Yes, I've seen this poor woman in something before, glad to hear that she is otherwise healthy and has a good prognosis.
It definitely makes me feel grateful that I'm just fat through eating, and can lose it; it must be dreadful for your bodysize/shape to be determined by something beyond your control.
What did give me the creeps was, when I worked out the poundage, I've lost a couple of pounds more than her total bodyweight.... :gasp:
I went to school with a girl who had a similar problem, although no where near this severe. I remember going on a trip with her and she had to stop to eat very often and the teachers gave her a hard time about it. It sounds really frustrating. Everyone has their own metabolism and body issues and it's easy to think someone is "lucky" because they have a faster metabolism, but it's more important to focus on your own health and spend less time thinking about how other people have it easier.
I think its genetic. I know few people who eat a lot but they wont gain weight, i heard a fast metabolism is responsible for not gaining weight especially in teens.
I saw her on a show, she has a milder form of progeria (sp?) which
is that disease that makes little kids look like old people. I don't know
much about it, but thats what causes her to be so thin.
In theory, I'd love to be able to eat and eat and eat and never gain wait. In practice, it doesn't look so good.
I bet that woman would be happy to switch places with most of us, having to worry about eating healthy things in correct portions, instead of eating constantly just to stay alive.
It kind of makes me feel guilty, wishing that I could eat whatever I wanted and not gain wait, when she has to struggle and fight to keep weight on, let alone gain weight.
