So, I've attempted school I think 6 times in my life.
It never works out.
I did complete cosmetology but didn't get my license. Was in a car accident partway through school and found I could never stand for 8 hours a day after that due to chronic pain.
Before I usually had to withdrawal due to psychiatric hospitalizations.
I've been out of the hospital for 3.5 years now, haven't been back in. (I've been in 11 times for bipolar issues since 99 so staying out this long is great for me.
)
Anyhow, I'm doing really well with the bipolar stuff. My fibro is getting to be far more manageable. I think by summer I'll be doing really well if I keep progressing how I am *fingers crossed*
Anyhow, my local community college offers an associates of science with this dietary technicians program. They also offer distance learning for all but 9 credits. (out of 72 required to graduate). So I think that would REALLY be beneficial to me.
Apparently you can get entry level work with an associates, and I can continue my education and get my bachelors while working in the field hopefully. If not, I can stay at my current job while I finish up. I live in Pittsburgh, we are pretty huge on the medical scene so I think this is a great city to try and do this in.
Would love a private practice or to partner with someone. Plan to look into psych classes too, since I think that would be helpful with this type of thing. (obviously, if you've ever read a thread here)
If I'm on target, I will be close to goal by fall 2011. So definitely AT goal by the time I transfer. Would be a great motivation, I would NOT want to be a fat nutritionist.
I know I've had trouble in the past...so I'm a little nervous. But I think the online thing will work out for me. What do you guys think?
