KittehMomma 02-06-2011 09:43 AM

Good morning, all.

Had a really good workout yesterday morning--30 minutes walk/jog on treadmill, followed by weights and stretching. I had a nice spinach salad with some leftover beef for dinner, but later I was hungry again. I thought about it and decided it wasn't really hunger. I did have some applesauce (unsweetened, with some spices), but then cut myself off and said, no more. This morning I am down a pound and a half. Yay! I broke the 150 barrier!

Today is a day for light exercise--need to let the body rest up. No SB for me, but I sure wish I needed to do some shopping at a store that is usually crowded (Costco, Frye's, whatever)--just so I can have the place mostly to myself for a change! :D I guess I'll have to settle for grocery shopping on a Sunday without crowds.

Annie--Glad to hear the water's coming off. I lurvs Food Network, but I don't have expanded cable, so I can only watch it on other people's TVs. They all think I'm a FN junkie! Way to go, walking 5 miles--you're an inspiration. Bribing YS--hmmm, I think it depends on the kid. Money bribes have limited usefulness, because you have to keep paying to get the results. Sad to say, for a lot of people, the :rollpin: is more effective than the :carrot:--have you tried limiting TV and video games? Say, one hour exercise for one hour video games? Or a one for two, or whatever seems appropriate. I'm only a parent to furbabies--although I was a teenager  --so that's just my two cents.

Fruitlady--I hope you can break the high calorie cycle. Do you journal, or have talks with yourself about your feelings? Seriously, I sometimes don't know how I'm really feeling about something unless I write it down and force it into the light. Hang in there.

Mirj--You always have such yummy food for Shabbat. Forgive my ignorance, but it's okay to mix eggs and cheese? You mentioned a cheesy quiche, and quiche is made from eggs. Just curious. Love learning new things.

Sum38--Good to hear the liver cleanse is going well. I should talk to my doctor about doing another one, since it's been a while since the last one.

Hope you all have a great Sunday. Enjoy the SB , if that's your thing.

Mirj 02-06-2011 09:55 AM

Kitteh, WTG on breaking 150! I would kill to get down there.

Yes, you can mix eggs and cheese. Eggs are a neutral food, so you can eat them with either meat or with dairy.

Normally when I make a dessert or bake something I try to make it completely neutral so we can eat it either with dairy meals or with meaty meals. But since last night was going to be full-blown dairy, I went to town and used cheese AND cream AND butter, instead of soy cream and margarine. Mmmmmmm, it was so good, and so fattening, but that's probably why it was so good. :(

Almost 5 PM here, almost time to go home. I'm trying to envision a big leafy salad for dinner, but that those quiche leftovers are calling my name, all the way to the office, argh!

patchworkpenguin 02-06-2011 01:49 PM

Hubby and I apparently picked up a bug someplace. I've spent most of the past two days asleep or reading on the couch between naps. Hubby went to work but came home yesterday feeling horrible. Thank God for weekends.

I did find out that he's joined the Walker's Group at work. They spend 40min walking the concourse. Yay, for Hubby! :D

Sum38 02-06-2011 01:57 PM

Kitteh So jealous :) Congrats!!!

Patch No! Everybody is sick :( Feel better!!

Mirj

AnnieDrews 02-06-2011 02:01 PM

Hello everyone! Well, I was back down to 150.5 this morning.... I NEVER weigh on the weekends, but desperate times call for desperate measures! Whew, what a relief. Now to address the fact that I am back on a diuretic. I'm going to check back in with the doctor in about a month and see what we can do about that. I wonder if it is possible to wean off of it w/o causing a huge fluid retaining episode?? I've searched online and haven't found much yet. We'll see how the blood pressure does and re-evaluate.

Mirj-I love so much hearing about your traditions. Good luck this week getting back on track.

