NSV's and Challenges

  • Thank you 3FC - I'm back in the 150's (barely) and in better shape than I've been in a long time. I'm within "healthy" weight range, at the top of it, but there.

    NSV's - this weekend -

    1. Noticed I have way more energy, for everything. Getting something out from under the sink, and wound up partially organizing it. Needed to make room on the top shelf of the fridge - pulled everything out, cleaned it, reorganized it. Got almost everything on an agressive "to do" list for the weekend done. And actually did all the unpleasant stuff - just skipped the fun stuff - doing nails, sewing.

    2. More strength - groceries carried in 2 trips not 3. Even after working out, just step out of the car, not hoist myself out. Carrying in the 5 gal water bottles, no struggling. Not big stuff, but it feels good.

    3. Most fun - Got some cute workout outfits that fit - I had to pause a workout the other day because my pants were literally falling off me. I worked out this morning, and then had to go up to the car wash and grocery, but wanted to work out again when I went home. I looked in the mirror and decided I don't look that bad, and went out in my workout clothes! I NEVER would have done that before. And a couple guys even checked me out at the car wash!

CHALLENGES - I feel good, I'm looking pretty good. I see it in the mirror, and see it in how people react to me. It's hard to keep motivation at this point. BUT - I know I can look/feel a lot better. I can get a lot stronger, and like what I see in the mirror a lot better.

I'm thinking this forum will help by providing support of like-minded people and adding some accountability in the challenge forums. This is the point where I usually fall off and at least stop making forward progress, if I don't regress. This is the 4th time I've gotten here in the last 12 years. I want to get past it!
  • I love NSV's! In fact, they motivate me more than the scale most days. While the number on the scale is a great indicator of my success, the NSV's are even more important, they are proof that I have truly changed my life for the better.

Some of my recently noticed NSV's:
I need less sleep. I'm in bed at about 11:30 and up by 7 and I'm on summer break from school. I don't have the need or desire to sleep in like I used to.

I feel way more friendly and outgoing with strangers. I'm not feeling like all people see is my weight.

I feel muscles and bones under my skin when I shower!

I can wrap a bath towel around my body and it covers everything!
  • ok...here is one of mine.... I can take off a pair of my pants without unbuttoning them when 2 months ago they were very tight.
  • That's awesome! Congratulations. Though I find it frustrating sometimes to have nothing to fit, I'd rather it be that they are all too big!

I was wondering the other day - we can outgrow our clothes. Is there a word for shrinking out of them?
