300+ And Ready To Try Again #1064

WELCOME!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears .
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Well, I just came back and lookie here, I'm opening threads already!

Girls, you've been quiet! I was fully expecting to have to catch up on 90 posts today!

Sharon! Look at you sweetie! If it weren’t for those red curls I would have hardly recognized you! You’re doing great! :-)

Valerie – I’ve been wondering how you were doing with your relationship. It sounds like you’ve done an amazing job of making hard decisions and moving forward. Congrats on your new job. Don’t you love payroll? ROFL Most of my clients don’t – hence my phone ringing off the hook! ROFL

Andie – it’s nice to meet you. Your baby looks precious in that photo of the two of you.

Zelma – Well, girl, I leave for 6 months and you’ve turned into a regular celebrity! A Current Affair, indeed! How are your kids this year? Do you teach the same grade every year or do you “move up” with the same class as they step up a grade? And, last time I was here you were struggling with exercising too much. How’s your body doing these days with physical activity?

Vicki – Thanks for the welcome back. You live in Fall River, MA – that is so great! You know, I live in CA now, but know how to properly pronounce Fall River since I lived in Boston for 5 years. If the weather there were not so crummy, I’d still live there. I love New England – everything but the harsh winter and balmy Boston summers. I am thinking that after I’m done with these personals I will take myself over to the exercise thread. Was a regular poster earlier this year. Posting my progress daily kept me accountable. Care to join me? Start with 5 minutes a day, if that’s all you can commit to! :-)

Wyllenn “NOT OBESE ANYMORE!!!” Enough said girl, I’m moving on to that exercise thread like RIGHT NOW.

Kimberly – another lurker come to light! I love it when people come out of hiding. Did you know that Welbutrin is prescribed to help people quit smoking? And, one of the “side effects” is weight loss and appetite suppression? I’m SO not a pill pusher – but thought I’d pass it on, just in case it helps.

Nancy – Wow, I love it how you’ve planned out food strategies for your trip. I hope it goes well.

Ammi, Ammi, Ammi! You look so darling in your new (to me) picture! :-) And, you’re exercising now! How things change when one goes away. Congratulations! And, thanks for remembering the lime green bit! You are a dear! :- )

Hi Xena!

futurediva 11-19-2006 05:46 AM

hi ladies, just a quick hello again , im working today, and unfortunately, this has been one of those weekends that i cant wait to get over:( Hopefully, i will have time to do some personals tonight.
It sounds like everyone is doing ok. Great to see you posting, MARIALUCIA:)
LAVANDEL: im glad to hear your dad is doing better.
Anyway, its off to work for me now. Have a great day!

voodoo1 11-19-2006 06:29 AM

Lavadel, glad your dad seems to be picking up, as for the 'not listening to doctors' I think that's something every dad has in common!xxxx
Newsnerd, I forgot to say how sorry I am about the split, but if you can be amicable during this AND stay OP you are something special! I know it's hard right now and you will be thinking of the good times you had but yopu need to look forward, if you stayed together you would both be miserable. Some time in the near future you will be happy & free and you really will be glad you took the decision.xxxxxx
Dolfin, you too, I know you've had some rough patches with your guy but you deserve to be happy & with someone who loves & respects you. I got divorced after 5 years of marriage, no money, a small son and lots of emotional baggage, but I managed. Look forward, there are so many things you can plan when you know where you stand, if you meet someone new, great, if not at least you are enjoying yourself and are happy.xxxxx
I weighed in today, no loss, but no gain, BUT I actually feel able to 'start again' with diet and exercise. The tabs make me feel a bit jumpy, but the Dr. warned me they might for a few days, but hey at least I'm being busy and getting stuff done!

Good Afternoon All,

Well it’s afternoon in sunny UK. Oh and that word sunny, it had sarcasm dripping off it  It is grey and gloomy, yuck. It was so dark that we actually slept until 11 am and when we woke up we couldn’t believe how late it was. I haven’t done much since then, just re-potted a lovely house plant that desperately needed a bigger pot, and now here I am catching up. I figure everybody must be having a lovely weekend because not many of us have been posting. I look forward to the week and hearing what everybody has been up to.

Sue - woops, good job you weren’t in the kitchen when the glass plate shattered,!! I don’t know, microwaves should come with a health warning other than the one about the actual microwaves

Yes I am dying too, to know how Xena rates the Gazelle. I wish she would hurry up and post !

Sharon - those meds are having an effect already, and I don’t mean the feeling jumpy bit. It was so good to hear you so optimistic and feeling like you really are ready to get back OP with the diet and exercise. I bet next week you will be raring to go with the exercise and there will be no stopping you.

Kymberly - I am really sorry this weekend at work hasn’t been a good one. I guess it’s even busier than you anticipated. I hope you at least manage to have a nice relax when you get home.

MariaLucia - Thanks so much for the compliments on my photo, it is pretty recent actually, taken in London at the end of August.

You are right, times are definitely changing when it comes to me exercising. Months ago I felt too unwell, and too fat to do any except housework, and now I actually MISS it when I can’t do my work out on the Gazelle Rider, plus my toning exercises. Amazing

Sandy (Chiema) - oh ok doing the Atkins diet does kind of restrict you being able to eat the every day variety of ice cream. I think you mentioned before that you were doing Atkins, sorry that I forgot. Anyway I am glad you are managing to cope with just small amounts of sugar free ice cream, is it totally helping your cravings, or just helping them a bit?

Ok time for me to get some emails written before I start today’s exercise. Bye for now,

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

Hey everyone-

We are back home! YAY! I was so ready to just get back home. And the flight from Anchorage went fine. It was not at all like the flight into Anchorage! I am healing still from the biopsies. The only bad thing is TOM is here. Blah! But the good news...I don't seem to have gained any weight! I was really thinking I was going to have gained 5 pounds! But I will have to wait until after TOM to actually see. Well I am still so drained! I hope to get back into the swing of things in the next few days. Sorry no personals...but I hope all of you are doing well! Take care and have a good day!

Hey guys!
I think I missed something like 12 threads! And my apologizes, I haven't went back and caught up yet. I did read the last couple though.

Not much is going on here. Busy working 2 jobs and trying to get everything ready for Christmas. The store gets busier every day and they are starting to call me in for extra shifts. This kinda sucks even though the money comes in handy, I don't get anything done around home. Today I am making meat pies (which is a tradional thing for us at Christmas) and going to try to empty the 6 totes in my living room. They are full of decorations  I am such a Christmas nerd!

nancy~ Hope you have a great vacation!

Lavandel ~ Sorry to hear that your pop wasn't doing so great.

raven~ I havent been very good either. I figure that the first time I started this journey, I made the committment and set my start date like 2 months before I started. Mental preperation I guess. This time, all I am going to do is not GAIN anything between now and Boxing Day. I then will start again!

:welcome: Back to MariaLucia and Vicki

Sue~ Maybe you should have called the fire dept. Some of those men are pretty handsome *L* Glad you got the fire out easily!

I'm sure there are lots more things I want to say but my smell of beef is looming *L*

Have a great day ladies!

Brenda

Misti in Seattle 11-19-2006 08:45 AM

Good morning, everyone! I haven't posted much lately because there just has not been time for personals and I don't want to come on here and just "me me me." :)

Ammi, LOL your weather sound glorious to me! :) Everyone laughs at me because I think the gray rainy cloudy days are invigorating. I made it through the hot sunny summer out exercising by looking forward to our beautiful Seattle winters. But LOL I guess I have gotten my wish... we have already set a record for rainiest November ever in Seattle and the month is only half over! :rain: My friends actually came up with my nickname "Misti" because of my love for the rain.

I too am anxious to see Xena's post about her Gazelle. Maybe she is so busy gazelling to take the time to post! :ebike: (not a great icon for the gazelle but best I could do LOL). And yes, I was glad I had left the kitchen before the plate shattered, as even though most of it landed in the sink, pieces of it did go flying around like missiles. :(

MariaLucia, so glad you are back! And yes! Hop on over to the exercise thread and help us rank up a lot of minutes!!!

Kymberly, keep on plugging! You are halfway through the weekend. I am wishing it could be longer!! :lol3: But yippeeeeee a long four-day one next week, yay! :woohoo:

Sharon, sounds as if the meds are kicking in and helping. So glad for that and hope it continues and you feel better soon!

Michelle, yippee that the biopsies are healing and you made it home okay! And good for you for taking it easy for a while until you can get back in the swing of things!

Brenda, you are a busy woman! :) Wow, two jobs is pretty tough. Sounds as if you do a super job of Christmas decorating! How about some pictures when everything is up and beautiful??? :) Please, oh please. :) And hey great idea about the fire department... LOL I should have thought of that! Blew my opportunity, right there, I did! But most of them are rather young for me anyway I guess. :) Good thing I am working all this overtime though... I have two trips planned AND bought the Gazelle... and now had to buy a microwave because that is one thing I am not willing to live without if there is an option at all. :) But if I had to catch it on fire at least I did it during the Thanksgiving/ Christmas season when there are lots of big sales on them.

