Hi Everyone,
The July Daily Accountability thread for the 50+ forum has been started. Hope you'll join. Lynn |
A good day all around.
Biopsy was OK -results in 7-10 days. Since I took a half day off to do this- I spent 3 hours painting trim on the garage. A good trade-off I think :) A beautiful day in Northern MI - I love living here during the summer months! Farmer's market tomorrow morning. What a blessing that the location is the city park which is only 4 blocks from my office (which is only a mile from my home). I plan to walk down during my lunch break. Hope you are all having a wonderful day - and have a wonderful holiday week :D |
Good Morning, It looks like it's going to be a lovely day. I hope so, they are having firework in the park this evening and I want to go and take the grandkids. We won't stay untill they do the fireworks, since they begin at dust, and dusk is so late now. We go and enjoy all the music and other things going on and come home and watch the fireworks in the back yard with the neighbors. You can see them really well from there and don't have to fight the crowd leaving afterwards.
Laurie, how nice to be able to live so close to work that you can walk. And to have a farmers market so close too. Not too much coming in fresh yet, but my tomatoes are looking really good and hubby says we should have them in a another week or so. Can't wait!! Crossing my fingers for the biopsy. Make it a good day, Freda |
Good morning!
I've now dropped 2 pounds of the vacation weight in 4 days, as I figured I would. Now I have to deal with the other pound or so, which is likely actual fat. But I'm confident! I'd like to get to 145 by the end of the month (from 149.2 today) but that may be a stretch... Jay |
Good Morning . . .
Well, I pulled a stupid move yesterday . . . I should have gone out to the grocery store and didn't. Now, here I am completely out of salad greens and everything is closed today (Canada Day -- our version of the 4th ). Will I survive? Oh probably. Decided to bend/change my own rule of using the monthly average of my weight for the following month -- here I am at 214.5 again this morning but looking at 219 on my ticker and that's depressing -- so, rightly or wrongly, from now on I'm going to use the lower of the last day of the month or the average. Will go and make the change after I finish up in a few more places around our great big 3FC world. Nothing really exciting for me today -- it's really hot and sticky today although the house is okay so far because it is shut up tight. May wander off to watch some fireworks this evening if it's not too bad out there. Other than that, guess I'll be Gazelling again today. Have a great day . . . :carrot: |
Hi everyone, I can't seem to get on every day but I'm trying. Meowee congrats on your weight loss. I haven't lost anything this month, but I know why. I keep restarting and I hope to stay on better track this month.
Laurie so glad to hear your biopsy was okay. Those are always scary. Have a great day. Lori |
Hi Chicks!
Time for breakfast and a walk here, before it gets any hotter. I moved last year, and my new town has a 4th of July fest (of course) that should be interesting, at least for the first time. Fireworks at the marina, etc. We're planning to go on over. Not much else to report on this end--down another half a pound--that vacation weight gain will be history very soon! Jay |
Good Morning . . .
Hot and humid today . . . . . . unusual for us to get this kind of weather so early in the season and I hope it goes away soon. Did my 5K on the Gazelle yesterday but could not get below 63 minutes. Later, gang . . . :carrot: |
Hi Just a quick fly by. I got my bike out today, and rode 3 miles. It was a good day, except for the gloomy rain off and on all day.
Jay have fun at your 4 th fest. Lori |
Hi all - a quick fly in. I should be able to get caught up this weekend. I am taking a couple - much needed vacation days and don't have to work again until Tues.
Jay - I'm betting you will shed the last of the vacation weight this week as long as you stay OP through the holiday weekend. You are doing GREAT losing weight again after being at 150. Even with a marvelous vacation - WOW! Linda - I like your new idea for your ticker. Moving my ticker weight is something that I enjoy and it really does help motivate me. Two or three folk (Jay included ;)) notice when it moves, so knowing that others are keeping an eye on my progress helps me stay OP. It is moving ever so slowly these days, but - it is moving. Freda - it is one of the few perks living in a small town. We live right in the center of town, about 4 blocks from "main street". The lake is 7 blocks away, the farmer's market (next to the library) is a mile. Both of my offices are a mile (in different directions). When we moved (19 years ago), DS1 had to take Dramamine to ride the school bus. We vowed we would try to find a house within walking distance of all schools. DH is only a mile for his work as well. I'm going to try to get more of the garage painted this weekend. If I can finish the trim and get a side or two painted, I will be happy. I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! |
Hi there . . .
