jmh6251 05-07-2014 08:00 PM

Finally found a group of people my age: I am jmh6251. I am 62 years old. I have about 50 pounds to lose. I currently weigh 180 pounds. When you consider that I am only 5 ft 3.5 inches. That is way too much. I recently retired from being a Careprovider for the Elderly and disabled. I wasn't able to navigate anymore since my joints are not in good shape. It doesn't look good when you have as much trouble as your clients getting around LOL. I love to craft, and read, and make quilts. Garden, cook, and spend time with my Grandchildren. I have 11 of them. I have 4 grown children. My goal is to be able to walk without pain. I'm hoping if I take off the weight my joints will be better. It's worth it to try. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.:goodvibes

We have fun, share encouragement and ideas. Look forward to getting to know you too.

Insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. So this time I'm going to do something different to change my eating habits and lose this weight once and for all! I've been lurking here a few days and enjoying the comraderie and support among members and it feels like a safe place to be so here I am!

My name is Ellen, I'm a retired RN in Tennessee, married to DH 36 mostly happy years, no children, 4 dogs and a cat! I love travelling, gardening, volunteering for animal rescue groups, reading, movies, and TV especially Investigation Discovery (I think I was a homicide detective in another life).

I'm 5'2" tall and weigh 238 pounds. So there it is. I want to lose 90 pounds over the next year. I've struggled my entire life with my eating and weight but recently regained 90 pounds due to anxious overeating following a traumatic event 2 years ago. That's a lot of anxiety and overeating! :(

I'm unable to exercise at this point because I'm short of breath just walking around in my house. It's ridiculous. My plan is to follow a 1500 cal low carb diet. DH is diabetic but otherwise healthy and normal weight and he's very supportive of my weight loss efforts and will eat anything I prepare so that makes things easier.

I'm very happy to be here and look forward to being part of this group. Ellen

60+

New member here. Just turned 61 yr old last weekend. Need a group of like-minded women who are trying like me to lose some pounds successfully. My goal is to lose 20 pounds within the year. Have a 7 year old daughter, so my incentive is strong, but my will is weak! Hence, the need to do something now before I am too old to care anymore! Wanna look good again in photos so that my daughter can look at them over the years and be proud that I took care of myself while I aged through her childhood and teen years. At my age, who knows how many years I have left with my DD. Ageing is a gradual thing, and yet it seems to sneak up behind you when you are not looking. Ten years ago I looked so different. Today, I am not happy with the way I look. My husband eats so differently from me. He could lose about 40 lbs, but I know I need to do something about myself first. I want my daughter to grow up eating healthy and being healthy like I was. But she needs to have a mother and father who role model that for her. My parents were healthy eaters and fit. So can I. Walk the talk so they say.

New Member

I'm also a new member and hope I can find my way back to this thread the next time I'm online. :dizzy:
I turned 60 this year. I was down for the past few years, then gained twenty pounds in about 18 months - and then some more.
Eventually found a thyroid issue, which is now taken care of and am able to lose again. Have lost seven so far and have about 16 to go.
I've been losing and gaining twenty-five pounds for most of my life and just want to stay the same!
Also - I may be making my first trip out of the country this winter to visit Thailand! That just came up so gives me even more incentive to work hard at food changes and exercise.

Krupski 07-28-2014 01:51 PM

I'm new and just read your post.
It's been a month. How are you doing?
I hope great!
I swing up and down and am trying to stop that cycle.
Seems I do great all day and evenings just mess me up.
Eating out with friends - drinks - etc.
We just need to make our health a high priority!

I guess these don't line up with who I'm responding to. I'd better figure that out before posting more. LOL

Looking for a health buddy

Hi...I'm Beth and have been looking for a pen-pal or someone to motivate me into turning around the effects of these last few years when I've torn a meniscus, turned 55 and am feeling like a slug. I know others out there have felt like this at some point. I do ride a stationary bike and have over 1400 miles in the last year but nothing has changed. I'm spiritual in my beliefs. If you might be interested in talking, I would appreciate hearing from you.:)

glynne 09-07-2014 09:02 PM

Welcome Beth ~ this site is a nice place. All kinds of different areas of people supporting each other on this journey to better health. Explore around and find an area that would meet your needs.

