Hello everyone and Merry Christmas (almost) Zoe, here are a few new pics of Ginger and Sissy. These are there new Christmas sweaters, had to try them on, then took the pictures and now they are wrapped and under the tree. Believe it or not-- they like unwrapping presents!

My son will be here on Christmas night. He and his wife are having troubles and she went back to Colorado with the kids to her parents and left him in Florida. Nice huh!! Well, he is down there with no job right now, and no place to stay so I couldn't let that happen especailly on Christmas. So I purchased the plane ticket this morning for him and will be glad to get him here!!! Maybe something will sink in and he will realize after trying Florida for almost a year it isn't the right thing for him at this time! Some kids just have to learn the hard way!

I wanted to Say Merry Christmas to everyone in case I don't get a chance to get back here to post again in the next few days...

cajungirl64 12-23-2009 06:15 PM

Hi Everyone,
Can someone tell me how to get that weight loss bar on the bottom of the posted page. I think it is really neat and was wondering where to go or what to do to get one? :thanks:
Linda :)

Karen31 12-23-2009 06:19 PM

Hi Linda, You have to have at least 20 posts and been a member for 20 days,I think, before you can get the weight tracker. Keep posting and it will go fast!

Deja vu all over again! No sooner did you mention peanut butter balls, Isabella, than what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a delivery from a co-worker of an adorable little cellophane bag with two peanut butter balls (home-made!) and two little pretzels coated in chocolate with a daub of caramel and a pecan sitting prettily on top. Four lovely little sweets, which, without further ado, I have eaten without a shred of conscience. Oh, alright. Maybe a shred. :o I will not...will NOT...allow this to be the beginning of an eleven-day holiday binge! They were Oh, SO yummy, but it's all over now. AND, I'm beginning to lean towards feeling.....D-E-P-R-I-V-E-D......nonono, it's about good CHOICES...I CHOOSE to eat healthy stuff. Really. No more sweets....oh, oh, oh. Yum. Apples Isabella, Apples Isabella. Apples Isabella. I can have Apples Isabella. I don't NEED no stinkin' sweets! (I don't think these peanut butter balls had the same ingredients as yours!).
Okay. I'm going to be okay, now. Just had to share my downfall. I am SO glad that this woman only gave us four apiece!
Deep breaths.
Sip of black coffee.
There.
I think I've regained control.
Gawd, those were good!

Zoe, I had to re-read your post a few times and laughed each time. Oh my, I'm glad you enjoyed those treats. My PB balls are much healthier but I do love the sweet ones. My favorite way to eat PB is in a sweet form. I wonder if Bobbi's PB2 would be suitable in PB balls? Hmmmmm.....BTW, I made a Peaches Isabella on the weekend. That was also equally tasty as the Apples Isabella. I used sliced almonds in the topping and spiced the peaches with cinnamon, cloves, allspice and ginger.

PrairieChick, those PB Balls were yummy. I'm going to make them again for Christmas.

Lynn, those left-overs sound yummy. I love all kinds of vegetables and onion just adds so much flavor to whatever I cook.

ToBThinAgain, I love that book. I once read it aloud to my grade 5 or 6 class. I had to explain a few things but they really enjoyed it. The old B&W movie with Alastair Sim (1951) is coming on TV tonight and it's my favorite version. I have it on VCR but need to get it on DVD.

Hello Linda. I don't think I gave you a welcome the last time you posted. Come and post as often as you'd like.

Bobbi
, I hope you don't get iced in for Christmas. Our rain turned to a little snow this evening. We now have about half a centimeter of snow on the lawn. The roads are still bare.

Jess, I haven't looked at that link yet. Going to do that as soon as I finish this post.

Hi Karen. You were posting while I was composing my post. Cute pics of the dogs. Haha, isn't it funny how they like to tear off the paper from their gifts. My SIL's dog does the same thing. Hope everything works out for your son. We never stop worrying about our children, do we?

I forgot to tell you girls that I almost had to relinquish my vegetarian status last night. We almost hit a moose on the way to the concert and would have had fresh meat if we hadn't become the fresh meat ourselves. A big old moose crossed the road right in front of us. DH hit the brakes in time and we, thankfully, only watched Mr. Moose finish his walk across the road. That's why I hate driving in the dark. We were barely out of town, too. Anyway, both the moose and I are still vegetarian. :D

A quick check-in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!...Weight is "on hold" for December, still trying for below 200, but will have to wait until Jan. We will be traveling to Cape Cod on Christmas Day...Christmas Eve will be home with our youngest DD. Our oldest DD will join us for New Years on the Cape.

No peanutbutter balls for me this year!!

Jess, I just watched that card from the link you provided. I could do Christmas that way. Yes, I could.

Hi Lyn. Have a great Christmas with your DDs.

Sitting in the livingroom watching football and thinking about what I have to do tomorrow, shovel snow. I am so ready for Spring. We got 16 inches last week and it is blowing and snowing some tonight, not as much as last week but it is drifting some. It is suppose to rain and sleet and then tomorrow afternoon stop. I will get my exercise by shoveling.

Everyone have a Wonderful Christmas, enjoy your time with Family and Friends.