Blessings to all
Sue

Misti~ pictures?? Well of course!!!!

jillybean720 11-19-2006 09:50 AM

Hmm...I don't know how I managed to miss a whole thread--I've been logging on daily! I guess I never posted when the new thread started, so it didn't show up in my "New Subscribed Threads." Well, anyway, I can catch up on this one:

Sue--be "me me me" all you want...it's good to see you here whenever you have time!

Brenda--6 Totes...that is too funny; I think I used 6 Totes when I MOVED! ;) When I have more space, though, I will be a Christmas nerd, too :D

mechell--so glad you're home and safe and healing...and weight-gain free! :carrot:

Ammi--ugh, we had one of those days here during the week. We had such bad storms all day that even when I left work at 3pm, it was so dark it seemed almost nighttime! Amazing how the weather can affect us...all I wanted to do was go home and curl up in bed!

sharon--hey, I'm not on any tabs of any kind, but I think you've shared some of your "jumpiness" because when I woke up yesterday, I had SO much ebergy! Before Jeff even woke up an hour later, I had done 2 loads of dishes, started the laundry, baked muffins, planned our shopping for the day...SO not like me!

futurediva--hope work goes by for you quickly today and that next week is a better one

MariaLucia--WELCOME BACK!!! :D Sorry it's a little late, butI wanted to get it in there!

kayleystar 11-19-2006 10:00 AM

Not much time to update, but the 8 pounds I gained before my period? GONE! :) Yay!!! I'm really really hoping for a loss next week, as it's been FOUR months....

Heather 11-19-2006 10:01 AM

Ammi -- The thought has crossed my mind that I am sabotaging myself on some level having reached this goal, especially as the same kind of thing happened when I hit 199! Also, I know the stress from the term is bugging me. Yesterday I did alright, except for the giant muffin I stuffed in my maw at the office. It was good, but not worth the calories, I'm sure. I'm a little concerned, esp as Turkey Day is coming, but I'm still writing it all down and most days I only eat a few hundred calories more than I want (other days it's more), and maybe right now it turns out is not the time I can be perfect. I'd rather ease off a bit and slow down weight loss and get back to it later than totally lose it! So, my new NEW plan (as of this second) is to give myself that break for the next week and get back on plan when the holiday is over and the grading is done (about another week). Of course, that week there are already some fun nights out planned, but I will just cross that bridge later.

I keep saying to others and myself that this is a lifelong journey, and every journey is going to have stalls and detours. But I can't have the all-or-nothing mentality, or I'll really go off kilter. So, I will keep on, not going crazy but not beating myself up for the 'extras' knowing that when things calm down it will be easier to get on track.

Misti (and Ammi) -- I never knew stuff like that could happen with microwaves! YIKES!! Though sounds like you got a great replacement.

I love technology, but sometimes it just seems it always needs to be replaced! This weekend we have 2 items to deal with: hubby's cell phone won't hold a charge and our Tivo died! More greenbacks to someone!

MariaLucia -- Glad to motivate you to the exercise thread, my dear! Yes, I made it to the elusive non-obese mark (according to the people who make the bmi charts. It's hooey, but it's a milestone!). But that mark (for me it's 179) certainly has been elusive! I reached it 2 weeks ago and announced it with a lot of fanfare. Since then, the scale hasn't been back! Perhaps it was miffed at my celebrating????

Heather 11-19-2006 10:02 AM

Jill -- I wonder if all your am exercise is contributing to your higher energy level??? Any thoughts?

Misti in Seattle 11-19-2006 10:09 AM

Hi again... have to dash and get ready for church but wanted to respond a bit. :)

Brenda, can't WAIT to see the pictures! Cool!

Jill, thanks for the encouragement. The thread just moves so quickly that sometimes I find myself so far behind it takes all my time just reading. :)

Kayley, so great that your extra pounds disappeared! I sure know what you mean... my scale is still not going down in spite of the fact that I am exercising my butt off LOL. But I AM getting strong: :strong: It is 7 AM and I already did 30 mins on my Gazelle!

Heather, hang in there! Yah, we can't be strong all the time. I'm glad you are sharing with us. And I agree about technology! I love it... but now apparently my camera battery charger is not working. I had two of them and they both quit on me. So now I will have to shell out more $$$ for THAT.

Everyone have a super day!

Heather 11-19-2006 10:11 AM

I posted this on the exercise thread, but am cross-posting here.

I'm reaalllly feeling the end of the term. I have 3 finals to give this week, and still a mountain of grading from last week. Never envy teachers at the end of the term.

Yesterday I had planned to do some cardio, but hubby needed my help raking. But it means I didn't also have time to do the cardio. Today is supposed to be weights, but also grading, grocery shopping and cleaning the house for the inlaws. So, no promises!

How's everyone else doing for the holidays? How will you stay on track over the holiday, exercise wise???? Food wise????
