~~December Golden Girls~~

We are about Fitness and Quality of Life after 50...
We are about Fun and Friendship after 50...

We are the Golden Girls...

There is Value in us
There is Power in us
There is Wisdom in us
And Laughter....
We are a rainbow of unique wonders,
There is love in us.
(poem by Dorothy Holmes)

Tell us a little about your life, family and goals. What keeps you motivated? What is the best thing that's happened to you since you passed the 50 mark? How about the 60 mark?
Friends laugh, cry and stand by each other, we'll be that to you!

JOLINA 11-28-2010 04:54 PM

What motivates me to lose weight?
My grandmother lived to 97, my mom to 95, an aunt to 107, my great-grandmother to 102.
I comefrom a family that has a long life span.
So I decided I must lose weight and be more active or I might not make it to 100.
I am very active and do a lot of gardening.
I lost 23 pounds since June, and I plan on losing a lot more next year!
Best of luck to everyone!

Bobbolink 11-29-2010 09:56 AM

Thanks for the update Lauralou on Rosey, we definitely have her in our prayers.
Welcome Jolina, Wow.....you do come from a long line of centenarians. My dad is 96 and still healthy and his dad was 102 when he died. On my moms side my great aunt was 103. I don't think I'll live that long because I've abused my body too many years with artificial foods, sweetners, booze and cigarettes at one time. But you never know how long we'll live and cleaning up our act is a big step in the right direction. 23 pounds is great progress in the right direction!Welcome again to the Golden Girls.

Karen3 11-29-2010 07:15 PM

Evening all.....hummmmmmmmmmm sitting here with an ice pack. I volunteed to run the game tomorrow. So have been cooking/baking since I got home at 5pm. Have the Supreme carrot cake cooling. This has everything laying loose tossed in. Coconut, crushed pineapple, raisens, and pecans. They say it is wonderful. I have never taken a bite. But it is kinda my signature cake(me and Betty Crocker). Made72 wee ham and cheese sandwiches with my secret sauce(ICBINB lite)...no one believes me when I say that....true but they'd rather have a secret sauce! Have lots of fresh vegies and a dip. Chips. And still have to make the pinwheels. Roll ups of cream cheese with chopped olive salad. Dash loves the olives....only I'd have that weird a dog! Kicked right back into the promise i made here a few years ago not to taste or eat anything i make for bridge. Funny didn't even try...thanks guys

Should be a interesting day. The people there today were grouchy and mean to each other. I won't tolerate that when am in charge. May introduce my self like "Chuckie"....I'm Bacccccccck! Zero Tolerance means just that.

Gee, Rosie's surgery is 3pm her time what time is that east Coast time? Supper time I think....I always hated late afternoon appointments. Makes a long day waiting around.....

Well back to the kitchen. Still have to pack up my briefcase and that kinda stuff .....re retireing after tomorrow.....hugs, karen3

ps welcome Jolina

Bobbolink 11-29-2010 08:46 PM

Can someone remind me what kind of surgery Rosie is having? I know she said her sisters had it done but I can't remember what exactly what. I wanted to google it and see what Rosie was in for.

glynne 11-29-2010 10:52 PM

Bobbi ~ I found this on Donna's post at the end of the Nov thread.

(Bobbi, Rosey is having a gastric by-pass.)

jess1 11-29-2010 10:58 PM

Quick update....
I just talked with Rosey's daughter. The surgery has been pooped up to 8:00 a.m., instead of 3 p.m., which is GOOD. Laura said she'd try to post tomorrow (she's in Oregon and is getting everything second hand), but if she said to call tomorrow afternoon if we haven't heard from her. She said Rosey is in high spirits (even with the GoLightly!) and is looking forward to her "new" self!

The surgery is gastric by-pass... and here's a video of the procedure: http://www.realize.com/dtcf/pages/wh...ss-surgery.htm

Karen31 11-30-2010 08:24 AM

We lost my Aunt this morning and it is very sad. But how neat is that to be able to go and meet Jesus on your 94th. Birthday!! We loved her and will miss her a lot.