Bethm559 09-07-2014 09:37 PM

Thank you Gaye....today was extra hard emotionally as I woke up with lower back pain. I'm usually a very up person however, pain can suck the joy out of a day. Are those on here on any specific eating plan or their own and just come together for support?

glynne 09-07-2014 11:25 PM

Hello again Beth. The area where I hang out the most is on the Golden Girls thread. Everyone kind of does what ever eating plan works for them and are supportive of each other. It is a group of women age 50 and above. There are other areas where the people who gather are all doing the same kind of way of eating.

I'm not very good at explaining, but if you go to the top and click on the thing that says ~ 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community ~ it will bring up a whole list of the different areas ~ scroll down and see what all there is. Read around in here and see what areas you might like.

Hello everyone, I certainly qualify to be here at 60 soon to be 61. Married living in CT. Im a yoyo dieter losing and gaining the same 20-35 lbs. for the past 30 yrs. I'm having a bit of difficulty getting around these forums and then finding my way back in.

Hoping 60 will be better than 50

Good morning,
I am 59 and trying to get ahold of things before I turn 60. I have been fighting a slowing metabolism since my 30's and menopause has not helped. I will be happy for the support of this group.

meandu 10-19-2014 03:14 PM

Hello everyone. I am 56 but will be turning 57 in December. I am 5' 11 1/2" tall. I have been using a walker to walk with since a total hip replacement left me with a leg that is not fully functional.

My husband and I are the proud owners of a chihuahua named 'Peanut'. My exercise regimen includes walking Peanut when my health allows it. I do try to do other exercises to keep my core strong but lately I have been on a downhill slide. I find that I have a difficult time maintaining my enthusiasm for exercise the last while.

I like reading, watching movies, and listening to music. I have been changing the genre of books that I read from crime and true crime to humourous stories. I like funny movies or movies that have a believable plot line and are not gory or grosse. Jazz or classical music is what I enjoy listening to.

Due to my mobility issues I do not work outside the home. This may be one of the reasons I have difficulty staying focused on an exercise program--I become bored quickly with the day to day routine of being at home all day.

So this basically sums up who I am. I joined this website so that I would not feel like I was alone in my weight loss issue.

glynne 10-19-2014 03:39 PM

Meandu ~ you definitely are not alone. Welcome. Join in one of the threads and enjoy.

Nilouve 11-10-2014 08:20 PM

Hello all. I will soon be 54 and at around 185 I have never been this heavy. I am 5'1" so need to lose at least 60lbs. I have lost weight many, many times over the years with many different plans but I always gain it back and then some.

I am hoping to find support from people who know what I am going through and make my next weight loss journey the one that finally "sticks"

chocolate cheesecake 11-19-2014 10:46 PM

New here

Let's get started. I am turning 50 in a couple of weeks and I do not want to enter the 50's in the 190's.
So, here I am to start my weight-loss journey.

I am active, like to work out, a mother to 2 teenagers and I am going back to work soon. Lots of reasons to stay with the program. Right now, I am trying to exercise and stick to a calorie reduced diet. I find that age makes loosing weight so much more difficult.

getinwitdaprogram 11-23-2014 03:22 PM

Hello to all

Hello, all,
I have a tendency to ramble so I'll use your handy dandy set up:

PERSONAL INFORMATION: I'm an pr/editor/writer type working at a small college in Wisconsin. I'll be 60 in July and have a long and storied weight gain/loss history. I work at a desk all day and under a lot of pressure there with deadlines and such. After work I am overbusy involved in various volunteer and activist activities...always on the go but nothing physically active. I am not home a lot and end up eating out more than I should. I'm a stress eater and THAT really shows! When I do relax I find I watch tv, do stuff on the computer, knit...nothing that gets me up and moving. Never been into sports or anything like that although I do like aerobics and walking...afraid that's about it.

DIET / EXERCISE REGIMEN: UGH...here's the stats. I'm about 207 and only 5 feet, 3.5 inches. Got a BMI of 36.5! I want to lose about 90 lbs but would settle for 80. As a teen and young adult I was 100-107 lbs and I know I'll never be that but I would really like to get back to something around 115-125. At age 40, I did get down to 130 and could have lost a little more. I've done some dangerous diets in my 30s like Cambridge and some good ones like several times with Weight Watchers BUT what has worked best is just plain cutting the calories down and upping the activity.

Right now I'm trying to eat under 1500 a day, shooting for 1,000-1,200 but giving myself some leeway. I know I have to start small so my immediate goal is to lose first 50 by my birthday in July and to bring my A1C down from 6.1. I don't know to what but take it in the under 6 direction. I also want to create a habit of working out 3-4x/week.

SPECIAL HOPES / ASPIRATIONS / ACHIEVMENTS / CHALLENGES: All the weight I lost when I was 40 has come back and then some. I'm heavier and more out-of-shape than I've ever been. This new weight and inactivity has pushed me into early stage diabetes, back problems, the works. I keep trying to remember what it was that made me lose that weight at 40 not sure why I can't do it again and keep it off. :(:(Can't seem to stick with a diet or an exercise plan no matter what I try...need support and encouragement mostly.

getinwitdaprogram 11-23-2014 03:29 PM

Sounds like a lot of us at a crossroads of early 60s

Hi, again,
Reading through all the bios I see I am certainly not alone in my age bracket. Lots of us younger boomers here...those in our late 50s and early 60s. Seems like the 60 mark is a wake-up call.

I know I'm odd but I've always wanted to live a loooong time...so long that reporters come to my door to interview me because I hit 100+. :)

However, I know, too, that I may not make that but if my health holds up, like most women, I can probably look for at least 20 more years. Well, I don't want to spend the next decade or two grousing about my weight, feeling ashamed and missing things because I'm overweight...and I know losing the weight will give me a much better shot of getting that interview than if I continue on the path I'm on now.

So, here's to a revolution in our 6th decades...let's be the best Golden Gals we can be.:carrot:

glynne 11-23-2014 04:10 PM

Welcome ladies ~ read around in here and find a place that you feel you might enjoy and jump in. We look forward to getting to know you :)

Nilouve 11-23-2014 07:26 PM

This thread has been kind of quiet lately, nice to see some activy! Let's keep each other motivated.

glynne 11-23-2014 07:54 PM

Nilouve ~ this thread probably seems quiet because it is more of a place for people to tell a little about themselves. The threads where support is given are down below the area where the sticky things are. Choose one of those and join in and you will get more support and responses to your posts.

Hope that helps.

65+

Retired, loving life. Living in a large Fl. retirement community with lots of opportunites for exercise, social clubs, sports. My favorite activity is synchronize swimming. Our team consists of 15 ladies, ages 52-75 & practice twice a week for 2 hours. We perform twice a year. Never thought at this age that I would participate in this sport plus golf as well. Our social life is huge here as some weeks we eat our every night with friends. I have learned too be in control of my eating which is tough when life evolves around food and happy hour. Not for me though, hot tea & water and good choices. Lost 25 lbs since September and another 25 too go. I am on a mission and staying focus. Have had my share of knee replacements and no more for me. Hips were the next thing to go as I was weighing 206, 5'4", now 180.
Thrilled with my accomplishment, and enjoying the next 30 years.:carrot:

love2garden 11-25-2014 07:40 PM

Also retired with newly retired husband. DD#2 daughter shares our home, and tasks with us.
I Love to garden, all aspects from planning to digging, to deadheading, to admiring, etc. Mom was gardener and Dad came from farming family. DH also enjoys being outside and yard work is fine with him, too.
We love to fish, be in the woods, mountains, or around streams. Used to square dance and weight was no problem. Now, with bum joints that fuss at me, I'm doing way too much sitting, TV watching and computer stuff. Weight is back up near highest ever and feeling frustrated.

Belong to a gym and go twice a week, love to work out and see progress.

Fun coming to this site to converse with others who work toward a healthier life and scale going down.

Still trying to remove some pounds but am at the same weight I was when I joined and it is now the 4th month. I see that I need to stop maintaining a high weight and begin doing what I know works to make me healthier even tho we are housebound in winter for too many days!!!

Indyanna57 12-15-2014 07:34 PM

Hi Everyone! I am 57 years old and I have a goal of losing 137 pounds. I know that it can be done - but I truly believe this is the first time I have truly been committed to losing the weight. I work while DH is retired. Our only son is a freshmen in college. It is time to concentrate on me for a change. Looking forward to getting to know you all and give and receive help and support.

tasha5 12-26-2014 11:22 PM

64 year old needing to get serious

I'm 5'3" and 303 lbs., in-active diabetic with other health problems. The last 3-4 years I've playing with improving my eating and activity level but even though I'm retired and have the time can't seem to keep things going for more than couple of days before falling off the wagon.

Beyond that, I live with 4 dogs (1 Belgian Malinois and 3 Swedish Vallhunds) that I show in conformation and obedience. They also help keep me warm on the cooler nights here in Florida.

That's about it, not much excitement in my life. I'm hoping to get some accountability with my food and exercise and for at least a little improvement before my Dr. appt. next month.

Hi,
I am 59 years old and quickly approaching 60. I will be officially retired in april, but have basically only been working part time for 3 years. I am 5'2" and 204lbs. I am border line everything so I need to make changes to be around for my 3 beautiful grandbabies.

I live MD, but travel often to NJ, Oh, and NY to visit family. When I am at home, I can keep on track, make healthy choices and exercise. When I am traveling all my resolve fades.

I am looking for suggestions, support and some motivation to keep me going.

Cynthy

How To Post Bio

I only see a "Reply To Post." Is this where I would post my bio?
Thanks,
Candee

glynne 01-14-2015 10:56 AM

Candee ~ there is a little box right below the replies ~ on the left ~ that says: post reply. That will open a window where you can type your bio info, then scroll down a bit and click on the thing that says submit reply ~ it will add our bio to the thread.

Hope that helps

frawniemae 01-18-2015 09:25 AM

PERSONAL INFORMATION:Hello ladies! I'm just now getting to this thread as there are soooo many to read and keep track of! My name is Cindy but frawniemae was my mama's nickname for me up to the day she died at age 83 in 2006. I'm 55 (not sure at all how that happened), live in the same town I grew up in, married to the world's most patient man since 1985, mom of 2 grown kids (son 24, daughter 26) and meemaw to one beautiful grand daughter who'll be 3 in May. I'm retired from the local school district where I worked for 13 years in jobs ranging from subbing in the cafeteria and classroom to being a coordinator for an afterschool program that was funded by a federal grant. When that grant ran out, so did my job. But I was okay with that since I knew DD would be going back to work and I'd be helping take care of GD. Weight issues all my life but when the scale went over 300lbs my cardiologist suggested I look into the IP program. I'll have my first clinic visit Wednesday of this week. I wanted to know what I was getting into so when I googled IP, this forum showed up. So glad it did! I feel as if I am going in armed to the teeth with info and determination and ready to tackle this weight loss for real this time. Hubbie, who's semi retired, is very supportive and willing to change his eating habits, too so foods we normally have eaten will not be available anymore. We love to travel and have a 2 week trip to UT/AZ/CO planned for April. I hope to be 25 lbs lighter by then. I scrapbook, read a lot, am a huge Walking Dead (love Daryl!!) fan (no pun intended but there it is) and I love Survivor, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, ABC on Thursday night, Game of Thrones; obviously way too much tv watching goes on in my house.

DIET / EXERCISE REGIMEN: I'm about 5'6" and have lost about 2 inches in height since my teens. Mama had osteoporosis along with many other health issues so I am careful with my calcium intake. I do not smoke nor drink alcohol now although both were very much a part of my life for many years (smoked for 14 years, quitting cold turkey when in my first trimester with DD, alcohol consumption from time I was 13 until about 35). I know how to eat healthy but I am a Carboholic. Pasta is my weakness. I can do without sweets but the pasta loss will be very hard to deal with. I know the IP diet will work for me. I have done low carb high protein on my own before and lost about 30 pounds. But I had no support, was doing it on my own and just plain got tired of trying to keep up with it all. I have bad knees but getting weight off will all but fix that. I love to walk but have trouble being motivated. I have a treadmill and recumbent bike that are collecting dust. I've done Curves but didn't like the new owner so quit going. I am always able to find an excuse not to exercise but I will start walking again. I have a goal weight of 175 pounds by April '16 in mind but just getting into Onderland will be awesome! One day at a time, one bite at a time, beating one craving at a time is my new motto.

SPECIAL HOPES / ASPIRATIONS / ACHIEVMENTS / CHALLENGES:
I want to be able to take my granddaughter to Disney and ride in the front car on the fastest, wildest, craziest roller coaster there! But first I want to just be able to get down in the floor and play with her without having to struggle to get back up. I want to be able to hike to the South Rim at Big Bend National Park. I want to be able to wear Levi button up jeans again!! I want to feel comfortable in public. I know there's a thinner me underneath all this fat and I want her to see daylight again.

mrslosingit 01-24-2015 11:03 PM

I love ESTER WILLIAMS and her movies.I can watch water ballet all day

polegirl 02-26-2015 04:04 PM

Hi there - My name is Tracy and I am 55 years old and need to lose about 30 pounds. I've been a lifetime dieter and need some support/friends who are in my age group and facing similar issues. I lost weight with Jenny Craig back in 20111, but it was very expensive and once those blue boxes went away, so did my weight loss. I look forward to making friends, finding recipes and staying accountable with like-minded women.

FluffyFat 03-30-2015 04:05 PM

This time it's going to be different!

I'm so happy to find a group of women in my own age group with which to share my weighty woes. Gone are the days when I would diet for a week or two to get back down to 110lbs and wear my skinny jeans. Now, my dream is to go from obese to overweight on that blasted BMI chart.

I quit smoking 20 years ago and ballooned up to 200lbs in less than a year. Since then I've lost and regained the same fifty pounds over and over. This time I'm going to try to keep my strategy simple enough to last a lifetime.

NO SWEETS

Yes, that's the whole program. You'll notice I didn't say "no sugar," because I'm not going to worry about the natural sugar in fruit or milk, I'm just going to eliminate the big ticket items like, candy, cookies, cake, donuts, desserts, pudding, pie, pastries. Forget them. They have no value, are not part of any healthy plan and they all set off my binge alarm like a fire engine.

Who am I? Just an average 68 year-old woman. One son, one husband, no grandchildren. I've been retired from working in a bank for several years and I love staying at home. Cleaning ( a little obsessive about that) cooking, laundry, and taking care of the pets take up part of the day, but I admit I spend hours on the internet.

Reading and my book club are my favorite pastimes. I also love doing jigsaw puzzles while listening to NPR and then, yes, I have lots of favorite TV shows. Turner Classic Movies gets a lot of my time. I seem to be nostalgic for a world I never experienced -- my parents' world of the 1930s and 40's. Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck and Joan Crawford keep me mesmerized.

So of course I'm fat. Nothing goes with old movies and the internet like a big bowl of ice cream. But I know I can still enjoy those things without synchronized munching and the party has to end before real health problems get the best of me.

katiam247 05-20-2015 10:34 AM

Just wanted to stop in and say "hello". I am 57 and newly retired due to my mom's passing in 2013 and leaving me able to do so. I have been up and down with my weight, but in the past 20 years it has been more an up than down. I am heading back to the South Beach plan, which I had lost 40+ lbs in 2007. I gained that back plus more of course. I really need to lose it again because now that I am older the old joints can't take it anymore. My left knee sounds like velcro when I go down the stairs! I, also, have an autoimmune disease that limits my ability to do anything the least bit strenuous. I sprained my danged ankle making my bed! I don't have any kids, but I have my furry babies, 2 spoiled cats and 1 miniature schnauzer who will not be called a dog. lol Have been married for 20 years (2nd go round). We enjoy shopping (yes, he LIKES to shop), and going to our permanent trailer at a campground on the weekends. I am hoping with losing weight, we will be able to do more things together.

glynne 05-20-2015 11:57 AM

Welcome Katiam :)

blue_meets_green 05-30-2015 09:34 PM

PERSONAL:
Hello I'm Sandra, age 50. My husband and I are living in Texas after several years in Virginia Beach. VA. We moved back to Texas to be closer to my parents since my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. My Dad, age 83 is in stage 6 of Alzheimer's (a form of Dementia). He does not remember who we (me and my siblings) are bit we know what is important is that we still have him in our lives.

My younger husband have been married for over 16 years. We have two sons (ages 8 and 14). We lost a baby daughter in 2008. We homeschool our sons and participate in a large homeschool support group that offers co-op courses. Between co-ops, field trips, sports and get togethers our children are enjoying life as homeschoolers.

I work at home as a voice over artist doing and enjoy doing it. When I am not doing voice over work, I earn extra income being a mural artist and also paint landscapes/portraits for clients.

My favorite hobbies are painting. drawing, making crafts, gardening and writing. My taste in movies varies but I mainly enjoy movies from the Marvel Movie franchise and anything that Tom Hiddleston is in. I am a huge fan of his. I enjoy working on paintings of him or other characters from the movies. I get most of my inspiration to paint from music or when I work on my husband's Loki costume as he is a cosplayer and dresses as Loki (even though he is a look a like for Andrew Lincoln).

DIET / EXERCISE REGIMEN:
My weight has gone up and down through the years. My highest weight was near 400 when I was in my late 20s. I am currently at 273. It is my hope to go down to 150. I have tried in the past Weight watchers, Atkins but my best success has been tracking calories, carbs and protein as well as daily exercise. I primarily used the glycemic index for the better part of the last several years since I am a diabetic (I was diagnosed at age 28) but since being gluten free, I used the My Fitness Pal app to track food and exercise.

SPECIAL HOPES/ASPIRATIONS/ACHIEVEMENTS/CHALLENGES:
In July of 2014 I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. I had suspicions for years something was wrong because I would get extremely sick after eating pasta, breads or other grains. It was terrible and I fought for months to convince my doctor to have me tested. Since then, I have gone strictly gluten free. I feel better and have more energy than I have had in years. It is costly but worth it because I am getting my health back so I can focus on exercising and eating healthy.

I am limited in what exercise equipment I can use due to a worn cart ledge and arthritis in my left knee (the same knee I had a meniscus tear (torn cartilage in) I am prohibited from using a stair master or bicycle because of the repeated bending of the knee, so it is my hope to try and dose more weight to help me knee. I can walk up to 1.5 miles before my knee gives so I try to do yoga and other exercises that do not place too much stress on my knee.

I want to enjoy my life with my young children and go places and do things that for years held me back.

Hi Blue :) I am from Va too - just outside of Richmond. Lived here my whole life - just different houses. Lol.

I am doing South Beach which is sort of similar to Atkins. I have an autoimmune disease, too, and it really limits my mobility. My rheumatologist called it Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Last week, I strained my ankle just getting up from the couch! Still limping this week! I am trying to stay away from "nightshades" as I have read it can aggravate autoimmune diseases.

I applaud you homeschooling your kids. They will definitely have an edge up, knowing what they are trying to push on kids in public schools these days. No kids here, but I hear what is going on in the news.

I am trying to get to 150, also. I weighed that when I got married and haven't seen that on the scale in 20 years. I got up to 237 as my highest and I am down to 218 now. I got back on SB Diet May 5th. I really need to get this extra weight off my joints, too.

Hi all! I'm Gail. Here's a quick rundown on me:
Turned 50 last November, married, no kids, one lazy old cat & in desperate need of dropping the extra pounds. I'm currently at 273, loosing 4 lbs. in the last 10 days or so. Not too bad of a start even if it might just be water weight...I had been consuming waaaay too much sodium.
Last fall I had to have an emergency hysterectomy, so that put me immediately into menopause. My incision didn't heal quite right, mostly because of my big belly, so I was laid up for nearly 4 months. Then the whole circus of trying to get my hormones in check...trust me, NO FUN!! I think that my gyno & I have finally found the right combination of meds to get me stable. THANK GOD!!! He did however tell me that I need to loose weight. Uh, DUH!!!
I was a member back about 2 yrs. ago, I think. I found that this was a great place for encouragement & support.
Let's see what else has gone on with me since I was here back when. My hubby, who I refer to as H, had a TIA almost 2 yrs. ago, so that was rough. But that's not all folks, he also was diagnosed with AFib, necessitating a pacemaker. All of these things combined with his HBP & diabetes he is on about 12 medications & 5 supplements. If it weren't for love, I'd probably ring his neck!
I'm glad to be back, feeling pretty healthy. I know I've got a lot of work, but I'm going to take it one meal/one meal/one excise at a time. I CAN DO THIS!!! I did it before, I can & will do it again! I'm kicking fat's butt & taking names! How bout you?
GOAL: loose 100+ pounds.

MINI GOAL: loose 20 or so pounds by my 51 birthday, Nov. 8th. The rest I'm still figuring out.

GAME PLAN: Eat healthy---no fast foods/no fried foods, eat more fruits/veggies. Cut back/out on soda---drink more H2O & healthy juices. Exercise---walk a min. of 45 minutes at least 6 times a week, stretching exercises & eventually some strengthening exercises.

Hope everyone reaches their goal!! We are in this together! We can do it!

KJ's story

I used food to numb. I am tired of yoyo and my groups of clothes, especially pants. I am a pear shaped and I want to be more proportional so I can fit into one size of pants. I grew up fat because all I did was bake cakes, cookies. I baked myself into 180-200 lbs in my teenage years. I joined weight watchers and by drinking diet soda I dropped to 150's. I went to OA but never understood the powerlessness because I wanted control. My yoyo is 15 to 25 lbs. I yoyo because I react to emotional eating. I joined Taking Pounds Off Sensibly 6 weeks to go somewhere where I would be weighed once a week. I need the accountability. I joined this because I needed additional support. I need to be lighter. I have a lot to learn. I hope to learn from anyone with success.
