Good Morning,

The last two days have been less than perfect but not terrible. Pretty much weigh the same as always and as usual I am glad I am not gaining at least. I was so sore from that little bit of running Tuesday, I have not been back to the Y yet but I feel better today so maybe I will go there tonight.

I am getting very excited for the holidays when I can have all my kids home with me. I just got to remember to keep the party food and drinks to one day and not the whole week.

My weight continues to drop!! I was 150.6 today! I thought I'd gain as I am sure I've eaten too many calories for a few days now so was very surprised. Now if only I can keep it down there (or lower!). :carrot: My next goal is a very teeny one...I want to see 149 again. I was only there one day.

Just got up and haven't even had breakfast yet, so will try and get back later to let you know how the day went.

ETA: I was OP with calories but carbs and fat a bit high.

Greetings All,

My weight has not really recovered from last weekend's get away in the mountains. Darn. And now Thanksgiving is nearly here. I really, really need to be careful about what I consume the next few days. On the good side, yesterday I went to the Y for an hour for step class and then raked and hauled leaves for an hour and a half. However, no time for exercise today.

maryea-Congrats on the dropping number on the scale. Way to go!

Rie-Nice self control at the party! Please send some of that my way.

Maintained my weightloss! Tomorrow I see the doctor so hope it holds.

Ter - GFY on the exercise! You'll get back on track with the eating..just takes time.

Rie - love your meals but don't you get hungry between meals and at night! That's always been my downfall.

No exercise today. Day and my eating is not over yet, but here's what I have so far,

Breakfast - oatmeal with 1/2 T Splenda brown sugar blend, added protein and fiber and 2 T NF milk.
am snack/lunch - 5 oz diet type meatloaf (had very lean beef, oats and veggies in it), 1/2 cup mashed potatoes (no fat added, just a little NF milk and salt/pepper), lots of salad (no dressing). Then I had a chocolate/peanut butter mocha...my old version pre-mf!
lunch/snack - 1/2 bottle Slim-Fast with added fiber
pm snack - ritz crackers and garlic herb cheese spread. YUM! very addicting! Also 1/2 banana.
Dinner - hot chocolate, nsa with extra fiber
even snack - more crackers and cheese spread.

ETA: whoops had to edit again because I just realized I made a mistake. I bought a new fiber supplement and started using it today and it is only 15 calories for 2 tsp! So calories are only 1514 but I'm still a little over on carbs.

Yay Mary! good for you, and good luck at the dr. Actually, today was a bit of a struggle because ds was baking pumpkin bread this afternoon. I also test before meals so I am motivated to have a space of time between eating. I used to have a morning, afternoon, and evening snack but I just got away from it. I have a planned snack shortly before bed every night. My current favorite is dannon yogurt with a little sf chocolate sauce and flax seed. It is substantial and the dairy helps me sleep.

Ther. Good job on the working out. I think it controls my appetite.

Marie, looking for you??? You ok?

See you tomorrow.

Evening all. I am still around and kicking. Actually running and ellipticalling. And eating. I think it is the last that is not helpful. I'm more in maintain mode than lose at this point but I'm doing well on making choices. Yesterday I was on the other side of the mountain getting tattoos and the left arm hurt some. I was chanting in my head that I was going to get a treat afterward. That it would be whatever I wanted it to be. That I deserved it. And my friend and I did go to the grocery and all I wanted was an apple. AN APPLE. I was craving, dreaming of a Honey Crisp apple. I strode by the doughnuts and cakes and found the bin of Honey Crisps. My friend had said she was getting a pastry and when I said I needed, wanted, craved an apple, she cocked her head and said that sounded perfect. We bought two apples and two diet sodas. Then went to Starbucks for their 2 for 1 special and ordered non-fat peppermint mochas. So even though I am not being an  I am making good choices. I think there's where my lifestyle change has actually cemented. I don't think the cement is set yet but it's getting hard for me to make bad choices. I'd say that is progress. My Thanksgiving meal is planned and there are lots of healthy choices so it should be ok. Plus the Packers play on Turkey day morning. Here's hoping they don't become turkeys...

