Tuesday: 1425 calories, no exercise, no supplements

Stressful day at work and at home yesterday - ugh. Today should be better at work - we'll see about home. DH is being a PITA the last few...

HAVE to get in a run today - 2 more days til my official weigh-in and my scale is back up a bit - really want to be under 134 for the week.

zumba, hope your resistance work goes well. Let me know what you do. I know I should be using the machines at the gym but I keep putting it off. I'm trying to get more running in and I can't get motivated to do both on the same day.

Delta Dawn 05-18-2011 11:30 AM

30DS done for the day...walk in.
natamars - hope today is better for you!
zumba - unofrtunately, my tastebuds thought it tasted just fine! :)
Happy Wednesday everyone!

natamars 05-19-2011 09:30 AM

Wednesday: 1260 calories, supplements, jogged 3 miles

I'm especially proud of dragging my butt out to the gym last night - DH didn't get home until almost 8, so I didn't finish my workout until after 9, which is very late for me.

Woke up about 5 with a throbbing headache. I think it's the humidity or barmetric pressure or something. DH brought me my cure-all: toast with butter, black tea with sugar and milk, and 2 Advil. Could never have made it out the door otherwise.

delta, I'm with you on the sugar - I keep hearing from people that when they cut it out or drop it down things taste too sweet and they don't like them anymore - I still do! I have been able to limit myself lately but I do have a little chocolate just about every day.

Zumbachica 05-19-2011 10:01 AM

Hi everybody...i managed to get that lb. off so it must have been some kind of fluke....happy to see that scale go down and I'm hoping that it continues to do so.....just trying hard to keep away from sugar, bread, pasta and rice.....the only thing I still crave is bread so I'm trying not to buy really good bread and have it in the house.

Nat I had a really bad headache yesterday and felt washed out..not sure if it is this rain and humidity or waht....SO no resistance training for me. I just can't get this resistance training thing off the ground...I'm doomed to be mushy and flabby forever!

iaradajnos 05-19-2011 12:39 PM

Hi everybody. I had three days of below goal food (goal is 1500) so I'm hoping to see success. I have my niece in town for a week from yesterday (but is going away for the weekend to NYC). I made her and my younger son fried bread dough, strawberries and turkey bacon. I joined in. It was only a couple Tbsp of oil for the whole batch and still some let over. I think it was 600 cals.

I'm back on track Friday and Saturday so this week should be a good one. I'm also measuring myself weekly from this past Sunday. If I recall my last odyssey of weight loss, there were weeks when I saw a change in either (sometimes both) the scale or measurements. It will helpfully keep me motivated. My super tight jeans are not fitting comfortably. I'm waiting to have them be loose!

I had two little vanilla-like oreo type cookies yesterday. I haven't had such cookies in a while. They did taste super sweet--but I ate them. I do notice but still eat.

Delta Dawn 05-19-2011 04:28 PM

Was able to get 30DS done today, but no walking as of yet.

natamars 05-20-2011 07:38 AM

Thursday: 1275 calories, 1 hr Zumba, 10000 steps total

No supplements or fruit

132.8 this morning - yay! New low this year! Going to stick with what I'm doing for now - trying to keep my calories as close to 1200 as possible, minimum 5 workouts/week, no "outside food" - today is day 26 of this plan. Also need to increase distance on my jogging until I can do 6 miles straight - getting ready for my 10K in mid-September.

iaradajnos, you're doing great! I need to update my measurements - thanks for the reminder.

zumba, I am sure at your weight and activtity level you're not flabby at all! I bet you would see amazing results really quickly because you don't have that layer of fat over your muscles that I did when I started(and still have in many places, although the layer is slowly getting thinner).

Happy Friday!!!

Zumbachica 05-20-2011 10:15 AM

Natamars: OMGosh girl...thats a great number...you are almost there!!!! You are so sweet to say that I must not be flabby but I am...I'm what they call "skinny fat"....flabby although i'm not considered overweight on the charts...(depending on the charts, mind you)......hoping that resistance training helps with problem areas..especially my enormous saddle bags...i swear, I think my thighs are going to have their own zip code soon....

Bunco tonight, have to try hard to keep things in check. I'm at the mercy of the hostess and what she makes...also there is candy on every table....ugh.....I hope I have strength tonight.

