Well, I am finally settling down and can write a quick post. I had a very good day...not exercise wise but did spend the afternoon with a cousin and her granddaughter and another cousin that I had never met! We spent the afternoon in the pool which was the perfect place to be since our temp. got up to 113 today!! My cousin brought over some Margaritas so we each had one and it tasted pretty good--- just never got out of the pool to drink it. Tim took some pictures for me and also brought us the drinks--the granddaughter had a coke!! It was really a lot of fun.

Donna, I'm so glad that you got the job that you wanted. It sounds like you are really excited about it. I will keep you and Granny/Mom in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us updated on how things are going.

Rosey, it looks like you really had a good time at the BBQ! Love seeing the pictures.

Gayle, that dress looks so cute! But of course Maddie is such a little cutie!! I wish I would get some courage and try to do something with my Mom's sewing machine. I took sewing in the 7th grade and then I dabbled with it a bit later after the kids were born but it didn't even pay to do anything with it when the kids were little. So now I just need to get brave and tackle it....

Koala, I like the virus!! I think I have had several cases of this! Really enjoy your posts.

Bobbi (((HUGS))) to you. I'll keep you and the family in my thoughts and prayers.

Karen--Glad to hear that things are going better for you. Take it easy and don't overdo it. It takes time to get over this type surgery.

Rie-- hope you had a great day!

Zoe, sounds like your day of playing hooky was just what the Dr. ordered!!

I'm sure that I have missed people and I didn't intend to. Everyone have a good night!

Hi GG's :) I didn't weigh in this week- I really couldn't face the thought of the 8th week with no loss- I am so discouraged and I would rather not know right now :( I spent the better part of today running my son to his physio appointments and grocery shopping. He is making slow progress, but it will still be about 6 weeks til he is back to where he was before he fell on June 29th. Then maybe he will get the permission from the surgeons to start the physio to learn to walk again. Watching him go through this has been one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do. I hate it and feel so helpless and so very stressed. I don't post much, but reading allof your posts keeps my sane and motivated. Please don't give up me Ladies! :)

Hello Golden Girls!

Today was a good day. I stayed on plan all day. I was productive at work and I am getting caught up. I had the house to myself tonight so I got cause up on emails and then played in an online poker tourney. It is for "play money" but I really enjoy it. I haven't done it much since ds and dgs moved in. It takes a couple hours. I just read a book and play poker when it is my turn. I came in 253 out of over 3000 people. Not my best but not bad.

I had fillet of sole, fresh tomato, fresh cucumber and a baked sweet potato for supper. A feast! The only down side was that I had a low blood sugar episode before I ate. Pretty rare for me. I think I just waited to long to eat supper and I had a low carb day.

I had forgotten how well the miracle grow plant sticks work. I used them before I left and came home to a houseplant explosion! My spiderplant has about 6 new babies.

Have we heard from Marie today? Did she leave for the trip?

Karenfl. I loved the hug story. You sound more like yourself every day.

TeaGranny. I am so sorry about your son's struggles. Only other mothers will understand how hard it is for you to watch what is happening. I wonder if the stress is contributing to your long plateau? I am glad that you can get some comfort from reading here. Dont worry, we will hang in there with you.

Bobbi, sorry about your dad. That is so hard when they find themselves alone. Hopefully, he finds some comfort in talking to your mom.

Mary, I am sorry about ds difficulties and I hope that something works out.

Well, sorry for the missed personals. I am tired and I am going to relax and watch "Chopped". Later.

Rie

Tea....I grew up in a house that firmly believed in trolls. That they, nasty buggers, did all kinds of things. Like hid the car keys, spoiled the milk, broke a toy(not me) and scared the cat. If something is missing or wrong. you just gave up and said out loud.....okay troll you win keep it. That's whats happen to your poundage loss.....say out loud the troll wins and whoooooosh you'll start lossing again. Try it can't hurt.

Bobbie...So sorry about your DF. I added him to my prayers.

Rie...what a nice evening. I would love some quiet me time.

Karen...Tell us more about the new cousin? How do you find a new loss cousin?

Mary....Sometimes the only way to keep going is put you head down and chug along. Like the little engine....saying I think I can.

Zoe...I said it before but girl with your looks and flare you are gonna be stunning at the wedding as is. Anything you do between now and then will just add to the Wow factor.

Still watching Emily....it is that time of year for us to start growling evil names of storms. Emily should be write poetry not lurking out there....grrrrrr

Am excited to go to brdige....just playing not directing, but that will come soon, I hope. hugs k3

Happy birthday,:celebrate: Marie, :celebrate:wherever you be!
Happy August 3 to everyone else! Happy to report that I’m still “on the wagon” and bootcamping those calories!!!! Okay. So, no. No actual exercise, and I’m ashamed of myself, but I’m working my way up to it slowly.
A truly pleasant day here in eastern Massachusetts – temperatures in the mid-seventies, and nice & sunshiny. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Okay, well, could ask to be home to enjoy it, but no use kvetching and complaining over that! I had my “play hookey day” after all.
Exactly 30 days to go ‘til the wedding. Time is flying. Dd2’s baby girl will be here next Monday, and on Sunday I’m having the family over for brunch. One last opportunity for the brothers and sisters to meet & greet before new baby world takes over. As for the wedding attire, I’m still pretty much undecided. Scary, but I’m confident that I’ll have more weight gone, and don’t necessarily want to start cobbling together an outfit until I can feel better about how it’s going to look. The bride’s mother informed me – at the wedding shower – that she will be wearing a full-length dark navy blue gown. I guess that was the closest she could get to the black she had originally planned on wearing. When the BTB (bride-to-be) told me that her mother was planning to wear black, I told her that she’d better rethink it; that black is indicative of mourning, and there hadn’t better be anybody in mourning at MY son’s wedding. If that was the case, better she should stay home, in my opinion. Oh, dear, do you detect a little hostility on this end? :D <----There. There’s my happy face (with gritted teeth). I just hope the woman knows not to wear a dress that’s TOO long – if she gets as tipsy at the wedding as she did at the shower, she’ll be tripping all over herself.
Oh, bless her little shriveled up heart! :p
ANYhoo, 30 days, six pounds down and…um…14 (?) to go. Since I’ve been averaging 2 a week, I guess it would be more realistic to hope just to keep up my current momentum and lose 8 more by the day of the wedding. We’ll see.
Ds stopped in last night; he seems very happy, feeling very good about things; I think I may have mentioned that they’d made an offer on a house – gorgeous place, with 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, completely finished basement, and just about an acre and a half of beautifully landscaped yard and wooded area in back. A very pretty place in Sturbridge, about 20 minutes from Worcester. They’ve just had a property inspection done, and are awaiting the results. They’re looking to pass papers in mid-September and be moved in for the holidays. Once that happens, I will just sit back and take one big deep breath – my last little chick will be settled in his own house and ready to start his own family.
Good for you, staying OP, Rie/Val. We can do this together. Wow, doesn’t it feel good not to be going it alone anymore? In YOUR case, take off another few pounds, and nobody will be believing that you’re a granny at all…in the pictures from your vacation, you already look like you could’ve been mother to those two little guys!
Hi Tea – yup. I sure do hate those scales sometimes. But, I betcha sooner or later you’ll see an unexpectedly big drop. It sometimes seems to go that way. One other thought would be for you to try the Wendie (calorie cycling) plan that I use. It keeps your metabolism buzzing along instead of slowing down the way it does when you eat a continuously restricted diet. I’m sending good and healing thoughts your way for your ds – what a journey this has been for you both!
Cute little video of you gals in the pool, KarenMo. Now, that’s the life, I must say! :dancer:
So sorry about your dad, Bobbi. It certainly sounds like he’s yearning to be with your mom; we’ll just hope for no further accidents or pain – and an easy transition when his time comes.
Hugs are good medicine, K3 – I prescribe many more. You are sounding better and better, and that makes ME happier and happier! :D
Mary, you and I could start an “Easy Gainers Club”, I swear! If I don’t watch every morsel of food that passes through my lips, I can gain 10 pounds overnight. AND, when it comes to losing, it’s a day-to-day, ounce-at-a-time struggle. SO not fair! :tantrum:
PT, yep, my meals are tasty, but don’t for a minute imagine that I wouldn’t trade one for a candy bar in a heartbeat! Hmmmm….fresh tomato (yum) or chocolate candy bar (DOUBLE yum!!!)…no contest.
Okay, well, I’ll catch up with everyone else later…have a great day, y’all!!
L

