40's SUMMER CHALLENGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hard to believe but June 21 will be here before we know it!!! Let's get ready for summer!!!! Yes, that's right..another challenge!! List your goals...and goals don't always have to be about your weight..it could be about drinking more water, taking vitamins...working out!!! Let's do this!!!!!!!!!:dizzy:
|
I turn 40 in three weeks, but I'm hoppin' on this thread! I've got three month-of-May goals, but June 21st might be more realistic!
1. I made a deal with myself that any "skinny" clothes that do not fit me right now are going into a bag. If they don't fit by summer, they're being donated. 2. I would really like to drop 5-6 pounds and keep it off. 3. The sugar addiction has to go. |
Yay, Zumba! Here we go again. But the weather is finally turning(wasn't it GORGEOUS in NY yesterday?) and I feel better just being back on 3fc. Here are my goals:
1) 12+ cups of water a day 2) Supplements every day 3) Exercise 5x/week, 2 of which will include jogging 4) Wear pedometer daily and get up to at least 5000 steps/day 5) Write down everything consumed 6) No cheat meals/days off at least through Mem Day w/e - will re-evaulate then. I'm using 139.8 as my starting weight, but I'm thinking I'm really closer to 137(salt and carbs in 2 days prior to weigh-in). flippy, welcome. Do you have any plans for your birthday? |
Hi Natamars! I have 4 hikes planned during the month, a zip-line tour in the mountains, pedicure and overnight stay in a hotel with one friend, a "girls day" with my mom (getting my make-up done professionally and learning how to do it) then lunch, a surprise outing with another friend then a movie night at her house..... so YES! Lol! Lots and lots of plans!
|
Flippy...those sound like great plans!!!
Natamars..Yes..here we go AGAIN!!! grrrrrr!!!! LOL! Let's make it work this time...your goals sound doable and with the warmer weather maybe we'll have incentive. My motivation was wearing a bikini this past week in florida....BLEH....i want to be able to wear my cute summer clothes with pride.... 1) Low carb 2) add weight resistance to my workouts. 3) add bike riding and walking to my workouts. 4) no cheats.....thru memorial day...then reevaluate like Natamars! LOL 5) no sugar 6) up water consumption |
I am in...
1- 64 oz's water a day minumum 2- 10,000 steps plus on my pedometer every day 3-C25k 3 days a week 4-Breakfast EVERY day |
Great goals Jules.....breakfast every day is so important!
|
Monday, what went well: 1305 calories, took supplements, 13 min elliptical(ran out of time), 1 hour body sculpting, 83% healthy calories
What could be better: 6281 steps(jules, love your goal, what do you do to get that many in?), only 6 cups water Woke up @ 3AM with a terrible headache. Had an english muffin with a little butter to get my Advil down, so not a great start, but I need something bland like that when I take a pain reliever or I get sick. Feeling better now. Practicing my 5K tonight on the treadmill - the race is Saturday. I ran for the first time outside Sunday and it was TERRIBLE - didn't even last a mile. Apparently I am incredibly affected by the humidity. Luckily the forecast for Saturday is cool and dry! Have a great day! |
I would like to join in if I could!
1) Finish 30 Day Shred 2) Watch my sugar 3) Fit in extra walking with my kids when the weather is agreeable! |
Accept Challenge
Hello All
This will be my 3rd Challange with Zumbachic and Natamers and I really hesitated 'cause I have some other challenges I'm working on. I would just miss you chicks too much so I am in, but not for weight loss. Min of 64 Oz of Water every day, Do something aerobic for at least 20mins, per morning, Do something aerobic for at least 20mins, per Evening and keep carbs low. |
Tuesday, what went well: 1340 calories, 55 min on treadmill including jogging my 5K, over 12000 steps in total, took supplements
Need to improve: 7 glasses water, too many refined carbs(white english muffin, granola bar, 2 Ritz crackers, 100-cal pack), no fruit Plan for today: I'm donating blood, so I'll allow myself some refined carbs and extra calories today(for some reason a can of Coke makes me feel better after donating). Going to skip the gym tonight. Will focus on tons of water and getting in some fruit. Izza, great to see you! I love your aerobic exercise goals. I'm struggling with getting in more aerobic activity outside the gym now that the weather has finally improved. Delta, are you doing the 30DS every day? What level are you on? I have the DVD but have only used it sporadically. |
Hi natamars - I am trying to do 30DS six days and then a day off. I was really close to completing about a month and half ago and then hurt my back, so I had to stop doing it for a few weeks. I started level 2 this week (after doing a week of level 1), so we will see how that goes!
|
Are you gals talking about the 30 day shred with Jillian Michaels. I have that DVD..did you feel it worked? I never really got the ball rolling with it.....
