Awwwww, Ellis, it was INTENDED as a compliment! Where else can I find soulmates like you guys, who know exactly what I mean when I sing my theme song: "Come and knock on our door, And you will be ignored, lahhh deee daaaa, dee daaa three may be company but but the stuff's not for meeeee". :headache: Ok, so I'll keep my day job. Oh, wait, I have no day job, I'm retired! How else could I come up with so much nonsense? :comp:

Hey, girl... WHERE is your bio?! :D
Did I tell you... my psychiatrist can't figure out why I got married and had kids when I like to be alone so much. I have to admit, when he asked me, he really had me stumped, too. |
My BIO? Whaddayakidding me? You want everybody to fall in love with my charm and personality and come to my HOUSE? :stress:
BTW, I'm posting this here because it is sort of off topic. You said you couldn't wait for menopause. Boy, if that's the case, PREPARE for it my friend (i.e. get to goal!). I thought I had at least 5-10 years to get to my normal wt. before that happened but I was caught with my pants around my ankles! More than 100# to lose and my sluggish metabolism slowed down to, well, to being quite content maintaining my current wt., even if I eat a grape a day and WALK from here to one of my favorite countries, N.of the border! Nothing and I mean NOTHING seems to help. So do it now, or you'll have lots of people come to YOUR house and try to help with your wt. loss project; really, they will, I'll tell them how much you want them to! :yikes: Motivating enough for ya? |
I hear ya, Still. I suddenly realized this morning, "Hey! I'm almost 39! That means I have only ONE freakin' year before ... you know." I have NO problems with turning 40, but I vowed I'd be fit at 30. Then 35. And now I feel like this is IT!! Holy.
And yes, I'm in peri-menopause right now, so I've got to get on this right away! My psychiatrist is messing around with my drugs right now. I suddenly realized that DUH!... my Fluoxetine works great, but it really makes me tired. I need a nap almost every day, and have no energy. So hopefully I can get onto something that will make me more "normal". ;) Whatever the heck THAT is. Thanks for the spur... I'll get on it right away. :grouphug: |
Ellis dear, I'm pretty much of a behaviorist and I say, "normal" is what works for you and the special people in your life.
Yeah, fluoxetine can do that but it also helps you sleep at night, right? That's always a plus, unless it interferes with your day-time functioning. Do you like to walk outside? The endorphins and enkephalins sometimes counterbalance the effects of the meds, but I am sure you already know that; just brainstorming. BTW, I know you like to read. I thought the most wonderful gift the world ever received, besides cake, was audiotapes. I don't leave home without them. People in the neighborhood often think it would be a great idea to walk with me. HEY, look at the HEADPHONES! Do I LOOK like I want to walk with somebody? Oh, sorry, I digress; If you have not had an opportunity to discover the miracle of being able to increase your reading time by about oh, 80% (you know, during all those times when you're not doing something that is incompatible with it), you may want to try it. It is amazing how women react to seeing me "read" at the supermarket. Usually I get a "HEEEEY, YOU'RE READING!" and they look like they're angry with me, like why aren't THEY reading? Anyway, I'm rambling instead of getting dressed. Mom's 70th and now I'm saying CHINESE! :hungry: Have a good evening all! |

Yes, I've got a bunch of audio books. I need to get a player for when I'm out... good idea. I listen to them occasionally at home, but when I'm alone, I mostly like to be quiet. I'll listen to music and stuff occasionally, but I just like to think. ;) Have a wonderful birthday meal with your Mom! :balloons: :gift: :hat: |
Ellis-I'M RUBBER AND YOU'RE GLUE.....
Stilltrying-Have fun with your mom!!! Ruth-As Ellis so eloquently said, "TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE!!!!!" |
Good afternoon, chickies. I am coming out of my carb coma and I could probably supply a small nation with salt! It was a fun evening though. Thank you for the nice thoughts, Ellis and Dentrassi.
Ellis, I understand completely about having difficulty walking outside, during this time of year. I am lucky in that our Town does a pretty good job of plowing the streets but I carry so much gear on my walks, I look like one of those overdressed, overstuffed, toddlers. I have about 3 pairs of gloves for a combination of wind/temps, pantyhose to cut the wind and two pairs of sweat pants. I crocheted this "turtle neck/tube" sort of a thing that can either be rolled all the way down around my throat and out of the way or all the way up under my eyes! Then, of course, there is the heavy jacket with a hood! Honestly, I'm surprised I can move at all! There can be a diff. of 15-20 deg.(F) depending on which neighborhood I happen to be circling. I can't even imagine what it must be like for you! Brrrrr Oh, BTW, so sorry, I missed your post on the other "summer" thread, in which you asked about the prematurely budding trees. The first year it happened I freaked, but then I learned that they are still fine in the spring, thank you for asking. Unfortunately, same cannot be said for early blooming spring flowers. That's happened a few times and they did not fare well. It is unfortunate that you are losing sleep due to night sweats. Would you be interested in my checking to see if there is another antidepr. out there that may combat that particular sx? If there is, maybe you could discuss the option with your Psychiatrist. The info would not come from me but from my DH, so if you would like, I'll ask him (he teaches pharm. and often knows about what is new on the market). I was grateful to have had hot flashes only for about a month or so. I don't know what to expect in the future, but if that's it, no one will hear me complaining! Hi Dentrassi, how is your Sun. coming along? Is anyone "doing" Superbowl at your house? DH was kind enough not to ask for anything that would tempt me. We got a 1.5# :ink: lobster tail for him and that's fine with me. That does not bother me, as pizza or a hero might, so I should be good. We don't normally care about the Superbowl either way (it was always about the food for me) but DH has a friend whose cousin plays on one of the teams so TV will probably be on while we do other things. That reason and the commercials...you know, it is good to know what on earth everyone is talking about, the day after. Well, have a good evening chicklettes and I better make like I have a life. |
Still, you're a darling. The thing that bothers me the most is the fatigue. I used to be a really "busy" person. Now I get up at around 6ish (I'm a morning person), and by around 10 or 11 I'm in need of a nap (couple of hours). And then I'll fall asleep at around 9:30 at night.
And despite all that sleep, I don't have any "get-up-and-go". Maybe once every two weeks I'll have a spurt of energy. I never actually considered that it might be a side-effect of my Fluoxetine until recently. Despite being on meds for about six years, this is actually the first time I've ever had my very own psychiatrist (I've been seeing him for about 4 months), and everything is starting to click into place. It's all about me. heh heh. How cool that you and your DH can "talk about your work" together! My Mother never suffered from Menopause, so I grew up believing it was a figment of women's imagination. Den... you're rubber and I'm glue. Okay, now look. I just woke up. You're saying I'm sluggish, is that right? Don't be tricky with me when I've been sleeping. :D (oh, yeah... I really AM glue! duh.) |
Ellis honey, ask your doctor about taking Wellbutrin. Here are some of the side effects:
lifts depression suppresses your appetite gives you energy increases your sex drive  Of course there are some negative side effects too but not nearly as bad as the other drugs I've tried. |
Thank you, Sojo. :) That one won't work for me, because I really need a serotonin reuptake inhibititor. We've settled on ummm... Effexor, I think. I need something that'll work both on my ability to process serotonin and norepinephrine.
I'm completely off meds this week in readiness for the new ones next week, and I'm feeling a LITTLE anxious. I may decide to just sleep all week. ;) |
Hey Ellis, I hope you have a nice, RELAXING week, no anxiety!! Good luck on your new meds. I think the one that increases sex drive still sounds like a dandy ~
|
 Thanks, Jennifer. If I can get through the week without killing anyone (or myself, for that matter  ), I'll be laughin'.
|
Ellis sweetie hang in there :grouphug:
|
Thank you, sweet Sflake. :grouphug:
|
You can always just lock yourself in your bedroom Ellis. ;) Or just be like me and yell at everyone anyway.
Hope the week goes well for you hon! :grouphug: |
Ah, if only our bedroom had a door on it. I COULD lock the attic door and keep everyone out. Thank you, Squeak, dear. :grouphug:
|
HEY!! Come here and yell at my family, okay? I'm trying to get them to help clean the place up!!!
|
Squeak and I will be right over.
|
Ummm...ellis...is it still safe to come over on Saturday or will you yell at me too? :sorry:
|
 Mauvais, I was just looking at my calender and saw your name. Yes, I should be JUST fine! However, if you're worried, we can postpone it. Please leave all sharp objects at home.
|
On my way Den! All they have to do is look at me funny, and I will go off. :D
|
 ellis you are hilarious - see you at 10:00! :D
|
Oh, Ellis, sweetie, we're all HERE for you. WAAAAAY over HERE! Hey, has anyone heard from Mauvais since yesterday at 10:00? :yikes:
|
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
DS13 back at school, neighbor coming over for coffee and COSTCO trip. Just need to: clean house, go to grocery store, cook dinner, polish the box full of jewelry I brought home with me last Monday, wash hair, body and mouth, lose 100 unsightly pounds of fat, and get SANE!!! |
Good luck, Den.
Thanks, Still. :) |
Dentrassi, so then what will you do in the AFTERNOON?
|
:) Den : talk about multi tasking.
|
HAHAHAHA!!!!! Got Costco shopping done, and then was too tired to cook dinner. Chinese take out!!!
DS13 DOESN'T have that mycoplasma infection, just some regular infection.....he went back to school today and had a good day!!! A REALLY good day. He has now informed me that 3 girls who are friends are all telling him he is cute. He likes one of them and is afraid to hurt the feelings of the other two. YEESH!!! I NEVER had a problem like THAT!!!! |
Den, a boy who is careful not to hurt girls' feelings? WHAT a keeper!!! You've obviously done something very, very right! :cp:
|
Yeah, Still. I want one of them saved for my DD. :D
