Hi ladies,

Pam - that is a really cool wedding proposal! Sorry about your friend losing her husband last year. It's good she has the group for support. Yowza for your hubby's leg!

Linda - the Beck diet is what got me started on recording my own personal messages on a tiny recorder. I do better with some cognitive reinforcement. I read some of Jan Karon's earlier novels, but haven't pick any up lately. Yes, you and I sure do have similar taste in books! Your swimsuit sounds so cute!

Trish - so sorry about your neighbor! Like Pam's friend, she is lucky to have all of you for support. We just never know, do we?

Hello to Tammy, Chicpanda, Carol, and anyone else reading this.

We're having our friends Kathy and Rick in this evening for dinner, then cards. Any of you play Blitz? That's what we play because it's easy to follow.

It is nearly 80 degrees here, and my windows are open. I love the fresh air!

The DGDs will be here in the morning, so I'll check in when I can.

I am really enjoying my time off. :) This morning Dustin and Amber came over and joined me for breakfast before Dustin had to go work, and I dropped off Amber at her Spring break camp. Afterwards I went to Staples for a few things, and picked up some crafts for the grandkids for Easter at JoAnn's. I finished the morning by decluttering and organizing the hutch and cabinets in the dining room and taking 2 big bags of junque over to Goodwill. So it was a pretty productive day for me. :)
Tomorrow, my morning looks open, but in the afternoon the claims adjuster is finally coming out to assess our basement damage and hopefully write us a check, :crossed:, and Dustin is going to bring me 2 yards of supersoil for my garden so I can finally get the cold crops in.

Jane,We play Blitz! :) Beck is making a lot of sense to me, and I've started doing the daily tasks. My hardest habit to break is not sitting down to eat, or eating while I'm doing something else. I'm a multi-tasker, and it's going to be a hard habit to get out of. Enjoy that beautiful weather! It's supposed to be warm and sunny for the next several days, and I'm really looking forward to it, and you can be sure that I'm throwing open the windows!

Trish, that's sad about your neighbor. We hear of things like that all the time, but it's really a shocker when it hits close to home. His wife is very fortunate to have such caring neighbors to comfort her through this, and I hope she'll be alright. We didn't have any serious flooding, but there are pools of water everywhere, and the creeks are running high.

Pam, I hope your DH's leg is OK!

Hi Guys
Just a little quibble... it's chic not chick panda. think of it like chic as in trendy... or call me Coralee. promise to sign my name more often.

Nice day today. I worked in the garden for about 45 minutes, still cleaning up from the nasty winter. One of my hedges is coming back, and 3 of the 4 test roses are doing well. Oddly the fourth rose is just sitting there... now I really know what they mean by 'late bloomer'.

Like a lot of you, I do needlework. Sunday I started a new project. I do cross stitch. This is a Japanese Angel created by Barbara Baatz, one of my favorite designers. I hope to finish it quickly and sell it on ebay, like I do with the other items I stitch.

Well off fix dinner, and portion it out for several days. Hard to cook for one.
My daughter has her own food plan. So we don't cook for each other very often.
Until tomorrow
Coralee

Happy April 1st! I love this time of year with everything waking up after a long winter's sleep. :)

It's supposed to be a glorious day today and the beginning of a long stretch of sunny days and warm temps! I'm going to throw open all the windows to air out the house as soon as the morning chill burns off. :)
I'll have Amber for a little while this morning, and plan to come home and finish up my housework after I take her to camp. I want to have the afternoon free to be outside the rest of the day!

Jane 04-01-2010 08:36 AM

It's April! :carrot: Don't fall for any tricks, lol.

Linda - I hope the claims adjuster is in a generous mood today! Sounds like you have a full day planned. Enjoy!

Coralee - your new needlepoint project sounds very pretty. I haven't been very crafty, lately. Just no time, with trying to get the garden areas cleaned up. I do a lot of meal freezing, too, with just the mister and me to cook for. Have to admit, I like having the meals done ahead. Gives me more time to play, lol.

Hello to anyone else reading this.

I'm headed to the grocery store soon, then will be spending the day with the grands. This evening, daughters Mary and Katie and I are going to watch the dvd movie, "My Sister's Keeper". I bought it awhile back, but we're just now getting to it. I read the book (by Jodi Picoult), and loved it!

Last night's dinner and playing cards with friends was a blast! Not sure when I laughed so much, and that was good for my soul, after the sadness of last month.

Have a good day. :)

TamTam 04-01-2010 11:46 AM

Good Morning all! Thanks for the warm welcome and words of encouragement, they are a blessing. Hubby at the hospital getting a renal ultrasound done, I have clothes to wash, dishes to wash and a ton of paperwork to do, but this is more fun! Actually hubby usually does all the housework because I do all the paperwork for 3 stores and it is very time comsuming. I did give him a choice housework or paperwork, I could not do it all, smart man, took the housework!! It's just he and I and the dog, so it's not like there are kids toys all over to keep up with, so it's more or less just the dishes and the clothes and the floors that need to be kept up.

Jane if you every get to go and see actual Lighthouses you will remember it for the rest of your life.

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick one this morning as I'm running late on everything this morning. I seem to be running on slow.

