Default The Truth About 'Before and After' Weight Loss Photos

I strongly believe that weight loss is still better than most of the negatives mentioned in the article, but this helps to get a balanced view of the issue.

This is why I preach to the young girls to get it off before it gets out-of-hand. When you're young and your skin is still resilient, you can lose 30 lbs and everything just shrinks back. It's when you get older, and when you gain and gain and gain before you do something about it, then you get the loose skin. Even surgery to remove it only helps so far.

But I agree with her when she says she can go up steps and bend over to tie her shoes. It's still healthier than having all the extra weight.

I think people need to remember that genetics and age play a big role in skin appearance after weight loss. A good example is pregnancy. I know women with 4+ children and no stretch marks or extra skin. And then I know someone with stretchmarks from her knees to her chest after one baby and a 35-lb weight gain.

That article was enlightening and needed to be written. At the same time, I hope it doesn't discourage anyone from taking the difficult journey toward healthy weight. The article writer's experience is a definite possibility for anyone after extreme weight loss, but it's not a mandatory sentence. It should have also come with that disclaimer: Your results may vary.