JOLINA 11-30-2010 08:43 AM

So sad to hear your aunt passed away. You will miss her.
Take care.

ladyinweighting 11-30-2010 09:02 AM

Good Morning Everyone,

Did 50 min walk/run today. Holding at 150 lbs.

Going to scrapbooking today - it's been so long since we went (my friends have been ill) that I'm afraid I will have forgotten our Italy trip - this is what I will be scrapping today.

My class begins today - they have me teaching 25 students - in the past have not had more than 15. This should be interesting.

Laura Lou, thank you for keeping us posted. We care about your mom VERY MUCH and she is in our thoughts and prayers.

Jolina, WELCOME!

Karen, so sorry for your loss. My best wishes to you and your family.

Will check back tonight,

Lynn

Bobbolink 11-30-2010 10:03 AM

Good Morning Girls
Karen.....sorry for your loss, what a great way to put it, "meeting Jesus on her 94th birthday." Is that your mom or dads sibling?
Donna...you are a doll, thanks for that video of Rosies surgery. I was thinking they take out the large stomach but maybe not. I will check into it again when I have more time. I have my 2nd Doc appointment and need to get ready for that.
Prayers to Rosey:hug:

Karen31 11-30-2010 10:08 AM

Hi Bobbi, She is my Moms sister. She was one of 12 and my Aunt, who will be 84 in April is the baby and the last of the 12. She was so wonderful. And at least she never had to spend any time in a nursing home and she was still playing dominoes about 2 weeks ago and could beat just about anyone! Loved her dominoes!!

jess1 11-30-2010 12:14 PM

Good Morning, All...
Karen, I'm so sorry for your loss! I think it's wonderful that you're so close to all your aunties (and are such a good niece to them!).... thoughts and prayers are with you!

Bobbi, good luck with this dr. apptment.... I hope they figure out something that you can fix! And I LOVE your new Maxine!

Good thoughts for Rosey!

PT/Zoe, Everyone..... it's December! Happy Almost Christmas!!

ellabella 11-30-2010 01:06 PM

Yay. I'm at work again. Ah, well. I'm trying my best to be thankful for having a decent-paying job - but when I can retire, I'll be REALLY thankful, trust me.
Sorry for your loss, Karen31. Sounds like your aunt had a long and full life and that she was blessed with some caring relatives. We should all be so lucky, right? It's nice to hear how devoted you are to all the elders in your family. In MY family, I am the oldest living female. Weird, huh?Oh - I mean in my immediate family; I do, of course, have an older sister and a few older (but not close) Aunts on my dad's side. My dad was the oldest of ten children, and his youngest sister was born when he was 20. She is now in her 80's, and my dad died when he was 69.
Okay, I don't know what's wrong with me lately. All I want to do is eat! Right now I'm munching on a Granny Smith apple with peanut butter, and I'll be going to lunch in another 15 minutes. Jeesh. This just won't DO, and I mean it!
Good luck with this doctor visit, Bobbi....I sure hope they can help you!
Nice work maintaining at 150, Lynn! You're doing great!
Good for YOU, Karen3, in not indulging in those yummies. In my present state of mind, I would eat all of them, and have nothing for the
Bridge players!
Thanks for the update on Rosey, PT...I'm glad you have phone contact with her daughter. (I wish one of us had phone contact with Isabella's family. I just hope all is well with her.)
Tuesday greetings to you, Freda, Mary and Gayle....Jolina? (Hi - welcome to the GG's. We always welcome new folks warmly, and hope they stick around for awhile. It's the only way to get to know each other, after all, eh?) Hugs all around to all, and make it a good day!

Hi everyone, Hope the day is going well for you. It's actually a pretty mild day here. Raining, but much warmer than it's been. I think it's supposed to snow tomorrow. Lots of Thanksgiving goodies still lurking around. I would throw them in the garbage but DH has a sweet tooth and would not like that at all. Right now I still have, almost a full container of pumpkin fudge, a cinnamon strussel cake, almost an entire coconut cream pie, and about a quarter of a homemade apple pie. Too much temptation!!!

Rosie should be getting out of surgery by now. I pray that everything went well. Donna, when you find out please post. I know she got lots of collective prayers.

Karen, Sorry to hear about your aunt, but she had such a long life and such a loving family. That's rare and something to aspire to.

Bobbi, I hope your session with the Dr. today got better results. Enough headaches!

Lynn, you have stayed at 150 for some time now. Wasn't this after you said you were going to stop aiming for lower?

Karen3, if I cooked all that I would at least have to taste it! I admire your will power.

Z, We are quickly becoming the "older" generation. The ones that are supposed to be wise and dependable. I'm not really sure I want to be. Or am ready to be.

Make it a good day,

Freda

akrosey49 11-30-2010 04:24 PM

Just a quick post to let you all know that Mom (akrosey) is in surgery right now. I have not gotten any updates yet but do know that she was NOT nervous at all. She was excited and just ready to get it done. I am home sick today so I will try my best to update everybody later this afternoon. Her surg. was at 8am but prep time took a bit longer so they didn't start until 11am. Updates to follow as soon as I know anything. Thank you again for your love and support...
Karen...I'm very sorry to hear about your Aunt...very sad. Sending you hugs, love and prayers.

jess1 11-30-2010 05:57 PM

Update:

Just got a call from Rosey's daughter... she's out of surgery, did very well! They aren't putting her in ICU, which they normally do... it was done as a laparoscopic bypass (http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...4984047127563#), which means 2-3 days before she can go home... also much better!

Such good news!

glynne 11-30-2010 06:08 PM

Thank you Donna for keeping us posted. Rosey waited so long for this ~ I am so happy for her :D

Karen31 11-30-2010 06:41 PM

Thanks for the update Donna. I'm sure Rosey will be so glad to say that this is behind her and I know she will be excited to be able to get home again.. L

Lauralou, I hope you feel better soon. And thanks for the thoughts and prayers. We're doing pretty good here. Services will be Saturday morning so that everyone can get here.

Have a good evening everyone.

Hi Zoe & Everyone,

I TOTALLY agree. I think about Isabella OFTEN. I have even tried googling "Isabella" with "St. John's" - unfortunately, I never got her last name.

NOTE: Donna and I keep a list of our members' contact info including someone we can contact in case of problems. If you have not done so already, please PM your contact info to me. We do NOT share this info - just keep it for times of emergency.

Hello all ~

At last ~ tomorrow is my weight watchers meeting and I will get the new information. I am glad. I am embarassed to say how awful I have been lately. I am looking forward to getting back on track. It is going to be a learning process ~ the focus is to be different.

Hope you all are doing well.

akrosey49 11-30-2010 11:12 PM

Karen31 11-30-2010 11:19 PM

So glad that the surgery is done and she is going well.. Tell her Hello from us Golden Girls and we'll keep her in our thoughts and prayers.

maryea 12-01-2010 12:05 AM

so glad to hear that Rosey is doing well!! How excited she must be to start her "new" life! I wish her the very best!

Karen - sorry for your loss, but sounds like your aunt had a good long life.

Freda - I am afraid I could not endure such temptation!

I finish my offline shopping today and am just hoping the last two online orders will get here soon! My dh's gift came today. I got him a globe bird feeder. It keeps the big birds out so the little ones have a chance. I showed it to him a while back and he said he'd like to have it.

I wrapped another family's gifts and put them in a box to take with us when we leave on our trip. I am trying to wrap one family's a day.

Our car has been running fine. I won't drive it myself but my dh does. He is thinking now that it is the starter and hopes to get it checked and replaced (or just buy the part and do it himself) soon.

Well, Biggest Loser is on so have to go watch it. Did pretty well on my diet today.

ladyinweighting 12-01-2010 07:57 AM

Hi Everyone,

Off to NYC today. I am meeting my sister & my cousin. We are taking the Ferry into the city & seeing a play - Lombardi. We'll have lunch before the play. HORRIBLE day here - rainy/windy/muggy. NOT a good day for roaming around the city.

My cousin and I went to a HS in Englewood, NJ - St. Cecilia's. Before Vince Lombardi went professional, he coached football at this HS (before our time). The HS was VERY proud of him - we had a 1-room museum dedicated to Matt Talbot (a priest who used to beat himself - the priests at the school were trying to get him made a saint). We had another 1-room museum dedicated to Vince Lombardi.

I am interested to see how they make Lombardi's life into a play.

Check back tonight,

Lynn

ellabella 12-01-2010 09:16 AM

Pretty gray day here, so far – I believe we’re due to be getting your drizzle, and actually some pretty hard rain later in the day as it all moves up the coast from you folks in PA, Lynn. Let us know how you like the play – you see so many, maybe you could start a new career as a theater critic, you know? That’s the kind of job I’d like….just write, and not have to deal with too much interference.
Oh, SO glad to hear that Rosey’s doing well! :carrot:
Mary, my father became very interested in bird watching after he retired, and made all sorts of birdhouses that he had scattered all over his property (he & my mother had 5 acres, probably 4/5ths of which was wooded). Now I’m wondering what happened to those birdhouses; my mother sold the house (and acreage) and moved to Florida five or so years before she died, and she died in 1990.
Hope you’re doing okay, Karen31. You’ve had a very eventful year, to say the least!
Gayle, I haven’t been doing very well lately, either. Let’s not be ashamed about it, though, okay? Let’s just plan to do better (at some point).
Thanks for the video, PT – is it icky? As in showing what they’re doing in living, bloody color? If not, I’ll watch, but if so, I’ll be content to imagine what they must do. Y’know, what I’ve always wanted to do was get breast reduction surgery. Mine have always been too big, even when I’m at my skinniest. And now that I’m sliding into my waning years, they’re sliding right along with me. :o A good minimizer bra can only do so much, and no more. I’m thinking that it’s time to start complaining to the doctor about back aches (which I actually DO have periodically) and see if we can’t get the insurance company to foot the bill while I’m still employed and have A+++ coverage.
OMG, Freda!!! You have all that stuff in your refrigerator, and aren’t eating it? I am impressed, my dear woman! Why, oh why can’t I pass that kind of stuff up? I USED TO easily enough. Okay, maybe not easily, but I DID it. Now I’m just having the worst time….and really disliking the results. I bought DH & I those walking poles – like ski poles, but used for walking – for Christmas, and have visions of our striding out with them, weather permitting. And we’d better do it, too….I have been entirely too sedentary of late, and I KNOW it’s not good for me!
How are you feeling, Bobbi? Was this recent doctor of any help to you?
Karen3, I haven’t had pinwheels in sooooooo long! Those are SO good! And you’re not sampling them. What a stalwart you are! Oh, and congrats to your son! That’s wonderful! Good for him! (And this is about the mean, domineering mother? Hmmmmm. I’ve gotta think these are memories of something he saw on TV that stuck in his mind, y’know? Did he happen to watch “Mommie Dearest”? That might’ve done it… :dizzy:
Okay, coffee break’s over…back on my head.
Have a good day, y’all !!!
:grouphug:

Bobbolink 12-01-2010 09:51 AM

Good Morning Girls!
Just a short note, Zoe.......I would love to have breast reduction too, I'm a 34 C cup and they get in the way. I have to have the straps as short as I can get them so they don't hang down so far. I'm embarassed when I go for mammograms and I don't like hubby to see me nude. Heck...I don't like to see me nude!
Yesterday the doc said she was going to try a shot to break up the knots in my neck/upper back muscles. She didn't have time to do it yesterday so I'm driving back into town in a few minutes. Actually DH is driving me since I'm rally dizzy. Doc gave me a prescription for my migraine headaches and they make me woozy and didn't help at all.
Catch ya all later...........
P.S. Zoe, I just noticed your funny quote, Oh, crap...she's up!
Maxine's joke of the day was fitting since I waited 1/2 hour past my appointment time to get in yesterday.
Maxine says: "I fainted at the doctor's office the other day. Yeah, they actually called my name within five minutes of my scheduled appointment."!

Karen3 12-01-2010 09:53 AM

Morning...Just passing thru on my way to therapy. Game went well yesterday and haven't forgotten how, but gesh they gave me the key that only opened the front door. Not the back supply room where all the paper products etc are stored and ran out of paper plates, napkins and paper towels....and cups. Made $200 for the club. Then when I went to put it online couldn't....until almost 12M. I was so tired couldn't sleep. Read until after 3am.

Karen....so sorry that you have lost another elder. You have told some wonderful stories. I think that is the best est ever when years later you still remember the funny happy stories and keep them alive in our hearts. hugs, sweetie

Zoe....Mommy Dearest....OMG that is so close to the truth! When DS was 11-12yrs he would stay up all night during the summer watching old movies and baking.....his favorite movie star who was sooooooooo beautiful was Gloria Swanson! He was shocked when he saw recent photo of her. I gained a ton that summer....imagine waking up to fresh baked bread, cakes or pie.

Rosey...She worked so hard for this surgery. So glad it is going well. She has had a couple of tough years and now a new beginning.

Gotta run hugs karen2

ps...what the #*#*#* did you do to our weather! Went to bed with slider open and ceiling fan running. Woke up to frozen butt! Temp dropped from 80 to 45....take back!

jess1 12-01-2010 11:11 AM

Good Morning, All...
Sounds like we're all gearing up for our New Year's resolution! Some of the strong won't need to, those of you who have tons of self control and won'tpower! I want some won'tpower!! I have plenty of willpower...

Cold here, but we've yet to have any snow... ANY snow! When the WeatherGods discover that, we're likely to get buried in the stuff!

Lynn, I like the idea of you becoming a theater critic! You do enjoy your time, don't you? I was totally grossed out by the museum to the self-beating priest, though. I was brought up Catholic, too, and I had to run away as soon as I was able to get away. All I can say is "ugh"... and maybe "bah"!

PT/Zoe, the first link I posted yesterday on the surgery isn't gory; the second link I posted is. It's all so interesting! I'm glad Rosey is doing well. Her daughter is a delight! What a nice girlie.

Better get this big ol' butt in gear. Bobbi, I'm concerned about you! I hope they figure this out soon so you can get some relief! Good thoughts!!

Everyone, stay warm and dry... and safe!

Karen31 12-01-2010 11:22 AM

Good Morning! Everything is OK here. The services for my Aunt are on Saturday and I've been making some calls for my cousin this morning.

I guess my sons "thing" left for Colorado yesterday about noon. She had promised her sister that she would be back on Monday night or Tuesday morning since her sister had to be back to work yesterday----ooops! But that is the way she is-- as long as she does what she wants to bad for everyone else. I'm really hoping that my son never gets back with her but I just have this sinking feeling that he will. He called yesterday and said he was staying up at the duplex for a little while to do some cleaning. She came back Sunday night and we haven't seen him since except he came and got a DVD rental that he had to return on Monday about noon. And he talked to my husband yesterday and said he has to work real hard to keep the duplex since she has a lot of her things still there!!! Now just what does that say???? I haven't done much talking to him since he doesn't seem to want to listen and I don't want to deal with it anymore. So I let Tim take the calls from him.

Anyway, enough on that subject and I'm going to get through this week, then put up Christmas decorations and I WILL HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS in spite of everything!

Bobbi, I hope the shots help you. I can't hardly stand getting a regular headache so I can imagine how you must feel. My Dad used to have those headaches too and he would end up just laying on the couch with a cold wash cloth on his head until it would pass. Not much would get him down but those headaches sure did!

Have a good day everyone.

Bobbolink 12-01-2010 12:16 PM

I'm back.............doc just worked on my right side today, gave me 2 cortisone shots in my neck and 3 on my upper shoulder blade. I have to go back in 2 weeks and she'll do the other side if they help. She told me to stop using the muscle relaxers and the pills she gave me for the migraines since neither help.
I'm going to send out Christmas cards today, tomorrow I'll decorate the house and put up the Christmas tree.............I love Christmas!
You all have a skinny day!

akrosey49 12-01-2010 05:03 PM

Thank you all for thoughts and prayers for Mom. They certainly helped as I just got off the phone with her and she is doing splendidly!!! Sounded great and said that her I.V. was hurting worse than her tummy! She's been up and around several times and She gets to go home (to my sisters) tomorrow and will continue to recover there for around a week and then she'll get to go back to her own home where she wants to be. But she is doing great and says Thank you to all of you! :)

maryea 12-02-2010 02:10 AM

Hi everyone! So very glad that Rosey is doing well!! Thanks for the updates!

The days are getting busier and busier, even though I did stay home today. I got a little caught up with my housework and finished the laundry I started yesterday. If we get to leave I want to be sure my house is clean.

Today the pesticide guy came and he also set a big trap for mice baited with peanut butter which contains poison near our woodpile....nasty stuff but if we get to go on our trip, I do not want to return home to a family of mice. I wanted to refuse the treatment but they wouldn't let me as it voids the contract. Maybe I should have just paid the $130 and cancelled it but I was afraid dh would have a fit for me paying for something we weren't getting. But we now will have to pay for two more treatments which will be $224.:?:

I wrapped another family's gifts. That's all I can stand to do each day. I love to give gifts but don't like to wrap any more.

I made some spaghetti and meatballs tonight. Meant to use those veggie crumbles but forgot and thawed out hamburger and used it! LOL We don't eat much meat anyway, but I've got a triglyceride lab tomorrow which I will likely flunk. Hopefully I'll remember to use the crumbles another time so I don't waste them. I went over on calories today but my carbs servings were great. How in the world does someone who has to avoid too many carbs, get the fat down:?: I know the fat not only plugs up arteries but also makes it harder for the glucose to get into the cell...but gee I can't just eat protein all the time! Guess it's just another reason to keep to my beans and greens diet and not mess up so much.:o

My youngest son got married the other day. He lives in another state and we will be visiting him and his wife soon.

Bobbi - I hope the headache is gone soon. I rarely have them but I hate them when I do!

Zoe I was thinking of you today when I heard they are considering making the minimum age for SS 69. I know people are living longer but I would have HATED to have worked that long! Most women I know who are working in their 60s are so tired and counting the days!

Bobbi, Zoe - I had to laugh reading your comments about boobs! I was at a resort function once and saw this smallish slender (otherwise) woman wearing a light t-shirt with what I thought at first glance was fat around her waist, it was flopping around as she walked around the room talking to people. Then I realized it was her boobs!! She was one of those little women with huge boobs and they had fallen to about her waist!! She was not wearing a bra and they flopped and flowed about as she walked! I couldn't believe that someone would go out in public like that!! I wasn't sure to be proud of her for her courage or tell her to get out of there! LOL I used to want bigger ones but now they are plenty...and not perky anymore sad to say but that's life. I remind myself there are a lot worse things.

Have a good evening, everyone!!

Karen3 12-02-2010 09:32 AM

Morning.....arggggggggh it is 39 here!

glynne 12-02-2010 01:57 PM

Hello all,

Went to the Weight Watchers meeting yesterday and got the information on the new plan. Spent last evening reading through the stuff and trying to understand it. Today, re-doing a little booklet I had made myself with lists of foods that I used frequently and recalculating the points values of them. (I can't remember all that that stuff in my head ~ LOL.) Trying to make it as easy for myself as I can. The easier it is I am less apt to make an excuse to not do as I should.

They have changed the formula by which they determine how many points a person gets a day. They have also changed the formula by which they determine how many points a food gets. You still go about it the same way ~ tracking your foods and how many points you have used, but at the start of it ~ a lot of work learning the new points values for foods.

They say that they are trying to keep up with the latest scientific information on how the body processes the different parts of foods. They are gently nudging us to make healthier choices. More protein and fruits and vegetables, less carbohydrates and fat. Not eliminating any one of those as some diets do.

They have made all the fruits 0 points except I think avacados. Even canned fruits if they are canned in water or their own juice. I think that will help me a lot.

Taking a lunch break right now, then back to work on my booklet.

Hope you all are doing well.

Take care

Just got home from running around all morning. I had to fast overnight due to having lab work done. Should get the results in a few days. My A1C was down to 6.4 (6.8 last time) so I and the doctor were happy to see that! Guess that greens and beans diet is helping with that. I checked with him about the amount of Vit D we are taking (2000 U in supplements) and he thinks it's fine, so we are going to continue it. We don't get much sunshine.

Stopped at a new store my dh read about. Forgot the exact name but it's Harvest Marketplace or something like that. They are going to be good competition for Whole Foods and Trader Joes. I plan to start shopping there. Lots of good prices on produce but of course it is the opening so just hope that will continue. We also stopped at WG for some diabetic supplies as I've been testing more often and ran out.

Came home, got the p/u and I followed dh to the garage to get the car checked again. These people agreed with the others that the engine is still good so we are going ahead with the transmission rebuild. They gave us a good price.

Now I need to get to work cleaning house and wrapping more gifts. Still no packages that I've been expecting. Hope they are here soon!

Glynne - I considered starting up again with WW since they seem to be taking carbs into account with the new program. As a diabetic I'm glad to see that, but I hate to pay and if I just stick to my limits, calorie counting is easy (I use Calorie King software) and works, so think I'll just stick to what I'm doing and keep trying to do it better.:dizzy: Good luck with the new program!

Have a good day, everyone!!

Hi Everyone,

My class is VERY large. I have 21 students in a Graduate course. Typically, I have about 12. I REALLY hope that I will be able to give everyone enough attention.

Yesterday's play - Lombardi - was GREAT. The guy who played the father in Wonder Years played Lombardi. Fantastic acting - minimal but effective set design & realistic dialogue - Zoe, how's that for my first review? Driving to the play was HORRIBLE! My car was getting blown all over the place.

Today was my Irish Genealogy club meeting. Coincidentally, I came home to a letter from a researcher who found LOTS of information for me about one of my Irish lines (Morris family from Philly).

Tomorrow is a funeral in the morning & lunch & genealogy with an old friend in the afternoon.

SO HAPPY to hear that Rosey is doing well.

Have a good evening Everyone,

Lynn

Good Morning!
Wednesday after arriving home after my cortisone shots I crashed and slept the rest of the day and night. I had a bad reaction to the new migraine pills and was so dizzy I couldn't stand up. I'm better today, have to run in and get another prescription for them. I DO NOT HAVE A MIGRAINE THIS MORNING! The cortisone shots must have helped, praise the Lord. One good thing did come out of it, I jump started my diet because I was too sick to eat. I dropped 2 pounds and the weight didn't come back. I have a question for all you girls, what kind of computer chair do you sit in? My DD told me to get one of those chairs you sit in with your legs bended under and back and no backing on the chair. It makes you sit up straighter and some of my problems comes from hunching over the computer. She said this would help keep my back straight and not strain my neck and shoulder muscles. Does anyone use this type of chair and what do you call it? Inquiring minds want to know!
