300+ and Ready to Try Again #1065
:welcome: We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs. We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears . We share what works for us and what doesn't. We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion. Motivational Monday Tuesday Tips Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it. Thankful Thursday FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight. Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity Share your Success Sunday These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out. We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us. WELCOME! I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out. If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site. Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker. There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!! |
hello again....thanks for being so understanding about my last post. hopefully this one will be more "normal".
so, i braved the scale today and now wish i hadn't! i've gained back the 5 pounds i had lost. :( obviously, i am not going to make my mini goal of 10 pounds lost by thanksgiving. i have a dr's appointment on dec. 19, so i am going to see what i can do before that instead. i'm disappointed, but what can i do? i'm hoping some of that weight is still from TOM and maybe too much salt from drinking way too much soda last week. we'll see what happens next week, i guess. i think for the rest of november i'll just focus on trying to meet my exercise goal and steer clear of the scale for awhile! sharon--i've been skimming the threads, but didn't remember seeing how things were going with your dr? did you get some medicine that works or what has he said? i hope that he's listening to you and being more helpful. ammi--i'm glad to see you're back to 90 pounds lost! that is amazing! can you send me some of your willpower? i think i'm going to need all the help i can get to get back on track! thanks for the hug, too! i need it! well, i guess that's all from me. i'm going to go change my ticker and get back to work. see everyone tomorrow! lori |
Hi everyone!
I haven't had an opportunity to check posts since like Thursday, so I'm WAY behind and don't expect to catch up. Hope you'll all forgive me. I did want to say HI  to Maria Lucia, good to see you back! This weekend, beginning on Friday, was a BAD FOOD WEEKEND! My SCA reinactment group had it's Toys for Tots tournament - and I was coordinator this year. I was literally on my feet for 12+ hours in shoes with no support. I'm still tired. On the up side, we donated 984 toys to the program! I've got to buckle down at work, so I won't be posting as often. I can't remember if I've posted that here or not, but thought I would again. Ammi - Girl! Look at you! You are going to pass me up - I just know it! I had a kind of depressing thing happen this year at my tournament. A woman I know thru the SCA who has always been very complimentary came up to me and said "Tell me you haven't been on a plateau for a year." You see, she's trying to lose and plateaued after 30 lbs and it's been about a month for her...but to me it sounded like she was saying "You haven't lost a thing in a year you fat slob." I know I havent put in tons of effort, but JEEZE that one hurt! Otherwise I got lots of compliments on my appearance that day. Well, I'm off. Sorry to post and run, but I think that's about as good as it's going to get for a while. to you all! |
Just in case I don't get a chance later, I'm going to pop in now to say good bye and happy holidays (to all who are in parts of the world with celebrations this week)! Because my car will not be fixed until Wednesday and the insurance company won't pay for my rental beyond then, I have to return the rental tonight, and Jeff and I will spend the night at his cousins' house (about 10 minutes away from the airport we're flying out of tomorrow). Then he'll go to work like normal tomorrow, and I will work remotely from their house on my laptop for a few hours, and his cousin will bring us to the airport tomorrow evening for our flight. Even cooler, my sister's layover is at the same airport we're flying out of, so even though we have different starting points, we're taking the same flight home to CT :) Anyway, I'll be back late Monday night, so I may not talk to you chickies again until a whole week from tomorrow :o

Sharon, I am so glad your doctor was better this time. Remember, give the meds some time to do their thing.
