~November Golden Girls~

We are about Fitness and Quality of Life after 50...
We are about Fun and Friendship after 50...

We are the Golden Girls...

There is Value in us
There is Power in us
There is Wisdom in us
And Laughter....
We are a rainbow of unique wonders,
There is love in us.
(poem by Dorothy Holmes)

Tell us a little about your life, family and goals. What keeps you motivated? What is the best thing that's happened to you since you passed the 50 mark?
Friends laugh, cry and stand by each other, we'll be that to you!

Good morning NOVEMBER. Just thought I'd pop in and say hello to everyone this morning and get the thread up to the top. Lost half a pound this week and considering the big heavy supper I had last night I'm well pleased with that. I'll be back later on.

Bobbolink 11-01-2008 10:01 AM

Thanks Isabella, I was thinking the post was too far down last night and I'd have to post when getting up this morning so nobody would miss it. But I slept in late, I don't sleep much but last night everything caught up to me and I clocked about 10 hours, a record for me. Congrats on the 5 pound weight loss for October, good job!
We're having the best Indian Summer, yesterday it was in the 70's again and most of our trees still have not lost their leaves.
DH is cooking rabbit today so I won't have to think about what to make for supper. I'm just about out of peanut butter 2, has anyone tried this yet? Yum, 2 Tablespoons has only 53 calories and this is what I eat most days for lunch. I spread 2 Tablespoons on a lite Flat Out, stuff as much lettuce in it as possible and roll up. Sometimes peanut butter and banana, sprinkled with cinnamon. I could never get tired of peanut butter. It's also good added to chocolate FF pudding mixes. I better stop thinking about food and get outside to let my chickens out, later................

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Thank goodness for another new start . . . . . . I really need it. Still having difficulty regulating the blood sugar levels and also don't seem to be doing very well with the portion control either -- partly because I'm not sleeping well and keep getting up at 3:30 to 4:00, having an early breakfast followed by a return to bed and then I seem to start the day all over again. End result is that I seem to be eating one extra meal but I haven't really adjusted the amount of food at each meal -- you can see where that gets me. Weight this morning is 213, but decided to leave my ticker alone since, based on my average weight for October of 211.2, it isn't wrong. Now, hopefully I can make it stop telling fibs soon. :crossed:

It's beautiful and sunny around here today . . . but it is windy and it is cold. Hope it can stay fairly dry because the usual cold and damp stuff that we get this time of year just plays nasty with my arthritis and I really do not need anything added to the bouncing blood sugar levels. Hopefully November will get everything settled down for me.

Let's all have a really great month, Chickies . . . see you all later . . . :carrot:

Hello all

Survived daughter Jennifer's wedding ~ now hopefully things will return to normal and I can work harder at my weight and other stuff.

Work this weekend (time change weekend) so it is a 13 hour night instead of a 12 hour night.

Off to bed here shortly for the before work nap.

Here are some pics:

1- at the wedding
2- me and grandson Corbin at the rehersal dinner
3- my son Jason and granddaughter Maddie
4- granddaughter Maddie, daughter Sara and me
5- my mom and dad

Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Take care

Gayle, what great pictures. I can't believe your daughter had nine bridesmaids! And do they ever look pretty in their dresses. Your DD looks gorgeous. Weddings do really bring families together in one place.

Bobbi, are you ready for the November challenge? I posted my weight for today and I'm carefully watching what I'm eating to get in the required amounts. Gotta go drink some water or I'll not get my point for today. Ha, ha.

Meowee, I hope you can get everything regulated. Must be very frustrating for you.

Hey everyone! Just checking in to say hey. No time during the week. I've been leaving the house at 5 a.m. and don't get home till almost 5 at night...long but good days.

We went down to New Orleans yesterday for Feast of all Saints day and had a lot of fun at the cemeteries and at the French Quarter. I even had my cheat...a 1/2 of an outstanding eclair! Took some pics to share too...
check out the "skinny" girl in the reflection of the red windows...thanks south beach!!!

Gayle, really enjoyed seeing your wedding pics! What a gorgeous bride and Mama!!!
I can't wait for my daughter to get married and it looks like it may happen before too long.

meowee 11-02-2008 03:14 PM

Wow it's quiet today . . . just about the same around here.

The most exciting thing in my world today is the fact that there is finally white stuff falling out of the sky. It's not sticking around long though and by mid week we are supposed to be back in double digits (50s).

