Hi everyone...Shel, don't think I have met you. This must have been before they blended the two groups. Glad to meet you. I have tons of favorite literature but I have a sick Griffin so I can't play in your game. I thought it was allergies and it might be. But he has picked up the croup virus this past weekend at the birthday party. Not fun at all! We don't have the insurance thing figured out so I am tryuing to be proactive. Cameron never got croup, but Ri got it every 6 months from 2-8yrs of age. He always had to go to the ER for breathing treatments. I do not want to end up there today. So humidifier is on. Decogestant is in him, as is his cough medicine. He is watching Tom and Jerry in my bed. It will be a quiet day here. Can all my children be well all at the same time????? Too much to ask. Grif seems to get the worst of it.

Lamorgan 04-02-2003 12:31 PM

Croup's a pain. My kids usually had it at least once, Mat was in the hospital with it at 8 months of age for 4 or 5 days. Now it's hard to find a dr. that can diagnose it properly let alone treat it properly! In B.C. I ended up at a naturalpath who cleared up a nasty case of croup for Foster.

Good luck!!!!

I hope he bounces back quickly...

Lam

P.s I don't think I know Shel either, but I've had 2 bouts of going missing myself...

:)

Amyjo01 04-02-2003 03:41 PM

Shel ~ glad you are here, don't think we have met before I will ditto Flower's excuse :) prior to the groups blending.

Flower ~ I hate that Grif is sick again, it seems like he just can't catch a break. Watch that croup thing, I know the insurance stuff is a crap hole but it is better to take him in if you see him getting any worse.

Wish I could stay in bed and watch Tom and Jerry those were the days :)

Things here are in full bloom and so are my allergies. I had a killer headache yesterday, couldn't figure if it was from working out or if it was from the pollen. Haven't made it out to the shed yet to hit the tread mill but plan to do at least 2 miles before South Park company show up.

Well hope everyone else is well.

Hugs to you all,
Amy

I ended up taking him in to the clinic. The wheezing was bothering me. He had to stop and rest a lot. So we went. He is going to rent me a nebulizer so I can do the breathing treatments at home. And five days of steroids so he doesn't get the hyperventilation thing when he gets wheezy. We did a treatment in the office. Doc was 59$, precriptions 31$ and the rental is suppose to be around 40$. A lot cheaper than a ER visit! They think he might have asthma...we'll have to keep an eye out for him. Luckily he barked in the office, so they knew I wasn't being a worry wart!

dentrassi - Fishwhistle!!! When my boyfriend and I first moved out here, he would take that book to the beach and read it to me. I loved it!!!

Amyjo01 04-02-2003 05:52 PM

Glad I am not the only one who think it sounds like a bark. Sky always sounds like a seal or a duck when she has it.

Lamorgan 04-02-2003 09:49 PM

Yup, all my kids barked once or awhile. Mat ended up having mild ashma as an older child, when he gets a cold he'll use a puffer. Evan too, but that was when I smoked. I used to smoke outside, but the ashma specialist told me that the ashma-causing particles stick to your clothes for up to 2 weeks.

Talk about a guilt trip.

What a pain to have to pay the doctor!

Chris smokes. Not in the house. I will have to tell him what you said. Not sure if that will get him to quit. But it is worth a try! :)

dentrassi 04-02-2003 10:52 PM

Lamorgan-YES!! Thanks! Wizard of Earthsea is the name of the series!!! Love those books (actually, i love a lot of her stuff!!)

Godess-Sounds WONDERFUL!! DH and I used to read to each other a lot. Things have been so nuts lately that we haven't kept up with the practice. We used to read "Winnie the Pooh" (with"voices" to each other when we were particularly in need of comfort!!) DH LOVES Eeyore, so he threw himself in with gusto!!

Flower-WOW! Griff has been sick a lot this winter. Hope he gets better soon.

Lamorgan 04-03-2003 09:20 AM

I have all those books plus a few more of hers. They are living in my attic until I somehow come up with a giant bookcase. I need to re-read them, it's been over 20 years.

Ugh. High winds and major pressure change has caused me to suffer migraine flashes this morning.

