Default Calories in 1 ounce of Chicken

This shouldn't be a difficult question!

I'm trying to figure out how many calories and grams of protein are in a single ounce of boneless, skinless chicken breast. (Specifically, cooked without oil and in a pain.)

I've been finding numbers from 25 to 55 calories per ounce. My chicken breasts are 12.16 ounces. That means they could be as low as 304 calories, to as high as 670 calories!! That's a huge difference! I'm really upset because of that huge difference.

The 3FC calorie counting page says that a cooked chicken breast is about 52 calories per ounce, while a raw chicken breast is 31 calories per ounce. Does that sound plausible? I really hope not because 630 calories per breast is ridiculous

EDIT:
Oh, I have a theory. Does raw chicken breasts weigh more than cooked chicken breasts because of the retained moister? I weighed my chicken before it was cooked, so perhaps if I weighed it now, it would be lighter than 12.16 ounces, and thus 52-55 calories per ounce would be reasonable. Does that make sense?

EDIT 2:
Okay, so I just ran downstairs, and weighed one of the breasts (boy am I a perv!) and it was 7 oz instead of the original 12. That means, if it really is 52 calories per ounce, the breast is 364 calories... which is the number I originally calculated with the 12 oz raw breast at 30 calories per oz. I'm happy and proud of myself

I'd personally go with the highest number just because if you're a little high on your estimate, it's not that bad. If you're a little low, though...yeah.

Nice work! You are right that the range was probably based on raw v. cooked weight.

It probably depends on how you cooked them, too! If you used a 'wet' method (like I do) where you bake them wrapped so they retain their juices, they'll probably be more calories than if you used a 'dry' method that allows the juice to run out (and leaves your chicken a lil bit chewy). Don't know that for sure, but it'd make sense to me!