Enjoyed looking at everybody's pictures . . . thanks for posting them, Chickies.

See you all later.

We had snow flurries today, too. I hate winter with it's long dark evenings. Those cold dark nights take all the energy right out of me. All I want to do is curl up in my pjs and do nothing.

Karen31 11-02-2008 08:04 PM

Hello Everyone! We're still back here in MO. We made an offer on a house back here right after we got here but after the home inspection we found out there was more wrong with it than we realize... like having to remove and replace both bathroom floors! So we withdrew our offer. We did find another one that we also like and have made an offer---- still waiting to hear on it. I thought that we would have heard last Friday but didn't so hoping for tomorrow. Depending on what happens with this house we may be headng back to Colorado the end of this week.

My Dad's birthday is the 4th and he will be 89 so we plan to take him down to the casino and let him play the penny slots! He absolutely loves that! Last week when we took him down there... I won $27 on the penny slots!

Gayle loved the pictures.... Did you put them on myspace? You look great. I imagine the time change messes with you quite a bit.

Cat, always enjoy your pictures too. It seems to take me om mini vacations! Thanks for sharing.

Well, wanted to stop in and say Hello. Everybody have a great evening.

the slim me 11-03-2008 07:39 AM

Good Morning eveyone. Woke up this morning to the sound of thunder. We're getting a really heavy rain. It was gloomey yesterday evening and you just knew the weather was going to do something drastic. It was a nice weekend. After Church Sunday we went to GS's football game. My son is coaching, their first year. They are in first place with 1 game to go. They will win wherther they take the last game or not. The league manager called my son at home and asked him to go to the tournament. He said the league had been watching him and how he played all the kids, and was an example of how they wanted the league ran. We had discussed that very topic before he started coaching, so we're glad someone else noticed too.

Gayle, Lovely wedding pictures. Your daughter is beautiful and looks so happy. The kids are beautiful too! And not looking too bad yourself there girl!

Cat, I always love your pictures, thanks so much. I feel like I've become aquainted with another part of the country. I would love to visit it in person some time. And might I say, you're looking mighty fine!!!

Karen, Glad to hear from you again.

Isabella, Not too many more pounds to go to get to goal!!!

Bobbi, I still haven't gotten the peanut butter. I really need to, I eat peanut butter every day! It would save me a ton of calories. I just wish some store carred it.

Morning All!
I guess I'll go back and check out your pictures Glynne, I don't remember seeing them? (I must have missed some posts) Cat, great pictures, I've never been to New Orleans. Looks like a very interesting historic town to visit.
Freda...can't you order the peanut butter 2 online? I just opened my third jar, won't be long until I have to place another order. If you purchased it in a store, you'd end up paying for the shipping anyway. The only benefit would be 1 jar only instead of the minimum of 4 jars. I'm the only one that eats it and it's going fast.
Karen31...The pictures you sent me of the house you bid on was beautiful, it's a good thing you had an inspector look at it before you purchased it. What's happening with our instant messenger?
Meowee...I'll check into the accountability thread every once in awhile to see how you're doing with your meds and adjusting to them, good luck dear!
Isabella...Looks like only the two of us on the challenge, but just posting my stats motivates me to get my water and exercise in.
Karen3...wished I lived by you, I'd give you a run for your money on card playing! I don't do bridge anymore but DH says nobody can beat me at 500.

I'm really excited today, yesterday I posted my Australian oilskin coat on ebay and this morning I have one confirmed bid and 25 hits/lookers and 5 watchers. Yipee!!!!!! Today I'm going to list DH Linen duster.

Yep.........I missed some posts!
Meowee...You are in a pickle, can you heat up a whole can of green beans to fill you up for your 1st breakfast? Or eat them for your second breakfast? I used to make an egg white omelet with green beans as a filler, top with a melted slice of fat free cheese.

Evening all....Am packed and ready. Have a hugh tray of egg plant parm and a meatloaf in the refrig for DH and turkey for Dash. Suitcase is done and just trying to figure out what I forgot.

DH saw the endodenist and goes next Tuesday for oral surgery. Had a choice of drilling down thru cap or going in thru his gum. He choose the thru the gum. It will save the cap and think it will get to the infection better. Has another trip back a week later for sutures out. Thank goodness he has no pain/discomfort. Hour trip each way!

Got our real estate taxes. I cannot afford for the politicans to help lower my taxes anymore. First they "lower" home owners insurance and it doubled. Now real estate taxes which they doubled the homestead rebate and the darn taxes went up about $300 more. Talking about working on reducing car insurance...yeap, that's me screaming....Noooooooooooo!

Am so excited about this tournament. There will be hundreds of tables. Fill up 3 ballrooms. Twice a day x 7 days.Get to see old friends and make so many new ones. It's amazing, but with duplicate bridge you can go anywhere in the world and find a sanctioned game. Can't speak the language but can play together.

Can't find anyone who will turn off the election in just 6 weeks. So new idea for next time. After you vote there is a switch that disconnects you from all the computer calls.

Love the wedding pictures and Cat's Halloween shots.

Sorry you all are getting chilly. I'd bottle this weather up and ship it North for you if I could.

My DD gets ticked with me because it gets dark so much later in the winter down here, too. Phone conversations start with..."Don't tell me you are still out on the lania....." They just called and have found a builder for the house in NC. It is getting close. Yeah!

See you Saturday....hugs, Karen3

Re: Peanut butter. I love the smart balance brand...
I was never a peanut butter fan (unless it was coated in chocolate!) but now have peanut butter daily with no sugar fudgesicle and cool whip...

I also like the smucker's all natural and the stuff at the health store too, but I just LOVE the Smart Balance chunky kind.

Morning All!
Happy election day, thank goodness it'll be over tomorrow! I spied this recipe this morning and the reviews were quoted as "Very Good".
I won't put it in the recipe section because it gets missed there. One of the review ladies didn't use the oatmeal packets so she just used quick oats and added a little more brown sugar.

That sounds like a quick dessert.

Happy Election Day to all my American friends. I guess everyone will be glued to the tv tonight to see the results.

I was at a bridal shower last night but didn't do too much damage. I munched on the vegetable and fruit tray but did have 2 small cookies and 2 egg salad sandwiches. It's amazing how many calories are in 2 small cookies and a couple of sandwiches. I didn't go over my calorie allowance but the fat grams were way up. I didn't get in all my water either. I lost count and then I didn't want to drink too much before I went out and when I got home I decided I didn't want to get up 3 or 4 times during the night to pee. :D

It's really cold here the last few days but I think I heard the weather announcer say the temps were going up a few degrees later on the week. It'll still be cold though.

Well, have a good day. Must go exercise.

Still around just been way busy. Doing really well as far as healthy food choices but sometimes not getting in enough calories. Just horrible with the exercise though and it's got the scale stuck (and I'm starting to feel squishy :p ) Really need to recommit to making exercise a top priority again!
Hope all of you are doing great! :grouphug:

Yoyo, get moving. You've only got a few more pounds to go.

Rosey, WTG on the pajamas. I love wearing pjs with a t-shirt around the house. I have a friend who starts with the Christmas music by this time too. Maybe, I'll break out a cd and have a listen too. No snow this way but pretty cold.

Hi . . . :grouphug:

A little dull looking this morning but it is mild and getting milder and the sun is supposed to come out shortly.

Good day for my trip to the Periodontist -- since we don't have one locally, this always turns into an almost all-day event.

See you later . . .

Rosey...what fun (wrapping gifts). We're going to be in a mess over Christmas, all the master bedroom furniture has to be moved out into the living room so carpenters can put in new hardwood floors. We're also putting hardwood in the hall way and new marble like tile in bathroom. We've lived here 23 years with the same old pink tile on the bathroom floor, yuk! About time!
Isabella... We've had record breaking temps here, yesterday was in the middle 70's which is unheard of for this time of year. I hung out two more loads of clothes, yeah!
Yoyo...I hear ya about not getting in enough calories, that happens to me all the time. I didn't exercise the whole 4 months it took me to lose the bulk of my weight. But after adding some light exercise the last few pounds finally came off. I decided to keep using the 5 pound (each) dumbells just because I've lost soooooooooo much strength in my hands. Lately I've had problems snapping off the plastic top to my "Pam" spray, so I just leave it off. What an old fart I turned out to be.

Good afternoon, chickies. Just finished eating my dinner (lunch) and am watching the news after the US election. It makes good tv watching.

I'm tired out from exercising but not today, I mean, all week, all month, all year. I suppose everyone feels that way sometimes. I'd like to change things up a bit next month. I'm looking into getting boxing gloves and some kind of bag. It's supposed to be a good cardio workout punching that bag and I'll bet somewhat satisfying, too.

Dull day here, too. The house is cold and I'm trying to get in a workout before I put in the wood furnace. Mom is snug under her electric throw so that's all right for her that she's not cold.

I've got to make a small batch of bread by this evening but I've got the side of my thumb sliced off with a sharp knife. Did it yesterday and boy did it bleed at first. I had 4 bandages on it and I could hardly type as it was my space bar thumb. Much better this morning and I'm down to 1 bandaid. I suppose I'll do the bread in my mixer and hope for the best.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning all, WE've had such beautiful weather this week. Sunny, in the 70's. I guess it's Indian summer. I know it won't last long, it's supposed to snow Sunday, so i'm outside as much as possible while it's here. I picked my Gd up from school yesterday and we went out to lunch and to the park for 2 hours. Want some good exercise? chase after a 5 year old for 2 hours!

Cat, I love peanut butter but haven't tried that brand yet. I also had someone in the store telling me how great it was. It's going to be my next jar.

Isabella, Yeah, me too! There are days I just "don't wanna" exercise! I think motivation is a big let down. Motivation comes and goes. Habit is the force that keeps us going. Changing to a new exercise usually does the trick, even if it's just a new video.

Bobbi, I'm taking advantage of this beautiful weather by hanging my cloths outside to line dry. I know it's good for "green" but I just love the way they smell afterwards! I have the cleanest sheets around in the summer time, beacuse i change them so often! I just want that fresh washed smell. It just totally relaxes me. I trried to go online for the powdered peanut butter but lost the linc. I know you posted it once, mind posting it again? I eat it so much, and if there is only a 4 jar limit, that wouldn't last me too long. How is teh consistancy? I know you said it tasted great.

YoYo, Made that commitment to get out there and exercise yet? You know we're going to remind you untill you do! Maybe you need a change too? I wish I had your problems of not getting enough calories! But, I guess any problem is a problem.

Rossie, Christmas presents? You're wrapping Christmas presents? Noooooo, it's can't be that time allready! I need to get out there and start shopping. I usually have some things done allready, but this year I have NOTHING!

I found boxing gloves in the basement. The boys used to have them but now they're MINE. I'll let you know how it goes. Gone to finish my exercise. A big  to everyone.

Bobbolink 11-06-2008 09:13 AM

Freda...just google Bell Plantation and you'll find their home page. They have a place where you can put your area code in and find a store to find it. I just did and see they have it at my local Hy_Vee store, I'm totally surprised as I've looked for it before.

Welcome to Bell Plantation, Inc. Let us start by saying - Thank You - for visiting us here at Bell Plantation, Inc.

You have found the home of the famous powdered peanut butter named PB2 ("Peanut Butter, second generation"), Extra Virgin Roasted Peanut Oil, and our newest product member - Chocolate PB2. All are made from high-quality peanuts that have been processed without the use of any chemicals.

PB2 has 85% less fat calories than regular peanut butter, is a good source of protein, and still maintains the full flavor of regular peanut butter. Essentially, the oil is "squeezed out" of roasted peanuts and what remains is our famous PB2! The same is done for our Chocolate PB2, except that high quality cocoa powder is added for the chocolate lovers out there.

Extra Virgin Roasted Peanut Oil is produced from peanuts which have been shelled, sorted, roasted, and pressed to remove the oil. The resulting extra virgin peanut oil has a distinct rich flavor and aroma.

Bobbolink 11-06-2008 09:29 AM

Good Morning!
I got so excited that our local store carried PB2 so I called them. Nope! They don't have but she is looking into it. She wanted the code on the jar. I'll give you the code if you want to have your local grocery store look into it.
PB2
Bell Plantation
Tifton, Ga 31794
Code: 8 0487904813 8
Freda, in answer to your question, it's very good. I prefer chunky peanut butter, but I'll settle for creamy for only 53 calories in 2 Tablespoons. Yesterday I mixed two servings of PB 2 powder into some instant banana pudding, yum! The peanut butter alone has a creamy texture and taste just like the real thing. I see they have chocolate too, can't wait to try that!
Do any of you heat up food in plastic containers? I used to but not anymore. See the following article about it.
Quote:

3 Unhealthy Ways to Cook
Yesterday we discussed healthy ways to cook; today we cover some unhealthy cooking methods you will want to cut back on or avoid entirely.
Deep frying. Deep frying traditionally uses unhealthy fats, and reusing cooking oils (or eating foods cooked in oils that have been reheated) can form the toxin HNE which has been associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease, stroke, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, various liver disorders, and cancer.

Microwaving in plastic. Heating or cooking foods in plastic containers or covered by plastic wrap in the microwave can drive plastic molecules into your food. Use only glass or ceramic containers and cover foods with waxed paper or a paper towel.

Grilling with charcoal. Potentially hazardous and carcinogenic smoke is produced when you grill hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken over charcoal. Instead, use a gas or electric grill to eliminate the smoke hazard - if you do use charcoal, avoid using lighting fluid or self-lighting packages of charcoal briquettes which add residues from toxic chemicals to food.

Wow, am I out of whack this week. Might actually be getting enough exercise with all the running up and down the warehouse, lifting boxes, packing up, etc. Between all this real live physical labor and the time change, by the time I get home it's dark and I'm completely pooped. All I want to do is crawl into bed. Haven't done a load of laundry or swept the floor all week; and I haven't even been making my lunches so, in the morning, I'm ending up scrounging whatever doesn't need to be chopped. I've got to be very careful that I don't back slide any further - thank goodness my healthy shopping has become almost second nature so at least what I'm scrounging isn't horrid but not terribly balanced (today I've got no fruit with me at all :( ). Getting to the point where I'm looking forward to being unemployed so I can get some rest....

Didn't take the time to read posts today so I hope everyone is well and happy :grouphug:

I've had two busy days and both have entailed lots of eating out -- tried to make the best choices I could, but since I couldn't track the details, I really don't know. At least the blood sugar readings would seem to indicte that the choices have been pretty well decent from that angle. Hopefully life will be back to normal tomorrow.

retiredone 11-07-2008 08:57 AM

I never ate enough yesterday and I'm so tired today. I'm sure it's because I didn't get enough food and my energy levels are not where they should be. I was so busy getting ready for the cooking demo I do on Thursday nights I never had supper. Actually, DH was an hour late coming home as he had an unexpected late bus run. That put me an hour behind getting to town and a real rush job picking up the last few grocery items for the demo. I ate a banana and had a few samples of food but didn't want to eat too much so late at night. So therefore I feel tired today. I'll refuel over the day and hopefully my energy levels should be up after lunch.

The weekend is upon us so I expect the boards will be almost empty the next couple of days or maybe even longer as it's a long weekend for some. DH has Monday and Tuesday (Remembrance Day in Canada) off. I might get some shopping done this weekend. Some real shopping. I need a new bra so that'll entail a trip to the fitting room, which I hate, but nonetheless a necessity.

My weigh in is tomorrow and I'm hoping for at least another pound loss. Last week was only half pound but I think I was retaining a bit of water around the ankles as they seemed a bit mushy to me.

Well, have a good weekend whatever you're planning on doing.

Bobbolink 11-07-2008 09:57 AM

Good Morning and thank you Canada for the lovely white snow this morning. The weather map show a huge swirl of snow coming from Canada and looks like it'll be an all dayer. I talked DH into taking me into town in his 4 wheel drive since I hate driving on icy roads. It's a necessary trip, have to pick up two GS jerseys and sew his last name on them for tomorrow's hockey games.
Isabella...What a fun job doing demo's! I did a cooking demo for our local t.v. station once and I throughly enjoyed it. What do you demo, the food or the cooking pots/pans?

Quote:

I was so busy getting ready for the cooking demo I do on Thursday nights
We better get going, weatherman said possible white outs with our wind. Bye bye!

Hiya

Drive safe Bobbi! I don't think I would even remember how to drive in the snow anymore. May have to relearn though - looks like my company is going to insist that I go to the new facility in KC for about 3 days in December :p I don't wanna but if I don't it might effect my severance package so I guess I sorta hafta :p

If I don't make it back later - wishing you all a safe and wonderful weekend :grouphug:

Bobbi, my church is doing a healthy living seminar and I'm the healthy food demonstrator. Last night we did healthy breakfasts. I did 100% whole wheat bread and a slow cooker cereal with wheat berries, quinoa, barley, and steel cut oats. We added unsweetened applesauce and coconut but I'd leave out the coconut as it adds too much fat. The grains are cooked with a 1:3 ratio of grain:water. Also add a pinch of salt or to taste. We did one cup of mixed grains and 3 cups water and 1/2 cup applesauce and cook over night on low setting. You can add cinnamon, nutmeg etc also. Makes a nice hot cereal. We also did an alternate pancake syrup with thickened 100% juice concentrate diluted with one can of water and added frozen or fresh berries. Very nice. I used pineapple juice and a frozen mixed berry mix. The raspberry flavor really came through.