Hydra 05-21-2011 01:46 PM

You are all doing so great!!! :grouphug:
I have been keeping on plan and drinking lots of water, keeping up with lots of healthy food choices and walking too! The sun has been shining for a couple days :flow1: so walking outside has been a real treat, stay away rain!
I am down to 203 now and I am just one tiny little pound from losing a total of 50 lbs...wow, 50 whole pounds, kind of blows my mind, lol.

natamars 05-21-2011 02:06 PM

Friday: 1510 calories, 40 minutes in the pool(did some walking, swimming, just tried to keep moving)

Bad on fruit and veggies, no supplements

Crazy day running around yesterday - good stuff - massage, book fair at my son's school , etc., just busy and trying to work in between.

hydra, 50 lbs. is a HUGE mmilestone! Do you have a treat planned for yourself? And right after that you'll be in onederland - wow!

zumba, I am sure with all the zumba you do the muscles are there! My teachers tend to incorporate a lot of arm movements in the dances and I've come out of there with sore shoulders. Do you do much of the Zumba fitness stuff for your core and legs? Have you thought about seeing a personal trainer to get you going? I've done it in the past, can't justify the expense now though.

natamars 05-22-2011 08:18 AM

Saturday: 1580 calories, fruit and veggies, 1 hr. Spin

No supplements

Went higher on the calories than I had planned - didn't eat enough all day and then splurged on a dinner that included a crab cake, a little pasta with buttre, and even a piece of bread! Was pleasantly surprised that the scale was not up this morning.

Delta Dawn 05-23-2011 01:04 PM

Happy Monday!
I am officially done with 30 days of the 30DS. I tried the Banish Fat, Boost Your Metabolism Jillian DVD - that is one crazy hour of circuit training! Was at a birthday party yesterday and I didn't have any cake!

Zumbachica 05-23-2011 02:55 PM

Delta..congrats on 30 days of the shred..so tell me......did it make a difference? do you have muscles now?

I ate horribly over the weekend, gained three lbs last week..when youre only trying to lose 10 that is a lot.....grrrrrrrrrr.....onward we go...

Natarmas...great job that you didnt gain even though you had bread...maybe you found that great happy medium where yhou can have some things and not gain weight....what does that feel like?

lets have a good week everybody.....this rain is doing a head job on me..all i want to do is sleep.

natamars 05-23-2011 03:20 PM

Sunday: 1495 calories. Walked .75 miles, jogged 3.25 miles.
Food choices: meh

Weight up slightly today - need to keep calories closer to 1200 for the next few.

zumba, I'm sure the 3 is not all real, probably mostly bloat. Isn't this weather awful? I lay around Sunday morning, barely got off the couch until noon.

delta, do you see/feel a differences after the 30 days? Did you take measurements?

natamars 05-24-2011 01:41 PM

Monday: 1465 calories, no exercise, supplements

Well, I fully intended to go to body sculpting class last night, but as I drove home I felt more and more tired, and by the time I got home I collapsed on the couch again. Is it Monday, the gloomy weather, allergies? Stayed under 1500 calories barely. Scale was up another .2 - I wanted to yell at it - STOP! YOU'RE GOING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION!

Zumbachica 05-24-2011 01:42 PM

Nat I was starving when I got home from zumba last night..but I fought off the urge to eat and was happy to see that I lost two lbs today so it was definitely bloat. my body seems to be responding better to diet whereas before no matter what I did it was almost impossible to lose an ounce. I am not getting comfortable though, have a ways to go.....

Finally some sun today....no more rain...I hope it stays like this through the weekend.....

Today I forgot to eat breakfast, had a apple pecan chicken salad from wendy's' but added my own olilve oil and vinegar instead of the dressing they gave me. will have a protein shake in the afternoon and eating roasted chicken and veggies tonight.....

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Delta Dawn 05-24-2011 03:05 PM

Hi there...for those of you who asked about 30DS and seeing a difference, I am only down 2 pounds, but I felt like I was more toned and that clothes fit better. I wasn't on top of things enough to do measurements at the beginning.
We are off on a road trip tomorrow evening and will be driving for 28+ hours one way, so it should be interesting with the exercise over the next week and a half...

natamars 05-25-2011 08:05 AM

Tuesday: 1325 calories, 55 minutes on the treadmill(jogged 3.5 mi @ 5mph plus warmup and cooldown)

Low on fruit, no supplements

Felt better yesterday, but it was suddenly very hot and sticky here yesterday so I took my workout inside.

Scale was back down today - hoping for a 1 lb. loss this week.

delta, 28 hours - yikes! That will be a challenge, but you're up to it.

zumba, YAY for not eating when you got home. Avoiding the night eating is a key factor for me. I'm trying to go straight from the gym to the shower, then read or watch TV in bed, totally avoiding the kitchen.

natamars 05-26-2011 06:47 AM

Wednesday: 1410 calories, supplements, fruit and veggies, 1 hour body sculpt

Today is 32 straight days of counting everything and no outside food. Feeling restless with the long weekend coming up. I'm going to look for some stuff that tastes bad for you but really isn't too bad, like some baked sweet potato fries. No plans to eat out until Father's Day.

Zumbachica 05-26-2011 09:26 AM

I'm up a bit because I succumbed to popcorn yesterday. these late night cravings are really a problem......I need to learn how to just ignore the hunger at night....

I have noticed my arms have gotten flabbier and flabbier...i just don't get it...but ready to do something about it. Enough is enough.....

Nat you have been doing great about not having outside food!! That is no easy task!!!

natamars 05-27-2011 06:23 AM

Thursday: 1135 calories, 3 mile jog, 1 hr. Zumba!

Down 1.4 lbs. this week - really happy. I'm expecting this to slow WAY down soon to the point where I'll be lucky to lose .5 a week, so I'm enjoying this now.

zumba, do they have any strength training classes at any of your gyms? I find that easier than trying to motivate myself to work on the machines.

I am SO hungry right now but need to fast for bloodowork this morning. I'm bringing food with me so I can eat immediately afterward.

natamars 05-28-2011 08:51 PM

Friday: 1540 caloires, too many carbs, walk on the beach

Saturday: 1600 calories, 1 hr. spin class, 1.5 mile walk/jog with my son

Haven't been great w/ food quality the last few days. Took some time off from work yesterday so things have been unstructured. Planning on getting in a longer run tomorrow and trying to keep my calories down. Made a huge salad tonight and will stick to one veggie burger when dh barbeques. I actually hate hamburgers and hot dogs anyway! Got some yummy frozen yogurt for a treat.

Weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS here - sunny and hot during the day, cool and breezy at night. Hope everyone is having a wonderful long weekend.

Izzadawn 05-30-2011 08:45 AM

Hello Everyone
Sorry I've not Been around had a virus kill my computer and work is hectic. But I am greatful that of this past month of a higher calorie diet I've not Gained as much as I thought I would. Some I am back...

natamars 05-31-2011 12:43 PM

Sunday: 1755 calories, no exercise, too many carbs
Monday: 1315 calories, 65 min on treadmill(4 mile jog @ 5mph plus warm-up and cooldown)

Back at work today. It was ridculously humid here yesterday, so I jogged on the treadmill. My gym's not well air-conditioned though, I was drenched after a few minutes. Proud of myself for hitting 4 miles - personal best!

Still up about a lb. from last week's weigh-in - assume it's realted to carbs and humidity. Ugh, and TOM is only a week or so away again - how did that happen?

Good to see you, Izza! Sorry about your compuer - what a PITA that is!

Zumbachica 05-31-2011 03:43 PM

Hi everybody!!!!! Well I thought I was doing great but had a slight setback....Friday morning weighed in at 135.8...but today weighed in at over 139!! WHAT THE HAY??? I did eat alot over the weekend but still....That is a pretty big gain for a few days...back to the drawing board with trying to lose the few that gained and more...

Back on the wagon today!!!

Tomorrow is June 1.....20 days..we're down for the count!!!! Let's do this!!!

Nice to see you Izza....computer problems stink!!

Natamars...yes it was wicked humid, I was drenched yesterday but was adamant about not putting on the A/C yet!!! Thank goodness today is better....

natamars 06-01-2011 09:52 AM

Tuesday: 1390 calories. 25 min elliptical, weight machines

Have been doing better on calories the last few days, although I was SO hungry yesterday I left myself no cushion for the evening. I stopped eating at about 5, and then had to stay away from the kitchen. Maybe because TOM is due in a week or so? Hope I don't feel like this all week!

Zumba, thought of you when I decided to do the weight machines last night. It was harder than I thought, and I definitely was not lifting as much as I used to when I did them regularly. My mp3 player was an enormous help as it kept me from feeling too self-conscious and from getting bored. Will be incorporating them more regularly.

Of course there's no way you gained 4 lbs. - eat clean and drink water and it will be gone. I think the humidity makes you hold water too(at least I'm hoping!). I'm still slightly above Friday's weigh-in so I probably won't have a loss this week.

Zumbachica 06-01-2011 08:57 PM

Hi Nat!!! I lost some of the 4 lbs....didn't eat a whole lot today so I'm hoping to be back to my low weight from friday tomorrow...I did eat a lot over the weekend but I was thinking one or two lbs gain the most..NOT FOUR!!! Winds up today I had TOM so maybe I was bloated to boot....anyway back to clean eating!!!! Oh and YES humidity makes you gain, atleast thats what they used to tell us in Weight Watchers.
Good for you for lifting weights today!!! I had killer cramps today so i opted out...but will get to it asap especially I'm down to the wire for Zumba convention also and want to have some muscles and good stamina for when I'm there...........
Okay so where is everybody????????

natamars 06-02-2011 12:44 PM

Wednesday: 1510 calories, supplements, 3 mile jog

My weight was down slightly this morning(TMI, but probably due to finally going to the bathroom) - hoping to hold on so I can have a tiny loss this week.

Is the Zumba convention in Orlando? I was vacationing there once when it was going on - funny seeing everyone running around in their gear.

Have you still not turned on the a/c? I'm like you - I wait as long as possible to turn it on(same with the heat in the fall). Today is absolutely perfect outside!

Yeah, where is everyone? Only 19 more days! I'll probably count my 6/17 weight as the official one for this challenge since I'm now eating out Saturday and Sunday that weekend.

natamars 06-03-2011 07:45 AM

130.8 this morning. Grateful for anything at this point. Want to see 129 so badly!!!!!

Izzadawn 06-03-2011 08:27 AM

Hello Chickies

This week I have re lost 2 of the 5 lbs I had gained last month, I will be happy if I reach 178 by the 21st. I am hoping 2 start a Couch 2 5K running program as there is a 5K in August I would like to do.

Have a Great weekend!!!

Zumbachica 06-04-2011 02:36 PM

Hi Ladies.

Well I got either a really BAD stomach virus or food poisoning. I believe it was food poisoning. Sicker than a dog....the flip side is that I lost weight...although it is not fat loss but due to hydration. I'm sure I"ll put some back on quickly now that i feel better, but I'm going to enjoy seeing that low number on my ticker for now...LOL....

Natamars I don't know what to say to you but give you kudos. You are doing so well....129 is so close you can probably smell and taste it...look how much weight you've lost!!!

Izza you will get the rest of that five off....especially if you are training for a 5K!!!

Gorgeous weather out. I didn't teach my classes this morning, still feeling kind of weak and sickly. Doing housework today and then sitting in the yard and enjoying nature in all its splendor.

Oh yeah Nat, the convention is in Orlando and it is just absolutely out of control...Zumba kool aid to the max!! It is a lot of work for me, not a vacation..I try and learn all that I can to bring back to my students.

A

Zumbachica 06-04-2011 02:37 PM

We're getting down to the wire ladies...lets' do this!!!

natamars 06-04-2011 04:03 PM

Took a bit of a diet break last night. I'd eaten about 1000 calories going into dinner, and decided I was going to have some real pizza. I estimate between 2 slices of pizza, some wine, frozen yogurt, and juice, I ate about 1200 for dinner. Felt horribly bloated for hours, although everything tasted great at the time! Have been eating very light today and drinking a lot of water. Running a 5K tonight.

Zumba, so sorry you're sick! Did anyone else in your family get it? I SO understand the scale thing though - I always drag myself on the scale when I have a stomach thing just for the pleasure of seeing the low number.

Izza, you should definitely try the C25K. Pretty sure there's always a current thread under exercise with people who are doing it. I didn't really follow it, but did increase my distance slowly over time and am doing my third 5K tonight, working toward a 10K in September. I learn something with each one, and the're a lot of fun!

natamars 06-05-2011 07:05 AM

Saturday: 1425 calories. Ran a 5K.

The 5K was fun yesterday. My son ran the kids' fun run 1K - his smile as he crossed the finish line was awesome. I finished in 35 minutes again, but I was really proud because I jogged the whole time. There were some steep hills that most people around me walked up, but I didn't stop. I finished 231out of 395 people - of course some of those walked it. I'm so inspired by the older runners!

TOM is here again, so I'm avoiding the scale for a few days. Hope everyone's doing great!

Zumbachica 06-05-2011 10:25 AM

Hello all!!

Well I gained back some of the hydration I lost from tossing cookies all night the other night and I'm at a nice solid 135 which was my goal for this challenge...I'd like to see the scale lower than that......looking for 130 to be my ultimate goal..and that would be 130 with muscle.

Feeling a lot better so I'm hoping I'll be back to my normal routine soon, and am including some bike riding now that it is warmer out and hopefully FINALLY some resistance training although I never seem to get off the ball with that...maybe i need to bite the bullet and pay for a trainer.....

Natamars, thats awesome about your son's 1k..how awesome!! I know so many runners, I just don't get it...the only thing I run for is a sale at Macy's or someone is coming after me with a knife. LOL..just not my thing but how I wish it was . I had a boss that ran 7 miles every morning before work, she was 50 and had an awesome body.....and a great sound mind from the stress release of running.

Well son has soccer today and wants to go to a friends house beforehand so I had better get steppin'.

natamars 06-06-2011 09:42 AM

Sunday: 1125 calories, 45 min elliptical

Really proud of myself - I was at a beach party for my son's friend yesterday for 3 hours and only ate a handful of blueberries and a Fiber One bar I'd packed. Totally avoided all the pizza and chips. Of course I'm still up 2 lbs. since Friday - will assume it's TOM, which brought with it major cramps this morning.

Zumba, CONGRATS on reaching your goal so early! That is awesome!! I understand the toning thing - I wouldn't care if I wieghed 10 lbs. more if my body fat were lower and I was firmer. You could probably find access to a great trainer with all your contacts in different gyms. The last guy I had didn't push me enough, unfortunately.

I've dine a bit of the running on and off for a while...mostly off. I really like doing these charity runs. It's a good time, you get to try different courses and different challenges. I'm going to get in a run tonight before it gets ridiculously hot and humid later in the week.. I'll never be one of those people who runs outside no matter what the weather, although I admire them greatly. But this time of year with all the flowers blooming it's really pleasant and it does calm the mind.

Izzadawn 06-06-2011 05:34 PM

Starting C2 5K tonight Wish me luck !!!

Izzadawn 06-06-2011 07:23 PM

I did not die .... I Did it.... my first C25K interval podcast!!!!

Worked great except the big hill on the route.... I'm sure I looked pathetic running up that monster!!!! LOL

The other thing is my route is 4K which I walk in 50 min the pod cast is for 29 min so I just carried on into the next pod cast for an extra 10 min.

My legs weighed 200lbs each on that last 90secs.

I can't tell you how proud I am, in January I had a tough time walking up the driveway, and today, I Walk / Ran 4K !!!! Wow!!! :carrot:

natamars 06-07-2011 10:16 AM

Monday: 1690 calories, no exercise, took supplements

TOM kicked me in the a$$ hard yesterday and I got home, put on pajamas, and settled onto the couch. It was one of those nights where I couldn't decide what I wanted to eat so just started grazing. Luckily I moved upstairs before it got too bad. The next few days are supposed to be hot and humid with bad air quality, so I'm debating what I will do for exercise - think I'll need to stick to the gym, but DH will be out two nights this week so I'll have to do something at home then.

izza, congrats! You should be so proud of yourself, esp. since you did a hill! It took me months before I would go near one. You rock!!

Zumbachica 06-07-2011 09:15 PM

Nat, thanks ...I never thought I'd hit goal so early if at all....I surprised myself....I am so afraid now of putting the 7 lbs back on....and I want to keep losing too...FINALLY someone noticed at the gym today that I lost weight....noone else has, not even my husband. Oh well, I k now that I lost it and my clothes are fitting...I put on jeans the other night that I haven't been able to wear all winter....and I'm fitting into some zumba pants that were too snug for a long time too....Hallelujah it is happening. Low carb and just eating less...very little snacking....

IZZA CONGRATS ON YOUR 4K...WOW!!!!!! That's all i can say..I have such respect for runners.....I bow before you.

Natamars I hope you got to rest during TOM..that's a time when as women we should baby ourselves..I don't have the option when I have to teach class...I think in the old days there was something to be said for resting during our TOMs...now women are expected to move mountains no matter what or how we are feeling...it's all crap! We're also expected to go through our pregnancies like the hollywood stars...running every day and lifting weights so we can push out the baby and look like Halle Berre the next day...MORE CRAP. But don't get me started...LOL
