Hi all,
Trish - I hope your shingles are better! I know how painful they can be. How's the new program working so far? Doris - I'm thinking of you in Disneyland, hoping you're able to get around ok with the injured toe! Coralee - my sisters and me, and our kids and grands make 72 people! Just my own little family make 16. My dad was one of 12 siblings, and I don't even know how many cousins etc that I have - lost count years ago. I do love reunions, catching up with all those who don't do Facebook, lol. Our Indiana weather is somewhat tropical - rain with very high humidity. Ugh! We had thunderstorms again today, for the 5th day in a row. Enough already! Hello also to Linda, Bonnie, Carol, Debbie, Pam, Tammy, and anyone else reading this. I spent most of my day today with Madison, but also got some paperwork done, and some calls made. I've been making a list of all the things we need to take to the cabin this weekend. Our town has a grouping of 4 cabins in a park, and our kids and Neal and I rented them for Father's Day, and to celebrate the twins' birthday. I just hope the weather is a little less humid! What have you all been doing? |
Good morning!
You'd think with the onset of summer that life would slow down, but we've been busier than ever. One of these days I'm going to be able to sit down and enjoy the summer! |
Hi all,
Linda - I think most of us are finding ourselves busier than ever doing all the things we couldn't do during the gloomy, cold winter months. Yay! Have fun while you can! I wanted to let you each know that I'm reinstated as the moderator of this forum. :carrot: It feels good to be back in that capacity. Our administrators Suzanne and Jennifer are very understanding, and just wonderful to work with. Today is much cooler and less humid outside. Among other things, I need to pick and wash 4 big bunches of lettuce for some friends in town. Thank goodness for a salad spinner! Later, |
so sorry I have been absent! Its been busy here on the farm. I am so thankful that we do a lot of baleage (that way we can bale the hay when its wet, then we wrap it in plastic) we have had humid, rainy weather, I think Memorial weekend was the best time for dry hay around here.
I am still walking every day, right now though I think I have shin splints, my left leg is hurting bad, took some advil, and walked this morning any way, I think I will ice it and see how I do. I have decided to do 5 laps, maybe that is what caused it? or using the clutch in the tractor yesterday and Sunday?? i have been getting all of our paperwork for our farm up to date, we farm organically and have to have records of when we plow, disk, plant, cultivate, etc. trying to compile all of my notes as I sure can't remember when we planted what! I have talked to a guy about grinding some of our wheat into flour and that looks like its gonna work, I also talked with the manager at a local store today about selling some for us, he was very receptive, he told me what the state requires from him to sell the Michigan made products. hubby didn't think I would sell enough at the local farmer's mkt. I also found another place to sell my eggs which takes a load off-I don't mind giving the extras to the food bank, but the hens need to pay for their feed! I am going to go back now and read what you all have been up to, still haven't shown a loss or taken my measurements, maybe today! Pam |
Jane - welcome back as moderator
Linda - you rock too! great work for us Pamb - yup/ older sometimes means moving stuff (like my body!) that doesn't want to be moved. good for you for inspiring me to keep on truckin' Guys, er grrls... I am a little concerned about my rapid weight loss. Yes I am dieting, yes I am exercising but the flab seems to be coming off too fast. I have a doctor's appt set for 22Jun, and I will ask her then. |
Good morning!
Pam - good to hear from you! Whatever is causing your shin slpints, I hope it's over soon. I've had them before, and yowza, they hurt! Aleve seems to work better for me than Advil whenever I have aches and pains. Wow, lots of red tape in selling organic products! I admire you for going through all that, rather than lowering your standards. I agree, the hens need to ante up for their keep, lol. Coralee - I hope your doctor can give you some insight next week on the rapid weight loss. I wish my doc could tell me why mine is so slow, lol. Actually, I already know the answer - I need to move more! :o Kim - I hope you decide to jump in and join us! :) Hello to anyone else reading this. Today I need to get groceries, and pick up a Father's Day card, too. Also need to gather the supplies we will need for this weekend at the cabins. I'm really looking forward to going. All of our kids and grands will be there, in a cluster of 4 cabins. What are your plans for the day? Later, |
Good morning everyone! I got all my morning chores done and put a pan of stuffed chard leaves in the oven, so now I can sit and chat a while.
Pam, I'm sorry you are suffering from shin splints. I know how painful they are, as I always get them when I try to run. You're brave to keep soldiering on, and I hope your doctor can find the cause and fix you up. Hooray for you, keeping your farm organic! We are 100% organic here at home and also try to recycle everything. Our neighbors are amazed at the very small amount of trash we set out on garbage pick-up day. It takes time and effort at first, but after a while it just becomes the norm. :) Coralee, I hope you get some answers from your doctor, and I hope they are happy ones! Jane, I'm like you with the weighloss. Mine is excruciatingly slow. At least we know we're eating healthily, though! Thanks for the reminder of a Father's Day card, I have to pick one up, too! I'm thinking of taking my Dad out for lunch tomorrow, just him and I. I think he'd enjoy that a lot. :) Where are you going this weekend? I'm enjoying my morning off, but I have to leave shortly and won't be home until around 8 this evening. At least today is the girls' last gymnastics until September. Cindy will still have polo on Tues & Thurs nights throughout the summer, though, so I'll still be working late those nights, but I can bring the girls over here for swimming or something. I don't have any plans for the weekend yet, but I'm sure something will come up. It's supposed to be pretty hot and humid and I'm thinking the grandkids will want to come and hang around the pool. I'm going to go check on my chard roll-ups, as it's a new recipe I'm trying out. Have a great day, and I hope your weather is as glorious as mine is today! |
Hello all!
Been awol for a few days, been real busy at work, packing up Communion and Confirmation, getting ready for a summer sale, making storage room for the Christmas items that are beginning to come in. It's hotter than  here!!! and we are not even in July. Pray that we do not get a hurricane, things are such a mess, BP won't take responsibility, the government is handling this about as good as they did for Katrina, such a mess, but God is in control and we will survive.
My eating is on and off, good one day not so good another, but that too will improve. I hope all of you are doing well, hubby watching some stupid movie that I have NO interest in, so I am here with you. You know, I am getting older, but it is SO depressing that at 51 I am getting mail advertising the Scooter Store, I mean, give me a break!!!:dizzy: Anywa I hope you all have a blessed evening. Tammy  |
Getting close to 100 posts, so to help those that might have dial-up, I'll go ahead and start Daily Chat #5. See you there!
