My favorite was walking through the mall a group of boys"mooed" (yes like a cow) at me. My gorgeous model best friend promptly had them escorted out of the mall, after she humilated them (I wanted to crawl under the floor)

At 10 my grandmother took me for a walk telling me that I needed to lose weight if I wanted to grow up and find a good man, then she walked me back to the house and we baked cookies.

On my 24th birthday I have two roommates and we lived next store to a group of guys that had a rock n roll band. One of the guys had slept with both of my roomates, and the night of my birthday he hit on me, telling me "most guys wouldn't sleep with you...but I will" I sent him home after telling him he wasn't my type.

The stock....
you're so pretty if you would just lose weight you would be perfect

Just eat less---Just exercise-

My favorite comeback.....I may be fat, but your ugly....and I can lose weight.

Aphil! Cool pictures!! Thanks for sharing! :hat:

I hear ya, Rowan. It's as though we're wearing a disguise. A layer of fat, and underneath is the "real us".

dentrassi 08-26-2003 08:32 AM

APHIL!! COOL COSTUMES!!!

Chris-YUP!! And backstabbers too.....

Rowan-A$$HOLES!!!! Every one of them.

HEY ELLIS!!!

ellis 08-26-2003 08:52 AM

Hey Den! You're up awful damned early, hon!

aphil 08-26-2003 11:06 AM

Thanks everyone...
Chris-I like to walk right past the "Buy this" booths and go for the fun that can be had...the costume contests, the "after convention" parties...and the other antics...we have a lot of fun. Nothing like the look on everyone's face when 20 stormtroopers, Princess Leia, and a handful of jedi sit down to eat at your local Steak and Shake...
Rowan-Good job making that band member feel inadequate-letting him know that he wasn't YOUR type...why would you want your roomate's seconds anyway??? You go girl!

A old boyfriend long long ago when breaking up with me said " give me a call if you ever lose weight" As if. Can you believe it? What a jerk. I was probably around 150 then and I'm 5'6" which is my goal weight now. People need to think BEFORE they open the mouth.

Aphil - My boyfriend family has a business based on SF conventions, so I'm quite burned out on them but your costumes are very very cool. I'm impressed!

Another one of my favorites, I was with my super-model looking friend and we were going into a 7-11 and this guy held the door open for her and then dropped it on me. ***.

Oh, I just remembered this - sflake, your boyfriend anecdote reminded me (& doesn't HE sound like a charmer and a half!). My main college boyfriend was tall and wiry and he was sitting next to me once and said, pointedly looking at our respective stomachs, I'm glad I have a small stomach (I weighed about 135 lbs at the time and am 5-5) in a very pointed way. And he said sometimes he was attracted to me and sometimes repelled (said this at a different time! liked to spread the compliments out you see!) and I got the distinct impression that this had to do with my weight, as he pointed out a few girls he thought were very cute and they were all about 85 lbs, gymnast types.

Wonder why THAT relationship never worked out! Ha ha.

Real sweet guys, huh. oh yeah, perfect in every way.....yeah right.

Makes me thankful for my husband who joked that he got me pregnant with our second child after becoming "too thin" after getting in shape after our first child...I went from 200 pounds to about 155 after getting in shape after my first pregnancy-(I am 5'7")
What makes me even more thankful is that I don't ever have to worry about being a hardbody...I exercise and weight train and am getting nice abs and shoulders...but I will always have a little extra flash in the butt and thigh area...and he luckily likes that in a woman.
At my brother's wedding recently-the stepmother of the bride tackily wore a thong under a dress that you could see it under-and my husband never even noticed. (She was a tiny hardbody type) What he DID notice was one of the bridesmaids whose behind jiggled slightly under her dress with each step down the aisle...he was like "Woohoo! Did you see that??"
I love him...

Your DH is great Aphil! :)

I guess I have a something that sorta fits in this thread. I was having a conversation with a friend about my idea of starting to exercise. And with that, also cutting calories/eating better. I need something to kick start my weight loss.

Well, this lead to an argument on if I would over do it - exercise too much/cut out too much food. Ha! They are obviously over-estimating my ability to exercise and my will power against food. While I understand the concern, I promised that I wouldn't do something to harm myself.

Lidian 08-26-2003 08:53 PM

Yeah, I love that too. Last December when my dad saw me after losing weight, and this is the same person who has been bugging me on and off my whole life whenever I have put on weight, said not to "go overboard" and lose more weight (incidentally I was about 145 lbs, which is not exactly an anorexic model weight or anything) - like nothing I do is ever going to please some people! Fortunately DH is nothing like this - thank goodness! He is supportive but has never bugged me about my weight, but is very encouraging when I do.

You can see why I only see dear old dad once a year, and for as short a visit as possible!

CREEPS!!! I carry most of my weight in my stomach, so have people asking me if I'm pregnant (Or when I'm due!) sometimes. Except when I WAS pregnant and a nurse at my temp job said, "I didn't know you were pregnant, I thought you were just FAT!!"

Rowan Bailey 08-27-2003 01:04 AM

dentrassi-- People just have way too much permission to speak to overweight people and be cruel -- if they dish it I will give it back whever I can unless I am PMSing, then I just cry :-) --rb

dentrassi 08-27-2003 08:16 AM

I think we SHOULD give it back. It might teach them that it is unacceptable. (Or more to the point, WE will feel better!!!)
