welcome back Aerie...hi Pita!!!

nothing new to report...my life is DULL DULL DULL....I have a ton of stuff to do in the house and have been working on that...

how is everybody?????

Wiffle 07-07-2007 02:09 PM

Hi aerie, can you tell us more about your move? And I know how it is to diet with men. They lose weight so fast and it isn't fair!

I'm here but barely! I stayed up until 4:00 a.m. working on pajamas for my stepdaughter to take with her on her trip to see her grandmother tomorrow. At what age, I wonder, do they stop appreciating the handmade stuff and just want "cool" stuff? She's 12 but gets so excited when I make her stuff.

Anyway, I am tired.

I need to be careful. I made some fattening favorites for 4th of July, and it is so hard not to partake. Then, I saw a new flavor of ice cream at the store and had to get it. So I am still the same weight after several days. Not that I ate much of the ice cream, more like a tablespoon! But it is in there, and I did not ignore the 4th of July brisket by any means, although I did not eat much.

I didn't look at the scale for several years, and now I am weighing each day again. It is a wake up call to see how eating that I consider to be "not that bad" brings any loss to a screaming halt.

While I don't want to use the word "cheat" since I am not "dieting" but rather changing my eating habits for long term, that scale stalling is a great lesson to think twice before overeating "because it won't matter just this once" (which tends to start happening everyday if I let it).

I was really pleased with myself because before I went to bed this morning I was very hungry and I actually scooped myself up a large bowl of frozen yogurt (not the ice cream). I looked at it and put more than half of it back and actually had "one serving". That was a small victory, yet one I am not going to overlook!

Hi girls .

Diane nothing much happening, just summer stuff. Pool and lots of sun.

Kim I haven't been shopping yet. Maybe tomorrow who knows. Now that my youngest has finished summer school we might go during the week.

Kimush 07-07-2007 10:39 PM

:grouphug:Hey Everybody What A Beautiful Day! :grouphug:

:welcome3: Aerie... Back! Glad To See You Again! :welcome3: One week of holidays and you didn't gain any wt back :congrat: that is Awesome!

Clydegirl...Well I will be thinking of you! So :goodluck:

Wiffle... That is such an awesome age...my niece just turned 12yo...about 3 years ago I make all the women in my family jean purses...Since I love thrift store shopping I get a person's favorite designer jeans and then I cut off the legs and make purses, knapsacks and duffle bags...My niece still uses hers even though she has a lot of different fake designer bags. I love homemade gifts...maybe when you start them out young it matters more to them! Also...:congrat: it is all those small steps that add up to the big ones on weigh day! :goodscale

Diane... Have tons of fun at the baseball tournament and the games! :goodluck:

Pita420... That is very different! Makes sense really...I have read something before that timing and combinations of food is what makes weight loss easy and successful in the long term. Well keep me posted on how it goes...:goodluck::goodscale

Laura...I'm with you my life has been good olde fashioned "Kim" (AKA weird and wooly) ! I weighed in and didn't lose any wt but my one pair of shorts are fitting differently...So I think maybe things are redistributing maybe? Won't know till Aug when I measure myself...And there has not been anything on the peeper-burgular front except for today I noticed that we have a cut screen! Police have been called but nothing (as usual)...So I am just trying to ride this wave and hope it settles down soon!

Susan...as always Good morning back at you!

srmb60 07-08-2007 09:39 AM

Good morning again!

I'm excited about something Wiffle said. I am absolutely convinced that folks could lose some weight if they just put some food back. Fill your plate, consider it and put some back.
We'll write a book! Waddya think 40 somethings? we'll be rich!

It's going to be hot hot hot here today. I think I might do the dancing thing this morning in airconditioned bliss. Thank goodness the hospital is airconditioned for my shift this afternoon.

Pita09 07-08-2007 11:28 AM

Hello and happy Sunday!

Today is the beginning of my second week of restarting my weight loss. I didn't do the best last week, but I was still on vacation so I'm cutting myself some slack. Tomorrow, I return to classes at my technical college and will get my butt back to Curves. Life returning to normal will help me stay focused on getting the pounds off. Well, that is my story and I'm sticking to it! :carrot:

Droopysgirl 07-08-2007 12:00 PM

Morning all

Morning all it has been quite a while since I have posted. Things are not going well for me so I have been in the dumps about it. One of the classes I am taking for the summer is really kicking my butt. I get all stressed out about it and sit at the computer and eat. I hate to wish the summer away but I can't wait to get done with this class.

It is great to read up on all of you. Hope your summers are going well for you.

Talk more later.

iminhere 07-08-2007 01:07 PM

morning everyone...

Diane...how are you doing these days??:p

Clydegirl's having fun in the sun....:sunny:

hey ....nothing like a peeping tom around the place.....has he actually harmed or threatened anyone?:s:

Wif...I really like the idea of eating differently as opposed to "dieting" .....I don't really want to "diet" all my life...but I do want to eat healthier....

well, Kim...I just try to think of all this work as "exercise"!!!:exercise:

hey Cheri...at least you are back!!:balloons:

Susan...:)I am stealing your cottage chz method....'cept I am making bleu chz dressing with it....I use uncle dan's BC dressing mix (5 cal) and cottage chz and thin it with water....I had it last nite with "hot wings" (chicken tenders drowned in Franks Hot Sauce) and it was GREAT...but nutritionally it was like lowfat chicken with a small serving of cottage cheese and salad....

I felt like I was eating junkfood!!!

Kimush 07-08-2007 03:26 PM

:grouphug:Hey Everybody What a Stinky Humid Day...:grouphug:

A big olde :welcome3: back to Cheri :welcome3: Just focus the best you can on getting the mark you need and then the course will be done before you know it and you can de-regulate and de-stress! :beach: Glad you are back!

Well I like the book writing idea that Susan has proposed...and I was grubbling around in our profiles when I was bored last night and I see that Pita420 either wants to or is in the process of writing a romance novel...hummmmmm! We have an expert amongst us...Susan this could be very profitable!:book2::comp:

Laura...good idea with the chicken! Maybe we should all start sharing recipes...because I think between all of us there is a wealth of knowledge and know-how!

No that peeping-tom has only graduated to defecating in my backyard, walking in to my mother's kitchen and now the screen in the back window! I can't believe it would be anyone else would have cut the screen because we haven't had stuff like this before...In fact my mother very seldom locked her doors until all this started...Man this just burns my buttons! As long as I remain focused :rollpin::tantrum: I am okay because if I get nervous then I get scared and that is not  good! :sumo:

Kimush, you were checking me out! I'm flattered.

Actually, my wonderful Sweetie is writing a romance novel and I'm co-authoring and editing it. He is the one that is brilliant and for some reason sees me worthy enough to be involved with this wonderful project of his. :o

Now about Susan writing a book about putting the food back. I think it is brilliant and I definitely want in on the millions it will make. ;)

Clydegirl 07-08-2007 09:51 PM

Kim are you ok with this peeping tom situation? It sounds very worrying. What are the police doing about it?

Look after yourself and be careful.

ShyCammie 07-09-2007 08:52 AM

Hello Ladies,
Just a hug/handshake/or smile to everyone.
Kimush, sounds like your peeping Tom has graduated to vandalism. If the police get continued reports, they'll often increase patrols in the area.
You might consider (I know, like this is going to be easy...) a self-defense course. I know, I know...time, money, etc.
But the fact is that you'd feel more confident that you could help yourself if confronted with the creep.
If you've got big bucks, then hire a PI. They can photograph the idiot in the act (vandalism, peeping, etc) and help to capture him.
I'm also rather ...mmm...mean-thinking when confronted with people like this. Lining your property with dog feces, or poison ivy are just a few "passive" measures to discourage his returns. (The dog feces thing I learned from my dad. At night, Dad could hear kids taking our decorative pumpkins from the lawn and driving away. It stopped after dad put dog dung on the pumpkins. He giggled when he heard it, but laughed out loud when he heard the car stop and the kids saying, "ewww gross" as they tossed the pumpkin. Trick or treat.) The poison ivy...well, that came from my personal experience with the stuff. If you've had it once, you stay away from it. (I'd recommend growing it in pots that you can toss, though.)
Is all of that legal? It is in the US. (That and a lot more dependant on what state you live in.)
Long story...sorry.

Iminhere - no fair making me hungry! :D (it sounded really good)

Wiffle - I really understand what mean about seeing life from a "living healthy" point of view rather than a "dieting" point of view. I think something triggered inside of me when a friend of mine who is at her heaviest at "a buck twenty" (120lbs) mentioned portion control. She's never watched her weight, but she's health conscious. I get that. I like that concept too.

Today's news:
I have lost no weight as of this moment in time.
BUT, my food journaling is becoming less sporadic, my activity level is increasing, my water intake over the weekend is getting better, and my motivation is really high. I'm getting slender, like I used to be.

Take care,
Cammie

Pita09 07-09-2007 09:25 AM

Good morning

Today I return to school. I attend a technical college where I'm getting my diploma in marketing management and this is my fourth quarter. I'm excited to get back and hit the :book2: I am also getting myself back to Curves and plan to workout hard there for at least 4 days a week and do extra stuff here at home. I just got one of them exercise balls and find it fun and challenging.

I plan to stay motivated this week and see the scale go down. I gained 10 lbs being on vacation and that fills me with so much shame :o. I want this weight off!!

Have a super day and stay focused!

Journal Reflections.

Ladies,
Just a quick note. I was reviewing my weight journal (not my food journal)...(Admission: I'm a little OCD here. Since Feb of 06 I've tracked my weight, period, start/stop of meds, and recently my exercise minutes on an EXCEL spreadsheet. And yes, I'm dorky enough to actually graph my progress when I'm losing weight. :dizzy:)
So, anyways, I was popping in today's weight and kind of reviewed the journal. One of the things that I found is that for the past 2 years (at least) I've gained weight in the spring. (UGGhhhh!) I thought about it, and thought, what's different than when I lose weight (Aug thru Nov). Hmmm, well, one is routine, I get into a good groove of meal planning and working out and I'm consistent. (I also tend to have a "nary a care" attitude when it comes to weight loss. My focus is on eating healthy and leading an active life.) But, after thinking about spring time...well, I seem to feel overwhelmed during the holidays and spring just continues that feeling. I think this year, getting the full spectrum light bulbs out and re-focusing on routine is going to help me.
I wouldn't consider this a light-bulb moment:stars:, but it certainly is enlightening. (Thanks again to SusanB for encouraging the journaling...yup, it works.)
Anyone else have similar observations?
Cammie

iminhere 07-09-2007 11:55 AM

I'm still new to journaling...but I HAVE learned that pasta and breads make me gain....

I eat lowfat ice cream and pudding (I have a sweet tooth) fruits and high fiber starches like all bran and bran wafers and I lose weight...

and it's not ALL about the calories...even if I havea good calorie day...if my meals include pasta and bread I either gain or don't lose at all for a couple of days...

on days when I felt like I overate but I DIDN'T eat bread or pasta...I still lost....

so needless to say...I am not eating much bread and pasta these days....

tons of veggies though...

mostly the journaling makes me more aware in general....

I already know that I gain weight in Nov and Dec.....those are my worst months!!!

mmm...last night I made szechuan veggies with beef.....YUM!!! I am having leftover for breakfast....

I lost 2 pounds this week!!