Speaking of time to do their thing, mine is still NOT doing their own thing. I had more blood work this morning and the blood thinner levels are still too low. So, we're adjusting the doseage, AGAIN. I wondered why my legs were hurting more. At least the lab & coumadine clinic are on top of things.....finally. I have more tests next week to see if the adjustment is working. I hope so. I hate blood tests! Levendel, I did not know vitamin c helps in loosing weight. The doctor said I needed to increase mine anyway cuz of the blood thinners I'm on, so now I'll REALLY get some extra vit c. I take a multi vitamin, but the doc says to take 500 mg a day. I totally understand about the being ok sometimes til about 9 pm. It's terrible! I'm not hungry, but I gotta have something......or so it feels. Soory about your folks health. I totally understand that......all too well. Hope your dad gets well soon. .....my DH is diabetic, never checks his sugar levels etc. Makes me crazy. But, we can't live their lives for them can we. You're justified in being angry. Just be sure to let your dad know you love him even though you're mad at him. Good luck on finding that sexy male assistant! Michelle, I hope you're feeling better by now. I can't imagine how painful the biopsies must be. Glad to see you got home safe and sound. It's great to be home after being away isn't it. Valerie, I'm so glad you got a new job. That is so cool! Nancy, I hope your trip is wonderful! Katt, Yes, I'd say count all that work as exercise! If you are on fitday.com then change your lifestyle part. Hope your muscles are feeling better. Good grief, Sue (aka misti) I'm so glad your weren't hurt with the fire in your microwave. Next time, but some water in a MICROWAVE safe cup on low to use as a timer....or buy an old fashioned timer at walmart. Oops, just read you got a new one. Good for you. :) Hope all of you have a good week. Since it's the holiday week here in the US it promises to be very busy. to all and :welcome: to new ones and :welcome: back to others. I look forward to getting to know all of you. |
Hi! I was missing in action again, just thought I'd do a little catching up on stuff. Not much going on with me. I don't see a change in me yet physically but I fit behind my car steering wheel better and getting up stairs is a little easier.:)
Lori- I'm sorry that your having a terrible time. I hope things start not being so difficult and you feel better soon. Hang in there and the 5lbs. will be gone again before you know it! Lilion-I've looked at your pictures and I think you look great! Getting rid of 95lbs is a long road and quite an accomplishment. Your friend might not have ment her comment to be an insult but after working so hard to get where you are, ya, it would hurt me too. I have to say I think I'm guilty here in this forum of some similar comments to others that were only ment to be a harmless joke, but they came out sounding insensitive and cruel. We're here to help each other not bring each other down, I plan to be more careful from now on. Sharon-Congratulations on the 2lb.loss!!!:cp: Ammi-Congratulations on the 3lb. loss!!!:cp: Well you all know by now how good I am at personals no doubt I've missed alot. good luck !!! talk to you later. colleen. |
Hi there! I am proud to say that I did get up early this morning and get a 15 minute Gazelle workout in. This time I used one of the DVD's I got. I did the 10 minute beginner workout. That along with the warm up and cool down got me to 15 minutes. You know, I always thought Tony Little was so annoying in his infomercials but I really like him on the workout DVD's. He's goofy, motivating, and sensitive all at the same time. He also makes me laugh we he tries to sing along to the background music. I am going to stick with the beginner workout for now and maybe in a week or two move up to the intermediate which is 20 minutes plus a warm up and cool down. Now, if I could just get my eating under control!