Ashley-I know what you mean about your husband. Fiance began working at a new job this year. He now eats every day at the cafeteria there and has started growing a little belly where there wasn't one before!:o He has never had to worry about his weight. He also buys over-processed foods (Rice-A-Roni mixes....and HORRORS....Hamburger Helper) to fix himself at home. I've gently mentioned to him to try to eat healthier, but he hasn't made any changes. I try to cook good meals for him when we are together, but that isn't as often as I would like. Hoping when it gets warm out that mowing, etc. will help him drop some of the weight.

Sum-I'm not real picky about where my food comes from. Maybe I should be more diligent. My shrimp came from Thailand and it tasted fine to me. I was just so happy to find it pre-skewered and clean and ready to cook.

Jo-I bet that recipe I shared would be good as an orange or a lime version, too. I had two pieces last night, but planned for the calories.

Kitteh-You are doing a great job! Congrats on the 150s!!:carrot:

PP-Sorry you have been feeling badly. Hope you are better soon. Yay for hubby!! I think I am going to STRONGLY urge fiance to join his gym at work....STRONGLY.;)

Going to watch the Super Bowl alone and allow myself some fun food. Will try to allow for calories before then.

P.S. I didn't do any exercise today. My arms and legs are a little sore from all of the panic-stricken miles I've put in the last few days.

AnnieDrews 02-06-2011 02:07 PM

Oh, forgot to tell you all that I watched a good, but very intense movie last night. Parts of it had been filmed here in Oklahoma and I had been meaning to see it. The Killer Inside Me....VERY hard to watch in places, it actually made me gasp and cringe. But a good performance by Casey Affleck.

fruitlady 02-06-2011 05:24 PM

Annie- I always use applesauce to replace butter & eggs in a recipe, you do get a different flavor, but it's still good. Much lower calories & fat, you should try it.

Ate too much for the third day in a row, I don't know what's with me. I can't get back on track even though I'm trying very hard. All I think about is food!
I'm gaining weight too, it gets me down to think how fast I put on weight, I feel hopeless sometimes. So busy lately, but still find time to eat stuff I shouldn't, I'm still eating all my healthy food, but sneak in way too much junk food between meals. I ride the bike everyday, sometimes twice a day, I don't even think it's helping. Today rode for 30min. even though I feel so lazy since I gained weight. Got plenty of sleep, this crappy food I'm eating makes me so lazy, I just want to sleep. I hope I can pull myself out of this whole before I gain so much weight that I just give up.

AnnieDrews 02-06-2011 05:28 PM

Fruitlady-If you are only up to 109.9 from 108, that isn't too bad. Try not to be so hard on yourself. Would hubby and child(ren?) be okay with not having their high calorie snacks on hand there at the house? I know it is hard not to want it when it is there.

fruitlady 02-06-2011 05:38 PM

Annie- I'm up to 112.6, just changed it on my profile, I wish they could do without their junk food, it would help alot. Hubby needs his chocolate fix every night, I have to sit there & watch him feed his face with cake or candy, my daughter has all her food in her room, I tend to go in there when she's not home & take some of her cookies or candy. I can't get away from it!

petra65 02-06-2011 07:05 PM

Must be something in the air because I have overeaten the past few days too. DH is on steroids for a knee injury and is eating everything that isn't nailed down so that isn't helping. We had red beans and rice with sausage for dinner tonight. Very southern-particularly this area. I think it's Cajun or creole.

Mirj-enjoy your wedding. That video looked like the electric slide.
Patch-hope you feel better

Sum38 02-06-2011 07:58 PM

Annie I watched Mamma Mia last night. Definitely on a lighter side, but I enjoyed it very much!!

angelskeep 02-06-2011 09:14 PM

Oh, once again I've gotten lost. I was going to try and get caught up, but I think I'll just read what everyone else has written and then try again tomorrow. Too many new posts, LOL! We did about an hour and 1/2 today in the slightly windy rather cold air. Have gotten about 4' of new snow the last couple of days, but I am sick to death of not getting out, so we bundled up and went out by the lakes to wander. Buster got to run loose and broke trail for us. My legs are unusually tired tonight. I guess from slogging through the snow. But I was really really REALLY glad to get outside for a little bit. Spent most of the rest of the day doing computer work. UGH! More of the same tomrorow. And we got the doors all painted, and Robert started taping off the walls so I can do the trim and mouldings pretty soon.

patchworkpenguin 02-06-2011 11:16 PM

Hubby and I felt better this afternoon. We drove downtown but didn't see any point in sticking around long, but we did take a carriage ride. This is Pie and I {I'm not the horse!} This shot was taken moments before his bridle got stick in my sweater and we had a wrestling match. Pie won, he's much stronger! But my sweater survived! http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/j...2062011006.jpg The horse carriages hang out in front of the Peabody hotel, where the ducks had already gone up for the night. Maybe they wanted to watch the football game?

I also worked on a sock for Hubby. http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/j...2062011010.jpg

angelskeep 02-07-2011 09:27 AM

You go penguin! The heel on the sock looks like a heel. Yaaay! And the horse pic is fun. A carriage ride sounds nice!

Just got up and need to check the weather and make a pot of coffee. Hope I can walk today. I need to go to the library and to Albertsons. They have avocados on sale. I would rather walk than drive, but the cold and wind seem to zap all my ambition.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Barb

AnnieDrews 02-07-2011 09:30 AM

Happy Monday! Here we go again with round 2 of snow....we are expecting 6-10 inches Tues night/Weds. I am choosing to ignore this right now. Guess I will make a run by the store today or this evening. Ugh. I really don't want to drive in it, but I can almost guarantee our office won't close for a second time. The fact that they did last week is unprecedented. Oh well....we'll see how it goes. I hope the weathermen are wrong this time.

Got up and did 3 mile (48 min.) exercise this morning with hand weights.

Petra-Hope today finds you back on plan. Hope hubby doesn't have to take the steroids for much longer...I hate that medication.

Sum-I've never seen Mamma Mia...not sure if I would enjoy it as I am not much of an ABBA fan. I do like comedies, though.

Barb-Walking in the snow is awesome exercise! Good for you for getting out in it.

PP-Love the pic of you with the horse! Such a lovely lady....and the horse ain't bad either...:D Glad you were able to get out and have a nice time with hubby.

Hope you all have a wonderful day/evening!!:carrot:

SILLYCAT 02-07-2011 12:52 PM

Happy Monday indeed!

Got my exercise in early - will also walk 1.5 miles 2 times during the day.

I think i'm starting to "feel thinner" but the scale hasn't budged.. Oh well..

85% is how we feel right??...??!!

fruitlady 02-07-2011 01:19 PM

Hi all - I've been so tierd lately, it started after eating junk food three days ago, the sluggish lazy feeling never went away. Guess cause I was eating it everyday, it never got out of my system. Lost 7 oz. , not sure why, my eating isn't totally clean yet. After breakfast i had a large brownie that hubby made last night. He doesn't help, nor does he care how much I suffer with cravings for cake, candy & cookies. I tell him all the time, it's like he's oblivious. When you live with people that eat crap all the time, how do you survive and stay away from it? For me it's impossible. The rest of those brownies are going to work with him! Rode the bike for 30min & went 7mi. Tonight I'll do another 20min. after dinner.

Ashley777 02-07-2011 01:29 PM

There must be something in the air, I woke up Sat wanting to just eat, and very fatigued again, Sunday was a bit better, but stopped at the store to get spinach and salad for the week, hubby waited in the car with the grandkids so I bought dried pinapple, 4 chocolate bars and some chocolate covered rasins, ate all of it plus some ice cream (sighhhh) okay yesterday done, freezing here again but only
-17 so at least I can walk at lunch as we got some snow to cover all the extreme ice. Snow helps with grip. I am tired of fighting the cold…… end of whine. I lost the roll I was on a few weeks ago and need to get it back. I get so inspired coming here and seeing how others have lost weight and that helps me immensly.

Mirj - the wedding sounds like fun, I love learning about other cultures!

Fruit Lady - hang in there each day is new and we have a new chance to live it differently than the last. I have to say though I use to pilfer my kids halloween candy when they were real young, 2,3,4 I felt so guilty for doing that.

Kitty – way to go on the below 150.

