Hello! Like many of you, joining this site did not accompany my first attempt at weight loss. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember. When I was in grade school, I hit my growth spurt before the rest of my friends, so always being the tallest one probably didn't help with the body image issues. Unfortunately, I also grew out - by the time I was in junior high, I had broken into the 200's. I'm only nineteen years old, but rest assured I have tried everything short of surgical procedures. No matter what I've done in the past, the weight just doesn't come off. After all of the things I've tried, it has only recently dawned on me what I was doing wrong - no matter my method, I was always searching for a quick drop on the scale, expecting to deal with maintenance when I got there. However, after having seen the scale climb regardless of various weight loss attempts, I now realize it's not a diet or a goal, it's a lifestyle change. I can't eat frozen meals for the rest of my life, but that doesn't mean I have to live on veggies and plain chicken - "in a healthy diet, nothing is off limits in moderation." I know I should always try to go for the healthy option, but one piece of chocolate isn't going to tear down all my hard work.
Sorry, I know this is really rambly, but I'm just so excited! I feel like it has finally clicked and it's for real this time. I've been lurking these forums for quite a while now, and I think it's going to be a great place to keep myself on track, accountable, and inspired!
PS, if any of you are around my age/weight, I would LOVE to talk to you! It's so hard to find people online in the same boat as me. <3