Work has been a bit slow this week since it's holiday time and so many are taking vacation days to travel to be with family. I am taking Wednesday off to drive to Iowa and plan to drive back the following Monday. I am taking Tuesday off too so that I can rest and relax after all that driving. I think I mentioned awhile back that I was thinking of going back to school to get my MBA. Well, I did find out that there is at least on prerequisite class I have to have before I can enter the program so I am trying to find a class that will be convenient for me. I was hoping to do it at my local community college but their spring schedule just came out and the times and locations really aren't ideal. I may have to just go ahead and do the class at UTD (University of Texas at Dallas) even though it is so much more expensive. My company will pay 80% so that helps. I just know if I am going to succeed it needs to be workable within my busy work schedule. Also, I have bought a GMAT prep book. GMAT is the admissions test for MBA school. I've already tried the practice test in the book and got "fair" and "good" scores on all the sections so I feel confident that with a little practice and brushing up :book2: I can increase those to "goods" and "excellents" in no time. There is also a written essay portion which could be tough. Anyway, that all the latest news on that. Yeah, I know.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. ;) Lori - You don't have to apologize or think you are a downer. We are your friends here on this board and just like Sharon said, not only are you grieving but it was such a sudden and unexpected loss. You and your family continue to be in my thoughts. Sue - Yes, it is a MUCH harder workout than it looks. A friend of mine laughed at me when I told her I was buying a Gazelle because it does look a bit of a silly exercise. But when I told her how much harder it is that it looks she said she was going to wait and see how much weight I lose and then may buy one herself. I just told her there is nothing magic about a Gazelle. Any aerobic exercise performed consistently will help you to lose weight. You just have to find something you are willing to perform consistently. I think one of the reasons I am loving it so much is that I have knee problems from carrying this weight and this machine really lets me reach a level of intensity I can't do with other excercise without hurting my knees. Sharon :congrat: on being down 2 pounds!!!! :bravo: I hope your TOM pain goes away soon. Does a heating pad on your tummy help at all with the cramps? Jilly - Boy do I understand that "searching for something but not sure what" overeating experience. For me I think most of the time what I am "searching" for has nothing to do with food and therefore that "search" can never be satisfied by anything I eat. Anyway, good job being back on track today. Have a safe trip to CT. Is it beautiful there this time of year? I've always wanted to go to New England during the fall to see the trees. Falls in Texas? Not too impressive. Patti - So glad to hear you've lost another pound. You are just kept on heading in the right direction, don't you? Good job! Ammi - :carrot: :cb: Back to 90 pounds gone! That is incredible. It seems like just yesterday you were recommitting to losing weight and look at how far you have come. 100 pounds isn't too far away now. You better start thinking of how you will celebrate! OK, I am off now to give my stinky little dog a bath. He's stinky, but I love him anyway. ;) |
hi ladies! Hope everyone is doing ok. im glad to be able to post more than just a quick hello; this week and the forthcoming week will be insane for me, but oh well, what can you do?
MISTI: im glad to hear you didnt get hurt in the microwave incident. My friend at work was cooking some popcorn oneday, left it unattended, and came back to a fire, burnt popcorn, and a smell that permeated the hospital for days, lol. WEZI: As someone else mentioned, dont be too concerned or hard on yourself about the wt gain. you have been through so much this week, you will get back on track soon, im sure COLNEEN: Im happy to hear you are noticing some NSV:) sometimes they are better than scale victories. Keep up the good work. AMMI: Big congrats on the 90lb wt loss mark! You go, girl! your doing great:) LANVANDEL: Glad your feeling better, and i hope your father continues to improve. its hard to get those we love to take care of themselves sometimes. LILLION: im sure your friend didnt mean the comment the way it came out. you are doing fabulous, and if she did mean it, she is just jealous!:) JILL&NANCY: Have a great trip, be safe, have fun! we will miss both of you! EVERYONE I MISSED: Hope your day/week is going good, and hope the upcoming thanksgiving holiday is wonderful for you all As for me, im doing good. today was my a much needed day off for me, and i accomplished some things i needed to do. Foodwise, it was ok, but unfortunately, i can feel the dreaded "PMS" lurking in the shadows:( i think i mentioned the other day, the facility i work for went smoke free last week, well im happy to report that i have done excellent...........while at work:( i am taking a new med called Chantix, it basically makes your body not crave a cigarette, and it is helping. i am hopeful i can quit completely soon. the med reccomendations actually tell you to not quit smoking the first week you take it, so i am not totally of course. TO THE GAZELLE GIRLS: I am seriously thinking of taking my earned ebay $$ and buying a gazelle, did you ladies purchase yours online, or in a store? thanks well im off to finish some things before i go to bed. i hope everyone has a great day, and in this spirit of thanksgiving,i would like to thank EVERYONE for being such a great support and motivator to me:) Good night! |
just a quick question---you chicks on gazelles are really making me think i'd like to be swishing along in the morning instead of WATP'ing it sometimes! i've been looking at them online and am wondering if anyone knows the difference between the gazelle xtreme and the crosstrainer pro? the only differnce i saw was that the crosstrainer folds and costs $20 more. also, did anyone order from home shopping networks website and if so, how was that? i've never ordered from them before. thanks for any info you can give me--maybe i'll be joining the gazelle crowd soon! lori
|
I'm back. Stinky dog is now clean. :)
Lori - I bought mine from a home shopping channel website. (hsn.com). It was my first time to order from them and I had a really good experience. My Gazelle arrived in less than a week! I have the crosstrainer pro. I am not sure how it differs from the xtreme. |
Colneen, great on fitting behind the steering wheel, these little 'suprises' are a real incentive to carry on, especially ones where you see/feel your body moving easier! WTG!!!xxxxx
Xena, glad you 'unstinked' you dog, lol, what kind is he? My parents have our dog, he's a Staffordshire bull terrier & though he goes in the sea every day ( my parents live on the coast, 3 minutes away from the beach) he hates baths! He sits there all dejected & depressed, but goes crazy when you dry him, he loves that! How does your dog like his baths? Hope you food goes better, but hey at least you're moving, everything helps, all the positive changes add up, or down, lol!xxxxx Sandy, sorry the meds are still not right, how often do you have to go to get your bloods taken & is it normal to struggle with getting the right dose? I'm sure my dad was put on a dose of Warfarin & that was it! then again in the Uk things aren't the same. Good luck getting them sorted, you will need all your energy with Thanksgiving AND Christmas round the corner!xxxx Well I ws TOTALLY OP yesterday and weighed in again today (I know I shouldn't but I do it every morning if I get the chance) and I'm down ANOTHER 2lbs! I think a lot was water ( I've spent so much time going to the toilet!) & was affected by suprise TOM. I won't reach my Christmas goal, but hey ANY loss is good, no matter how small! Misti, I missed your post about your microwave exploding! I'm sorry it happened, but REALLY glad you're ok. It must have really shaken you up, if you don't mind could you tell me again what actually happened?xxxxx Ammi, sorry about yesterday, Philip was being a right pain, hopefully I can catch you this afternoon/tonight(4-7pm) When is your anniversary?xxxxxx Gotta go & get a 'sample' from Aiden to take to the hospital, he's been wet during the day, so his wee has to be checked out, think of me chasing him with a bottle to try & get him to 'go' in it!!!lol The joys of being a parent! xxxxsharon |
Hi All,
What a lovely day it is today, it’s very cold, but the sun is shining and that always makes me feel great and ready to take on the world :D I have done half of my daily exercise and vacuumed through the house. Got all my towels washed and dried and now I am here catching up. I am kind of glad things are still a bit slow around here, I don’t have a mega catch up post to do  Michelle - how are those wounds of yours today? I hear you on the being fed up of changing the dressings thing. After my surgeries I had wounds that thanks to the MRSA infection took forever to heal. I had to have daily or alternate daily dressings for nearly a year after each surgery. I was not amused, but was so grateful to have my hubby here because he became my own personal nurse. He wasn’t happy with the haphazard way the home nurses looked after me, so he got them to show him how to do the cleaning and dressing of my wounds and he did it himself. He’s my earth bound angel  Lori - I am sure your dad will be so proud of you for not giving up on your diet, and for starting back with the exercising. Remember though that he won’t expect you to be perfect at either while you are still grieving. So don’t be hard on yourself on those days when you just aren’t up to giving 100% to either  Sue - what a wonderful NSV to be told that you are looking skinny :cp: It’s compliments like that which are really motivational. Remember them those times when the FFM lets you down. Heather - well done on having your totally OP day, how have you been doing since then? Good for you for not letting yourself get down, the FFM’s spite just because you announced you weighed 179 before your official WI will soon be forgotten. She’s bound to pay you a visit soon. Sharon - if I had a lottery win and if Tony Little sold franchises I would definitely love to have one with the Gazelle Rider. In fact even if I couldn’t have a franchise, if I was rich enough I would want to set up Gazelle Fitness classes all over the country. I know for sure that I would love to go to a class like that even though I have my own Gazelle at home :D I’m a Gazelle Rider addict  Congrats again on another 2 lbs lost, that’s great news :cp: Keep this up and you may just reach your Christmas goal!! No worries about yesterday, I guessed you were busy with Philip. Have you heard from him today, did he get back to the docs and did they give him meds this time? about obtaining a sample from Aiden, at least you have a boy to get it from, much easier than trying to get a sample from a girl  My anniversary is on Thursday, this year it falls the same day as Thanksgiving Day in the US :D Jill - you know all that I kept thinking as I read your post about you blowing it with your eating the other night? I kept thinking all that food is healthy food. In days of old instead of saying I ate too many pineapple chunks, or snap pea crisps, you would have been saying I had too many candy bars, too much pizza, etc. So I reckon you are doing brilliantly :cp: Patti - I don’t blame you for weighing before Thanksgiving, I think I will do the same when it comes to Christmas. I will weigh the Monday before, and then I don’t think I will weigh again until the first Monday after New Years Eve. Though of course I will be 100% OP from the 1st of January :D Thanks for the anniversary wishes, it’s 4 years this year, wow where has the time gone? Lori - :dust: coming at you all the way from cold yet sunny Wales :D I don’t know if I can take the excitement, not only is Kymberly thinking of getting a Gazelle, now you are too :cb: :carrot: :cp: Unfortunately I can’t answer your question about the difference between the two you are interested in, BUT I am sure if you go to the Tony Little website you will find all your answers there. WATP videos are good, I have one that I do when the mood strikes, but that actually makes exercising feel like just that, exercising. Working out on the Gazelle is fun from start to finish  Lilion - oh how awful of that woman to ask if you have been on a plateau for a year. Even if you haven’t lost an ounce since you last saw her, I bet you haven’t gained any weight either, and as a fellow dieter she should have had the decency to shut her trap if she couldn’t say anything complimentary like it being great that you had kept the weight off. I am glad you had plenty of other compliments from other people and I hope they helped you put that other woman’s words where they belong, in the trash  Nah  I’m not going to make it to the big 100 before you do, especially with the eating I have planned for Christmas time ;) And if I do by some miracle make it before Christmas I won’t be seeing it for long because I plan to allow myself up to a 7 lb gain over the holidays, BUT no more than that :D I figure I will be starting the new year with a mini goal to hit that 100 again, and from then on it will be down down and further down  Sandy - PM coming your way as soon as I am done here :D Colleen - nice to see you posting again, and :bravo: on those NSVs of fitting behind your steering wheel, and feeling that it’s easier to get up the stairs now. It’s those types of NSVs that keep you going and wanting even more  Xena - I am so glad to hear you are loving the Gazelle and that you no longer think Tony is annoying. I kind of think his info-mercials make him come across as annoying as well, but as I don’t have those videos you mentioned I will take your word for it that he is much better and likeable on them. I am sorry that your eating isn’t under control right now, but at least by exercising like you are now you are limiting the damage you might otherwise be doing by not always making good food choices :cp: Be proud of that  Yes you are right, it does seem like only yesterday that I was saying I had to get on track with dieting and lose some weight. I am so glad that I lost what I have in the space of time I have because now even if I only lose 1 lb a week I am already feeling good about myself and any extra weight I lose is just a big bonus :D Good luck with finding a prerequisite class so that you can do your MBA. I hope you can find one that you can fit into your schedule without feeling like you are burning the candle at both ends :crossed: Kymberly - thanks for the congrats on me hitting 90 lbs lost, I will be much happier when I am well into my hundred and something lost just like you are :D Oooooh goody, another interested lady in Gazelle Riders :cp:  I will convert EVERYBODY here before I am done  Seriously to answer your question I got my Gazelle from Ebay. If I lived over there though I would have ordered directly from the Tony Little Website. I would much prefer to have purchased it that way than having to bid on an auction to try to win one. It took me 5 attempts before I finally won one :D Ok I am going to write a few emails and PMs now, but I will be back later this arvo. Take care all and bye for now, Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
good mrning everyone just wanted to say hi before the day gets hectic! cold has come back in full force plus got to clean my house really good company coming tomorrow! congratulations on all the losses!
|
Hi Ladies - I didn't get any cardio in today so I feel lazy as ever. But, I did get 20 minutes in with my free weights! It looks like I am arrving in Victoria for the holidays 8 days early..so..I need to change my goal, lol! Tomorrow is my weigh-in, and I will do 2 lbs a week from tomorrows weight, I think. :) I'm so crazy...I'm taking my scale with me! I won't have access to free weights over there - surely not 3-4 days a week anyways! - so I am going to try to tweak my exercise while I'm there and do things that use my body weight, like pushups, dips, and punches, instead of biceps curls, etc. Just *something* to burn the muscles at least! Or if I can get in swimming that'll be great...I feel that everywhere afterwards! :D I really wanted to make it under 300lbs by New Years...but that is in no way going to happen...now I'm even hoping to make it under 310, sigh. Well, I will be back tomorrow with my weigh-in results and make a new 'Home For The Holidays' ticker with the updated weight and date. I am taking my laptop with me on my trip, so I can stay in touch. :) If I decide not to travel with it I can use my family computer anyways. :) 28 days away! Ladies, please send the FFM to my place tomorrow! PLEASE! Even if she won't take anything, just tell her not to drop anything off for me. ;) Hope everyone is well! Stay OP chickies!

Hey everyone-
Well I am up really late here...or should I say early? Its 4 am! This whole trip and catching that 4 am flight has thrown my schedule off. I am sure I will get right back on a normal one. I am such a night owl...even though my body is not! Well we got together out Thanksgiving meal. The only really "bad" thing is the green bean cassarole...YUM! But I look back now and realize my problem during the holidays have been out of control portions! So I think as long as I stay in control portion wise I will be fine. And I can't believe Christmas is so close! Speaking of Christmas...the mail from here takes forever so I have to get the cards sent out soon! I wanted to get maybe some cute Christmas cards with a polar bear on them because I live up here with the polar bears! As for staying OP...I have been doing good food wise. TOM is here which just is so annoying! Gotta love the water weight! speaking of water though..I nocited the tap water here started tasting strange. I am not sure what they did to it. But I really started to not drink much water at all. So we went and bought some packs of bottled water and I am drinking so much more water now! I easily have been drinking almost 100oz a day! Guess that it is a good thing! I am so behind on personals again...but let me get a few in.... LORI~Sorry you gained 5 pounds! You will get those 5 pounds off again soon! Hang in there hun!:cheer2: JILL~HAve fun on your trip! SANDY~Thanks! I am doing much better. I was just so worried about an infection mostly because I wouldn't have been able to fly back home. But things look good right now. (keeping fingers crossed!) Hope you are doing well! COLNEEN~Glad to see you back! Congrats on your NSVs! I still haven't lost a lot of weight but I see some big differences just between now and a couple of months ago. All the differences count!:) XENA~Sounds like you are really enjoying your Gazelle! I want one! Sounds like things are going good with you getting ready to apply for MBA school. That is so great your company will pay for a lot of it! KYMBERLY~I hope the not smoking gets easier for you! I have heard its so hard to quit. But you can do it!:D And I want a gazelle also! All of this gazelle talk makes me almost want to pay the high shipping cost for one up here! Sharon~Congrats on the 2 pounds lost! WTG!:cp: :) AMMI~Aw that is so sweet about your DH! MY DH was so funny because when we got back to the hotel room he was like I am off to get bandaids/gauze pads. He must have come back with 10 diffrent types of wound dressings! My wounds are doing much better...I still have to change them twice a day but they are looking better! I just worry about the one on my chest because its so large! Thanks for asking!:) Oh and 90 pounds lost! You must be so proud! You for sure will meet your 100 pounds lost goal!:cheer2: Ok well I am about to pass out..have to get some sleep! I hope you all have a great day! Take care! |