Here's my latest milk drink. Just like a milk shake if you add a few ice cubes when blending. According to fitday.com it's about 175 calories, 0.3g fat, 35.4g carbohydrates, 9.8g protein.

1 cup skim milk
1/2 medium banana
3 small dates

Blend all together and drink. Add ice cubes for a colder ice cream like treat.

You're welcome for the snow. I'll take rain any day.

Hey, Yoyo. I hear you on the severance package. You don't want to mess that up. I put mine in an RRSP (registered retirement savings plan) so I wouldn't get the income tax taken out in one huge lump. I've been taking a small amount out every year and hope to have it all removed before I'm 60.

Have a great weekend Golden Girls.

Another hectic day . . . very unusal for me to get so busy and especially since it keeps cropping up unexpectedly. Must learn how to say no to people, this is really making a mess out of my good eating intentions. Today, I was able to track at least, but I'm not happy that Reese's peanut butter cups managed to cross my path at a very vulnerable moment.

Other than that ---it's still mild around here but it's done nothing but rain, rain, rain today; but it's definitely better to drive in than snow. And our gas is still going down today it's sitting at $0.92 a litre (under $4.00 a gallon) and this is the lowest it's been in two years.

Morning all....I'm back and a day early. Long story and to thumb nail it. Our partners acted like weepy teens and fought the entire week. Yup, even at the bridge table. It was sad. They have tickets for Vegas next month and I have no idea how they will survive that together. The tournament and hotel were wonderful and already excited for next year's trip.

We stopped in Ocala at the new Dillards. I have never been in a Dillards but their ads are wonderful. It was very nice, but it unleashed the shopper mode in Susan and she shopped for 2 hours. I finally went out to the car and read. 5 days for bridge left me too brain dead to shop.

My friends the chocoalchoics are coming for Thanksgiving and I didn't toss the left over Halloeen candy away. Must admit that it was calling me all night. When you are tired everything says cooooooooooooome!

Today and tomorrow are my 2 free days this month. So with DH getting his fishing gear together dash and I will be home alone quietly for the day. That sounds so lovely.

Years ago DH and I drove across the top of the states on Rt 10 from Montana to Minn. That was when I finally understood why they call those cold fronts "Artic Clippers". There's nothing to stop the winds from howling down the plains. We had planned to retire and live in NW Montana....ha, blood got thin and now even Florida gets chilly.

YoYo...good luck in KC. Got me a warning thicket there last year!

Isabella...Is Remembrance Day like our Veterans Day 11/11?

Bobbi...icy roads! ugh!!

Well it's 10am and I still haven't shower....need to do something. Have a nice weekend all....hugs, Karen3

Hey Ladies! Hope you all have a great weekend!

It was a busy busy work week, but did get Election day off, so I headed out to the marsh with my buddy so he could scout out a good place for putting "used" Christmas trees to help with wetland erosion. Had a lot of fun picture taking.
We are heading out for a memorial mass for a friend of my parents. Since we are the only family members left in the area, we really have to go make an appearance.
Looks like another busy week followed by relay for life next saturday. We have a team from school participating and then a lunch with friends after that. Can't wait for Thanksgiving holiday week to be off of school!!

Karen, I tried taking back a pair of jeans that were too big to Dilliards yesterday and they would not let me return them because I had removed the tags. I wore them for about an hour and they bagged out unbelieveably. I've shopped there for many many years and many years before that when they were D.H. Holmes and refuse to ever spend a penny there again. Expensive Liz Clairborne jeans and I just wanted to exchange them for a smaller size that would not bag out. they "increased" by at least 2 sizes within one hour..grrrrr.

Hello everyone. Good to see you back Karen3 and glad you had a good week. Remembrance Day is just like Veteran's Day-- Poppies, 2 minutes of silence. laying of wreaths, etc. The schools have taken Monday off as well for a nice long weekend. We usually go to the War Memorial for the wreath service but didn't get there last year with mom here. I always had trouble keeping my poppy in my coat because the pin keeps falling out but a few years ago I fixed that problem. I take the poppy apart and hot glue the center to the middle of the flower and hot glue a brooch pin on the back. I've not lost a poppy since.

Cat, I understand your frustration. I've boycotted stores before for such indiscretions against my person.

It's rainy, gray and damp here but we don't have to shovel it. Take care everyone and catch you all later.
