Wink Hello! :)

I'm new here. My name is Brittany. I've got a beautiful baby girl who is 12 weeks old. I can't blame her for the entire weight gain, I had some weight to lose before she came along. I was 190 when I found out I was pregnant. After she was born I weighed 218, and have since GAINED weight (227). I am a terrible eater.. barely eat any vegetables and basically eat whatever I want. Which clearly isn't working for me. I've started "my diet" several times... but it honestly only lasts a couple hours. Before my fiance eats something terrible and I usually end up joining him. But with Summer being here, I am determined to stick with this, it's so DEPRESSING being fat! On top of that I am getting married in March, and I don't want to be depressed everytime I look at my wedding pictures for the rest of my life. So I have started my plan today.

-1800-2000 calories (as I am nursing my daughter so don't wanna ruin my supply of milk going lower)
-drinking water (I barely ever drink water)
-5-6 servings of fruits and vegetables a day

Nothing major. But better than what I have been doing. I have my goals set. I would like to be under 200 by the end of September, and close to my goal weight by my wedding in March. (I'm seriously considering changing the date of my wedding, because I feel it's to soon, and I desperately do not want to get married in my current shape!) Looking to make friends, and have support in my journey. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks!

Congrats on the new baby.
Nursing helps you lose weight but it is important for you and the baby to eat good food and not junk. I know easier said than done when you have a newborn, but keep things like apples, sugarfree apple sauce, bananas, grapes, and baby carrots on hand, you can quickly grab those things and eat while you are nursing the little one. If you don't have a nursing pillow get one asap, it was a godsend for me, hands free nursing. lol

I nursed all three of my babies, you NEED to drink water. You can get dehydrated very easily when breastfeeding if you don't. I found out the hard way as I am not a big water drinker. You can always add some lemon or lime juice or one of those add in flavors to the water if you would rather drink it that way, but the water will make you feel much better.

I am here for you and we can be buddies. I was 225 when I had the twins and here I am 7 years later and 184, but we can do it!

Welcome! Feel free to check in on the Dieting with Obstacles section of the forums and you'll find lots of advice in the Pregnancy/Nursing section Also I hate water as well, but I find that drinking flavored carbonated water is a nice alternative as it reminds me of soda.

Thanks everyone! I know I should be eating better for her, and thats my main motivation. When she was first born I was definetly eating better than I am now. I do have a nursing pillow, BUT I nurse her football hold, so I find it kind of useless. I've done well so far today with eating. But supper and evening is usually what gets me. So I will try and think of something healthy to have.
