Nurturing the Nuts

My Mom is having another cystoscopy on Monday. She'll have to have them every 3 months for a while, but they are doing this one in the hospital to make sure they got all the cancer last time. So PLEASE would you all send "no cancer" and just general good vibes her way?

Thanks ALL!!!

squeaker 01-25-2003 12:50 PM

Well, all your good wishes must have helped, because the doctor said everything looked good!! We have to wait for the results of the biopsies still, but so far so good. AND my Mom was back home 2 1/2 hours after the procedure, so recovery time was VERY good.

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!

Wanttolosealot 01-29-2003 06:48 AM

Oh thats great news Den! Will continue to keep you and your mom in my thougths and prayers.

Great news, Den. If the doc said everything is OK, it probably is. The followup stuff is usually just to make sure and cover their a**. Hug your Mum - I wish I'd done that more.

{{{{HUGS & GOOD THOUGHTS}}}} YOUR WAY

Sojourner 03-04-2003 03:09 PM

Hey...

thank you everyone. I am feeling a little better today but I slept in very late. Actually I probably needed a nice long sleep since my mood seems to be lifted a little. I just stepped on the scale and I am up 1 1/2 pounds since I returned from my trip. :( I haven't been eating all too well this whole time so it isn't much of a surprise. Guess I need to get back on track starting right now!

mauvaisroux 03-04-2003 03:40 PM

Prayers and :goodvibes sent out to Den and her mom, Ellis and her mom, and Sojo!

ellis 03-04-2003 03:54 PM

Thank you Flower and Mauvais! :)

Sojourner 03-04-2003 04:24 PM

I forgot to say...

how wonderful it is to have a group of caring and supportive women to share this stuff with. Praying for your mom Ellis and for anyone else who needs it!

ellis 03-04-2003 06:15 PM

Thank you, Sojo. :) It IS wonderful.
I DID say in the other thread that you were in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure you saw that, but in case you thought I'd forgotten you...
:grouphug:

dentrassi 03-04-2003 07:25 PM

Good thoughts for Sojo and for Ellis and Ellis' Mom. What's up with your Mom sweetie? (Unless you don't want to talk about it.)

flower 03-04-2003 09:11 PM

Can you put in a healing thought or 2 for Griffin. He is sick again. I took him to a clinic cause he had a temp of 103 this afternoon. By the time we were seen, the tylenol brought it down. BUT all was not in vain, his throat is filled with pus. Another bacterial infection!!!!! I will have to remember to up the yogurt for him, he gets yeast infections all over his bottom!!!! I was wondering why he would drink anything all day!!!

ellis 03-04-2003 09:17 PM

Flower, hugs and prayers for little Griffin. Poor darling... what a time he's having. :grouphug:

Thank you, Den! Sojo and I wrote our worries into some other thread... can't remember which one. Nothing MAJOR, but Mom has a really bad cough and is still in Mexico. She's having trouble getting in to see a doctor (long waiting times), and according to my Dad the weather is very hot and makes for difficult breathing. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but she's had a number of bronchial infections over the past ten years, and she's 78 now. I'm worried... :(

dentrassi 03-05-2003 11:19 AM

Flower-WHAT A DRAG!!!! Good thoughts going out for Griffin as well as Sojo, Ellis and Ellis' Mom.

Ellis-It IS a big deal sweetie. I am sure she will be okay, but just about anything that makes our parents ill is worrying. And as they get older it only increases the worry. Plus which, with your Mom in Mexico you can't check up on her in the same way so that makes it even worse.

ellis 03-05-2003 11:28 AM

Thank you sweet Den. :)

squeaker 03-05-2003 06:55 PM

Flower - I hope Griffin gets better soon! (and stays better)

squeaker 03-10-2003 02:44 PM

I think this is bigger then the Nurturing the Nuts thread, but I did not want to put this in a thread by itself.

I know we are all in here for weight loss, but I had a very sobering experience today. This afternoon I found out my sister's friend, who we have known for as long as I can remember, died yesterday. My guess would be heart failure, since she was anorexic. She was only 22 years old. Last time I saw her, back in July, she looked awful. You could see her shoulder blades, and she was just stick thin. I wanted to say something to her, but didn't since it was at my sister's baby shower. I didn't want to cause any problems. My sister recently found out that her friend was also making herself sick when she did eat. She wanted to go down and talk to her mom, but her mom wasn't home Saturday. We are going to her mom's tonight, and the wake is Thursday. It all feels so surreal. She was such a sweetheart.

So yeah, we may be trying to lose weight, but just know when to stop.

flower 03-10-2003 02:49 PM

Squeek-hugs!!!! How sad and so wasteful. Be strong for your friends family. They will need you!!! She must have been so very sad inside to have done that to herself.

I personally find thin gross. I look at the runway models and see the bones in their thighs, I am grossed out. I don't want to see bones, only shapely muscles!!! A little pudge here and there is what makes us girls!!!!

Lunula 03-10-2003 03:19 PM

So sorry to hear that, Squeaker. It absolutely breaks my heart to be reminded that we have become such a weight-obsessed society that people are literally dying to be thin. Makes me dislike & distrust the media even more...

{{{Hugs}}}

RavenToy 03-10-2003 03:46 PM

I'm so sorry, Squeaker. :grouphug:
