You can also go to BFC website for recipes there, but I will look through my recipes and send some of them to you. You will be amazed with the program as long as you stick to it. I myself have been on off and I am now trying to get back on track. But we are all here to help anyway we can. I look forward in getting to know you. Izzy |
Ok ladies,
I had a day that was less than what I had hoped for. My vehicle broke down this morning just as I was pulling into work. I had to leave and put it in the shop for repair, that alone put me in a super bad mood. I was already feeling a little up set because I had a lot of heart palpatations followed by light headedness and shortness of breath. I was very uneasy and felt so weak this morning, but decided to go to work anyway. Well, you know the rest of the story. When I finally got home, I got into my husbands truck and drove to Good Will, (thats my stress reliever). I handle stress in 2 ways: Shopping or eating. Yes, I did do both. I had a couple slices of thin crust pizza & bought a pair jeans. But I did have a small salad only for dinner. Though my choices were not the best, I do feel better. But I realized that I do exactly what an alcoholic does, I reach for what makes me feel safe and better. But in the long run, it help for a short while and now I am regretting giving in to bad habits. I heard about a supplement that helps craving and moods(saffron extract). I ordered right away. Then I started researching what it means to be motivated or the like of. This is what I learned. Motivation is a term that refers to a process that elicits, controls, and sustains certain behaviors. Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that is driven by an interest or enjoyment in the task itself, and exists within the individual rather than relying on any external pressure. Extrinsic motivation refers to the performance of an activity in order to attain an outcome, which then contradicts intrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation comes from outside of the individual. Common extrinsic motivations are rewards like money and grades and threat of punishment. Self-control The self-control of motivation is increasingly understood as a subset of emotional intelligence; a person may be highly intelligent according to a more conservative definition (as measured by many intelligence tests), yet unmotivated to dedicate this intelligence to certain tasks. Repetitive action-reward combination can cause the action to become habit. This phrase explains it clearly. repetitive action(emotional upset) + (comfort foods)=BAD HABITS |
Good Morning Everyone,
Had my BFC breakfast and getting ready for work. Tuesday was a crazy day. But today will be better and I will strive hard to keep it BFC. I know its necessary to insure better health. Monday night I had a lot of heart palpations and Tuesday morning I felt so weak and disoriented. The shortness of breath and nausea had me very worried. I have a Bad family history of heart dease. Mother had several heart attacks by age 55 and youngest brother died at age 58. Its scary and you want to just pretend that it doesn't exsist. But with my 56 birthday in the near future and being over weight, its on my mind. I will go forward and remind myself of just how important it is for me to lose the excess weight. I will find a way to my exercise an every day habit. Ok, got to run. Have a great day. Hugs izzy |
Izzy, I'm sorry to hear you had car trouble. I hope you got it fixed and it's working fine now. I'm a little concerned about your palpitations and weakness. Does your doctor know about this?
I am the opposite from you as far as having an exercise buddy. I like to exercise alone so I can be at my own pace. I don't want someone urging me to increase my intensity etc, when I feel that I am at the correct intensity for my medical conditions. Nor do I want someone to slow me down. I used to walk in the neighborhood, then a neighbor asked to join me. I enjoyed talking with her, but found that we would be talking and gradually slowing down. Also, there was one hill I always took for a shot of intensity. Many times we got to it and she would say she didn't feel up to doing the hill. I would turn around and go back with her when I really wanted to do that hill. So I was better off doing it on my own. I know that some people stick to their exercise better if they have a buddy. Do you go to a gym? Maybe you could makes some friends there who are usually there at the same time you are. Or find an aerobics class in your area. Carol |
Ana, I knew another Ana from another weight loss board in the past. I would be very happy to hear that you are that "Ana" as that board closed and I lost contact with her. I posted as "Tootie" on that board. Was that you by any chance? Either way, I'm glad to see you here!

Good morning and welcome Ana!
Izzy, so sorry to hear about your terrible Tuesday :-(. I Agree with Carol Sue that your Dr. needs to know about these episodes. Yesterday was pretty good up until dinner. DBF came over and I only had time/ingredients to make Penne pasta with meat sauce. There was lots of meat and cheese and I didn't eat too much of the pasta, but it was still pasta. Also had a big green salad. My friend at work just now gave me a couple packets of Miracle Noodles which I'm anxious to try. (0 sugar, < 1g carb.) Maybe I'll pick out the pasta in the leftovers and put in the noodles! I did walk outside for a mile and did 30 min. on the treadmill. For some reason the alarm clock didn't go off again today, and I was 8 minutes late and I hate that, but worse, I didn't pack anything for breakfast or lunch. Well, I guess it's Ash Wednesday anyway, so I may be fasting for awhile. Ana, the hardest part about the BFC in my opinion is when eating around others and they bring in treats, carry out pizza, GS cookies, and the like. It's really hard to resist or walk by those things, but if you were on WW, you know how it is. The other thing that really helps me is to carry around a small container of Stevia, which I use to sweeten coffee or tea. You're not supposed to add any sugar OR artificial sugar on this plan. You'll see pretty rapid weight loss the first few weeks, then it will slow down. Have a great day! |
Carol Sue & Webwoman,
Thanks so much for your concern, I have not talked with my doctor yet. My car, well its a BIG electrical probablem. I will have to let my husband handle it. The mechanic that I took it to, said it was out of his field. Carol Sue I think you are correct about exercising alone, I do well on my own. I guess what I was trying to say is that I wish I had more positive friends to hangout with. Sometimes it just helps to have someone taking that journey at the same time with common goals. But, no one can do this for me. I have to be strong and get real and learn a new way to deal with stress and disapointment. I know now more than ever, this is a must.Last Saturday night There was a 52 year old lady in my area watching tv with her husband. He went to bed and she stayed up watching her show. Well, about midnight; Her husband went to see if she was coming to bed. She was setting in her chair where he left her and looked as if she was a sleep. He shook her and she was DEAD. She had a heart attack. That made my hair stand on end. It really makes you think. I am alone a lot, my husband works out of town Monday through Thursday. I think that if something happened, no one would find me for days. But nothing is gained without putting effort forward and you get back the effort you put in. Thanks again all Izzy |
Good morning BFC chicks!
I'm hanging in there, and trying to step up the exercise as usual. Yesterday only walked a couple of miles outside, but it was brisk. This morning I actually got to the gym 45 min B4 work and did treadmill and other exercises. Although it sucks to have to get up so early, I always feel better after some exercise. My goal is to walk another 30 minutes at lunchtime. Izzy, the story about the 52 yo lady is scary indeed. We never know when out time is up so treat every day as the gift it is. Also - take care of our bodies and get moving! I have an appt with a hormone clinic after work today. They do testing and can prescribe bioidentical hormones which I think will be helpful for some of my complaints. Will let you know how that goes. Andi |
Hi again,
Ana, I forgot to ask how you are doing so far with the BFC plan? Are you going to add exercise as well? |
:flow1:Good Morning all,
Up this morning and had a great BFC breakfast and I am getting ready to go for a long walk. I bought a another piece of exercise equipment yesterday. I hope I use it. I am feeling up beat and ready to make this day a Total BFC day. I weighed this morning and I was down a pound. So I think I will try and keep that scale moving. I have been stuck in the mudd spinning my wheels for way to long. I want to get health and be here for my love ones. Webwoman you are so inspiring and I think the harmones are a great idea. I thought about it myself. I have read that it helps protect your heart. Ana, how are things going? are you beginning to feel lighter? Just one day of doing better, I can feel it. I am not so bloated. Well, while I am feeling so good ; I am out the door. Have a great day. Izzy |
Hi Girls,
Izzy, congrats on your loss! I have definitely been stalled for a while, although I’m staying on plan. Patience, patience…. I went to the Hormone clinic yesterday and decided to go through the testing, so they gave me a take home kit for saliva and blood drops. I should get it done today and put it in the mail tomorrow. I lucked out because it turns out my regular practitioner (a NP) actually works with this clinic and will write the RX for the compounded hormones! (this rarely happens, so it must be a sign ;-) Anyway, it will take about 3 weeks to discuss the results with her, but I’m very excited. Turned down carry out Jimmy John’s at work today and will eat the green salad and baked tilapia that I packed. Although JJ’s sounds SO good…it wouldn't taste as good as being slim would feel! Have a good day! |

Motivation or Dedication?

We will diffently do what we can to help. webwoman, Thanks for giving me incouragement, I really need it. Hope that you will get to the bottom of the harmone situation. I read that Red Clover Tea is great for harmones as alot of other health issues. I am also going to try Rasberry Ketone & Optimized Saffron with Satiereal, Veggie Caps to curb carvings and help shrink fat cells. I hope something helps. Izzy |
Good morning Girls,
I had a busy weekend installing, patching and painting window casing on 5 windows in my house, and have mastered the power miter saw! It really looks great, although I need to re-install drapes and valances tonight. No movement on weight, but that's probably due to my eating salty Doritos last night. I do have to say that my jeans kept sliding down as I need to go to the thrift store and pick up a smaller pair. :-) Saturday I attended a weights class at the Rec center and really got a good workout, although not aerobic. I'll try to mix the two and see what kind of results I see. Motivation vs Discipline: I see Motivation as "why to do" something. It's the why behind the goal, as in I really want to to lose weight because I will be healthier and look better. I see Discipline as the "what to do" to achieve the goal. Self-discipline is the ability to correct your behavior for the sake of improvement. Ex: I will walk on the treadmill today and attend a weight class tonight at the rec. center. Motivation and self-discipline work hand in hand. Motivation can be your initial inspiration. When you lose your initial inspiration, self-discipline can help keep you going. Let's all try to be DISCIPLINED today, all day. If we keep this up, we can all lose AT LEAST 1 Pound this week! Andi |
Self Challenges
Good Morning All,
Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had high wind & rain. The power was off from Sunday 5:am until 3:45pm. My meals consisted of mostly sandwitches. So NO change in weight this morning. Andi, I like your view on motivation and Discipline. We all can learn something from each other. Also congrats on smaller jeans. With all the work you are doing, it no surprise that you are burning alot of calories. I need to take a page from your book, and get busy. I am also adding more exercise and making myself write down what I am eating. If I look at it on paper, then maybe it will finally sink in. I have a birthday at the end of March so I am challenging myself to lose 10 pounds by then. If anyone wants to join in with your own challenge, please do so. My Self Challenge for the next 30 days: Keep a food journal Write daily in my blog Add a new exercise every week and actually DO It. Write One Positive Thing everyday to remind me that I am worth the effort. Weigh every day to reinforce the need to stay focused Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water and Take my vitamins Number Sugar & Carbs Ok Ladies, Have a great week. Izzy |
