  • Ellis,
I truely love this thread and Terri grrrll you wrote down some beautiful things to be thankful for and I want to say DITTO!
You gals warm the cockels of my heart. Not sure what cockels are, but you warm them
    Big warm fuzzy hugs
    Virginia
  • Oh geez... another egghead.
    Thanks, Mauvais.

Thanks, Squeak. I like that part of it, too.
  • Thanks to life, which has given me so much
It has given me two eyes and when I open them
I clearly distinguish black from white
And in the high sky, its starry depths,
And from the crowds, the man that I love.
Thanks to life which has given me so much
It has given me hearing which in all its breadth
day and night, records crickets and canaries
hammers, turbines, barking, dark clouds and the tender voice of my beloved one.
Thanks to life which has given me so much
It has given me sound and the alphabet
and with it, the words to think and speak
Mother, friend, brother and the light that brightens
the path of the soul of my loved one.
Thanks to life which has given me so much
It has kept my tired feet walking with them
I walked through cities and puddles,
beaches and deserts, mountains and plains
and your house, your street and your courtyard.
Thanks to life, which has given me so much
It gave me my heart, which shakes its frame
when I look at the fruit of the human brain
when I look at good ones so far from bad ones
when I look at the bottom of your light-color eyes.
Thanks to life which has given me so much
It has given me laughter and it has given me tears
thus I distinguish between joy and pain
they are all elements of my song and of your song
which is all one and the same.
  • This is the english translation. It doesn't quite capture the essence of the spanish version......which comes across in a more dramatic manner I think.

Mauvais - what are your languages?

    Eggheads of the World Unite

    Terri
  • That was beautiful. Who wrote it?

My languages are English, French, Spanish and Italian ( and Scottishisms or broad Scots )

My DH swears that my parents and I make up words all the time! I did show him a Scottish newspaper once to show him that our "made up Scottish words" were real and right there in print
  • I figured I've had enough time to think what I'm happy about and what I'm greatful for and I'll share it with all of you

I am happy and greatful for.......

    1) living in Canada and being a Proud Canadian

    2) the job I work at even though at times I feel like quitting.

    3) a roof over my head and food on the table

    4) being able to have a Christmas when others aren't so fortunate.

    5) my two wonderful and beautiful children that I wouldn't change for the world.

    6) my wonderful husband who has stood by me and has put up with me when I couldn't put up with myself.

    7) the telephone, the internet and automobiles!

    8) my wonderful new friends on the internet that I have met on this site

    9) going to the beach on a hot summers day

    10) that I am a survivor, knowing that what ever comes my way that I will be able to handle it

    11) a nice hot bath and a good book

    12) zinfindel

    13) hot tea on a cold winters night

    14) being able to snuggle with my husband in bed

    15) my vibrator!!!!!

    16) listening to xmas music on xmas eve, drinking wine and waiting for Santa to come

    17) the smiles on family/friends faces when they receive an unexpected gift from me

That's all I can think of for now. I'm sure there is alot more if I tap my brains! LOL
  • Lovely, Kelly and Terri. Thank you for sharing.

    Lois
  • Beautiful, Lois. Thank you for sharing with us. (do I keep saying that to everyone? Excuse me. I'm just so happy to read all of these happy things.)
  • ELLIS!! YOU HAVE CAPTURED THE ESSENCE THAT IS ME!!! Only one addition: The eggs are partially overcooked and chewy, and partially runny and disgusting.
  • I knew it was you, Den. And I forgot to mention... the eggs are not organic, and the chickens were not happy with their lot.
  • Poor chickens.
