Oh, Ellis

My TA-DA for today was to do a makeover on my resume and write an awesome cover letter and then I posted to another job on the government website :D I'm still trying!

ellis 03-15-2003 12:02 PM

Good for you, Mauvais... the right job is just waiting for you... don't give up, hon!
:grouphug:

squeaker 03-16-2003 12:12 PM

Good Luck on the job search Mauvais! :lucky:

Well I have 2 ta-das -

I FINALLY bought a dryer, after not having one for over a year. It is being delivered tomorrow.

The second one is after making things much worse, I repaired a friendship, I think. We are going to really talk for the first time tonight, it has mostly been email and IM. I am not sure if it is perfect, but I think we are ok now.:crossed:

Ruthxxx 03-16-2003 12:51 PM

Big TA-DA - just shovelled the snow off the back part of the deck so the sun can melt the rest of the ice! The guys come tomorrow to install the new woodstove and hearth so will need that working space. (I guess this could really go under exercise but it was too pleasant out there to count!)

mauvaisroux 03-16-2003 07:43 PM

Good going chicks :bravo:

Good luck with your friend Squeak!

ellis 03-16-2003 09:01 PM

Squeaker, I'm glad for you re: your friend. You must feel a weight off your back. :grouphug:

Ruthie... hope the woodstove installation goes smoothly.

I don't have a ta-da for today, but I'm hoping for some biggies tomorrow...

jiffypop 03-16-2003 09:34 PM

hiked up a hill with the dog.. for the first time in about 10 years! had to stop and rest a little, but from being bedridden and on oxygen to hiking a steep hill with ice on it..

hey!! i'll take it!!

mauvaisroux 03-17-2003 04:27 PM

WAY TO GO JIFFY POP :cp:
That is truly amazing!

On the weekend I finally took all the knicknacks off the bookshelves and dusted everything (even the plants :) ) and spent some time reorganizing the bookshelves. I have been meaning to do this for ages and just never got around to it

Today's TA-DA is that I have made a conscious effort to have a better attitude towards my job and to not get stressed out as much. It seems to be working so far :D

Sojourner 03-17-2003 04:41 PM

Ta da!

My big ta da for today is that I interviewed for a really great position... and it seemd to go very well and I think they liked me! This was just the first round of interviews, and it seems like there is a lot of competition for this job... but I'm keeping my hopes up. :crossed:

rochemist 03-17-2003 09:41 PM

I made 6 whole food meals for myself today. No bars, no shakes. I knew I could do it!

Miss Chris

Lamorgan 03-17-2003 09:52 PM

Started cleaning the basement today... looks loads better.

Lam

ellis 03-17-2003 09:54 PM

Good luck with the job, Sojo!

jiffypop 03-17-2003 10:24 PM

what a wonderful bunch of accomplishments!! now, if anyone wants to tackle more dusting and organizing, let me know!1!!

sarajane 03-17-2003 11:27 PM

Good luck to the job hunters! Way to go Jiffypop!!! :flow1:

Squeaker - KUDOS to you for repairing your friendship! That is a whole in your heart that could be filled no other way.

Ruthie - my parents have a wood stove and my mom puts her hiney up to it to warm up. Have fun!!!

squeaker 03-18-2003 07:51 AM

It was a wonderful feeling to make up, but it was a hard thing to do. We had our first real big fight in the middle of trying to repair things. As it turns out, niether of us are completely right or wrong. We had our first real phone conversation for the first time in almost 2 months last night. It was nice.

Good Luck on the job Sojo! :lucky:

Jiffypop - you get to do your own organizing and cleaning, unless you are willing to excercise for me, then I'll think about it.

Ruthxxx 03-18-2003 03:36 PM

TA-DA! I will spare you the gruesome details but 1/2 of my dog yard is now poop-free. I'll do the rest tomorrow morning.

Goddess Jessica 03-18-2003 03:51 PM

Being the owner of the most poopin'est dogs ever, I understand that accomplishment, Ruth!

RavenToy 03-18-2003 03:51 PM

 I remember "spring cleaning" up in Alaska with a great dane and a basset/beagle mix. Whee!!

wsw 03-18-2003 05:41 PM

i started a project today (organizing some of my files) and am making a good dent in it.

ellis 03-18-2003 08:14 PM

Well, I'm very proud of myself. :D Today I worked out at the Y, had coffee with a friend (socializing... big sacrifice for Ellis), swept and tidied the front porch, did a load of laundry, and shoveled a path in the backyard (just about had a heart attack). Oh, and I went for a walk with DH!

sarajane 03-18-2003 08:50 PM

I am so glad you guys are doing well.

This is a BIG Ta-Da day!!!

I cleaned off all the piles of paper on my desk!!! I finished all of the tasks that everyone had put on my desk during my vacation. It took 6 days but it is done!!!

I also got all the wedding cake layers baked for Friday!!

I finally finished my website as well. That has been bugging me for a week!

www.specialcakesbysara.com

feel free to check it out! I think all the kinks are out! But I am sure I will find more. I am not so computer savvy that I actually understood the program.

I am going to bed VERY SOON!

Have a very good evening and sweet dreams!

jiffypop 03-18-2003 09:10 PM

i saw a social worker about getting some help for mom... to take some of the stress <twitch twitch> off of me... VERY big ta da for me!!!!! a real step in taking care of myself..

ellis 03-18-2003 09:16 PM

SARA!!! You MADE those!?!?!? Holy moly, they're beautiful! Are they edible? :D I'll take one of each, please. Wow... you are amazing, girl!!

ellis 03-18-2003 09:18 PM

Oh! And Jiffypop... good for you! Ummm, am I being forward in asking what kind of help? Because I could really use some help for MY Mom!! <twitch twitch> :D

flower 03-18-2003 09:28 PM

Sara-you are talented girlfriend! Ellis-you confused me changing your picture thingy! You know I get confused easily! :)

ellis 03-18-2003 09:34 PM

I did it just to confuse you, Flower. ;) I'll change it again tomorrow... see how quickly you pick up on it.

sarajane 03-18-2003 10:17 PM

Jiffypop- good for you! You have to take care of yourself in order to take care of your mother. Mother's are more precious than any diamond or rare gem. I would not take anything for my mother. She is the closest person to my life. We talk for an hour every evening.

Thanks for the feedback guys. One day I will quit my day job and just make cakes.

Ellis - I like the photo, but I had to take a second look as well.

Please say a little (or BIG) prayer for this world. It looks like we are in for a shake up. My daughter asked me today if all daddy's had to go to war? She has never mentioned anything about it before. Hubby has officially canceled the trip to Greece. His brother called from - somewhere over there - and said not to plan on going. Truth be told he just did not want to fly. We can drive to Disney World.

OI812 03-19-2003 05:52 AM

Absolutely beautiful cakes Sara! You have a gift.

I did find one spelling mistake. In the pricing section. For your sculpture cakes, the "L" is missing in sculpture. Just thought I'd poing that out for you so you can change it.

Wonderful site Sara!

And so many different flavours of cheesecake!

jiffypop 03-19-2003 10:48 AM

ladies.. this has to be quick.. will try for more later.. but ELLIS:

mom is 80 and has early alzheimers. fortunately, she's not progressing very quickly, but it's still a problem. i was looking for some help to get her to her 3-day-a week senior aerobics class, and to help her to stay there afterwards for the senior crafts group. ANYTHING to keep her moving and socialized. and if they could talk her into taking a shower every week, i'd be in heaven. and then maybe an occasional sunday afternoon so that i could actually maybe see some friends or just have some of my own downtime..

fortunately, we don't need medical care, just companionship and a little help right now.

so , the social worker suggested i contact a senior care agency that provides these services. not quite sure how best to pay for it, but frankly, with two out of state siblings who do minimal anything at this point, i think they could come up with some cash... ya think????

mauvaisroux 03-19-2003 10:55 AM

Sara- your cakes look absolutely gorgeous! Good luck with your business :lucky:

Sojourner 03-19-2003 11:09 AM

Wow!

Sara, I am so impressed with those cakes. I've made several attempts at cake decorating and it is SO difficult! Your creations are beautiful and undoubtedly delicious.

ellis 03-19-2003 01:33 PM

Jiffypop, I'm so sorry about your Mom's Alzheimers. It must be particularly difficult for you. I'd say your siblings definitely should be pitching in with some money towards her care. I know you love your Mom, but you've got a far bigger burden than any amount of money can compensate for.

Ummm, my Mom is 78, and she's pretty much perfectly healthy other than that she treats me as though I'm HER mother! She's leaned on me emotionally since I was a little girl, and I'm finding the stress is becoming unbearable. She's easily hurt, but I'm just going to have to buckle down and talk to her about it before I have (another) nervous breakdown.

I'll be saying prayers for you and your Mom, Jiffypop.
:grouphug:

RavenToy 03-19-2003 01:44 PM

Sara, your cakes are lovely. I dibbled in cakes for a while, and had a lot of fun, but I never got to that point. Absolutely lovely.

Jiffypop - I'm so sorry about your mom. Bless your heart for being there for her. I really hope you can find some sort of help, though. ~Who will guard the guardians?~

squeaker 03-19-2003 01:54 PM

Sara - the cakes are beautiful! I am so jealous. Good luck with the buisness!

Jiffypop - I hope everything works out with your mom. :grouphug:

Ellis - I hope you get to talk to your mom before you have a nervous breakdown. :grouphug: to you too. :)

:mouse:

ellis 03-19-2003 02:00 PM

Thank you sweet Squeak. :)

jiffypop 03-19-2003 02:04 PM

ellis... my heart aches for you. i'm in a similar position with my mom, and it's been that way since i was a little girl as well. makes everything even more difficult. they BOTH need to get a life, at least one that's not yours or mine!

and that's one of the main reasons for this push to get help. i can't do this anymore!!!!

and ladies.. thank you so much for your kind words. they are just like big hugs for me.

ellis 03-19-2003 02:23 PM

Thank you, Jiffypop. Obviously we are BOTH far too charitable in lending our ears. ;)
My sweet sister has offered to talk to my Mom about the situation this weekend. I just can't seem to do it myself. It's too stressful... I'm afraid she's going to have a stroke or something. Or cry. (never mind that I cried all weekend because I was so frustrated about her!)
I'm starting to really dislike and resent her, which is unfortunate because she's a riot and I love and admire her.

flower 03-19-2003 03:09 PM

Jiffypop/ellis- {{{{HUGS}}}} Sorry you have this responsibility. Not fair... hope something good happens soon.

TA DA~ Chris said he would put my gym together Saturday IF there was room. Well, the garage now is 3/4 clean. No excuse now. There is plenty of room. He is not gonna believe his eyes. He will be shocked. I need to bug bomb the shed and I can wash it out and put my crafts out there. I lit sage in there today and told all the daddy long legs to leave as they were gonna be reincarnated if they didn't. There are so many! If it was just a few I would take them out, but the #'s just creeep me out! Once that is done, the garage may actually be used for my car too. Imagine that!!!

Amyjo01 03-19-2003 04:04 PM

Did my taxes today :) Getting enough back to buy the new living room furniture that I have been eyeing and finish the remodeling in my house to get it ready to sell this summer or next fall.....

TA DUM ~ Washed my cell phone in my pants pocket this morning... I hope it will dry out and work again, don't want to have to replace it.

ellis 03-19-2003 04:50 PM

Thank you Flower. :flow1:
