Rie...thanks for the information. We took everything out of the shed, then swept the floor. I didn't find any more live mice, only 3 dead ones. We keep mice poison out there year around so they don't live long. I only found one empty nest underneath some ceramic flower pots. I took that right out to the field and dumped it so no fumes were inhaled. I didn't find any mouse dropping in the shed unless it was mixed in with some of the dirt on the floor. I've never heard of hanta virus but thanks for the warning. I'll google it when I post this short message.
I'm feeling great, a tad tired is all. With the very windy day we had, I'm sure nothing is going to get me down. Originally Posted by : |

All my life I thought Memorial Day was to honor ALL those who have passed on, not just servicemen. I guess I thought that because we would go to put flowers on all the family graves. This year they emphasized that is was for veterans who have passed on.
Gayle - Easter grass comes from the same family as Christmas tree pine needles. They can be found for months afterwards. Rosie - I am on a waiting list for that e-book from the library. There were over 100 people on the waiting list when I joined in, so there must be a lot of people who are interested in it. For me it's curiousity because they were on TV talking about how racey it is. Maryea - Dementia pillows. LOL My e-reader can be switched from day reading to night reading. It is either black letters with white background for day or white letters with black background for night. It's a nice feature as my DIL reads in bed and that way the light doesn't disturb her husband. But I don't read in bed...I would rather have a glare free screen so I can sit out on the porch to read. Karen3 - Love your little swimming smileys! |
Bobbolink, hanta virus is in my area of the country (Arizona), not sure if it is in all areas. Good to wear masks if cleaning.
Carol Sue, that is neat ye can change your e-reader to a night reading mode with white letters on black. I would like that also. Lilywinsit, hello! Gayle, thanks re the walks. Woot! To All, Mentioned or Un-, have the most glorious of Wednesdays or whichever day ye are at where ye are in the world when ye see this! *** Am2 (me, lol) has the go-ahead now to run/walk a little so started that again Monday, as am determined to get through C25K (Couch to 5K) program finally. Have tried a couple of times. I take it very easy. Have an app for it and it is so fun. Want to plant things today, too. Not sure if I'll get to it. |
Good Morning,
Starting out to be a lovely day here. Sun is shining, a slight breeze....can't get any better. I took my first cup of coffee out on the patio and just basked. What a wonderful way to start the day. Hope it continues to be a s peaceful. Carol Sue, We (southern family) always decorated all the graves on memorial day too. Which is really a good thing, I believve. Did you see what a moving speach Vice-president Biden gave? I think he understands because of what he's been through himself. You just can't understand totally unless you'vev been there. Lynn, Sorry to hear that you are having problems again. Hope you feel better soon. Rie, I know you're at work wowing them right now. Hope all goes well. Bobbi, Of course gardening is exercise. That's hard work! Plus, when you're working you don't have time to eat. Lily, Hi, Donna, How fun, having lunch with old friends. Marie, Haven't heard from you since your big bike ride. Since I know it didn't wear you out, how are you doing? Cajunlady, Congratulations on not gaining any weight on the camping trip. Hard to do. Gayle, Glad you enjoyed your days off. Hope your day at work goes well. I looked at your chair exercises. They look interesting and i'm sure they would help, get you stronger. I especially like the ones with the weights. Isabella, look forward to seeing pictures of your new and improved kitchen. Rosie, Your family time sounded fun. Any time with family is fun, isn't it. Hope everyone has a good day, Amarantha2, Wow's that hard to remember. Could we use a name? You can make one up if you want, just shorter. Glad you're starting to exercise again. I think it makes such a difference in total health. Freda |
Hi Everyone,
I did 6 days on a sulfa antibiotic that made me REALLY sick & tired. Today starts 5 more days on a penicillin type drug. Hopefully, I will be able to tolerate this better than the last one. Lynn |
Good morning ladies. It's going to be another hot day. Thank yall for all the encouraging things. It's helps so much to have a support system. Yesterday I didn't feel like exercising so I didn't but felt guilty all day. Had the blas. When I got off work I jumped into mt exercise before I could talk myself out of it again. Even did 20 minutes of jogging instead of 15 minutes. I felt so good after I was finished. I was proud.
Maryea the dementia pillow made me chuckle. Fast thinking!!! Freda I love to get a cup of coffee and drink it outside early in the mornings. Amarantha glad that your are exercising. Makes you feel so good doesnt it!!! Simnl it's ok to think about all those we lost anyway. I do. Lilywinsit hope you are having a good day running your errands. Wish all of you a good day. |
Good Morning, All...
Oh, Lynn, feel better! You do seem to attract those UTI's... feel better! Did you notice my post to you about "SnowFlower and the Secret Fan"? You'd love it, I think, especially while you're recuperating! Freda - thank you for asking! Yes, I had a very lovely time visiting with my long-lost friend! We never seem to have the time to get together regularly, so this was even more appreciated. Cool-ish today... still very pretty. I told the neighbor I'd bribe him with chocolate chip cookies if he's get my swamp cooler hooked up. Some nights are already needing the cooler. His wife said he'd do it today, so I've already made the cookies! They smell YUMMY!! Bobbi - hantavirus is nasty, nasty stuff! Glad you got all your critter remains removed! http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002358/ Nothing to report. All is well. Hope you're all doing well, too... and welcome, Newbies! |
Hi All!
Just such a busy time that I can only stop by here. Hugs to all. Rie |
Morning everyone :coffee: seems ive been up for hours. a certain little toots decided to play lol. cant get upset as shes so cute. Lynn am sry you are still feeling yucky hopefully the new meds will do the trick. carolsue, the book 50 shades of gray is very descriptive,i too was curious about it from the talk shows. its not for every one, however if you can get past that aspect of it,its well written and has a good story line. on the talk shows they called it female porn, well let me know what you think of it. right now im reading the 1st in a series of 3 called Fall of Giants by ken follet, it follows a host of folks during the wars in europe. hoping you all have a peaceful day ttfn rosey

Went to the gym today finally and it felt good but we were both tired so only did 15 min on the bike, 10 min on the treadmill and I did less reps on my machines. When I was on my 3rd machine, I got a call so actually didn't even finish it. But at least I got started back to it. We haven't been sleeping well. Last night about an hour after I got to sleep last night the phone rang. It was a guy apparently (judging by the number) from China! I couldn't understand him and perhaps he couldn't understand me. He hung up as soon as I asked who he was calling for. It's been a week of strange things happening at night..so we haven't gotten much sleep.
Jess - That mouse virus sounds awful! I found a mouse nest behind our TV once. Shows how often I clean back there! I only discovered it when the babies started crawling out one at a time. First time dh threw the baby outside and the second time I called a neighbor guy...I'm a girly girl and don't touch mice.:o But I'm not sure what I did about the nest...I may have handled it so glad no one caught anything. I remember the the babies were just skin and bone, poor little things...and the nest had thread and carpet and all kinds of bits of things in it. Mama was doing the best she could...and behind the TV was probably a nice warm place. Glynne - Glad you're enjoying the chair dancing. I think anything that gets us moving is good and if we enjoy it we are more likely to do it. I looked at the website and it looks like a video I used to have. I used it a long time and then gave it to my sister to try to get her moving. Not sure how often she uses it though. Well, not much going on here. You all have a good day! ETA: Forgot to mention I got another small prize today. I won a toy dozer...I think it's a toy bulldozer. It will go to one of my young gs. That makes four small wins this month. Better than last month at least. ;-) |
Howdy...Beryl is about gone...Weather fools say we got 9"of rain....9! Nah that is too much and rainy season doesn't start until Friday.
Lynn...so sorry you are more meds. Boy I can relate to them leaving you halfsick! I planned on doing personnals but DH likes to have company while he is watching that darn movie The Hatfields and McCoys. Let's see they shot them, blast them, hang them and then pray for them over and over and over...Don't doubt that is the same script for tonight. Secret to watching is put on closed caps....easier to understand the Southern mountain dialect. Got my 3rd Brit series...will spent the weekend with"Pie in the Sky." Detective Inspector Henry Crabbe either detecting or cooking in his dream restaurant. Fuzzy face gentleman who looks like my Dh. Dh is calling.....thought I had an hour more byyyyyyyye k3 |
My legs are really hurting today from the quad exercises I did. That means I gave the muscles a good workout! I am not going to let it deter me. I have been making an effort to not use my arms to push off when I get up out of a chair. I wish I had known before that weak quad muscles were causing that. I thought it was just old age. I think this will help me with stairs, too.
Lynn - I'm sorry to hear you're having problems with the UTI again. I hope these meds get rid of it once and for all. I haven't had one for ages, knock wood! Cajun - I don't know why we have to push ourselves to exercise, when we know how good it makes us feel afterwards. Gayle - LOL on the watering! In the 2 days after I made the comment that God wasn't doing his share of the work we had a hail storm and 2 big thunder storms. I guess he showed me who's boss! LOL We are supposed to have rain from Friday til Wednesday, so I will be getting a good reprive from watering. |
All this mouse talk is enough to curdle my blood. I'm not afraid of much but mice are my nemesis. It's my mother's fault. I have undimmed images emblazoned upon my memory of my mother dancing wildly on top of the kitchen table as my father discarded a mouse carcass. I, being only 4 or 5 years old, was terrified by this unusual outburst by my mother and joined her on the table while my father tut tutted the whole way out the door.
Lynn, hope you're feeling much better soon. Gayle, no flowers in the yard yet, except for a few straggling perennials that escaped the garden massacre. It's too cold to plant annuals until about the middle of June when all threats of frost are past. I was going to look for a few new perennials this past weekend but it was so cold I couldn't stay out in the garden centres at the stores. We're having a bad week of cold weather. Some days it's cold enough for a winter jacket to be really comfortable. Last week was so warm and this week it's "memories of winter." I had an awful night at my SIL's birthday party. Ate way too much cake, chips, dip and nachos. Actually, it was really good while I was eating, lol. My other SIL whose husband died a few weeks ago had a new granddaughter born yesterday. I hope this helps to cheer her up. The baby will have her grandfather's name as her second name. Anyway, Gals, have a good day and do as I say and not what I do (re: the birthday party). :D |
