I am try8ing to do this.

I just had lap band surgery, so am trying to rethink my way of eating since it did not work before.

Don't know much about the lap band but it sounds minimally invasive. How are you feeling? Did your Doc give you diet guidelines?

Can I join you?
Hubby and I are doing the low GL diet, I think the name of the book I read was Hunger Free Forever and we try and follow the NO S principals, no sweets, no seconds unless the day starts with an S, his program also has no snacks, but 3 meals with no eating in between is a little rough, so we allow ourselves healthy snacks during the afternoon. It helps knowing that on the weekend you can have something you like, we are trying not to go nuts on the weekend, I love Paula Deen, so when I make her 3 layer cakes, I make them in 3 individual pans, frost them and then give 2 of them away and we keep only one single 8" cake to eat, so that to me is a good way of having a treat without having a 3 layer cake to eat. God BLess.

Have you checked out the Low Carbers Forum . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=117

I don't think any of Paula Deen's recipes qualify for low anything do they?

Yes, there is a low carb forum right here and I've obtained lots of good info. I'm looking for 50s folks as we tend to lose much much slower. It's so hard to have no loss for the last 3 weeks <---no cheating either! and have have some young person say they've lost 30 pounds in the same 5 weeks LOL!
I mean I know that the person most likely has more to lose, and I will prevail, but sometimes it just helps if someone is in the same boat (or slow moving barge!).

Hi Everyone,

I try to limit my carb intake to around 30% of my total calories each day. Most days I'm closer to 35%, but I never give up. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 2 years ago. My strategy is no white bread/rice/potatoes/pasta; no sugar; no bread or desserts when I eat out. Of course, I don't always stick with my strategy, but I try.

Fluffy, the hardest thing is to KNOW you did everything right and to not have ANY results to show for it, been there done that! Hubby and I are trying the low glycemic index/load diet, it's good for us because it's not complicated, I have 3 businesses and cannot take complicated at the moment, we do allow snacks and treats but only on weekends, that means gumbos and spaghetti for the weekend only. Best of luck. God BLess.