PP – sorry you are not feeling well, hope your day goes better, I will say a little prayer for you.

Annie- happy for you and the weigh in, I imagine you are feeling much better and relieved.

Ashley777 02-07-2011 01:34 PM

Fruit lady, I wonder if your hubby doesnt really know the extent of your cravings, did he know you before you lost weight, does he think cause your thin that it is not really a big deal? I dunno just a thought, I feel for you though, my exhusband would buy candy and chips and crap and then I would eat it when I got hungry and he would shame me for it. I did not know how to deal with it. so then I learned to go to the store and buy my own stuff he would not know about and eat it, and of course that put me in a real bad place. Still in recovery from that. why does food have to be such a challeng??????????

AnnieDrews 02-07-2011 02:35 PM

Well, I had a piece of bakery cake after lunch and I don't feel guilty about it. At the office we have a monthly cake for everyone's birthday that month. Mine is this month, so I had a piece. I'll work on making it up the rest of the day, but I did enjoy it.:)

KittehMomma 02-07-2011 02:43 PM

Good Monday, all.

Weight stayed the same, but no exercise yesterday, so not surprising. Good workout this morning--feel that burn! :exercise:

I bought some cod for this week, but now have to figure out how to cook it. I'm a salmon-fed Northwest girl--got no probs cooking salmon. :T

PPenguin--Sorry you got a bug, glad to hear you're starting to feel better. Nice socks, but don't the needles make it hard to DH to put his shoes on? ;)

Stay strong everyone. Control the food--don't let it control you!

Sum38 02-07-2011 02:49 PM

Angel I want the snow :) We are leaving in to weeks to Jackson Hole.

You are so pretty Patch

Annie I can't believe all that snow you are getting!!

SillyCat That is a good feeling!

FL I know what you mean... I drool over pasta my family is eating, all breads...and I can't have any :( Stay firm!

Ashley I think long winters make people tired and wanting to eat. I am ready for spring (after WY trip :))

I have lupus that comes and goes. My cold triggered an attack on my lungs. I went in and had a nebulizer treatment done. Hopefully it helps. I do not want to take prednisone! I will go in a few times per day for the next couple of days. -- So no walking for me for a few days :(

I think I actually lost some weight. By the time I weighted myself this am, I already had had 16 oz of water and a few cups of coffee, and I was 154.5 (a day before morning weight was 154). So I am looking forward to tomorrow morning.

I am OP with my eating for the day. So far I am consumed 650 calories.

Have a fab day ladies!!

AnnieDrews 02-07-2011 02:49 PM

Kitteh-LOL@ the sock/needle comment.:D

Sum-Have you ever tried the Walk At Home DVDs??

I ran over to the strip mall at lunch and ran in to Cato to see if I could find a top on sale (and I did!). I was reminded yet again how good it feels to walk into the "normal" side and not the "plus-size" side. I never want to go in that door again....and, God willing, I won't.:)

jomatho 02-07-2011 04:48 PM

I posted pics of me at my first mini goal which I met today!!!

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/mini...my-weight.html

AnnieDrews 02-07-2011 04:58 PM

Jo, you look awesome!! I am so happy for you, sister!!

Ashley777 02-07-2011 05:09 PM

Jo great pics, you look great,

Finally got out for my lunchtime hike in the sun and enjoyed every second of it even in the cold. Moving ones body can be so energizing sometimes.
Just found out we get to go to Great Falls in April. Hubby is having a SSD appeal hearing so we are hoping and praying they will reinstate him.
I am soooo excited about going to JC Penny (how sad is that) and with my tax return this year I am saving some money for SHOPPING. Can't remember if they have a khols there or not, one of my favorite stores. I also love the slimfast they sell in the U.S so I will buy about 4 cans of that. It is different then the one in canada and I really love it especially the new one with added protien it is a win win for me.

Sum - hope your health gets better soon.

Annie - way to go on the top.

jomatho 02-07-2011 05:20 PM

Thanks girls! That mini goal seemed like a long time coming. Next mini goal-Onderland! I feel kinda weird having my body shots out there, but hey if I can encourage someone who is just starting out, that makes me happy.

patchworkpenguin 02-07-2011 05:48 PM

Jo, great shots {expecially the backwards in the mirror one!} thanks for posting.

Kitteh, cute about the needles! you get a sheep because the socks are wool!

Barb, we've been talking about a carriage ride for a long time, just never got around to taking one.

Thanks guys! Pie was very cute. He was a drafthorse; his owner said he could easily pull 3 times his own weight of 1900lbs. Wow!

fruitlady 02-07-2011 07:27 PM

Ashley- thanks, I am married for 25yrs. so he knows how heavy I can get. My weight doesn't matter to him, so he doesn't care. But I care! Everyday I tell myself that it is a new day for better food choices, the cravings just over ride that & it doesn't seem to matter anyway.

Did a little better today w/ my calories. After I had the brownie this morning, I stole 4 squares of a Hershey bar from my daughters room. I felt so bad, but I just needed that chocolate at the time. I talked to her about it, she wasn't mad & didn't even seem to mind. She is 16 , so you never know how they will react at that age. When she was 11yrs. the doctor told us she had high cholesterol & blood pressure cause she was overweight. She weighed 170lbs at 5'2 then. Even at 11 she decided it was time to eat better foods. Now she's 5'4 & weighs 135lbs. She bugged me for 2 yrs. to start eating healthy with her. I didn't think i could do it, but i put my mind to it, and that was it. She still allows herself lots of treats, especially now since she's older, but she knows how to control herself & it's not an everyday thing. I wish I had control like that, sometimes she even loses weight. So, the brownie & the chocolate bar were the only sweets i had today, everything else was healthy. I feel i made a little progress today, maybe tomorrow I can do without any junk food. Even went to the market, resisted temptation, made it home with no junk food, not even peanut butter or ice cream( my favorites) Still had too many calories(1645), so I rode the bike a total of 50min. & went 12mi.

Good luck all, seems like alot of us are having a hard time right now.

jomatho 02-07-2011 09:08 PM

Annie-I was just reading back a day or two to try to get caught up and had missed the fact that this is your birthday month!!! I don't think you said when your actual birthday is did you? My DH's birthday is coming up quickly, I have to get on the ball. Do you have any plans yet?
PP-love your picture with you and the horse! You are adorable and the horse isn't bad either! Those look like some nice warm socks! I'm glad you found something fun to do with your hubby!
Sum-sorry to hear your Lupus is acting up. Hope the nebulizer does its trick and you can avoid the steroids! You are doing well on your weight loss!
Kitteh- I could take some tips from you, I have never made salmon! I am not a fish lover, I make pan fried tilapia because it is not too fishy, but I know how good salmon is for you...
Barb- I have to hand it to you walking out in that coldness! I am a sissy about the cold the older I get.
Ashley-sounds like a fun shopping trip in April, I love kohls too. That's where I bought my bathing suit tops last week.
Mirj-how was the wedding? Did you dance your butt off? Can't tell what day you were going due to your time difference?
Fruit-funny you mention brownies, I caught the first part of Rachel Ray this morning and she was making brownie waffles (pouring regular brownie batter onto a hot waffle iron), cooking them like regular waffles and then topping them with ice cream and sundae toppings. They looked sooooo yummy! I think it would be fun for kids, but I don't dare make them in this house! Brownies are one of my favorite treats. She also made some different ones that had fruit (raspberries I think) and nuts in the batter. I was drooling.
Silly-many people lose inches but not pounds. Have you taken any measurements?

AnnieDrews 02-07-2011 10:42 PM

Okay, just a quick check-in....I am making sure younger son gets his invention project finished. Out of school for 4 snow days and it is due tomorrow. He is in seventh grade so I suppose he should be learning the responsibility of keeping track of this kind of thing, but I thought maybe she should have given them a few extra days. It is hard keeping up with projects when he is only with me on Mon, Tues and every other Fri, Sat and Sun. Joint custody sucks! But I agreed to it and I work it out.

You all are talking about fish. Do any of you have a stove top grill?? Here is a pic of one similar to mine (I didn't pay nearly this much, I got mine at Wal Mart):

https://www.discountcooking.com/shop...8&cat=0&page=1

I love cooking tilapia, chicken and shrimp on it. I've tried burgers, but they spatter so much I'd rather do them in a skillet. Steak turns out just okay. If you don't have one, they are sure handy. Mine reverses to a flat griddle for pancakes, grilled cheese, etc. I love it!

Gotta run and light a fire under younger son's hiney! I want to go to bed!!

P.S. My birthday is Feb. 22, Jo. No big plans as of yet. We'll see...we don't usually do a whole lot.

patchworkpenguin 02-07-2011 10:56 PM

Annie, I have a cast iron grill/griddle pan, but I never us it because it weighs a ton. I also have a grill skillet which is a recent purchase but I haven't used it much.

Jo, those brownie waffles sound amazing! Brownies are my favorite, too! I've been making brownie muffins, freezing them, and having one as a snack each night. I think I'm just making regular cupcakes this week.

Fruitlady, what a wonderful story about your daughter.

Warrior11 02-07-2011 11:18 PM

Hi, I'm new. Just did a 7 day fruit and veggie detox, now doing 12 weeks of no bread, sugar, etc. Kind of Paleo I guess. Doing it thru a Naturopath. Some days are super easy to stay on track, others, (Like SuperBowl Sunday) are very hard.

patchworkpenguin 02-07-2011 11:52 PM

Unplanned workout. 30min TM intervals between 2-5mph. 1.4m 3,392 steps. Endorphins are pinging. I'm going to go annoy Hubby now.:p What else are endorphins for??

Warrior, welcome, glad to have you join us! Cute avatar.

Mirj 02-08-2011 07:36 AM

WTG Jo! I love the pix! I once saw something on Youtube where this woman took a picture of herself every single day for a year, wearing the same bathing suit, and you could see how she shrank.

Welcome Warrior!

The wedding last night was a blast. We got there a little late, just as the ceremony was starting, so I missed the beginning with all the finger food. Great! I also managed just to have a bite or two of the meal, I was too busy schmoozing with old friends and dancing to have time to eat. Even better! I had so much fun dancing. We got home after 2 AM and am now just a bit hungover at work (yeah, I didn't eat, but had my fair share of single malt whisky :sssh: )

Got on the scales this morning, I'm 200 grams down from yesterday, but still a whole kilo over my lowest weight since I started dieting.

Back to work, argh...

Sum38 02-08-2011 07:44 AM

AnnieDrews I have not tried those. I received Wii Fit for xmas a year ago. I should try to utilize that a bit. I am not allowed to do any exercise for now :( I have to stay put for the next few days.

Jo I am glad you put your pictures out there. You look amazing. A huge difference.

Sum38 02-08-2011 07:53 AM

Ashley777 Sometimes just getting out there is 90% of the battle won. Having cold and ice is starting to be so incredibly uninviting. Like you, once I am out there and hiking, I feel great. I am glad you enjoyed your hike!

fruitlady Glad to hear you had a better calorie day! Awesome about your daughter! She has a good head on her shoulders.

Warrior11
Welcome. And a great job on detox!!

patchworkpenguin I hope you had fun with hubby ;)

Mirj
That is a great idea. Maybe I should videotape myself doing a 360 spin...In a few months I bet I could see some results!

Day two for nebulizer treatment for me. It really helped me to breath again, and I ended up baking last night for the family. I was in bed by 8:30 or 9 pm tho...

My weight is holding steady. I need to cut calories :(

Have a fab day ladies!

Not necessarily! Instead of cutting calories, do a different exercise, take your body out of its routine and get into a new shvung!

Sum38 02-08-2011 07:58 AM

Mirj I forgot to mention, I am not allowed to exercise right now :( I can't put any strain on my lungs until this episode is done.

Mirj 02-08-2011 08:03 AM

Sum, sorry to hear that. I guess cutting calories it will be....
