Just a quick note to say I saw 164.5 on the scale this morning -- I am so glad to see some movement!

PeanutsMom704 02-14-2010 06:38 PM

I saw a nice number on the scale this morning, just hope it sticks for tomorrow!! But I'm still thinking about changing weigh in days - I do a lot more activity on weekends because I have the extra time, and I think it's getting some water weight from that. I like the Monday WI because it helps to keep me accountable over the weekend, but it's still frustrating to be at one number on Sat or Sun and then higher on Monday, when I'm looking to count it. So the bigger motivation of feeling like I'm making overall progress might be more important for me right now, esp. since I feel pretty good about the eating choices I'm making at this point.

Unofficially, I'm 227, and very happy to be cruising towards the mid 220s!

newleaf, that's great!!

newleaf123 02-14-2010 06:41 PM

PeanutsMom fingers crossed for you tomorrow!!

Great job Newleaf!! One day I will be seeing those numbers.

PeanutsMom, I know how you feel. I've been weighing in on Thursday night and I don't like the numbers. I weigh myself in the mornings and I'm always a few pounds less. However, I really like my leader. She is so inspiring. She has lost over 100 lbs. So, I give up a few pounds to have great inspiration. It's worth it.

So, at Thursday's weigh in I weighed 232. Down 7 pounds since Jan. 30 and 2 pounds since Feb. 6. I am so excited. I've been exercising; walking, skiing, stairs, and I started a Zumba class. I'm feeling great, my knees are killing me, but I feel great!! :exercise: :broc: :sunny:

The scale was back at 229 this morning after being 227 on Saturday. So I'm going to go ahead and change my WI day to Saturday. I don't want to not feel motivated to put in the extra activity over the weekends, but I also don't want to feel discouraged that my weight isn't moving, when it really is. I've been seeing this pattern enough to be pretty sure it really is related to the activity, esp. because I did stay on plan over the weekend. So yeah, I'm sure there is some natural fluctation involved, but I'm going to try to frame things in a way that gives me as much motivation as possible!! I'll leave my ticker alone for now, but hope to be back at 227 (or BELOW!) by Saturday.

Hi Jess -

I don't go to WW, I just picked an "official" WI date for myself. I think doing an evening WI is tough, because it will be so variable on what you happened to eat or drink during the day.

I do understand about liking the leader though. I can't remember if it was here on 3FC or somewhere else, but someone posted that they would go to an early morning meeting just to do the WI and then leave, and then go to their evening meeting with the leader they really liked, but not WI. They felt it was worth the extra effort because they were getting a more reliable WI, but still the benefit of the inspiration from the leader they really clicked with.

PeanutsMom,

I tried that but it didn't work very well. I just decided to go to my Thursday meeting and accept what the scales says. I weigh myself every morning and I weighed 228 this morning. I have been consistantly 229-228 for the last week. So, I'm OK with my numbers including 232 last Thursday. Eventually, my evening numbers will show me reaching goal.

I do know that this forum has helped me a great deal. On another thread I list my minutes of exercise and contribute to the group total. This has helped me get excited about exercise and becoming more healthy.

I even started a new exercise class. Last Wednesday I did my first Zumba class. Teheheh oooolala :belly:

Well my weight seems to be go nowhere fast. I'm quite frustrated because my eating has actually been pretty good and I've been exercising a bit more with my Wii and all but I think all the stress has been making things worse. I know when I'm stressed out it makes it hard for me to lose-all that cortisol! I had a wierd thing happen last year. I got stuck like this last year and then the yoga studio offered this 45 minute meditation class I started going to and like magic, my scale started moving. I hadn't realized that the stress was having such a profound affect on me until then.

I did tell the boyfriend this morning that I don't think things are going to work out. We have been doing nothing but arguing for about the past week.

newleaf123 02-17-2010 09:27 AM

Petra, yeah, a week of arguing so early on, not a good sign... Sounds like you have done the right thing. Sorry the scale isn't moving for you  but hopefully you'll start that downward trend soon.

PeanutsMom704 02-17-2010 10:36 AM

Petra -

sorry about the bf stress. It does seem like you are not having a lot of fun in this relationship :(

But very interesting about the meditation and weight loss. Are they still offering that class?

PeanutsMom704 02-17-2010 10:38 AM

My scale has been all over the place this week. I had my typical Monday bump up, and then yesterday, it was up ANOTHER 2 lbs!! But I could tell it was a lot of water weight - my hands and feet were all swollen. I made a very focused effort to get in lots of extra water yesterday, so back down 3.5 lbs this morning. That still leaves me .5 above last week, but i'm hopefully I'll be back down and below that by Saturday, my new WI date.

ANd I succumbed to the allure of a Gowear Fit. (like a BodyBugg if anyone watches Biggest Loser).

I got a great deal at drugstore.com - they were having a 20% off everything sale. I am very excited about getting this, and really getting a better sense of my calorie burn rate and be able to better calculate exactly how many calories I should eat. I've tried so many different online calculators but get a different result from each one.

plus I'm enough of a nerd that I think it's fun to be able to see and track these sorts of numbers. lol!

newleaf123 02-17-2010 11:36 AM

PeanutsMom sorry to read about your scale difficulties; hopefully you'll surpass that 1/2 pound soon. Enjoy your new toy!

weightlosswanted 02-17-2010 12:30 PM

peanuts mom : I've looked at the gowear fit, I believe it's actually made by the same company as the body bugg. let me know how it works for you!

petra: stress will do it! sorry the bf situation isn't working out. I've backed off on the idea of meeting the guy I was talking to online...seems like it will be too complicated to get involved...so back to the drawing board! I decided years ago I'd rather be happy alone then miserable with the wrong person. but sometimes it would be nice...