Okay so I'm down a little bit more...Last night was really hard..I came hoome from the gym and was STARVING but had limited choices of what to have due to my low carb diet....Had some cheese but I really wanted chocolate!!! |
Originally Posted by natamars: Good luck on Saturday! |

|
Good morning! Have been doing well with exercise - it has been snowing/raining again, so I haven't made it outside for extra walking. And yesterday was a no willpower with the sugar day - hoping to get back control today!
Zumbachica...it is the Jilllian Michaels DVD. I have done it before - I don't usually lose much weight, but I can really tell a difference with how clothes fit! |
Wednesday, what went well: kept calories under 1500(1485)
What didn't go well: let myself eat what I wanted due to blood donation, so had 500 calories in cookies(surprising how easy that is to do!), missed supplements, no exercise(had planned a rest day), only 3463 steps Plan for today: Keep calories closer to 1300, Zumba class tonight |
Nat: yes, so easy to have cookies but Bless your heart for donating blood!
Delta: You're inspiring me to take out that DVD!! I do enough cardio but really need something to tighten the junk! Jules, good for you for walking at work!!! we need to get movement into our day whenever we can!!! Izza..we would miss you too!! glad you're sticking around!!!!!! we need your support!! Well.......today is one year since my Dad died...really having a hard time with it. I binged last night on some ice cream...miraculously this gave me a stomach ache so the binge didn't last very long....not having an easy time emotionally lately but the one thing I can control is what I shove in my pie hole....SO I'm hanging in there albeit hard to do. have a good day all..... |
Thursday: what went well: 1335 calories, Zumba class, 9266 steps, took supplements
Could be better: not enough fruit and veggies and water Shopping for some blueberries and grapes this weekend to get more fruit in. Also planning on huge salads and grilled chicken for lunch every day. Running my 5K tomorrow - will stop by the health food store tonight for some portable snacks. Zumba, yesterday must have been a tough day for you. I hope things get better soon. btw, do you realize you and I are always within like 2 lbs. of each other, lose or gain? I think if one of us could just break this cycle, the other would miraculously follow!! Have a wonderful Friday, everyone! |
Day 4...
My "skinny" clothes are bagged up and in the attic, waiting for my Memorial Day test try-on. No junk, no picking or unscheduled snacking/late-night eating. Every calorie counted. Down 3 pounds. |
It was finally nice weather here again - so, I got in the extra stroller walking. Exercise DVD done and doing well with avoiding the sugar (so far!). Looking forward to a relatively quiet weekend...
|
Friday, what went well: 1415 calories. Went shopping for running shoes(very cool, they videotaped me on the treadmill to analyze my stride) so I was not home for pizza night. Took supplements.
Needs improvement: only 5366 steps, still not enough fruit I was down 1.5 on the scale from yesterday - couldn't stop peeing last night! I'm home from my 5K. Very pleased - finished in exactly 35 minutes. There were a few points where I had to walk because it was so crowded, and I walked up a few steep hills, so I was jogging faster than a 12-minute mile. I'd been doing more like 13-14 minutes per mile on the treadmill, so I'm please. LOVE the new shoes I got last night - no shin pain at all, feel much more stable. I'm already at almost 1100 calories for the day, so I'm sure I'll be higher today. flippy, YAY on the 3 lbs! delta, have you cut out sugar completely? Are you having withdrawl at all? I feel for my health I'd be better cutting it totally, and I've done it for weeks at a time, but it's hard! |
natamars - Great job on the 5K! I have not cut out sugar completely, but just being mindful of it and cutting it down.
Was excited that the rain stopped this afternoon and I got out for a walk with the kids. |
Saturday, what went well: 5K race, 17125 steps for the whole day
Could be better: forgot supplements, not enough water, 1700 calories, only 1 fruit and 1 vegetable all day So now I'm looking for all the 5K's in my area to try to do some more! there are a bunch of charity ones this time of year. Going shopping today for lots of healthy food, esp. fruits and stuff to make a huge salad for the week. delta, I'm working on cutting sugar down too. I definitely find that the more I eat, the more I want. Trying to limit it to mostly a few small pieces of dark chocolate a day(hey, it's antioxidants!). Hope everyone's having a great weekend. |
Hello chickies!!
Hi NAT!! My friend did a 5K today, i wonder if it was the same one as you!!! Way to go girlfriend. You sound like you have it together. Keep up the great work !!!! Flippy: Let's try on those summer clothes Memorial Day and feel all "that"...:) Bad weekend for me. My brother was sent to the hospital on the one year anniversary of my dad's death! Winds up he has an ulcer, high bp and a heart beating too fast......on meds. This does not surprise me. He and his wife both eat total CRAP...are overweight and don't work out. Even though they are both young they look much older than their years...the body can just take so much abuse. My mother is besides herself since my brother was and always will be her "baby"...she isn't well herself so I tried calming her down, not possible. She needs to be on meds and won't take them for her anxiety. She becomes abusive towards me when she has these "episodes". So what does that mean ? I had a nice big soft pretzel at my son's soccer game and a few donuts on teh drive home from my abusive , out of control visit with my mother. How the **** can I take care of myself when I am surrounded by craziness??? Sorry to unload here but I need to justify eating those donuts...LOL...although there is no excuse. Skinny people have problems too, they just don't turn to food to cope. Oh well, here's hoping to a better day tomorrow!!!! |
Delta: using stevia helped big time with me on the no sugar .....
|
Sunday, what went well: 1400 calories, 45 min ellipical, 10110 steps
Could be better: not enough fruit and veggies Ran around getting all the crap done that I didn't on Saturday. My son had a great soccer game - they were actually told not to score anymore because they were beating the other team 4-0, so every time they did after that(this had never happened before, so they didn't quite get it), the other team got to take a penalty kick. Zumba, the 5K I did was at the Bronx Zoo - really fun! There's another one in my town this Saturday that I think I'm going to sign up for as well. I think it's addictive! I'm so sorry about the problems with your family. Did your brother take this as a wake-up call at all, or does he refuse to see the connection between lifestyle and health? Did your mom actually get a prescription or she won't even do that? I have some meds that I carry around with me for anxiety attacks. I've taken them maybe 20 times since I got them three years ago, but just knowing they're in my purse can often help me work through it. They can also be taken every day if someone's going through an extremely stressful event, but they can be very addictive apparently. Totally understand turning to food when stressed. And it does actualy make you feel better in the moment - so frustarting. I try to project to how I will feel after, but it doesn't always work. I dreamt that I was eating HUGE M&M and chocolate chip cookies. No matter how many I ate, they were still as warm as if they'd just come out of the oven. I was trying to figure out how to count the calories for them when dh woke me up(at 4AM!) to tell me bin Laden was dead. Great news, but I really could've waited a few more hours to hear that. |
I am impressed with you 5K runners! I am not sure that I could run around the block right now! Did you do the C25K program? My husband started it this month.
Zumbachica - thanks for the Stevia idea! |
Nat: Bronx zoo? sounds like a really fun run...
My mother refuses to take anything for her nerves...the doctor went as far as to tell her that she needed to see a psychiatrist. She would rather just make me miserable. Dealing with it the best way that I can today by not dealing it. I've chosen not to speak to my family for the time being for my own mental state. My weight is back up but I know that I haven't been eating well this past weekend plus PMS time is here...onward we go.....back on the low carb bandwagon...... have a good day all.... |
Monday, what went well: 1085 calories(was running around and didn't have time to eat), 1 hr. body sculpting
Needs to improve: No supplements, no cardio, only 2826 steps(yikes), still need more fruits and veggies Zumba, families can be like that. You need to take care of your own health and sanity first. I'm sure the weight will come back off quickly. I'm back under 135 the last few days - the water weight from the Chinese food and excess carbs took over a full week to flush out - need to remember that before I panic next time. |
The sun and warmer weather are back - at least for today. So, I am hoping to get out with the kiddos and the stroller for extra walking later today. 30DS is done for the day...was a little bit better about the sugar yesterday, but not as good as I could have been. Have a great day!
|
Today is the first day taht I'm truly back to low carbing, no sugar and I took supplements today. Hoping to lose my cravings soon......grilling up some chicken and vegetables tonight and making a big salad. I'm exhausted lately. It takes me forever to get out of bed and it is such a struggle. Hoping that the vitamins help with that....There's just no time in my life to deal with exhaustion!! Almost every minute of my day is scheduled for me to be doing something....
Did not get on the scale today...just too afraid...will do tomorrow... |
Tuesday: 1445 calories, took supplements, got more fruit and veggies
No exercise I had totally planned on going for a run last night, but by the time we got back from soccer practice I was starving and wiped and just wanted to sit on the couch. Zumba, I'm having the same energy problem you have. My house and car are a mess because by the time I get home I have no desire to clean. Meanwhile things are getting chaotic and disorganized and I HATE it. I force myself to go to the gym because I know I'll be miserable otehrwise(still kicking myself for not going last night). Just had a check-up and things looked good, although I still have to get bloodwork done. But they checked my iron when I gave blood last week and it was fine. I'm defnitely drinking a lot of water and eating more protein too. Very frustrating. Still dragging this morning but hoping today is better. |
Hello All
I am Here.... Turns out it is a good thing I am not Going for a weight loss Challenge this time as I have to do some metabolism repair... I have been quite successful in dropping pounds but my body will store it if I look a anything not perfectly clean..... I don't want to live like that so I have opted to Continue with my exercise plan, But I have increased my Caloric intake and will increase again until I can loss on 1500 Cals. I'm Using the Curves Diet as a guideline. 1200, 1500, 2200. Any other suggestions on how I can my body get out of starvation mode are appreciated
So for this challenge my goal is Healthy clean Calories and exercise. natamars: Great Job on the 5K, I so want to do one... but not yet!!! Zumba: Push through the exhaustion, That's just your Bod in Carb withdrawal... it will pass. Deltadawn: I cut out Processed sugar and Aspartame, I use Stevia, as a 0 Cal substitute. and I still allow myself a tsp of Brown sugar on my Oatmeal a couple days a week. I've missed you guys !!! Good to be back. |
I'm been looking at this thread for a while ... may I join?
I did so well when I first started then I started working and things just went south. I am no longer working and trying to give my journey my all. My goals for May would be ... 1. get out of the 170's 2. be able to do 2 full miles without stopping (treadmill/track) and/or go to Curves and/or straight Zumba (Fridays) 3. plan weekend meals and take them with me 4. remember that a snack is supposed to be a snack 5. come on here to talk to you all if I GET READY to do any OFF PLAN eating 6. keep accountable Keep in MY mind, tell myself daily THIS IS DOABLE, THIS IS DOABLE |
Nice enough weather again today so that I could for walk with my daughter. 30DS done for the day...
|
:welcome3: Lovetobe150 Great to have you !!!!
Missed my workout yesterday, but the diet is good! I never thought it would be difficult to eat 1500 clean calories.... but it is especially if you don't eat snacks.... I am going to workOUT NOW !!!! HAVE A FABULOUS DAY ALL. |
Wednesday, good: 1 hr body sculpting, better on fruits and veggies
NI: too much processed food, no supplements, no cardio, 1485 calories My plan is to keep my calories between 1200 and 1500, but to try to stay at the lower end. They've crept up the last few days, and I haven't done any cardio since Sunday. Think next week I will switch out 1 or 2 of the sculpting classes for some running. I'll never improve my time or distance if I don't get out there! Packed lots of healthy food for today. Zumba tonight. Izza, that's great that you're eating clean! I'm thinking that's really what I need to lose the last 10 or so. Have you had any withdrawls? Delta, YAY for getting in the walk and 30DS! Love, terrific goals! Welcome to our group! |
Good morning everyone! 30DS over with...now if the rain would just go away, we could get outside.
Izzadawn - I have a friend who is eating every 4 hours without snacks, are you doing something similiar? Hi love2b150! Off to a meeting... |
Hello My Friends
Happy Cinco De Mayo....
Hi all! Well the scale is starting to go down AGAIN and I can breathe in my jeans a little better. This induction period of Atkins is the pits, right now I don't feel well....shakey, kind of sickly.....but I know it is temporary until my body gets used to the carb withdrawal and I get my potassium level where it needs to be......I went into Anny Taylor Loft the other day and looked at all the cute new summer clothes they have out...that was incentive for me to get it together......lets hope I can pull it off this challenge....... Natamars: YOu are doing awesome with your workouts!! Keep it up!!! Love2b: welcome!! Izza: the curves diet is a sound diet....healthy. Good luck girl!!!!! |