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MISSY MARIE........
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!! :cheer::woo:

Good Morning, All…

A little bit of rain in the night… everything is so clean and sparkly! I love it… until about 10 a.m.!!

KarenFL – sounds like every day is a bit better. I’m glad you’re using the hand weights. Anything you can do to strengthen those cut muscles will help. One of these mornings you’ll wake up feeling downright perky! And I’m so glad you’re playing bridge again! If it wasn’t for your bridge group, we would never have known what happened to you when you fell off the face of the 3FC earth! Enjoy!

I got a little weepy over your hug-with-DH story! That was really sweet! I’m glad you have him with you.

Bobbi – I had ½ a zucchini in the refrigerator that needed cooking, so I just sliced it, added some sliced onion, some garlic w/pepper seasoning and stir fried it. I ate the entire thing… so good! I could live on vegetables only, I think.

I’m thinking good thoughts for you and for your dad.

TeaGranny – thanks for the update on your son. I’ve wondered about him so often. And I’m sorry you’re so discouraged. There are “tricks” that some diets recommend for blasting off a plateau. If you’re interested, you can PM me. I don’t think they’d be acceptable here, because they’re a little off the wall.

PT/Zoe – a tipsy MIL would be such an entertaining story, especially if she trips on her elegant gown and goes headfirst into the pool! It would be a sort of divine retribution! Do you like the soon-to-be DIL? And you aren’t the only one, my friend, who can do a massive weight gain overnight! HOW does someone put on 86.49# in ONE WEEK? I think it can be done!! I’m almost sure I’ve done it!

Nothing exciting on the agenda today. I did some domestic drudgery yesterday, which I think should suffice for the entire month of August! A Mary, I am NOT!

Stay cool, everyone!

Marie 08-03-2011 11:07 AM

Happy Birthday Gayle!!!! :hat::hat::hat::dance::wizard::bday2you::bday2you: :balloons::woo::bday2:Here in SF, the weather is gorgeous and I had a free mocha from the coffee place. I swear we share a cool day of the year.

Thanks for the b-day wishes and it is time to go rollercoastering. DH got really sick (getting better) and has now been assigned chief photographer so there will be pictures. Then later we're going to the ocean.

Happy Birthdady Gayle and Marie!! Hope you both have wonderful days!!

TeaGranny-- Hang in there. I know it is tough when you see your children struggling but he is so lucky to have you to help and support him every step of the way. It will get better. Keep us updated.

OMG Zoe! If the MIL does get a little too tipsy and trips on her gown--I sure hope you have a good picture to share with us!! That's too funny of an image not to make you smile! I hope their house deal goes through without a hitch.

Karen-- there are probably still lots of my family that I have never met or don't remember. So many have always lived here and my family moved to Colorado when I was just 5 so other than maybe a visit in the summers I didn't know a lot of them. I have a cousin who is very good with the genealogy and he has a fantastic family website set up. I could get lost in that site for hours! I found out I had what would have been an Uncle, whos name was Napoleon Bonepart Steddum! And somewhere along the line, we were related to Jesse James. Not sure how that fits in. But anyway, meeting up with the cousin yesterday it was a lot of fun and we had lots of laughs. She would be my Mom's half brothers first wifes daughter. WHEW!! Some times thinking about trying to figure it out makes my head spin!!

Well, I need to get busy this morning. I haven't done much at all yet. It is already 95 degrees and supposed to hit 110 again today.. This has been about 3 weeks of 100 degree plus weather. They say on the TV that this hasn't happend since 1954! Pretty sad when you get excited to see 90's in the extended forecast!!

Have a great day!!

Bobbolink 08-03-2011 01:24 PM

Happy Birthday Glynne (Gayle) :bday2you:
Happy Birthday Marie :bday2you:

P.S.
Thanks for the prayers for dear old dad, last night I actually prayed that God would take him home. He's lived a good long life, (97) and he wants to be united with mom. It won't be a sad event, we'll all be happy for him.
My chiropractor told me today to go get an MRI head scan, I should be better by now. So waiting for an appointment to see if I have some tumors or something else going on.
Marie and Gayle, hope you have a great fun filled day and go ahead and eat a special treat.

maryea 08-03-2011 02:52 PM

Happy birthday Glynne and Marie!! I hope you have a wonderful day!!

I did 30 min this morning in stretch class, 30 min on the stationery bike and a couple sets on the tummy cruncher machine or whatever it's called. I read a book on my iPhone on the bike and it worked pretty well. I'm sure the battery runs down fast but I was able to get the print large enough to read comfortably. With an e-reader I wouldn't have to "turn" the page quite so often though. I'll get one someday.:^:

I stayed OP yesterday and immediately my weight dropped back down so I'm off and running. So far I've done well today. I had 1/2 can Slim-fast for breakfast, a can of FRS (energy drink) on the way and at the gym...I spilled some in the car but probably got at least 80-90% of it still. ;)

Bobbi - Sorry for your loss but also understand your praying that God would take him home. I went through that with my mom many years ago. It was hard to say goodbye (I was only 24 and she was only 64) but I got to a point where I knew it was her time, and I just didn't want her to suffer any more. Her service was actually very joyful.

Karen31 - Wow, you'd better jump in the pool...too hot to work!

Bobbi & Donna - I love zucchini! Good thing too because we have lots every year even though only one plant! Boy those things can grow! I try to alternate the veggies every day but we have to eat these things. Yes, Bobbi we just try to keep them small and use for stir-frying and grilling. I love it both ways. Don't care for it so much baked in a casserole or in soup though. For grilling we just drizzle a bit of olive oil drizzled over. And a bit of olive oil or olive oil spray to saute. Last night I ate 1 1/2 cups with dinner.

Donna and Zoe - Actually black is very in for weddings anymore! Found this out when I went to buy a dress for my dd's wedding. Her mil wore black and she has blonde hair ...looked stunning! She's a very pretty lady anyway. I wore a multicolor jacket over a black tank top and black skirt. It was a silky material, the skirt has ruffles at the bottom and the jacket is kinda flashy with greens, fushia and gold sparkly things. I love the outfit but haven't worn it (or even looked at it) since. The skirt was only about ankle length, but while we were mingling with guests before the ceremony, a woman (someone I didn't know) somehow managed to step on it, pulling it down quite a bit! She didn't seem to notice so after a few seconds I said, Uh you are standing on my skirt. Tried to say it quietly so she wouldn't be embarrassed. I don't think anyone else noticed but I was so scared it was going to tear esp since she was wearing really high heels! Thankfully it didn't, I pulled it up and went on to have a wonderful day! :dizzy: I'll try to post a pic of my dress on FB sometime.

Zoe I think your doing great with your boot camp weightloss! Way ahead of me but then I goofed up for two weeks out of three! :dizzy: I'm on track now and really really hoping I stay that way! I don't think I can even afford one pig-out dinner any more. I just gain way too much too fast plus overeating once makes me want to keep eating that way.

Lyn - I'm impressed with your swimming! Sounds like such a refreshing way to exercise too esp this time of year.

Karen3 - You are sounding much more like your old self!! Hope this means you are feeling better. Yes, I'm determined to be that Little Engine...I may be slow and even break down at times, but I just keep chugging along.

Rie - Your dinner sounds good! I've been hungry for sweet potatoes. We rarely have them as dh doesn't like them and I'm not one to eat much but think I'll get the smallest one I can find and fix it soon. The poker sounds fun...I love to play video poker...my favorite game at the casinos. Just for fun, I don't win anything to brag about. OMgosh, you watch Chopped? I had never heard of it but our pastor's been talking a lot about it recently and made me kinda interested. What channel is it on? Do you have to have cable? We only have extremely basic DirecTV meaning we get almost nothing except the Filipino channel and the regular national channels and Fox.

Well, I'd better get to work to keep my housekeeping reputation in good standing. ;) I also want to go shopping for some white or cream colored sandals to go with the dress I'm wearing to gd's wedding. I hope I still fit the dress with all the weight I gained over the winter...another reason I'm trying hard to get with this boot camp thing! :^: I doubt anyone really notices the grandma but there are those dreaded photos!

Hi Everyone,

I am starting to be overwhelmed with all of my commitments. Between the online classes, the marathon training, the volunteering, doctors visits, and now some college planning meetings that I have agreed to, I am too over-extended to take a Fall photography course.

I have a tendency (as you all have probably figured out) to get too much "on my plate." I really like all the things I am doing (except the planning meetings), but I feel like I need to start scheduling some free time. My New Year's resolution was to spend less time at home on my computer - I think I overdid it!

I am also NOT eating right - too many carbs and too few fruits and veggies. I have been on a non-cooking kick and I need to get back into my kitchen.

OK - enough whining. Check back tomorrow.

Lynn

Hey Y’all,
DSD has gone to work, finally! She’s been off since Fri., & most of that time, she’s been right here. Seems she can’t find anyone to hang out with. That kinda makes me wonder if maybe, possibly, I’m not the only one who’s been on the receiving end of her sarcasm & superior attitude?!! Anyway, I’ve been mostly hiding out in my room with Qwill & KoKo & Yum Yum. (I decided Fabio was just too much excitement.) And there’s something comforting about re-reading old favorites! And right now I’m going for comfort instead of excitement. I thought it was safe to come out & catch-up with what you all were doing, earlier, because DSD was outside, “sunning”. But, when I finished reading your posts & started to reply, there she was, practically looking over my shoulder! So frustrating! It’s only 5 more days! It’s only 5 more days!

I feel like I’ve been away from here forever, & I’ve missed so much! Zoe, nice to hear you’re all “refreshed & rejuvenated” after your day at the beach. And, I see you’re still in boot camp & doing great!

Donna, you got the job! Yay! And, Granny/Mom will be having surgery & it’s scheduled for the 18th, & then she’s going to be fine, & you’ll have no more worries, RIGHT?!!

Rie, already back at work, and, I hope, recovered from your “vacation”? And, I guess Marie, you're off enjoying yours, & your birthday. And Gayle, I hope your birthday is going great!

Bobbi, maybe that MRI will rule out anything serious, and will pinpoint a tiny, little, easily fixed problem, that’s been the cause of your headaches! That’s what I’m counting on! And, sending prayers for your dad’s joyful reunion with your mom.

Rosey, great pics you posted on FB. Looks like everyone had a great time at the BBQ!

KarenFL, you’re sounding “chipper”. Yay! You’re getting better! So glad you’re able to resume your bridge playing! And, don’t be sending those hurricanes to me & your DD! They’re definitely an aspect of FL I don’t miss.

KarenMO, don’t you know you’re not supposed to “get busy” when it’s this hot?! Well, that’s my excuse, anyway, & I’m sticking to it! Wait a minute, I re-read that...., just what are we talking about here??!! I was thinking "housework", but realized it could mean "something else"! LOL! But......., that "too hot excuse" works for either!

Maureen, sorry your son is having such a hard time with his recovery, & that you are suffering along with him. Just hang in there, we’re pulling for you! And, just say Hi every now & then, so we’ll know you’re okay.

Wow Lyn, lots of swimming! You, & KarenMO, have the right idea for exercise in hot weather!

Mary, housework again! I guess you don’t have my “hot weather excuse” (this time I know what we're talking about), & you seem to LIKE housework! And how do you not lose weight with all the exercise you do?!

Lynn, scheduling some free time sounds like a good idea. You are always sooo busy! And, you call that post "whining"??!!

Darn! I hear thunder. Guess I’m going to get run off of here again! But, at least that last storm - Sun. night, I think, did cool it off a little. Maybe this one will too. Hey! to everyone I missed! I’ll be back soon, I hope. (5 more days! 5 more days! - You know what? That doesn’t seem quite as long now, after coming here & “chatting” with you all! Thanks!)

Just a quick note to let you know I was OP all day again. My bs was pretty good...not great but ok too. I ate 1440 calories and about 12 carb servings. That's the max for my carb servings but should still be ok.

My dh just asked me if we are going to the county fair Friday...I don't really want to go...the only thing I like is signing up for the drawings but I haven't won anything from them in a long time. And I seriously dread the free pancake breakfast!

Nancy - Exercise has never done it for me. guess I don't do it aggressively enough or more likely I have just always eaten way too much. I actually didn't end up getting my housework done today and tomorrow I plan to go shopping, next day probably the fair since dh wants to go I think. Saturday we will be out of town so guess it probably won't happen this week. Some weeks are like that.

Lynn - You are the busiest person I know! My life is SO slow compared to yours!

I'm headed for bed now...

ladyinweighting 08-04-2011 09:17 AM

Good Morning, Everyone,

It’s a grey, dreary, rainy day here – but at least the hot weather broke. I did my 90 minutes (6 miles) on the treadmill this morning – Saturday’s training is for 10 miles so I will skip the treadmill tomorrow.

Today I need to shop for baby gifts. Two for a baby shower for twins & one for my niece’s grandson – my first great-great-nephew!

I did some food shopping this morning and plan to make some couscous and dried fruit and apple juice. I LOVE it heated & topped with cold vanilla yogurt.

Have a great day,

Lynn

Hi Nancy,

It is hard enough to put up with houseguests when they are being nice. I wish you a speedy five days!

