Rosie - Your pictures are really nice! I love to have big dinners, too, but I don't know where I would put 32 people! LOL I have 12 people and we don't fit around the table. Luckily, the guys like to take their plate into the living room and eat while watching football, and us ladies get the table. I would have more people over if I had more room.
Sandy is supposed to arrive here late today. I tried to call her and tell her it's not a good day, but she didn't answer! LOL We aren't supposed to get the snow we were going to get, but I'm concerned about the high winds. We have a lot of trees behind our house, and twice we have had one fall during a storm. They didn't hit the house, thank God. But I'm concerned about that and power outages. We have a generator in case we need it. I hope everyone is safe. I wouldn't want to be out there on a cruise ship! |

Sorry that I haven't been around much. Really sick last week, training schedule and craziness with too many kids around have interrupted my routines! :dizzy: (must find BALANCE) The race was a blast! We danced and laughed our way through 5k. For those of you that I don't know on FB, here are a couple of my favorite pictures: 1) my team, clean before the race. That's me in the back with the skinny braids. It was very cold (37 - 38 degrees) so we are all bundled up under our white clothes. 2) strutting through a paint spray station 3) clowning around midway through the race 4)"hugging" mom at the end of the race. If you don't want to do one, go as a spectator. Karen, glad that the storms are passing you and worried about everyone up the east coast. I loved the notes from your df. What a treasure! Yay! Gayle! You go girl. Count the good days and the bad.... If the good days are ahead - you are winning! Rosie, So glad that you are getting all the family time. karen31, you can do it! OMG! Been working hard moving d parents
Into assisted living with memory help. Dh has built in the closet organizers & running cable Into bedroom so dm doesn't have to watch The golf channel. Got my mom out of skilled Nursing care. She is mentally sharper then she has been for years. Nurse thinks its because Her blood sugar is so good. They are not free to "come and go as they please" - especially first several days while staff assesses and gets to know them and functional level. They're not delighted. So exhausted. I had to fight to get Them this. It sucks the life out of you when you work so hard and they're unhappy. Didn't have time to catch up. Did see Rie's post which was very informative. Thank you. Hope all our coastal friends are safe and everyone healthy and happy. Hope things Calm down after today and I can get back. Hugs to all! |

We had such a wonderful time at the camp this weekend. The weather was awesome. Sat around the fire, rode the 4 wheelers in the woods, put up deer stand. Sunday we went back to the deer stand to take pics for ds. I was up in the deer stand taking pics and dh wanted to go ride down past my stand to see how close they were to me. I told him go ahead. I'm going to sit up here and take pics. I had my nikon camera with me. No sooner had he got to the road I heard something to my left. A young deer that still had spots on it's butt came up to my stand. I was steady clicking pictures. It ate around my stand. It kept picking it's nose in the air trying to smell me. Dh came back a nd it took off. That was a beautiful moment and my pic came out so good. We had just put the stand up the day before. I was tickled. Might be a good spot. Just thought I'd share. Ds is leaving Wyoming Wednesday morning. Should be home late thursday night or Friday morning. We are throwing him a welcome home party Friday night. I'm so excited I have butterflies. Can't wait to hug my 20 year old baby boy. Lol. I've been vacuuming and dusting today. Trying to clean this big house. The fans were sooooo dirty. Praying for all on east coast and those inland in the path of such a bad storm. God be with you all. I have more work to do so hi to all. I have read your post and can't do personals today. I had a fun weekend. My one son and his wife and 2 step children came down from the Twin Cities Saturday morning and I made lunch and we visited until late afternoon when they went to visit her parents. They came back Sunday morning and I made breakfast for everyone and they stayed until noon. After I cleaned the kitchen and dining room up I had a lazy Sunday afternoon watching my favorite kinds of TV shows, ........... Murder investigations. I talked with the contractor this morning and they are going to start on my house next week. Yaayyy! Angela, 10 miles a day is still a lot, .......... to me anyway. But, I could do it when I was younger. Good job you're doing. Rie, it looks and sounds like you really had a good time with that race. Good, healthy fun. Sorry to hear you weren't feeling good though. Carol Sue, I hope your home and trees stay safe in the storm. I heard on TV this AM that a 3-sail 885-foot boat had to call for help because the boat was taking on water and sinking. I think the last I heard there were 2 people missing. Bless them, I hope they're found alive. Good thoughts out to their families. Bobbi, I echo your thoughts for the folks on the Cruise ships. Gayle, it sounds like you've gotten your schedule pretty well worked out. Amazing, isn't it what we can do if we really want to. You're so honest about the walking thing. Sounds like me with my daily declaration that TOMORROW I'm going to get on the ball. ;) Karen31, sounds like good plans you have for the upcoming weekend. How can you go wrong with that Friday night?? Good idea about taking a list along to the Dr. Mary, congratulations on another pound gone. I hope working with the therapist solves the pain issues. Nothing worse than chronic pain. I love your new pic, and it isn't blurry for me. I resized mine at 50%. I think your Dr. doesn't want anything but diabetes related questions at a diabetes check-up because there is a difference in what insurances pay for diabetes checks and other appts. But, that's for him to determine if it's a diabetes related question as many things are diabetes related that the average layman doesn't know about. As Karen31 says, .... he works for you, not the other way around. Rosey, you sure had fun with your granddaughter and it shows in the pics. CUTE!! I too love big family get togethers, and my house isn't that big, but we sit wherever. The guys do like to eat in front of the football game, the kids eat downstairs at card tables and also upstairs at the dining room table, and we women mostly eat at the dining room table. Grandkids fly through every couple minutes with a cookie or candy or whatever is grabbable. (is that a word??) There are about 31 in our family, plus a couple guys my kids grew up with who moved away always stop too and have dinner or supper with us. There's always room for more. Karen3 , so you finally can turn off the AC! I had mine on all summer. I figured it wouldn't run if it didn't need to and I need the humidity to be reduced in order to breathe. I'd rather have it cool than hot. I always have my thermostat turned way down at night in the winter, and not very high during the day. I just dress warm. Did anyone watch THE VIEW this morning? They had the Drs on there who are involved in the HBO documentary called THE WEIGHT OF THE NATION. I have the web site where you can watch the program in 4 different parts. Makes it nice if you don't get HBO on your channel line up. It's too expensive for me. They also have it in book form. Anyway, it explains how weight and Diabetes are so closely related, and how to get back to a healthy way of living. http://theweightofthenation.hbo.com/films Cajun, glad your son is finally on his way home! Evening all....Hope you have batten down the hatches, gathered candles and stockpiled Tpaper "cause ole Sandy is coming. At 28mph she should blast right on thru. Be tough but at least over quickly. Darn storm is so big we still have feeder bands here. Looks like she'll rattled my BF on the Eastern Shore and have breakfast with my DS in Pa. Tides will be terrible as this is the Full Moon(Harvest moon) tonight and moontides are always big.
Dee...when it's time will you adopt DH and me and get us taken care of...as grumpy as they are sounding you are doing so much good for them. Hang tough and they will realize that soon. Imagine your boys even attempting to do that for you2! OMG that thought boogles my mind. Carbie...a/c has been on since Feb. Oh and found a wee ring snake in the living room....maybe 3" long. Came under screen door. Carol Sue...my DS lives near Lake Ariel and the weather maps show Sandy circling him. He counted the trees that could get blown down. OOOOh OOh...his 3rd book comes out in November. I don't know the title yet. Rosey...Your smile makes my whole day shine. Thank you Rie...I could actually hear you all giggling walking that 5K. TuTus make a man so hot......LOL...specially with pink striped socks....phewwwww Bobbi....Are you organized yet? Get cracking girl. I must admit I'm cold. It got down to 49 last night and stayed cool all day about 65. Since it was 89+ 2 days ago that is a shocker. I have extremely warm hands (always wanted cool hands to lay on a feverous brow) and my bridge partners kept asking me to hold their hands for heat transfer. Red Hot Karen....long convolved story there....I have always loved big Gray horses and always bet on them and they always come in last. My DFIL went to the track and "Red Hot Karen" a big gray was running. He bet the farm on her and she came in last. Gayle....sounds like the pedometer is showing you that you aren't a slug...come on girl you work long hours and it isn't easy work....give yourself some pats. Karen..who is that singer you are going to see? Just looked out at the biggest yellowest Full moon....saying a prayer for you all.......k3 I tried to fix the line stuck in with Rie's stuff and lost this 7 times so it stays unedited and am posting as is |
What's a ring snake???? I'm scared to death of all snakes. Used to go rattlesnake hunting with my Dad when I was a kid. Young and dumb. Now I'm scared to be within a hundred miles of a snake. .....

A ring snake is small black snake that often ends up in a Fl pool searching for frogs and can't get out. Pretty with a cream color ring around their neck that runs down under the belly. This turns scarlet when ticked off. Non poisenous and really just interested in frogs and lizards. Don't do well in pools and definitely not in living rooms. k3

In a few more minutes and I can say good morning. I shouldn’t be up so late, but am off tomorrow and just can’t help myself ~ gotta catch up with my 3FC and Facebook families. I spent the evening visiting Sara and playing with Maddie to kind of give Sara a break. Sara fell down the other day and hurt herself. She and Maddie had fixed a Halloween treat for one of their neighbor friends. They put the pumpkin on the front step of their house and rang the door bell and ran. In the excitement ~ Maddie fell down and Sara tripped over her and fell down too. Sara got the worst of it ~ probably trying not to hurt/land on Maddie. They didn’t land in the grass, but on the hard sidewalk. I got a text from her ~ she said ~ Mom ~ I hurt myself bad. She banged up her knee, elbow and hurt her right hand badly. It got all swollen and she couldn’t move it. I tried to get her to go get it checked, but she didn’t want to. Today, she finally got it checked out ~ nothing broken ~ the swelling and bruising are lessening. She has it in some kind of splint thing. Hard for her to do stuff one handed. She wanted me to curl her hair for her, so I did that. She enjoyed getting pampered a little. I enjoyed being able to do it for her. Angela ~ I like your new avatar pic. Isabella ~ so glad to see you back and know that you are ok. Sorry you are struggling ~ please don’t let that keep you away though. Seems like a lot of us are having a hard time lately. Good morning goldies
Today is the last day for ds in the refinery from ****. He heads south tomorrow. Yay!!!!! Getting ready for his welcome home party!! His gf texted me this morning and she said that ds said when I get home, I'm going to give mom and dad a big ole hug and I might not let go. It brought tears to my eyes instantly. Can't wait. I'm sure y'all are tired of hearing about ds and how much we miss that boy. Yesterday I went to the store to get me some long sleeve shirts because I don't have any. I brought 7 shirts into the dressing room and can you believe they all fit and looked really good on me. As I was walking to the register there was a coat on sale 1/2 price. Bought that too. Yay. Now I have a few things to wear. Hoping for everyone to be safe on the east coast. Gayle~ hoping your dd is better. We didn't early vote. Sometimes we do if it's on a Saturday as we camp just about every weekend. But on tuesday we will do after work. Karen31~. We watch DWTS also. I like the all stars this year. A lot of talent. karenfl~ you would have to wipe me off the floor if I found a snake in my house. I am deathly afraid of them. The make me shake. My dh and I were riding in a canoe one time hunting and we went through some bushes and a curvy stick landed on my lap. Well I went to screaming and thrashing around. I just about flipped that canoe. We took in water on both sides. We laugh about it now but wasn't funny then. It's cool here too. I'm 56 lbs lighter than last year. I guess I'll be colder this year. So far I am. Crazy huh. Isabella~ it's been a long time. I think we all struggle in this task. I know my Goldie friends have helped me so much. We are here for you. Decorlover~ welcome. This group of ladies are awesome. So very helpful. They will see you thru this journey. Carbie~ yes ma'am I am ecstatic. He just texted me and said last day mom!!!! Sounds like your visit with your son and family was wonderful.
