  • Lilion -- It's so funny, I feel like I am struggling so hard to get the exercise in, so I don't feel like I'm doing so amazing. But, you're right, I have managed to keep plugging away at it, and it has been a big help! (I think the weightlifting especially). Sometimes it helps to hear from others you are doing well! So, thanks!

And, if it can help to motivate others, so much the better!

oooh... I know what Digestive Biscuits are! Take Ammi's word for it, they ARE great! Not too sweet, really, but yummy!!

Ammi -- Wow. Size M. Wow. Too big for my tastes!

As for Annie -- did she get that house from earlier this summer? Or something else?

Erica -- Yeah, our dogs are our babies! And please feel free to join us on the exercise thread! Maybe you could start in Sept? You don't need to set a big goal. Start with what you think you CAN do...

Jen -- Oh wow, seizure for your dog! Our dog had a mild seizure (his first one we think) a few weeks ago. It was really scary. Has your dog had them before?

Nancy -- We actually aren't back at school yet -- not until sept 11th. I'm frantically trying to gear up and get ready for it now. Congrats on the 3 pounds -- hopefully you'll be moving down soon again!

Hey, Kayley's still missing! And Julee, and Catherine... and many more!
  • Ammi - We have those exact cookies here in Canada! I loooooove them!!! Haven't had them in months and months, though. No clue about the name of them, lol.

Hi Ladies - Payday for DH today so I was out getting our groceries while he was at work - of course. Got in a TON of walking for just running errands...53 minutes! Eating has been good so far, so I'm feeling great! I took pictures of myself in an outfit I adore!! I'm wearing my size 22 pants in the pics - BUT they are still about 3/4" from buttoning up...but my longer shirt covers it, hehehehe. I will probably post them later on on the Pictures Page. Well, I'm off to do some scratch n' win tickets - whoot whoot! LOL! Hope everyone is doing SUPERB!
    Stay OP chickies!!

    Melissa
  • Wow ... things are movin fast again lol .. okee ...

Ammi - will start saving now for my Xmas Boulder Holder Maybe I can buy it online and have it sent to a friend over there to send on to me Gawd ... what was that woman thinking??? OMG .. I am somewhere round the F/G mark (yuck!! They better go down with the weight loss!!) and the back pain is terrible!! Why someone would want to do that to themselves lord knows ... wonder if she will reduce them when she gets older ... if she doesnt she may trip over them!

Sabrina - No prob on the tip for changing your ticker .. I read it on another post a couple of weeks ago and thought exactly the same thing rofl ... yayy I dont have to redo it every time lol ... let me know about your site too .. me nosey as well rofl

Nancy - WTG on your weight loss!! That is so good ... esp after a spell of the Fat Fairy being AWOL at your house Definitely a day worth celebrating ... esp hitting a round mark like 60lbs .. wow ... I keep on comparing loss of weight to blocks of butter ... over here we have 1lb blocks ... so now Im imagining a really high stack of butter ... wow! So kewl!
That is a good idea .. thank you ... 2000 calories is about 400 more than I was on for Jenny Craig which is why I wasnt sure about going up to that, but you make a very good point for when I have gotten down I wont have much room to move will I? Thanks for reminding me of that

Lilion - I have actually had to buy new underwear ... mine kept falling down!! I just measured myself last week and I have gone from a waist of 139cm to 124cm in the first month ... just wish my hips and chest would go down so fast rofl .. I feel like Im getting split in 2 cos the waist is going down 3-4 times as fast as the rest of me!! It is nice to treat yourself to something like underwear ... esp when its smaller than you usually buy ... my daughter is a size 16, but her jeans are getting baggy on her now (she is hiking them up all the time) so Im gonna be able to nick them one day lol ... will have to think about what I will do about the size 20 range of clothes tho ... I dont think I still have anything of that size tho ... humm .. now you got me thinkin lol.

CHOCOLATE DIGESTIVES - good grief ... I went and caved in this week and bought a packet of cookies for when I have visitors or a treat for me ... and these are the ones I bought!! Go figure lol ... they are yummy ... still sitting at the top of my pantry tho unopened

Heather - So pleased to hear your puppy is ok ... poor thing .. but Im sure if it was a sting it wont go near something like that again! And Im sure your older baby wont be too upset for long

Erica - You are doing great! Every little step towards your new lifestyle is a good one, dont keep comparing yourself to how others are doing theirs .. you can use it as an idea guideline if that is what you want to do ... but everyone works out, loses weight etc at different rates and all of us have different things in our days that we have to work around so you really need to work out what can fit in best with you with both exercise and food. Keep up the great work tho

