Sizes

  • I've been 40 for about a day now...so I'm pleased as punch to be posting in here.

I've seen other posts about how many pounds equal a size, and it seems to me that it depends on a lot of things, such as height and body type, and also how you like your clothes to fit. I thought that would be interesting and useful for many of us.

    For example...here is my info

I am 5'6 and when I was 273 pounds, my highest weight, I wore a 20 (needed a 22, but refused to buy it) in regular clothes, but would squish into an 18 in anything made with lycra. I was very apple shaped, lots of weight and bloating in the middle, no definable waist anymore.

Now I'm in the 230's and my lycra 18s are too big, but any 18s without lycra fit well. I've lost weight from my middle and my legs are toning up, so I can see more of a waist on myself and I hope to soon be hour glass shaped again. A size 16 with lycra fits, but gets loose quickly.

I'm really curious to know where I might be in a few months, so I'm looking forward to reading others' info.
  • Well I'm 5'4.5" and weigh currently 245lbs, 16 (UK) on top and 20 (UK) bottom (tight squeeze though I also refuse to wear anything larger, I'm so stubborn that I'll only go down from this point on I feel it's just a waste of money to spend money on clothes that'll only last a few weeks :L

p.s I'm only 20 but I was in the recent posts and saw that no one replied yet hope you don't mins me replying...
  • I don't mind at all, thanks for the reply!
  • I went from a size 20 at 240# to a size 14 at 215#. My measurements changed quite a bit when losing that 25# (waist 46 to 36 and hips 52 to 44) so I think I acquired muscle during the loss which contributes to size changes. I'm an apple (or an avocado according to some websites) and I'm 5'6". I prefer my pants to fit snugly but not skin tight. Baggy drives me batty.

Happy birthday, Angie. Welcome to the 40s....it's a great decade.
