  • Good Morning!
I found this recipe on the allrecipes.com site this morning and it sounds good. I'm going to make it after I string up some climbing flowers outside and fence in more plants. The rabbits got one of my hostas last night, I'm beginning to think they're not so cute I have many hostas in my shade garden and they don't touch those. The one they got last night was just a baby hosta, they must taste better?
We're still scrounging (had to look that word up to see if I spelled it right)through the house and attic looking for stuff to get rid of. I posted 1/2 dozen vintage items on ebay yesterday, if they don't sell I'll put them on the rummage sale. The trouble with rummage sales is everyone expects you to give the collectibles away for little or nothing. We accumulate so much since we live in the country and can't have rummage sales out here. I better get my day started, you all have a great day.
P.S. Linda, how did it go yesterday?

  • hi
    Good Morning everyone,

It's been awhile. Lots of stuff happening, just life, I guess.

I've been reading all the posts, catching up. Too many to reply to, but sounds like every one has their up's and down's, huh? Again, life.

I was supposed to work today, but it's DGD's dance recital, so I got another nurse to work for me. Some things you just can't miss, and when they are gone, they are gone!

I have a new complaint! sounds like it's endless, I know. This time I have a torn rotator cuff. I went for an MRI yesterday, get the results back in a few days hopefully and find out what to do about it. If the tear isn't bad it's just injections and therapy, if it's too bad, maybe surgery to repair the tear. It's always something, isn't it.

Good thing, I am ok with food. I can't exercise and that is a big problem. I really miss it. With my back, lots of times I couldn't walk for exercise, but I could always count on lifting weights. Won't be doing that for awhile. But we all do what we have to do with what we've got.

The weather here is still warm one day cool the next. Flowers and tomatoes are planted and looking ok, but aren't going to grow much as long as this weather continues.

    Freda
  • Good Morning!
We had a record dry May in our part of Minnesota so we're happy it's raining right now, suppose to have 4 blessed days of rain. Our garden looks good despite the lack of rain. (Except where Benji bunny ate off the tops of my cucumbers). DH has a fence around part of the garden and I put chicken wire around some of my flower plants, it doesn't look very pretty but maybe I can take it down after the plants gets bigger? Maybe someone can advise me on that, this is the first year we've have a rabbit problem.
Nice to hear from you Freda and sorry about your health problems. It's too bad our bodies start breaking down after a certain age, I have back problems too and if I stay on my feet too long my heel pain acts up. But it's better than the alternative, pushing up Daisy's.

    Linda..........what's happening?

Rosey... You are a good friend to the critters, I told DH about your moose/baby and he wanted to know what part of Alaska you live in.

Glynne...The 1st thing I thought about when you said your parents were coming for a whole week was how to entertain them and what to cook! You must have some fun loving parents, I personally would only enjoy that if they stayed in a motel or I had a huge house. I'm a bit of a private person, surprising since I come from a family of 7.
Lynn...What's the most interesting thing you've found out about your ancestors? Are you related to anyone famous? How far back can you trace your family and how did you decide which family to trace, your mom's side or dad's?

We're now having our rummage sale at my brothers and turning it into a 5 family rummage sale. I still have lots to mark so I better get at it. Have a great week-end
  • Hi Everyone,

VERY sad today. Last night had to have my sweet cat (15 years old in April) put down.

    Check back tomorrow.

    Lynn
  • Lynn, so sorry about your cat. They are such good companions. Hope you're feeling more like yourself soon.

Well, it's been a few days since I posted. I'm up to my ears in wedding shower preparations. The big day is tomorrow at 2 pm. I'm surrounded by cakes, cookies, dips, chips, crackers and sandwiches. My house looks like it was vandalized because of the mess everywhere. I can't wait to get back to a normal day and night. I made the dearest little cakes for the shower. When they are all set up tomorrow I'll take pictures and let you see them. Must go to bed as I have a day's work left to do when I get up and we have to be at the church hall at 10 am to decorate. Catch you all tomorrow night when it's all history.
  • Good Morning!
Lynn...I'm so sorry about Kitty, We lost our 'Black Pearl' last winter, she was around 14 years old and very sweet. I still think of her often as you will your best friend. The hardest is not seeing her in the window watching the birds.
Isabella...You're going to crash pretty soon! What wonderful memories you have given your kids to look back on. Let us know how everything goes.

  • Hi there!
I'm so tired I could fall asleep just sitting here. We had 2 3/4" rain last night with crashing thunderstorms and lots of lighthing. Charlie our dog hates thunder and kept trying to crawl into bed.
I'm looking forward to hearing about Isabella wedding, I'll bet she's tired too.
Rosey...I told DH where you lived and he said that's a great location to be. He's a hunter and always gets jealous of anyone that has moose or any other big game in their back yard.
I just priced all my fat clothes for the rummage sale, good riddance. I started back on calorie counting today, my jeans are getting tight around my middle, I hate that! Maybe I'll join the accountability today.
  • We had a great time at the shower yesterday. Lots of fun, gifts and enough food to feed a small country. Here are a few pictures of the cakes and the centerpiece.

I'm having trouble adding pictures. Don't know what's going on. Going to try again.
  • Good Morning!
I can't add pictures anymore either. I had problems posting recipes too and the management here said Internet Explorer causes problems and to switch to Firefox. I did and now can use the copy/paste but my American greeting cards wouldn't work and I use that site for printing up all my cards not to mention the wedding invitations. So I removed the Firefox, can now use the greeting card site but no longer copy/paste here. What to do?
Isabella......I did see your pictures but had to join to see them. Looks like you had a fantastic turnout and the cake was very beautiful and professional looking. Nice work!
I need to get some clothes out on the line before it rains again, have a good one.
