Default Wisconsin vacation advice?

I'm planning a vacation to Door County, WI. I've never been there before. We're looking at bringing our dog and staying in a vacation rental. Are there any folks here who have vacationed there or who live there? What time of year is best to go? Our dog loves to swim so sometime warm enough for that would be ideal.

I think you are pretty safe in June, July or August. I don't believe it gets very humid there.http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/door.../index.php#/14

For swimming, the water doesn't really warm up until July and August. Door County is soo much fun and there is so much to do outside!!

But dogs, don't care how cold the water it is (at least mine don't). LOL!
