hot, hot, hot here in Texas. Just wanted to share some good news. Hope you're all doing well. OH, one more thing. I've also decided to take some enrichment classes like drawing and photography for fun. AND a few friends are getting together to take belly dancing classes next month. Life is good. Take care ya'll. ;)

Hi everyone - I'm back and ready to jump on the challenge band wagon.

My current weight: 177.6
My August mini goal: 172
My plan of action to reach that goal: Joined LA Weight Loss Centre and am very deligently journaling everyday, sticking to program and drinking my 8+ glasses of water every day - I've actually already lost 7 pounds since June 5/04 when I joined.
Your reward for reaching that goal: Smaller clothes - maybe pants

Hi Chickies! :D Guess what! I just went to my gyne. this morning and fearfully stepped on the scale :goodscale and lo and behold. . . I'm at 192! Hooray! :cheer: I'm so excited! I know it was early in the a.m. but I had already had breakfast and coffee :coffee: so thats pretty good for me. Yeah! :D Now if I could just get under 190! I'm going to exercise more this week :barbell: and eat less carbs. Gotta buy groceries. Hope you're all doing well. Take care!

OH the difference a week makes. :( I've been moving so my excuse is I don't want to buy groceries so all I have eaten is junk. All kinds of fast food. I feel crummy. So. . . whats happening with everyone elses goals? The only thing I can say is that I'm going to work out harder in the month of August. I'm doing a walk benefitting Alzheimers on September 11th and I have to be able to walk 3.8 miles. I know I can do 2 right now, but not so sure about the other 1.8. So I'm going to try to work up to it. I hope you're all doing well. Doing better than I am with my diet. :kickcan:
