ellis 10-31-2003 02:46 PM

Mauvais, refresh my memory. WHAT are you wearing this evening? :)

mauvaisroux 10-31-2003 04:07 PM

I am going as a belly dancer! :)

I am wearing a black velvet stretch top that is trimmed with silver beads, irridescent black/purple beads and silver coins a long flowing skirt trimmed with silver sequins, a purple hip scarf trimmed with silver beads and coins.

Accessories: teardrop shaped bindi with silver rhinestones on my forehead, a layered collar necklace of black/purple irridescent beads, matching earrings- with two matching bracelets that look like beaded black chainmail that start at the wrist and go into a point ten turn into a ring for your middle finger, silver toe ring, metallic purple toe and fingernail polish and smoky/sultry makeup with big red lips -big sexy hair.

Not sure what to wear on my feet yet - I am trying to find some strappy sandals that are not too high heeled. :D

ellis 10-31-2003 04:11 PM

Oh, Mauvais. *swoon* You babe, you. (picture, please!)
Hey, have you used that fabric that you bought yet?

ps Go barefoot. :D

sflake 10-31-2003 05:03 PM

Oh Mauvais that sounds just beautiful! I just love the color purple :smug: Yes, please do post some pictures.

mauvaisroux 10-31-2003 05:33 PM

Ellis I can't go barefoot in a bar - lord only knows what is on the floor! :p

Thanks sflake - I will if I get some good pics :)

ellis 10-31-2003 07:22 PM

I just answered the door to a small knight in shining armour, and his sword went right up my nose. Most unpleasant. If he hadn't been so small, I might have struck him.

Wildfire 10-31-2003 07:48 PM

   Ellis, can I come sit in your front yard and just watch you deal with all the goblins that come knocking?

Mauvais, your costume sounds great!

 everyone!

ellis 10-31-2003 08:01 PM

No, but you can come and sit on my verandah, darling. Please leave your weapons at home.

HarmonyBreeze 10-31-2003 11:09 PM

Wow! I gave out candy in my belly dance costume, but it wasn't nearly so involved. I just had my black harem pants and choli trimmed in metallic blue sequins and a purple coin scarf. Maybe if I had gone anywhere important I would have tried harder... sounds like you looked fabulous!

mauvaisroux 11-01-2003 01:41 AM

Well I felt fabulous anyway :D

sflake 11-01-2003 08:41 AM

Snort...sword up the nose hehehe. Ellis sorry to laugh at your injury. You should have given him tuna or something in place of the candy. :D

Jennifer 3FC 11-01-2003 10:56 AM

Speaking of tuna treats...last night we took Cody trick or treating, and he went to one house of college guys and they asked 'candy or spinach?' Cody played along and said spinach. He pulled out about 6 big pieces when he dumped his candy out last night.

dentrassi 11-01-2003 12:23 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY funny!!!!!

We only had 5 kids (3 groups); I was BUMMED!! Our street is too busy so not too many people come...

squeaker 11-02-2003 05:44 PM

Mauvais - your costume sounds absolutely beautiful!

Jen - very cute!

Den - No one really comes to the house so I went out instead. How did DS like trick or treating? or are they both too old now?

Ellis - sorry you got a sword up the nose.

Hello to all of the chicks!

Well finally a quite end to a busy week. Went to a hockey game, which was fun - but we lost. Got a chance to see the Blue Man group. If you ever get a chance - GO! They were just amazing!!! Did the trick or treating thing with my sisters (a renisance bar maid, and Magenta from Rocky Horror), my nephew (Dumbo) and a friend from work (a vampire). I was Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. We had fun. I got to see a kid I used to babysit, who is now 17, taller then me and has a girlfriend. :( It was so great to see him, but it made me feel old. He was only 5 or 6 when I started babysitting. Yesterday was my "little" cousin's 18th birthday. The the kids aren't kids any more.

Today I finally broken down - I got a cell phone. :p Mostly just in case of an emergancy - especially on the long ride to Ohio.

I am determined to get back OP too. so far - I am doing ok I guess.

Have a wonderful day girls!

:mouse:

Ruthxxx 11-02-2003 05:52 PM

Um....my claim to fame....one of the Blue Man group is my cousin.

mauvaisroux 11-03-2003 06:40 AM

Ruthxxx- cool!