I promise to log on more regularly. At least this week. I'm hoping the 3 day work week will be less hectic.

Yea!! My weight dropped back down to 149.8!! Hope I can retain that this time. The great thing is that this was the day I saw the doctor. Of course on his scale I was 155.4 (with clothes, shoes, and after breakfast). Still seems a little high so maybe my scale is weighing me one pound or so low, I don't care, it's the trend I'm looking for anyway and it is definitely going down! :carrot: The doctor was very pleased. My A1c dropped from 7.1 to 6.5 and my bp was only 106/68. Can't remember what it was last time but I know it was much higher. Ironically they drew blood today and my bs was high at 150, but I started the day at 166. It has been creeping up a bit now that I'm adding in more calories. I guess i need to be more careful about how many carbs I have in the evening. I'm so focused on getting in all my mini-meals with protein and fiber I forget that sometimes. So will try to work on that. But the rest of the day my bs is good.

ETA: My tryglicerides were lower too. They are coming down gradually ...at one point they were 499, about a year ago they were 399, in April they were about 215, and today they were 169! Still a bit high but I'm getting there...

Marie - I LOVE Honey Crisp apples!! My dd got me started on them. Since I started MF I have really missed fruit, but now I'm adding them (very carefully) back into my diet. GFY on making good choices...keep doing that and exercising and the rest should take care of itself, don't you think? Sounds like you were a good influence too!

Rie - I'm supposed to have one snack a day to lose or three a day to maintain. But because I tend to be a snacker (or mini-mealer!) I just kept to three I guess. I'm going to have to take another look at how I space my meals I think, but it won't be easy to change.

Ter - Hope you felt better today and got to the Y. It will nice for you to have your kids home, but will a test to your diet I know. As you say one day of splurge is ok though. Yes I need some of Rie's self-control too!

I got to the gym today...usually don't go on doctor day but glad I did. Missed stretch class but did the machine workout per usual.

ETA: Too lazy to post my intake but I was OP today.

Hello friends!

Here is my menu for the day:

Before workout: 1/2c fiber one with 2tbs ground flaxseed and 1/2 almond milk
Breakfast: one slice toast, 1/2 cottage cheese, 2 tb PB2
Lunch: chicken breast with green salad
Supper: broccoli salad, 1/3 c neptune salad
Evening: dannon light and fit yogurt w/sf chocolate syrup and 2 tbs riccota, then a little fiber one cereal with almond milk
48 oz water. - not enough
1+ hours walkitout
1286 calories. 105carbs 42 grams fiber

Marie 11-22-2011 10:07 PM

Hi all,

Rie, what is a Neptune salad. You menu sounded yummy but I didn't know what that was.

Mary, congrats on the 149.8 again. You are doing great. Honeycrisps were developed at Univ of MN (where I went to college the most - long story). I have never liked apples and my parents made me try one when I was visiting. They were available in MN but not in the pacific NW. When I saw them the first time, I called my parents as soon as I got home. to find them in the store, I scan Fred Meyer's big price per pound signs until I find the most expensive one. Then I know I found my honeycrisps. Sadly the season is going to be ending again.

I'm still so-so on the food calorie intake. I know I can be an angel but I'm not being a devil. My goal for the holidays was not to gain. I think I'm doing well on that target. I'm not going to believe my clothes will start falling off though. DH is looking to go back on swingshift after the holidays (or sooner). If that is the case, then I'm putting my angel mode into gear and losing 15 pounds. Its so easy when he's not around for dinner. I'm a morning eater, not an evening eater. So if I maintain, then I'll get into the losing mode when he's on swings.

I'm OP tonight but my weight is a little high so I may have gotten too much sodium. Besides some crackers and cheese spread...tonight was "pantry meal" night and I fix rice (I had 1/3 cup) and some Indian style chicken (can't remember what it was called but was a package meal) and it had a lot of sodium in to. Tasted pretty good though!

maryea 11-23-2011 11:40 AM

Sure enough, I gained 1.8# this week. I'm sure it's the sodium as I've been OP with calories.

maryea 11-24-2011 08:51 PM

I don't want to talk about it....