Another hot and extremely sticky day -- hey, it won't be long before I'm complaining about the cold again. Hope you all have a great one . . . :carrot: |
:woohoo: The biopsy results came back negative. I'm a happy camper today.
Got in another 5 hours of painting today. Painting masonry is slow going - so many little holes to press into - ugh. Now I know why I put this off for so long. But, the weather is fantastic this weekend, so I need to take advantage of it. So, I'm off to get in a bit more painting before the sun goes down. Hope you all have a fantastic - POP weekend! Linda - LOVE seeing that 215 on your ticker!!!! |
Yay CountingDown! :cheer3:
Well, I don't know whether I can pull off an on-plan 4th or not. I guess we'll see! :D Not much to report today--day off from the gym--pretty much cloudy and rainy still. Lots of work. Does anyone watch "Seconds to Disaster" on the National Geographic Channel? I'm a bit of a "disaster" aficionada, if one can be such a thing. Tonight I saw the explanation of the Kursk sinking--the Russian sub that went down in 2000. A sad story of outdated equipment and poor design. And of course, the Russians wouldn't accept any help until 9 days after the sub had sunk. The men were long dead by then. And I guess that's about all I have of interest... Jay |
Morning . . .
And a VERY HAPPY FOUTH OF JULY WEEKEND for all my buddies on the southern side of "the longest unguarded border in the world". :woo: Nothing exciting for me today. See you all later. |
Hey! Happy dance for CountingDown! :broc: :cb: :broc: :cb: Round two...heh.
How did everyone do on the 4th in the U.S.? I ate foods I wanted to eat--hot dogs, baked beans, even some Tofutti (a tofu-based "ice cream")--but I stayed within my calories. :D I even made it to the gym today. Gosh, I feel positively... on plan! Jay |
This may sound strange . . . since I'm a Canuk  . . . but I had a great 4th of July. I live in a tourist town and this is our annual Lobster Carnival weekend and we had lots of US tourists in town and a really great fireworks display on their behalf . . . and, to the best of my knowledge, nobody fell into the harbour either.
|
Great 4th, I stayed POP - only because I painted most of the day. DH and I walked downtown and spent some time people watching at a coffee shop. It was an enjoyable day.
And - as of an hour ago- the garage is painted. :woohoo: I am so glad it is finally done. I'm glad I never have had to paint for a living - I really, don't enjoy it. Especially oil-based paints. Clean-up is just painful. Have a great rest of the weekend all! |
Agh, oil based??? :yikes: I didn't know people still used that... Wow, that's a pretty tough job and cleanup, CD.
Yes, I'm glad that I'm not a professional painter either. A little painting now and then is about all I can stand. Jay |
I hate painting . . . would much rather hang wallpaper . . . every strip is so fullfilling because it makes such a noticeable difference. :lol3:
Nothing exciting for me today . . . we seem to have another warm and sunny one, but the humidity is on the rise again, so I'll probably be doing the exercise indoors today. Have a great moving and shaking good time today, gang . . . :carrot: |
Hey meowee, wallpapering is something I've never done! I always thought it looked really hard...
The last time I painted a room, I got a color matched primer. That can save having to do a second coat. But I found it "unfulfilling" in a way--because putting the actual paint on was just as boring as doing a second coat. It didn't look any different! It's too hot and muggy today to do much outside. I'll just have to count on the gym later. I went off the rails last night with my eating--sigh....... Jay |
Being 50+ I think I’ll join you here. Mother of three grandmother of four boys. Working to lose some weight.
|
Hi there ETTA . . . :welcome: to the group . . . glad to have you joining us.
|
ETTA - :welcome2:
Come back and post often - we LOVE new folk! When we moved into this house, every single room was wallpapered - walls AND ceilings. I have been slowly stripping rooms and painting if the old horsehair plaster is salvageable. But, in the mean time, I have become a master wallpaper hanger. It really isn't hard to do, except those "slanty" ceilings. they can be a pain to do by yourself. I usually have DH help when I get to them. My shoulders are so sore from painting every day for 2 weeks, that I went to pull weeds in the garden this morning, and well - the weeds won. I couldn't summon the strength to unearth them. I'm thinking that a Sabbath rest day is in order. Jay - don't sweat the eating from yesterday. Just jump back on plan today. It won't hurt you much, if at all. I can't exercise when it is hot out - though, since losing the 80+ lbs., I am able to tolerate the heat much better than in years past. I'm off to grab a glass of iced tea and a book and put my feet up on the patio. Enjoy your Sunday all! |
See you on the new thread, chickies!