Hope your nose is okay Ellis!

Cool costume Squeaker!

Spinach

Hope you all had a good weekend! :)

DH goes in for his operation this morning :crossed: that everything goes smoothly. I have to go to the hospital to pick him up around 11 a.m..

ellis 11-03-2003 06:43 AM

Squeak, I'm so glad you got a cell phone. They really are great in an emergency, and I feel much safer with one when I'm on a long road trip.
Just remember, everyone... when you are out with a friend, do NOT hold lengthy and trivial conversations on the damned thing. It's just rude!
Pardon me... personal rant for the day...

ellis 11-03-2003 06:46 AM

Oh! Hey, Ruthie and Mauvais!
Mauvais, I'll be saying prayers for your DH. Everything will go well. Try not to worry, hon. :grouphug:

Ruthxxx 11-03-2003 06:47 AM

Agree completely, Ellis. To me they should be used just for emergencies - like when we run out of Scotch! I don't have one but am considering it. We get crappy reception here because of all the rocks and hills - damned Canadian Shield!
And that is not a contraceptive!
Mauvais, I hope your DH has a speedy recovery with no male whining!
 to the rest of the Alternachicks. It's Gail Day so I'm on the fly!

dentrassi 11-03-2003 09:19 AM

Mauvais-Lots of good vibes for you and DH.

Ellis-I AGREE COMPLETELY!!!!

Ruth-COOL COUSIN!! (BOTH of you.) Have fun out and about today.

I went and got my exercise in after dropping DS13 off at school. TIRED now....

Wanttolosealot 11-03-2003 10:06 AM

Hi everyone,
You probably dont even remember me, it has been so long since I have dropped in to say hello. I am sorry! I am ashamed of myself for that reason and the fact that I have gained some of my weight back, so today I am starting over. Well, not sompletly over, I still have 40 of the original pounds off. I am now, with jeans and sweatshirt on, 230 lbs. So I need to get this butt moving again.
We opened a new Atlantic Superstore in our town and it is much bigger than the other with of course, many more problems and challenges. I have been having a hard time dealing with some of them, but I think I am back on track with that, so now I have to get my life back on track.
I am almost eight months sober now and that part of my life feels great. I have not given up smoking yet, but have set a date for the 16th of this month to give it another try. Another friend is also quiting that day so maybe with support from him we will both be able to do this. I want to feel healthy again, to walk without having to stop to catch my breath, or my heart racing. What a stupid, stupid habit to start. WHY!!! Why did I ever smoke my first cigarette???
Well, I do not have much more to say right now, but I am sure I will have lots of input as I stick close to you girls again. Thanks for being there for me. Luv to you all
Virginia

mauvaisroux 11-03-2003 10:21 AM

Hey Virginian

Welcome back! Don't feel ashamed - it happens to everyone :grouphug: You just need to get back in the saddle again and you are doing so well with quitting drinking :bravo:

ellis 11-03-2003 10:26 AM

Virginia, good going with the sobriety! :grouphug:
Don't stress about the weight loss... it'll come back off, and you'll quit smoking, too!

Den, congrats again on getting to Curves!!

Goddess Jessica 11-03-2003 01:25 PM

ACK I'm SICK!!!!!

The soot from the fires gave me a very nasty respitory infection. My throat is so swollen that I can't talk.... (no jokes about **** freezing over on that one :) ) I couldn't sleep last night because of all the hacking. I've been soooo good this year about getting sick. I swear Yoga gave me a stronger immunity but now, beaten by some ash. Sigh.

Jennifer 3FC 11-03-2003 01:33 PM

Jessica, I am sorry about your infection. :( Hope you feel better soon!

Virginia, congratulations on the sobriety! Good luck for quitting smoking. YOU CAN DO IT! When you have the mindset, you'll make it. It took me many tries, but I finally quit a few years ago.

Den, congrats on the exercise. You deserve a nap!

Mauv, thoughts and prayers to the hubby! Is it a minor surgery?

mauvaisroux 11-03-2003 07:22 PM

Jessica-hope you feel better soon :grouphug:

Den-way to go on the exercise :cp:

Jennifer- DH had surgery on his shoulder which keeps dislocating at random intervals and when he least expects it -it happened 2 weeks ago when he was driving :yikes:

He is home safe and sound and resting - still a little dopey. The fun will begin tomorrow when the freezing wears off and the effects of the anasthetic are completely gone :fr: I picked up some morphine and some painkillers for him from the pharmacy and he can't be alone for the first 24 hours so I am taking tomorrow off work to take care of him.

He will has to be off work for 2-3 weeks and his shoulder has to be completely immobilized. He won't even be able to have a shower so I will have to give him spongebaths - I'll have to dig out my naughty nurse uniform from the back of my closet

dentrassi 11-03-2003 07:48 PM

Mauvais-Glad to hear your DH is home and will soon be ready for you to play naughty nurse!!! Sounds like it was a good thing he had that corrected! It must have been pretty scary to have his shoulder go out while he was driving.....

Jessica-Hope your infection gets better soon, what a pain.

Jennifer, Ellis and Mauvais-Thanks for the encouragement!! I have been EXTREMELY sedentary for way too long so I am starting slowly. Hope the endorphins start kicking in soon!!!

Virginia-HI!! Glad to hear that you have been sober for 8 months, that is GREAT!! Good luck with the cigarettes too, although you have proven that you can do it!

ellis 11-03-2003 08:25 PM

Mauvais, so glad your DH's op went well. If his shoulder has to be immobilized, does that mean no sex?! Don't get him too excited with that nurse's uniform. :D

squeaker 11-03-2003 08:34 PM

Mauvais - Glad DH is ok. :)

Ellis- you are too funny  I will not be on it while with friends. I don't even plan on giving the number to more then a handful of people.

Den :cb: Way to go on Curves!!!

Ruth - very cool about your cousin.

Welcome Back Virginia!

Sorry you aren't feeling good Jessica. At least the fires are under control!

Jen - what did Cody end up going trick or treating as? Sorry if you answered, but I don't remember much of anything. :)

Off to do some more painting (ceramics).

:mouse:

Jennifer 3FC 11-03-2003 08:58 PM

Squeaker, he decided to go back to the bag of jelly beans at the last minute. Rob worked really hard making a sign for his back that said Happy Jellyween, and he was still referred to as Balloon Boy by anybody over 50! He was cute, but it was hard to get up and down stairs....he leaned way over a few times cos the bag went almost down to his knees, and we thought he would fall over a couple of times. At least he had lots of padding!

Mauv - when my husband had anasthesia and pain meds, he didn't know where he was or what happened, but he sang every word to Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. If I were you, I'd take pictures or videos, or at least notes! You can have a lot of fun with this in the future...

PS - To those of you that don't read the announcements on a regular basis, there is an important one about this forum moving, go take a peek!

Merrylegs 11-03-2003 08:58 PM

Speaking as a nurse: sex should be okay, as long as Mauvais is driving.

Glad he's okay, Mauvais.

squeaker 11-03-2003 09:00 PM

Jennifer 3FC 11-03-2003 09:05 PM

Merry, I've been trying to find the right way to say 'that', and gave up. Thanks! ;)

Wildfire 11-03-2003 09:09 PM

I really don't think sex while driving is a safe thing, operation or not. :nono: Geez, you'd think a nurse would know THAT! ;)

Mauvais, hope DH recovers quickly, for both your sakes!

Virginia, of course we remember you! Congrats on 8 months sober! That's fantastic! Don't sweat the gain....just get back on plan!

 Hi everyone!

mauvaisroux 11-03-2003 11:13 PM

Thanks for your well wishes everyone :D

sflake 11-04-2003 07:55 AM

Mauvais~ here's to a speedy recovery

mauvaisroux 11-04-2003 12:00 PM

Thanks sflake!

BTW did I mention that I love Miss Chris' new pic? Great hair! :D

Eep! Winter is upon us -woke up this morning to -7C and freezing rain -:yikes:

Goddess Jessica 11-04-2003 02:59 PM

Hi girls!

Mauv - Hope your hubby has a speedy recovery!
Jen - Sounds like an adorable costume. And I didn't read the thing on the forum moving. What a suprise!

Ruthxxx 11-04-2003 03:23 PM

I've met M's hunky husband and am sure they will figure out something! I hope he has a speedy recovery and not a lot of pain.
Damned weather! Freezing rain here this afternoon! I am moving into SAD and am looking at light boxes. Does anyone have any recommendations?