We are expecting a winter storm! Freezing rain for my area but poor Toronto is expecting lots of snow!!!

My kids may get a storm day - in April!

Well despite all that is going on in the world right now I do have some good news :)

1st- I got a call from a government agency telling me that I passed the test I wrote a couple of weeks ago and they will be calling me to set up an appointment for language testing. I am also going for testing at the Department of Justice tomorrow! :crossed: :lucky:

2nd-my hubby and his band were on the news this week-just a short segment but they did show part of their video and they are playing at a local bar on Friday as part of a showcase for the Juno promotions (Junos are the Canadian equivalent to the Grammys or American Music Awards for you U.S. chicks), then he is playing again on Saturday night at another local bar. his band has also been in the local paper twice this week :cb: I married a rock star!

3rd-I leave for London, England on the 14th :D Only 10 days to go!

:chin:...since we were talking about books...I already have my plane book picked out....the latest Michael Slade book:)

Mauv-CONGRATS and good luck!

dentrassi 04-03-2003 06:16 PM

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! Mauvais!!!!!!!!

It is GREAT that all these wonderful things are happening in your life!! Hope They keep on coming!!! Tell your DH congratulations too!!!:lucky:  :bravo: :cloud9:

ellis 04-03-2003 07:12 PM

Mauvais, that's wonderful news!! I'm so happy for you both! :cb:
Which local paper?

You can't leave on the 14th! That's the day of the big anti-war protest! Jim and I were expecting you to come with us! :D
Jim is leaving for England the following week. He said to me, "Let's make it memorable - but not so memorable that I'm stuck in an RCMP detention cell in Northern Alberta just before my trip."

mauvaisroux 04-03-2003 08:12 PM

Thanks for the support everyone! :D You chicks are great!

I will be sending protest vibes to you Ellis-I will be with you in spirit at least :) The band was in the Citizen in the 16 page pull out section on the Junos, they are called Pale AD, They will be on the news on CJOH tomorrow night, I'm not sure if it will be the 6:30 edition or the 11:30 edition.

I am nervous about the test tomorrow as they did not tell me what it is about, they just said it was to see if you can work within the parameters of the job??? No mention of typing or computer tests  Guess I will see when I get there.

ellis 04-03-2003 09:49 PM

Just said a little prayer for you, Mauvais. ;)
:grouphug:

mauvaisroux 04-03-2003 10:39 PM

Thanks Ellis :D You are a sweetie!

I just hope I get a break on the job front soon. I am glad that I at least have a job at the moment but I would like to be working in a more positive environment, and better pay and benefits would be a bonus;)

dentrassi 04-03-2003 11:41 PM

Mauvais-Your current position sounds like what my therapist calls "A toxic environment." hope you can get out of it soon. You deserve A LOT better!!
I'll be sending good vibes your way tomorrow.

ellis 04-04-2003 07:06 AM

Lamorgan... Mauvais.... there is a honkin' STORM WARNING!!! Good lord!! "Snow heavy at times mixed with ice pellets."
I CAN'T STAND IT!!! IT'S ALL RUTH'S FAULT FOR LEAVING!!!

Lamorgan 04-04-2003 08:34 AM

Can you believe it? My kids are all home today - the schools are closed due to a major winter storm!!!! But the newspapers still had to go out! Actually, it was kind of cool walking in the ice-pellets... Not too cold out but a wicked north-east wind. I will have to cancel my visit with my dear friend Randy though, I was supposed to go tomorrow after work and spend the night. The weather is supposed to be bad until tomorrow.

Wild for April. The Robins out there do not look too happy.

I was listening to CBC and how so many government workers in Ontario are getting freaked about needing strong French skills.

Good luck to you Mauvais! And for your husband too!

Ah well, last assignment calls to be completed. Worth 25% of my mark, and already my kids are driving me nuts (because they want the computer).

My youngest is having a snit because I said no-way to Nintendo for today.

Lam

ellis 04-04-2003 08:44 AM

Good luck with your assignment, Lamorgan!! :grouphug:

flower 04-04-2003 10:37 AM

It snowed in Reno yesterday. You up North aren't the only ones having wierd April weather! In Fallon, it is just windy and cold!
