Spring PANTS challenge...

  • Ladies,
I don't know about you, but I have been sailing the river DeNile about my weight gain. One of my 'tricks' was to buy different pants to be able to lie to myself...."Oh it's not bad, I can still get into these sz 16 zip up pants'. Of course that meant shopping and trying on a gazzillion pairs until I found a pair of gloria vanderbuilt stretch jeans that I could squeeze my poundage into....followed by XL stretch pull on jeans that I rationalized were sz 16 not 18 of course......
    BUT
Truth be told here is my challange:
    XL stretch jeans.....tight
gloria vanderbilt stretch zip jeans.....well they zip but you can't go out in public with that exploding "bagel top"
Lee regular sz 16 zip jeans.......can barely pull them around that butt...junk in the trunk? it's a landfill!!!!
which one will fit by spring (March)???
    I'll update each Friday........
come along, don't be scared...... search your closets and join the fun!!! As we shrink we can donate the old pairs to charity.
  • Fluffy,

By spring all those pants will be loose!! And maybe too big!! I'll be looking for the update!
  • Hi way2fluffy,
Sounds like a good challenge to undertake. I know I have many pairs I have saved till I could fit into them again. This time I'm donating the ones that get too big instead of hanging onto them for that 'just in case'. When I find the right ones I'll post them, too. This will be good, because that is an awesome feeling when you can zip up that pair that before you could barely get past the hips.
  • I'm in. Jeans have always been the bane of my existence. When I was a teen, bell-bottoms looked dumb on me and in the late 70s the stovepipe-style jeans also looked dumb.

In the 80s parachute pants looked - well, we won't go there. Sigh -

The 90s brought back bell-bottoms in the guise of 'boot-cut' jeans. O Fashion, how could you BE so cruel???

Now, it's cigerette-leg jeans which actually look good on me. Or I should say, they'll look good on me 30 pounds from now. Slim fit all the way down, from the waist and not the muffin-top. Aces!

In the meantime I wear a size large (12-14) denim legging, mostly because I despise pants that zip up - they cut me in half crotch-wise - and until they cease to slice, I'll tug on the leggings each day. I have probably twenty pair of jeans in my closet in varying sizes of 'when-I-was-smaller,' and I'd love to fit into a few of them someday soon, without them cutting me in half. I'll gladly donate the rest. That's what I'll work toward!

  • Well, I'm back after an interesting session of trying on jeans and pants. It's amazing how sizes vary from brand to brand in the way they fit. Anyway I found three pair that I will use for the Spring Pants Challenge.
    1. Lee jeans - sz 16 - up and shut, but no oxygen allowed in or out when they are on and attempting to sit....virtually impossible.
    2. Forenza pants - sz 14 - can be pulled up but with an approx. 2 inch gap between button and hole.
    3. L.L. Bean relaxed fit - sz 12 - up and over hips but with way too much belly hanging out to even think the zipper could ever meet to do its job. (Not a pretty sight.)

I'm learning the older I get, it's the weight that accumulates in the stomach region that is the hardest to lose. I guess it's time for some sit-ups. Anyway, anxious to see when each of these pair will fit the bod and be okay to wear out in public. Challenge on!

YES! And why is that, anyway? M. Nature is just a big meanie.

I have weight to lose on my thighs, it's true, but it's the belly weight that frustrates me the most. It doesn't help that I really, really hate crunches. I toyed with the idea of lyposuction at one point, but was worried about those fat cells multiplying again, plus it's very expensive and something I sure can't afford.

If there's a magic answer for getting rid of it after age 50, I'd love to hear it. Other than surgically!