<rubbing the sleep out of my eyes and looking around> What? It's 7 AM and I'm not late getting ready for work???? OH, THAT'S RIGHT.....Today is the first day of my 11-day reprieve...uh...vacation, I mean! :cheer3:
I am happy to report that I didn't follow up those Christmas goodies yesterday with an all-out binge as I might once have done. Seriously, folks. There have been times in my life when a few pieces of candy would have me rushing off to the nearest market or drugstore to buy myself a nice big follow-up chocolate bar - and I'm talking about those gargantuan chocolate bars that are clearly not meant to be eaten all at once. I, of course, was easily able to eat the whole thing on my way home from work (and back then, I was working ten minutes from home!) So, I'm going to claim SOME progress from the bad ole' days, anyway!
But back to my vacay! I really need to carefully apportion my time now so that all eleven days don't just fly by like they typically do and I find myself back at work in the blink of an eye. I'm running out (okay, driving to pick up some last minute groceries, and then will be doing some baking this afternoon. Corn bread, apple/cinnamon/walnut bread, and a date/pecan/bran loaf. I'll do my world-famous (okay, just a local phenomenon to be honest) baked Virginia ham first thing tomorrow morning. Okay, my ham isn't really famous. Thanksgiving was the first time I actually even made one instead of turkey, but it did come out nicely. I have taken great pride in my holiday turkeys :turkey:for years, y'know. And my sausage stuffing! To DIE for! I mean, for YEARS, we (my ex-husband and I) hosted all the holiday dinners for friends and family (usually 50-60 people) because we had the biggest house. I would work like a veritable slave, roasting turkeys to perfection, baking pies, turning out Christmas cookies and brownies by the dozens....I mean, people really DID look forward to our Christmases. (I didn't, so much, though, because when I had finally cleaned up from that crowd, I was exhausted for the rest of my Christmas holiday.) So, anyway, a few years ago, my girls and I were plotting out who was going to make what for Christmas dinner, and I, of course, said, "I'll make the turkey, naturally." At which point my girls looked at each with significant discomfort, and the youngest piped up with, "Well, Mummy (my girls have always called me "mummy" - I even dressed as one on Hallowe'en once) your turkeys are always a little dry, you know. WHAT??????????????????? My turkeys are NOT dry! My turkeys have ALWAYS been moist and succulent....whyever do you think people were always so enthusiastic about coming for dinner on Christmas???? "Well, Mummy, the fact that they didn't have to host dinner for 50 people, clean their houses from stem to stern beforehand, and then repeat the process afterwards....well, that may have been a factor in their enthusiasm." Omigawd! I swear if half those people weren't dead now, I'd call them up and give them a piece of my mind! But I still do not concede to producing dry turkeys. That is SO unfair. And to be consigned to baking hams for the rest of my life...well, it's a bit insulting, but guess what? I get to dress up and go to THEIR houses now, so I decided that I wouldn't argue the point any further. Let THEM spend Christmas eve and into the early hours of Christmas morning basting a turkey every hour if they want to. (I never did that, myself. I stuffed it, seasoned it, browned it up nicely at 400 degrees or so for an hour and then once it was nicely browned, I covered it tightly, turned the oven down and let it slow roast for seven or eight hours. Voila! (I think? Thought?)
Okay, I have dilly-dallied here long enough. I must go about my errands. I'll drop back in later in the day with my Christmas wishes for y'all. Oh? And thanks for being here - all of you - because I never would've gotten to where I am now (fingers crossed for my weigh-in later today) without all the sharing, caring, fun and occasional "check yourself" that you all have provided. I :val1: love you all!

Good Morning everyone, Christmas Eve and we are having a severe storm go through Louisiana right now! I'm making pumpkin custard today instead of pumpkin pie. My family never eats the crust anyway!:D
Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas.
Blessings to all

Thank you Karen31 for the info about the weight tracker. I appreciate that. This is only my 3rd day I think to post. :)
Blessings,
Linda

Happy Christmas Eve day!
We have snow and ice coating everything this morning with 18" snow predicted this afternoon. Looks like our two Christmas parties with family are down the tube for us. All the town people will celebrate without us.:( I made 4 pounds of Elk/ground turkey meatballs and the sauce is a new recipe, canned cranberry sauce (Jel, not the whole berries) and chili sauce, brown sugar and lemon juice. Yum-0! All my sweets will stay frozen. We can eat the rolleposte sandwiches ourselves and I found a recipe for hot cheese dip using grated Parmesan cheese. I haven't made that yet so I won't be tempted.
You all have a nice day, I am so bummed.

Good Morning Everyone, Happy Christmas Eve!

Going to my DD's today & she is making 7 kinds of fish - we will have one each hour. She's planning on small servings so we don't overdo.

Hi Zoe, don't you just hate/love those food gifts? About roasting turkeys - in 2005, I used the Gourmet magazine recipe - fast roasting at high temp for 2 hours. Was the most moist turkey I ever made. If you ever decide to "treat" your family to one of your turkeys again, I highly recommend this method.

Hi 2bthin, I'm not sure I have ever read A Christmas Carol. Is it very similar to the movie?

Hi Linda, WELCOME! Nice to meet you.

Hi Karen, I love the sweaters - too cute!

Hi Isabella, I am VERY close to being some kind of vegetarian - I eat meat, but rarely & I really prefer vegetarian meals. I recently bought a new vegetarian cook book. If I find any really good recipes, I'll post them in our recipe thread.

Hi Lyn & Rosey, SOOO nice to hear from you. Merry Christmas to you.

Hi Toby, Not sure whether or not I welcomed you to our little family. WELCOME! You will love it here.

Hi Bobbi, Sorry you are missing the parties. Stay warm & cozy and don't eat all that Elk.

Enjoy today & tomorrow,

Lynn