Hi Mary,

Around here we have a Grange Fair. My DD enters one of her knitted items every year and wins blue ribbons. Our Grange Fair Food is a chicken dinner with corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn bread. I eat a little bit of everything & my SIL finishes whatever I leave.

Karen3 08-04-2011 10:44 AM

Morning...arrrrrrgh! Emily's latest predictions show we are just out of the cone. Which has her turning North and out to sea off the whole coast. Have to wait another day for her to pass over Hispaniola mountains and what's left. Hate waiting. One cp model has her crossing Fl right over us.....nah deny that one totally. For you newer chicks we down here get treating hurricanes like nasty old relatives that show up unwanted.....kinda like Aunt Tilly who we wanna lock in the attic.

NancyNC...4 Days left! Old friends are good(almost as good as Fabio) But 4 is a doable number. DD says you all had storm last night that was more noise than rain.

Lynn...we are chipping in to buy you pink running shoes as our resident every ready bunny!

Bobbie...still saying a prayer that your DF is out of pain.

Donna...when do you start the new job?

Mary....so happy for you that the check is real.

Karen...Good thing you showed us your pink toe nails because I was about to ask if you've turn into a mermaid?

Am still exhausted from yesterday's bridge. Yup going back next week. So tired couldn't sleep well. Guess that means nap day today. After I cook Dash's turkey thighs. Love this new fry pan. It sears for 15 minutes and takes self down to temp you pick after that. Get a nice gold brown skin without having to watch the pot. Drive neighbors crazy by cooking out on the lanai. later k3

Be back later for personals. I won't be around by 2050 but my daughter/grandsons will. Triple?

Half of Alzheimer's Cases Preventable?

More than half of the cases of Alzheimer's disease worldwide could be prevented if enough people made relatively simple lifestyle changes. Evidence presented at the Alzheimer Association's International Conference in Paris in July illustrated that seven factors are associated with up to half of all Alzheimer's cases:
  1. Low education (possibly because less education means less opportunity to develop neural connections to carry into old age)
  2. Smoking
  3. Too little exercise (the leading problem in the U.S.)
  4. Untreated or inadequately treated depression
  5. Mid-life high blood pressure
  6. Diabetes
  7. Mid-life obesity
The risk factors were gleaned from research performed by Deborah Barnes, Ph.D., a mental health researcher at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, who analyzed studies from around the world that included data from hundreds of thousands of participants. Researchers estimated that cutting these risk factors by 25 percent could reduce Alzheimer's incidence worldwide by three million cases and by half a million fewer cases in the U.S.
My take? Considering that Alzheimer's cases are expected to triple by 2050 to about 106 million worldwide, it isn't too soon to adopt preventive strategies. Also, consider that most of the lifestyle risk factors associated with Alzheimer's disease, including smoking, inactivity, high blood pressure, diabetes and mid-life obesity, also raise the risk of cardiovascular disease. Making these changes would be good for your body as well as your brain. As far as low education is concerned, it isn't too late to add to your brain power by challenging your mind. I've long recommended strategies such as reading newspapers and books, learning dance steps, doing crossword puzzles, playing musical instruments, participating in ongoing education and learning a new language.

Good Morning!

I was up with the sun this morning so I saluted with a cup of really good coffee on my back steps. I tried to have charitable thoughts toward the birds who had awakened me.;) Then, since I had very little joint pain, I strapped on the shoes and went for a fast walk. They had cut the hay on the farm so my first and last half miles were filled with the sweet and green scent of alfalfa. It was really nice.

I had pool league last night and played pretty good but not great. I still get a little uncomfortable with all the comments on my weight. I hope that someday no-one remembers me as a fat girl.

Lynn, wow, you amaze me with your athletics. I am getting there - my walk this am was 2.4 miles in 41 minutes. I started doing split times to keep my speed up and it is really helping. Thanks again for the training schedule info. Even though I don't follow it strictly, it gave me ideas. So could you share the recipe for the couscous? Do you have a carb estimate? And, do you carb control for the diabetes?

Nancy, I am glad that you got some "alone time" in your house. Just a few days now.

Mary, good job with the gym and staying on plan. I hear you about the fair. Ours is in two weeks. I am going to be very good and I plan to enjoy a day of eating lots of treats on that day. I have pictures from our fair day last year and I was mortified. I can't wait to see the pics from this year. My dad has some time off right now and we can't combine the grain so we are going together.

Donna, did you do my domestic drudgery? OK, actually I don't do much every day stuff. That is how ds earns his rent.:D

Karen31, Keep on enjoying that pool! Oh no! the house isn't going to sell at the last minute, is it? You have been having so much fun this summer.

Rosey, I hope that dh's tummy troubles get better. Enjoy your reading.

Karenfl, everytime I see the weather reports I am thinking of you. I know that you sunshine states folks hate the cold but I have never seen a blizzard that would tear up my house. I hope that this one passes by you with all the rest.

Marie, thinking of you on the roller coasters! What a great idea! I can't wait for the pictures.

Bobbi, I like your attitude about your dad. I hope the MRI shows some small, fixable problem. My bestie from colorado has suffered with migraines her whole adult life with no real relief. Unfortunately, it even led to a prescription pain med addiction about 10 years ago. She is recovered but has always been hard to watch. Hang in there.

Zoe, my ex sister in law wore black to my wedding and I was very offended. However, I have recently seen weddings where the theme was black and white. Very elegant. I still like the image of her intoxicated self tripping at the wedding.

Gayle, hello! Hope you had a good birthday!

Freda, Hi! Are you having a good week?

Sorry to anyone that I missed. BBL

Rie

Something wonderful just happened to my Golden Girls page, the fonts are all huge? I must have accidently hit something and I'm not going to change it. I noticed when reading your post Rie, I was going to tell you I love the new larger printing. Then I noticed everyone's larger. Growing up in a rural area, I love the smell of fresh cut hay too. They should bottle it and sell as a fabric softner scent or room mister.

Zoe...guess what I wore to my daughters wedding? Black and white 2 piece suit. My daughter's MIL wore a ivory 2 pc. suit which I thought was too close in color to my daughters wedding dress. I can't imagine your son's future MIL wearing a long gown, never heard of such a thing in our neighborhood. Is the wedding going to be very, very elegant I'm proof you don't need to exercise to lose weight, I hate exercising. I did a few hand weights that took all of 3-4 minutes.

so, no. No actual exercise, and I’m ashamed of myself, but I’m working my way up to it slowly. The bride’s mother informed me – at the wedding shower – that she will be

Mary...As much as I love zucchini, I never cared for big chunks in my soups. But since you can make zucchini taste like the seasoning you put in the soups, I started shredding it up. Not only is it delicious but it adds so much bulk with very few calories.

Don't care for it so much baked in a casserole or in soup though.

Lynn...You boggle my mind just thinking of what you put yourself through. Where do you find all that energy? I'm thinking a positive mind is part of it, especially after losing your hubby, then having some health problems.

I am starting to be overwhelmed with all of my commitments. I am also NOT eating right - too many carbs and too few fruits and veggies. I have been on a non-cooking kick and I need to get back into my kitchen.