I started my 30 Day Block with the IE/Eden Diet combo. I've only had yogurt for breakfast and haven't been hungry so far. Decided that since the book says that I need to eat breakfast (although she also stressed the point of letting my body tell me if I need it) and I don't usually like to eat breakfast that yogurt with my coffee would be a good choice. I did my measurements and weighed this morning and hopefully will be able to break the habit of weighing too often if I put those darn scales somewhere that isn't easy to get to for a month. That is one of my goals this month. On the brighter side, I think I did manage to lose 1.5 lbs last month and 1 or 2 inches over all. Not a big loss but at least I didn't gain. I know doing it this way isn't going to be fast any way. I have managed to lose 4 lbs so far for this year so at least I'm going in the right direction as slow as it may be and I can live with that.

Jane Have fun with your Grands and your girls. I envy you since mine are all so far away from me. You just have enough fun for the both of us.:)

Linda Our weather seems to run about the same. We are in for a week of beautiful sunshine and temps in the 80s. Will be a nice change from the cold.

CatholicCajun Hope things go well with your hubby.

Coralee I love roses and had them in TX where I grew up and lived until 7 years ago when I married Tony. When we built our house here in SC, I wanted them in my front yard but the man the builder had do our landscaping said I couldn't have them where I wanted them because they wouldn't get enough sun. I thought that was crazy since I had them everywhere I had lived in TX with the same amount of sun. I think he just didn't want to change what he had done. This year we hired a man from our church to do the trimming, fertilize and some other things Tony and I can't do any more. He had to replace to of my bushes that had died last year. He told Tony he had some rose bushes someone had give him and he could replaced them with the rose bushes. So I finally got my rose bushes and we got them for free.

I better get going. I've got a lot to do and need to check on Tony. He has one of his migraines today. So I won't see him much today.

Y'all have a good one.

TamTam 04-03-2010 08:27 AM

Good Morning all. Today will be a busy day. I am working in my store closest to home today, hubby working in one of the stores that is an hours drive. Will post when I get home tonight. Have a blessed day.

Jane 04-03-2010 03:46 PM

Happy Easter to You!

Tammy - seeing a lighthouse is on my "bucket list". Not sure when I'll get to do this, but hopefully sooner rather than later. How did hubby's ultrasound go? Probably no results yet. Sounds like you are very busy in the stores, which is good for business. Maybe you'll get a small break now that Easter shopping is just about over. Christian stores are busy most of the time though, it seems.

Trish - a big YAY for you, for your weight loss and inches lost, too. The inches tell a more acurate story than the scales does! I hope Tony if feeling better today!

Hello to everyone else.

The kiddos have gone home, and the house is quiet. I got more prep work done for tomorrow's dinner, and also got the 1st of the month bills paid. It seems like we're insurance-poor! Any of you feel that way, too?

I lost a measly .4 of a pound today, but I'll take it, anyway. That makes an even 14 pounds lost since 2/1. That's like 56 sticks of butter, if I think of it that way.

Here's wishing each of you a very blessed Easter celebration! :grouphug:

WISHING EVERYBODY A BLESSED AND HAPPY EASTER

:egg: Happy Easter! :bunny2:

Jane 04-05-2010 09:22 AM

Ahh, the beginning of a new week gives us lots of promise. We had a wonderful Easter, and I hope you did, too. The kids and grands were here, and we spent most of the day outside, after dinner. Little Jackson (he'll be 3 next month) was showing off his basketball skills, and the granddaughters were playing 9-square hopscotch again.

I ate too much yesterday, but am happy to report I ran the praline-frosted brownies down the garbage disposal. They were the only food around that would cause me trouble today. Neal doesn't like them, and the kids didn't want sugary stuff like that at their houses, either. My food plan is in place for the day, so I'm all set.

Today I'm going to do some laundry and work in the flower garden. What are your plans for the day?

pattygirl63 04-05-2010 10:13 AM

Good Morning Everyone,

Jane Good job with the brownies down the disposal. I've done that with things as well. Now that I do IE and can have what I really like or want, I find there are still some foods I can't have around the house. I have bought things I wanted to only find that instead of me controling them they control me and I just have to not have them in the house so down the disposal they go.

I too am on plan as well. I got up this morning and started my exercise program. I know that if I stick with the WATP dvd that my hip will finally stop hurting. So I did the one mile today. I know they say I should do more than the 1 mile, but I've decided that since I can't seem to do more that I'm not going to worry about it. I figure that if I do the 1 mile 3 days a week and stay active doing other things that I enjoy that I'm doing really good. Sometimes we just have to learn to listen to the body and do what it can do.

We had a very quiet day since everybody lives out of state. Went to church then by Wally world and then home. Had a really nice day with Tony. Today got a lot of laundry and housework to do.

chicpanda 04-05-2010 12:14 PM

Good morning everyone
My daughter and I celebrate feast days a little differently. We don't want to overeat, but we do enjoy the special treats associated with a holiday. So we spread the meal over a few days. This way we can enjoy without feeling remorse. The main course was yesterday. DD is not a meat eater so I will be having ham for a while.

Jane - wise move with the brownies. It looks like you no how to handle temptations.
Trish I think you are on to something. They say that when the body hurts and we don't want to move.. that's the time to do it. All I want to do is sit. I know that wont work because my knee will only get worse without exercise. Thanks for the motivation
Hope everyone else is well
Coralee

Thank you for asking about hubby's ultrasound, he goes back to the cardiologist Friday. We are getting ready for our busiest season, we have a lot of Catholic Churches in the area, so it's First Communion and Confirmation time and that is right up to Mother's Day which is busy, and then Graduation and Father's Day, then slower for July and August, and then we start re-arranging the stores for Christmas which we have to put out beginning in September because we have no place to store it. We went to south Maine, so beautiful. Have a blessed evening. Tammy:hug:
