Exactly Bobbi. My youngest daughter ~ when she was in high school ~ and had friends over ~ used to shut my bedroom door. She was embarassed for her friends to know that we slept in different places. First off ~ none of their **** business. Secondly ~ I think it is probably more common than some people think. And just because you sleep in different beds ~ doesn't mean you don't love each other any more or anything like that. You just need your sleep to function.

Sorry for the little rant. Youngest DD was almost obsessed with what people thought. She hardly ever had friends over ~ because she thought DH and I were a couple weirdos. We lived in a nice neat home, but it wasn't fancy schmancy or huge like the homes of the crowd she hung with. She was embarassed because she didn't have a car like the other kids did. When I took her to work ~ she demanded that I drop her off around the corner so people wouldn't know she didn't drive herself there.

That request sent me over the top ~ I guess I was evil ~ I drove her smack up to the front door and would not move until she got out. ***** upity kid.

Ok, I'd better stop before I walk down this not so nice memory lane too much longer and make my blood pressure go up thinking about that crap.

Hello goldens,
Everybody has different sleep habits and it is the same for us. I CANNOT sleep until dh is in the bed beside me with my leg touching his leg. Sometimes when I get comfortable he moves his leg and I'll move to only to have him move away again. Then I hear him chuckle because he knows how I have to fall asleep. As far as sleeping in separate rooms. He has threatened me daily for me to move in another room because I talk all night every night and wake him constantly. The sad thing is I hear myself talking in my sleep and can't stop. He's always poking me at night and it's for me to shut up. Lol. He said I carry full conversations like I would be on the phone. Crazy huh.

Going vote after work and then picking mom up and going play pokeno. I have jury duty tomorrow. Yuk. Hoping they excuse me early and I can get Xmas shopping done. We camp every weekend so I have to do that during the week. Ds went back to work today. He was glad it wasn't in Wyoming but here local. Hope it stays that way. Dh is outside splitting wood for the camp. Cold front came thru today. Very nice. I'm so tired of hot humid weather and those miserable MOSQUITOS. It's November after all it should be cool.

Gotta go
Hugs

Well, this has been an interesting discussion on sleep habits. I never realized how many people have "issues" with sleeping with a spouse. I'd love, love, love to have a king size bed, but we do not have room for one. I'm crossing my fingers that the queen size will not be too big. I'm keeping it anyway, lol. When I was a child our neighbor (which was my father's first cousin) and her husband had separate bedrooms. I thought it was normal for older couples to sleep apart, lol. Maybe it is, hmmmm..... The funny thing is we have a bedroom right across from ours with another double bed and I'd probably sleep in there occasionally but right now I have the bed covered with baby shower and Christmas gifts. It's my MIL's bed she used when she lived with us a couple of years ago while recovering from surgery. She bought a 3/4 size bed for herself and left the double bed with us for safe keeping.

I still haven't told DH about the new bed that's coming. Our double mattress is only about 3 years old and perfectly good. I don't know if we could sell it but he's going to give me grief over getting rid of a perfectly good mattress. But I don't listen to that stuff or I don't care, ha.

Well, I guess it's a big day in the US with the election. Our Canadian news coverage has been following the candidates, especially the last few weeks with the debates, etc... I saw on the news tonight that voting turnout has been quite heavy in some areas. I'm not an avid follower of politics but it's always interesting to see who will win the election. Hope all of you will get out to vote, regardless of your political stripe.

Have a good evening and take care.

Hey! We're still here! Just been a busy day!

Misti in Seattle 11-08-2012 08:12 AM

Hi everyone.

I've read a lot here in this thread, and may even have posted at some point. But I decided it is time to become a bit more active, since I definitely "fit" here.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here a bit.

Cajunlady165 11-08-2012 09:40 AM

Good morning goldies,
I'm back at work today. Yesterday I had jury duty and didn't get picked. Yay!! I was out of there for 9 am. I took the opportunity to go christmas shopping. I managed to get a good bit done. I cooked supper and helped dh split wood and went to my hair appt. Busy day. Today it's washing cloths and packing for the camp tomorrow. Brought sheets to freshen up. So I have double the wash.
Work is calling. Be back later

Hugs

Welcome Misti - Is that an old picture? You don't look old enough to be here, although we don't turn anyone away! That was just meant as a compliment.

Carbie - My DH likes to cuddle, as I do, but when I'm ready to go to sleep, then no touching. Not even his leg up against mine.

Gayle - I think your daughter was a typical teen. My step-daughter asked me not to tell people I was her step-mother, just say Mother. But now as an adult she introduces me as her step-mother. She didn't want anyone to know her parents were divorced. When I was dating her dad, she told people I was the cleaning lady. LOL

Karen3 - I heard on the news that the people in NJ who lost their power in Sandy had just got their power back when they got hit with snow from the nor-easter and lost their power again. I feel so bad for them. Just how much can they take.....no power for days in this cold weather.

I didn't lose any weight this week, but I didn't gain, either. I have been stress eating ever since my ER episode. Now I'm calmed down and it's time to get back to tracking my points.

Maryea - I got this link in e-mail and thought of you. I don't know if this would be the same as Korean cooking.

:welcome: Misty, nice to meet ya. I agree with Carol Sue, you don't look to be 50 or over.
DH is bummed out, no deer around here to hunt. I told him I could buy a whole lot of beef for what he spends on deer hunting.
Gotta run, lots to do today.

K3...I forgot to mention my surprise last week. My
Myer lemon tree is starting to bud again. It has many tiny buds and today the first flower opened up. I'm surprised it's flowering in November? Do they have two crops a year?

Karen3 11-08-2012 08:18 PM

Bobbi...they bloom and fruit up all year round....you can have good size lemons and blooms at the same time. They smell sweeter to me than oranges. I have had them blooming on the lania in Feb...It's happy if it's putting out blooms...don't be surprised when half the wee lemons fall off.

Finally got up with our friends in Barnagett....they had water almost up to front door....Kenny said it was 23' above flood and down the street is a pile of 25 boats stacked in the middle of the street. His son rode out the storm and the boat is okay. They had 13"of snow this morning. DS GMIL's house on the bay survived because they had replaced all the pilings last summer, but the 1st floor has to be guitted. Sighhhh there is a reason why they call them barrier islands....Would you believe Fema closed up yesterday before the storm and took the"warming busses" away. People don't get cold in snow storms? Kenny says he's fine but the churches. Salvation Army and private charities have been a blessing for his neighbors. Forget g'ment like Fema and then he ripped in the Red Cross. The 2 Kennys are exmarines and can fend for themselves well enough.... but both are worried about the rest of their neighbors.

Welcome Misty....thats my favorite jazz song....This like a big old coffee klatch...pull up a chair pour a cuppa and join us. We allow whines, grumpy pitches and usually have answers to all your problems and solve anything because by time you get our age you've been there or done that...another sighhhhh.....

For my 3rd sighhhhh I have to admit am green with envy at you all sleeping in beds. This bum knee gets trobbing so bad in bed I have been sleeping in the chair for over a month....If I start in bed by 2am I am fumbling around in the dark setting up the chair so I just start there and stopped the fumbling. 2 more weeks until I see the doc for another shot.I realized the other day I was bent over struggling with my walking and have spent 2 days walking slowly with up right posture....still hurts like he// but Janice remarked tonight my knee must be better?????

Cajun....you lucked out on jury duty. Your cold front got down here. It is going be in the 30's tonight. Happy hunting this weekend.

hi to everyone else....k3

Cajunlady165 11-08-2012 09:27 PM

karenfl~ I'm glad you got the cold front. Nice isn't it!!! As far as jury duty I did get lucky. Hope they don't call me for a couple years.

Bobbi~ I sure hope you can get a lemon on that lil tree. Lol I bet it smells good. We have satsumas oranges and when they bloom it smells awesome. Right now they are turning orange and are loaded on the trees. They say if you get a frost on them they will be sweeter.

Welcome misti. You will love it here.

Be back tomorrow for more personals

Hugs