I collected some dried weeds a couple of days ago and made a new arrangement for my living room. I get tired of looking at the same decor, when I was small I used to change my bedroom around often. I shouldn't say my bedroom, it was shared with two sisters at one time, then only one.

Good Afternoon GG's,

It is quite nice outside today. Looks like out heat wave finally broke, at least for today. We even got a little rain yesterday, which was much needed. Nothing going on here today. I got up really stuffed up I took 1/2 a benadryl and slept the morning away. got up groggy and felt like I had wasted the day. I did the usual spiffying up the house, and took DH shopping for some new family room tables. Mine are totally worn out. They went through the grands and they are old enough now to take care, so I guess it's time to replace.

Bobbi, Your post brought back sad memories of when we lost my DGM. She was 97 and, while you're never ready to let them go, you come to realize that your trying to keep them here is just selfish on your part. To all things there is a season.....I can't say I am really happy with your doctors. You've been having these headaches for months and they are just now doing an MRI? and it took them forever to do x-rays!!!

Mary, I love the fair and I love the food. But, healthy it ain't!! I love the elephant ears (nothing but fried dough with sugar) and all the other junk that goes with it. One good thing, you do a lot of walking...if you decide to go, just remember to pick your posion.

Lyn, You are some swimmer! I always thought that would be such a fun way to exercise. Especially since I can't swim.

Lynn, Well, you kept your vow to yourself. You sure kept yourself busy.

Z, I'm seeing a lot of weddings that are done in black also. it seems to be the "thing" right now. Like you, I was taught that you don't wear black or white to a wedding. But things change and rules get broken. I did go to a wedding where all the BM's wore black and it was really elegant. No matter what you decide to wear you will show them what CLASS looks like.

Rosie, Looks like the BBQ was a big success. Are those doggies running you ragged? My little Benny is almost 15 and I'd almost forgotten how much energy a puppy has. I hope DH is feeling better. And I think going with him to the Dr. is a very good idea. Men are not good at getting information about what they need to eat (at least in my experience).

Karen, sounds like you're feeling much better. It's good to see you out and about again. I bet those bridge people are really missing the yummy food you were always telling us about (and making our mouths water).

Donna, there are times that I go Vegiterian for awhile too. And I'm fine with that, really enjoy it. Don't know if I could long term, but I think it is very healthy. Has Granny/mom made her decision about the surgery?

Rie, I love sweet potatoes. I have them often. Isn't it relaxing to take just a few min. to sit outside in the morning, before the rest of the world wakes up, and just enjoy the stillness?

I really should go do something...or not.

Freda

Hi everyone,

I got REALLY cute things for the babies. Macy’s was having a sale + I had a coupon for 20% off. I got 4 outfits (one for each of the twins + two for my new great, great nephew) for $60.

Have a great day,

Lynn

Hi Karen,

What kind of fry pan? I need a new, bigger pan. Mine is not big enough to do my protein plus veggies. Maybe I will try your brand.

Hi Rie,

Would you feel comfortable enough with your buddies to ask them to refrain from commenting about your weight? Maybe something like – “It’s just me, but I really do not like discussions about my weight. I'd really appreciate it if you would stop bringing it up.”

I will put the recipe in the recipe thread in the Sticky area. Yes – I watch my carbs, but I take meds and can have more than if I were controlling totally through my diet/exercise.

Hi Bobbi,

To make your font smaller, hold down control key and tap the minus key. To make bigger, hold down the control key and tap the plus key. My new laptop is VERY sensitive to touch and frequently increases/decreases font size.

I think you are right about the “energy.” Part of it is definitely an attempt to live life to the fullest every moment because I could drop dead/become incapacitated at any time. I just need to remember to rest every once in a while :D

Hi Freda,

We don’t have elephant ears. We have funnel cakes, kettle corn, and all kinds of fast food stuff in addition to the chicken dinners.

Hi everyone another rainy day here. nothing going on dh dr apt went well, they sent him over to hosp for a speacialized mri, focusing on his bile duct and surg site. also she perscribed another med like a synthetic pancreas enzyme to help digest fats. he feels a little better but dont know exactly whats wrong. waiting for test results and visit to the specialist next week. all the walking to diff aptments yesterday i did with my walker no wheel chair woot woot! my legs were sore that nite but a good feeling. i spent a good share of the morning taking in clothes that are too big :D one flannel blouse i made last yr was to tight after i made it and now looks like omar the tent maker made it  it went in the goodwill bag! i forgot to add that when we went to dinner with mil and family we ran into some folks i hadnt seen in awhile. they kept starring at me and as we were leaving talked to them they were so surprized and me too as they didnt recognize me but did my dh and wondered who his new gal was..they must need glasses but it was a nice nsv :D hoping you all are having a great day  rosey

Hola, Lovelies!

Bobbi – I still cannot BELIEVE no one has sent you for an MRI, after all this time, trouble, pain, discontent, and DOCTORS! Good grief!! That's one of the first things they do here when migraines are so bad! You MN folks must be TOUGH.

Your Alzheimer’s list was interesting. I probably WILL still be here in 2050 (sigh)! OMG, but we have good genes (don’t forget Aunty Ann just turned 96!). SamCat will still be here at 45… Anyway, I guess the only items I have on that list are perpetual chubbiness and virtual exercise regimens. These are easy-fix lifestyle changes, yes… easy-fix :?:!

You can easily increase the font size by looking down at the bottom right of your screen and adjusting the 100% range upward. Or, if your computer doesn’t have that, you can go to “view” up file/edit, etc. upper left and hit “zoom” to increase your font.

Mary – I hope your GD’s wedding goes off without a hitch, and I hope there’s some way her daddy can see it! You’ll be lovely in the pictures! Do share!

Lynn – it sounds like you need some “ME” time! You’re doing so much for everyone else that you seem to have forgotten yourself! What an easy way to increase font size! Thanks for that nice tip!

Nancy – I hope you’re so right, that Granny/Mom will be fine, that the job will be fine (I’m determined!)… that all will be fine!

KarenFL – did you enjoy your bridge get-together? I’ll be they were excited to see you, too! You sound ever so much better! I start the new job on Monday, and thank you for asking!

Rie – I’m sure my idea of domestic drudgery differs greatly from, say, Mary’s definition! I think “swiffing” the toilet and washing the dishes constitute a month’s worth of energy expenditure. My poor mother would be appalled, because I know she didn’t raise me this way!

Freda – yes, Granny/Mom has decided to do the surgery. She’s scheduled for Aug. 18 at 7:30 a.m., which means getting her to hospital by 5:30 a.m., which means getting this big ol’ butt out of bed by 3:30 a.m.!! OMG! She’s feeling a little needy, so I’m the one who will do the hospital with her. I hope it goes well; I just can’t imagine that she won’t feel so much better!

Rosey – have you lost another pound? I love your stories. You are the sweetest person, Rosey-of ours! I hope your DH is feeling better! How are the three furbabies?

I went shopping and bought a pair of pants and, I think, five tops. I should be set for life!

Nothing else to report. It's almost 6 p.m., and I'm getting hungry! Later, lovelies!

Good morning (evening now ~ I started this this morning, and it has taken me all day ~ little by little ~ to get it finished :dizzy: ) GG’s,

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. It was a nice day. I spent it with my work family. I had asked one of my friends there ahead of time (I don’t know who plans things) that if there was mention of having a party for me, if she would share with them how I felt about that. Last year they had a party ~ with cake and food and gifts and gift cards. I didn’t feel so bad about the cake and food, but they went over board with the gifts and money. I wished they had not done that ~ times are so hard ~ I felt badly for them to spend money that way. So, I guess the opportunity came about for her to share with them how I felt (I didn’t want to do it myself ~ and have them think I expected a party). I had kind of dreaded going to work that day, but it turned out great ~ there was nothing ~ nobody said anything ~ it was perfect. My wallflower self was very happy with that.

My daughter and family came by last night and brought a small cake, ice cream, a card and flowers. That was a nice supprise.

Yippee ~ day off today. The sun is shining ~ gonna enjoy!!

Lynn ~ I’m glad you are getting a break from the heat. Your couscous dish sounds yummy. Hope you can find a balance in your activities so that you find enjoyment without feeling overwhelmed.

Mary ~ great job being OP all day. Hope you can enjoy the fair ~ I know it must be hard to be faced with all those yummy foods.

NC Nancy ~ glad you only have 5 days left. My thoughts about “her” kind of echoed yours ~ maybe others don’t especially enjoy being around her either and have had enough of her. How are Quill, KoKo and Yum Yum? ~ One of my favorite series

Rosey ~ hope your DH is feeling less grumpy today. How are your puppies doing? What are you reading?

Bobbi ~ how is your dad doing? I think I would feel the same way when my parents get to that point ~ I would hate to see them suffer. Hope you get good news from your MRI.

Mustang Karen ~ if I had a pool and it was as hot as it is where you are ~ you probably couldn’t get me out of the pool :D

Marie ~ how is the birthday trip going ~ I can just picture you with your hair-a-flying. Hope you’re having a ball.

Donna ~ I can’t remember ~ will your job be full time or part time? And what kind of work was it going to be? Anyway ~ excited for you.

Zoe ~ you are doing well with your boot camp. Way to go. You will look beautiful. Can’t wait to see the outfit you choose. My nephew’s wedding in September ~ they are having it in black and white ~ even the cake. To each his own I guess ~ I like colorful things. My other niece wedding last year ~ the bridesmaids were barefoot ~ I kind of liked that better than my daughter’s wedding where the girls had to wear these killer spike heals that looked so uncomfortable.

Lyn ~ you are doing awesome with the swimming.

Rie ~ your cup of morning coffee and your walk sounded so nice. Hopefully those people will stop making the comments that make you uncomfortable.

Freda ~ sorry that you were stuffed up this morning and that the med made you sleepy. Hope you’re feeling better now and can enjoy the rest of your day off.

Tea ~ sorry for the rugged time with watching your son struggle to get better. We won’t give up on you ~ are glad anytime you are able to join in. :grouphug:

Hi Wannabe ~ how are you doing?

Karen FL ~ glad you are feeling better enough to get back to your bridge playing and that your pain is getting less. Hope that your friends ~ being glad to see you again ~ didn’t squeeze you too hard.

Koala-Lou ~ Enjoyed your e-mail virus list ~ I can identify with several of those.

Hello to Teati, Sherry and anyone else I’ve forgotten (it’s not intentional).

It has turned out to be a nice day. Maddie was here for a little while ~ that is always fun. Now Corbin is here ~ he is watching Glee ~ fun to share with him things he likes.

Hope you all have had a nice day. Back to work tomorrow ~ the day off goes by too fast.

Take care

Riemontana 08-04-2011 11:33 PM

Hi all!

I had a pretty good day and I am on plan.

I completed a major report today and I am on track so that I will be completely caught up from my vacation. I consider this as quite a victory because my time back in the office is always taken up with catching up and paying attention to my employees. I am frequently reminded that my management style is very maternal and "mom was back home" this week.;) I often think that this is partly about my style and partly that I have so many native and samoan employees. Their cultures are very matriarchal and it suits my style.

We also are in the home stretch of a special project: our kids are making fleece "tied" blankets. Even the kids in jail can work on them because there is no sewing involved. These blankets will be sealed in bags and given to our local Sheriff's dept. They will be given to domestic violence and abuse victims. Today we completed the initial batch of 30 blankets. Later this month I will present them to the Sheriff in a ceremony at the County Commissioners meeting. It is a nice feeling.

Yesterday I went out for a break and helped several of the youth as they harvested lettuce, beans and peas from their garden. I had a great time teaching them that the best way to eat new peas is to eat them green right out of the shell as you pick them. It made the young teacher who does the garden stuff really happy that I was out there with them. I am really grateful that his relationship with me is ok - I just fired his girlfriend. :o

This Sunday we will have our annual joint barbque with the local youth court folks. Always a good time. As I have said before, you can't do better than barbque with my Samoan friends:carrot:

Tonight I am watching a "Chopped" marathon. Mary, sorry I forgot to answer your questions about this. It is on Food Network. 4 chefs work with a basket of mystery ingredients and quickly make each course of a meal. At each course, one of them is eliminated - chopped from the competition. I enjoy it.

I hope that Marie is enjoying herself. Hair flying back as she sails through the loop de loop!

I will do personals in the morning. Night all!

Rie

Went clothes shopping for myself...a fairly rare thing for me. I bought three pairs of shoes (couldn't decide) and one purse and a pair of jeans. The shoes and purse are for my going to my gd's wedding Sat. I can take back the ones I don't want. The jeans were just an impulse buy and turned out to be too short when I sit down so they are going back to the store for sure.

My problem is I still can't decide which shoes match my dress the best...I think probably the cheapest pair which I like the least. This is a casual wedding as far as I know. My dress is a light-weight knit and is brown covered with white. The white looks like lace but really is just part of the knit. I couldn't find any shoes that actually match the brown but I bought a pair of beige strappy wedgie sandals (cheap, not real comfortable but wearable for short time), a pair of cream colored flats (kinda expensive for me, a little bit shiny but probably no one will notice except up close, cute, and pretty comfortable even with a pointy toe. The other pair is a white open toed flat with straps on the toe area and a kind of braidy (but not cloth) looking strap that goes along the side. Hard to explain but they are cute and they fit great, very comfortable, also the most expensive. Just not sure they go with the dress ok because they are so white and while this dress has the white all over the brown like I described above it gives the appearance of being more beige than white plus it also has a brown round "buckle" that the dress fabric loops through to make a tie in front. It's not a drab brown more like translucent but not really see through. That's why I'm not sure about the white shoes with the dress. I don't want to wear really brown shoes though as the dress has a spring or even summer feel despite the brown and I think a real brown would make it look less so. I might be able to remove the ring and just tie the dress in front, not sure how that would look, just thought of that.

My dh prefers the cheap shoes and I agree they probably match the best, but I don't like them very well. The bag I have right now is brown leather...it's cute and looks ok with the dress even though it doesn't match perfectly but if I wear the cream color shiny shoes and esp the white shoes.. I'm not sure that will look good. If I wear the white, I probably should buy a white bag? I don't want to spend a lot of money. What to do...:?: Why is this so easy for my dh...he will just wear his Filipino borong tagalag and any nice pair of pants he has, color won't really matter. BTW, except for trying to match up this dress, I like both the expensive shoes, wouldn't you know it!! :dizzy:

Still OP so far today and enough calories left I should be ok this evening. Did a lot of walking while shopping but didn't go to gym.

If you have any thoughts about the dress, let me know. Saturday is coming up quickly. Tomorrow we plan on going early to the fair, having breakfast there...my plan is to eat at most two small pancakes with SF syrup (usually they have it) or a small amount of regular syrup (if they don't) and a small amount of butter. Maybe one strip of bacon and bottled water. We only plan to go through one building where I sign up for drawings, and leave. In the afternoon I have an appointment for a pedicure so we can't stay long. It's more to meet up with others we know and walk around, I agree with you all the food is very high everything...fat, sodium calories, carbs....

I'm tired tonight from all the shopping as I'm not used to it..so no personals this time. Hope everyone is enjoying their evening. BTW, they changed the wedding reception so it is not a potluck...so at least I don't have to plan what to take.

Friday. Counting down…..29 more days. Weigh-in again tomorrow. :o I haven’t gone over my calorie allowances by so much as a single calorie. VERY hopeful, here, about seeing a few more pounds deleted. Yesterday I FELT slimmer – today I feel bulkier. Go figure. Heat? Nah. It’s only in the high sixties here this morning. It IS very humid. Perhaps I’m retaining some water. Of course, I haven’t yet weighed in for the week, so maybe I’m dithering on for no reason at all. We’ll see tomorrow.
I’ve had a busy week at work – trying to tie up loose ends before starting my “becoming a grandma for the 7th time” vacation week. It’s going to be a busy weekend – I have to clean my house thoroughly tomorrow, grocery shop, and babysit for the twinnies tomorrow night so that dd3 & her hubby can go out to celebrate their wedding anniversary, then the brunch on Sunday, and dd1 & her dd will be staying in our guest room overnight Sunday night in order to be at the hospital with dd2 Monday morning. (We’ll ALL be there, of course – this family clan of ours participates in everything together!) Once Isabella arrives, we should be able to get a little breathing space between visits to the hospital (dd2 will be in for three or four days because of having a C-section).
Mary, I’ve been trying to figure out what to get for shoes, too. I don’t want to buy any and cart them home if I’m not going to keep them, because I’m one of those people who never gets around to taking anything back to the store if I decide I don’t like it, or that it doesn’t fit right, or whatever. Of course, I SHOULD know what I’m wearing for clothes first, shouldn’t I? I’ve GOT to figure that one out sooner, rather than later. I think I’ve been waiting for my *new* body to emerge before deciding on an outfit….Well, fat chance of being as slim and svelte as I envisioned myself when they first set the date. I should’ve gotten into “boot camp” mode then, but kept putting it off. Like that old, old song goes…”…who’s sorry now…?” (ME) :(
LOVE the blanket project, Rie/Val. I have some friends who knit and/or crochet little caps for the premie babies in the NICUs. And, of course, since I took up crocheting again, I’ve made a sweet little afghan for the new baby, one for dgd’s bed, and am working on one for dd2’s bed. My goal is to make one for all of my (immediate) family members so that even when we’re apart, or I’m no longer around, they can wrap up in one of my afghans, and it’ll be like a hug from me. Once I finish the ones for my family, I think I’ll start making them for domestic violence victims. They certainly can use a hug or two. Thanks for the idea!
Glad you enjoyed your birthday, Gayle. I’m like you – don’t like people fussing over me – but the way your dd handled it was just right. Low key, but loving. I appreciate that way more than a whole lot of hoopla.
Glad you dodged that Emily bullet, K3. How did the bridge game go?
Are you starting work this Monday, PT? I hope you really, really love it – I know they’re going to love you!
You GO, Rosey! Those folks thought your dd had taken up with “another woman”, did they? Hah! Gotta love it.
How're you doing, Lyn? Still swimming and enjoying your summer on the cape? (Wish I was there...:D )
Freda & Bobbi (and everybody) – now that I’m hearing so much about black being perfectly acceptable at weddings, I’m a little sorry that I so firmly announced that the MOB couldn’t wear it, because I sure would like to. My son and his groomsmen will be in gray tuxes, and the bridesmaid (bride’s sister) and matron-of honor (dd2) are in lavender. My dgd (twinnie’s 9-yo sister) will be the flower girl in purple (I think), and the twinnies, in white linen suits with purple boutonnieres, are the ring bearers. Now, you know THAT’S going to be interesting. I told them they’d better not give them the actual rings, because knowing those boys, they won’t give them up when the time comes. Anyway, I haven’t seen the bridesmaid’s or matron-of-honor dresses, but dd2 tells me that the colors – the gray and lavender/purple work very well together. That will also be the color scheme for the tables and such at the reception, and I believe that the bride’s bouquet will have purple irises and whatever…well, I guess I’ll see, won’t I? I told them to mix in some tiger lilies – the orange is a great contrast for the purple – but I don’t know if they did it or not. Oh, gawd….here I go, starting to get interested in all these foolish details, when I kept telling them to keep it simple. Well, it’s not going to be huge, exactly – somewhat casual, in fact – but still an awful lot of *stuff*.
Hi Lynn – well, I guess you could call all that exercise “me” time, since you’re improving your health by doing it, but my “me” time tends to be far less productive – as in reading a book, or going (alone) to the lake and sitting in the sun/reading for awhile. I just don’t seem to manage to get much time to be by myself, and I really, really need it. My son is the same way. He says he had to “train” his fiancée to plan time each week when they can pursue their own separate interests – he plays basketball; she swims – as well as “alone” time. Apparently it presented some problems in the beginning, but now she’s comfortable with it. Now, if I could only get MY dh to understand and give me some space, I would be a happy camper!
Nancy, I swear, you must be a saint for not saying something to that girl! I mean, it IS your home, and she IS your guest! Being a guest requires some degree of graciousness, does it not? But, of course, she seems ungracious in general, given that she can’t seem to find any friends her own age, either. I think I would’ve had a “Come-to-Jesus” meeting with that child a long danged time ago! :rollpin:
KarenMo ….<blowing my lifeguard whistle>…..:coach: c’mon, now! Everybody out of the pool! (PLEASE say that none of those folks made an acceptable offer on the house! Whatever would you do without a pool, for pity’s sake?)
Koala, you still there? Where is my morning read, lady??? :dunno:
Well, enough blither-blathering….have a great day, everyone!

Hi Rosey,

Sounds like your DH and I are having similar symptoms. I have an endoscopy scheduled for mid-August. The ultra-sound of my gallbladder indicated no problems there.

CONGRATULATIONS on doing all that walking !

Hi Karen,

I will go looking for it today. My only reservations are about where to keep it when I’m not using it.

Hi Gayle,

I am just the opposite of you. The more attention the better! I guess it’s the Aries in me.

Hi Rie,

Are you thinking about doing any kind of a walk/run/marathon?

Hi Mary,

I DEFINITELY vote for the ones that are most comfortable! I HATE having uncomfortable shoes.

Hi Zoe,

GOOD LUCK for your weigh-in.

My exercise time is VERY pleasant – I make it that way so that I will always want to do it. The total package includes my coffee and protein bar and listening to audio book as I drive to the gym and reading my Nook at the gym – all things I love. However, it is such a habit now that I don’t even think of it as anything special – it’s kind of like brushing your teeth. Also, it is part of my day when I have 6 other things scheduled and part of my day when I have nothing else scheduled.

When I think about scheduling a day just for me, it will absolutely include my gym.

Good Morning! Well, I enjoyed the pool yesterday evening with Tim and listening to the all the music coming from the Vietnamese Marian Days! We are far enough away that we don't end up having tents in our yard but we can enjoy the music. It started yesterday and will continue through Sunday night. By noon on Monday it won't even look like they had been here at all! They move out real fast and never leave any trash around. Pretty neat!

Got a text message from my brother (realtor) last night that an offer for our house is coming in today!!:( Hasn't came in yet though! We've already decided that we aren't going to be to flexible on our price so we will have to see what it is. I already told Tim it better be REAL close to our asking price other wise we are staying right here! SO I'm getting on the real estate site this morning to see what may be available that we would be interested in just in case....if a new place doesn't have a pool we will be getting one! I'll let you all know as soon as I find out... Keep your fingers crossed and I really don't know which way to ask for??? DUH!!

Oh, and the lunch the dinner out, the champage and the margarita showed up this morning!! I'm up a pound!! OH! And then the other night when they wanted to see the house at 5:00, we went and ate at Arby's! SO Guess it could have been worse....

I'd better get busy and get some laundry done and I need to get the dishes and all put away out in the 5th wheel! Who knows we may be living in that for awhile before this is over!! :dizzy: LOL!!

Good Morning, All…

KarenFL – so glad the hurricane missed you! I worry about my niece and her family in Houston. They’re in the suburb of Katy, and I think they’re quite a bit more inland, but it seems like they’d be in trouble if anything big blew through. I think I’ll stay right here!

Bobbi – any news on when the MRI is scheduled? Good thoughts continue for your dad.

Gayle – the job is part time. I took early social security, and their income limits until age 66 are MINISCULE. This job fits the parameters, and the hours give me quite a bit of the freedom that I’m used to… it’ll be front office stuff, Ms. LittleRayOfSunshine greeting the patients, that sort of thing.

Rie – those kids are very lucky to be incarcerated in a place with you as a director! Your day with them sounded nice, and I could tell that you enjoyed yourself. We used to give out teddy bears to the kids affected by whatever violence; I like the idea of the fleece covers. They’d be a comfort!

Mary – did you decide on the shoes? I say, go with the comfort!!! I definitely want to see a picture of you in your wedding duds. You’ll do your GD proud, I know!

PT/Zoe – I think you should wear black if you want to wear black to the wedding. As far as what you said to new MIL-type, well… you’re old and tired and certainly don’t REMEMBER saying that, right?

Mustang – I hope the offer is NOT one you want, only because I don’t think you really want to move! Oh, Gawd, what a drag, all that packing and hauling and redecorating and getting used to a new place, new grocery store, new post office… and your home is just the way you want it. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for whatever you want me to wish!

Rosey – is it still raining there?

Lynn – I thought it was interesting that you like to be the center of attention. I’ve always been in the background, the fringes, but when I turned 60, I asked for a party. And I got one! I made up way cool invitations, and my bro and his wife reserved the church hall. We had a lot of people and cake and good wishes and fun stories and, I’m sure, quite a bit of baloney… but it was so much fun! I just loved it.

I have some paperwork stuff to do for Granny/Mom, but that’s about it on the scheduled agenda. I’ll wash my new duds that I bought yesterday, too, and will otherwise just be clean, shiny, and ready for whatever comes.

I’m missing Koala… hope she’s okay. I look forward to her posts, which I find VERY entertaining!

Everyone, have a lovely!

Just a quick note...just got home from having the MRI, a massage, chiropractor and two grocery stores. It's friday so won't hear about the MRI results until Monday maybe.
The nursing home called and wants to have a meeting with all 5 of us on Sunday. I don't know what's up, maybe they want to talk about Hospice.
I have groceries to put away and do a little ironing.
Catch ya all tomorrow.

Hello All! Happy Friday:)

I had a rare tummy attack last night and was up til after 3. The good news is that I slept for more than 6 hours but it put my day way behind. I could have easily talked myself out of working out but I am in Boot Camp. LOL So, I did about 45 mins of aerobics.

Today I am attending the funeral of one of my traveling buddies' mom. She was only a few years older than me and succumbed to breast cancer. :( So very sad.

Zoe, I think you would look so striking in black but given the colors of the wedding, it might be too stark in contrast. Just a thought...... Good luck on the weigh in.

Nancy, when is the day? Tomorrow?

Mary, go with comfortable shoes. Our fair doesn't have a pancake breakfast. Just funnel cakes, corn dogs, and lots of good barbque and asian food. Have fun.

Donna, it cracks me up when you talk about "being clean and shiny". I always feel like a melting ball of sweat in the summer! Yuk

Lynn, yes, I am signed up for a 5k in september. Part of a women's weekend that I am doing with some of my employees. I agree with you about the excercise. I have been struggling lately. However, I enjoy the fact that weekends allow me to do longer workouts and then hang out - like I'm not pressed for time.

Karenfl, glad that Emily passed you by.

Karen31, I have mixed feelings about the house. I hope it turns out the way that you want.

Gayle, so glad that you enjoyed your birthday, low key the way that you want it. My birthday is shared by one of my best fishing/pool buddies. Subtle is not our way:D It is usually an entire weekend of partying that takes me longer each year to recover from. LOL

Ok, I am heading off and will catch up with everyone later. Sorry for the ones that I missed. Have a great , on plan, friday!

Rie

I stayed OP yesterday and my weight is dropping. Can't wait to get down to where i was in Dec! I feel so determined but also so scared I will mess up!

Zoe, the dress I'm wearing to the wedding is a little snug but I think it always was so I'm losing weight to be able to wear it but just to hopefully look a bit better in it.

To all about the shoes.. I THINK I've decided to wear the cream shoes. They are the shiny ones but that is not very noticeable and they are ok as far as comfort. As far as I can tell now anyway. Of course I could change my mind.;) I have a really hard time finding comfortable shoes (and clothes!) so I am thinking about keeping the white pair even though they are a lot more expensive than I usually buy. I don't have any white shoes right now. They aren't outrageously expensive, it's just that I usually buy on sale and they aren't on sale.

I forgot to mention yesterday when making my huge shopping trip (lol for me!) I also bought two slips..two different lengths! I went for years not wearing slips as I hate them but I had one split slip and recently I've not been wearing panty hose which makes me feel rather naked under my dress/skirt and I slipped it on. It was a little tight and short but made me feel better and I like that it is like a pant and can't slip down and show..cause that's what I always worry about with slips. So yesterday I got the two lengths in a split slip to wear under the wedding dress and ended up keeping both of them too!
Whoa, look at me, the big shopping! You know I haven't bought this much at one time in years!! :D Usually if i buy two t-shirts I call it a big shop!

Zoe - you are doing so well! I'm sure knowing how you look even now you will look very elegant at the wedding! You just have style!

Mustang - Your life is sure exciting right now! The RV, the new red convertible and now an offer on your house! Wow, hope it works out well for you. Living in the trailer would be fun for a while until you figure out where you want to be. Our neighbors are doing something like that right now.

Running out of time...too much to do today...maybe I'll get back later...