Jen - Sorry to hear about your dog ... that must have been scary for you ... is there a reason your dog has seizures or is this the first one? Is he old or young? Dont fret over the exercise dvd tho ... With Turbo Jam according to their chart for times to do things .. I should be using all 3 dvds so far ... but I still cant co-ordinate the moves on the learn and burn so Im gonna stick to that until I get it right ... and right a few times lol .. then I will try the next one ... even if that does put me behind on the programme. I dont actually have the energy to do it every day as it says .. but the rule of thumb I was told is 20 minutes a day 3 days a week of cardio work .. so Im sticking to that rule at least

Melissa - Good on your for your day out and about. I look forward to seeing your fave outfit .. and it definitely is close to a perfect fit now isnt it? Well done!

Well .. I had my weigh in today ... and although I have been very good this week I havent lost an ounce!! But then .. I havent gained anything .. and as its TOM I will be happy with that little victory lol ..

I am feeling a little tired and sore today .. I did a bit longer on the pilates that usual last night and woke up a little tender, so will not do my Turbo Jam today .... but Im keeping busy anyway ... my dad is coming today to help us get the "barn" ready for my lamb. I will be keeping the lamb for as long as he/she lives They usually live about 6-8 years I think ... but that is a long life .. some are only about 4 years .. depends on the breed as well I think and Im not sure what sort Im getting yet rofl .. so tomorrow I will be very busy out in the garden, building etc so will be getting a good workout then to make up for not doing my TJ today (have done it 3 times this week tho so am sticking to my minimum 3 a week to start with).

Well .. better go and get lunch .. I really dont feel hungry tho .. so Im not sure what I am going to do lol .. have a good OP day all and HIIII to those that I have missed above
  • Wow- this is going to be a long one---I haven't been on for 24 hours!! I slept until 11am today- I guess I was tired from all those 4:30a morning the last couple weeks. it felt so good to have off, and have nothing to wake up for. I am on call 24/7 though- so I still had to deal with a few work issues- but at least I wasn't there. My friend came over this afternoon, and usually when we get together it involves some trip to a restaurant where we pig out. Instead we went to la madeline and both had salads! I was very proud, because even there I can find lots of greasy things to eat--and even better- french pastries! but I resisited, and i feel much better about myself. I was telling her about this thread and how encouraging it's been for me and she was like "what do you mean 300+ you don't weigh more than 300 pounds." I was surprised, as she's been my friend for 9 years I figured she knew how much I weigh- I guess how could she unless I told her?- so I just asked her what she thought I weighed- she guessed 250!!! I started laughing, and when I told her what I really weighed she looked like she would pass out from shock! She couldn't believe it- and when I told her that I had once weighed like 450, she about died. she said "well-look at it this way if I thought you weighed 250 think what you'll look like at 250--I know you want to lose more, but you already are beautiful- if you get even close to your goal you'll look like a model and probably stop talking to me!!" I thought it was funny- but it was real encouraging to know that she thinks I look so much smaller, seeing as I look at myself and see all 389.5 pounds. I guess it helps to have someone looking at you from a different perspective!

Ammi- What a good plan to not let the slip-ups get you behind, but do some "damage control" by working out more. And you've already gotten ahead by doing 3 miles!! This may be a stupid question, but what is a gazzelle rider?
You really made me laugh when you said you didn't want to take your bra off! I hate bras--I can't imagine a bra that comfortable. I did look at the website you posted, and they do look comfortable, but wow, not wanting to take it off ! I guess today is undergarmet day- so I'll continue by commenting on the underwear. I would never wear a g-string, but I personally love thongs and boy shorts. I thought I would hate them (thongs)- but an ex-boyfriend bought me a pair, and I loved them. It's like wearing nothing, you just have to get a pair that fits right- which I find at Lane Bryant. But boy shorts are my favorites, they really make your butt look super cute--and are cover much more than a thong- if you feel uncomfortable with being that uncovered.
I can't believe you've never tried guacamole!!! I live in texas so guacamole is an everyday thing around here (when I'm not OP) especially since my fiance is mexican. I'm a guacamole snob though- make sure you get fresh, made from avacodoes, without too much salt when you finally do try it.
About the job- If I get it, I will be happy, just will have to come up with a new plan of action as far as school and gym--but it will be good either way. I'm ready for a promotion, I've been bored with my current job for a while- I just am afraid of a disruption in my current program. When do you leave for London? It is this week isn't it? Have a good trip if I don't get a chance to say it again before you leave!

Sharon- I believe all scales are evil- but I think you found the granddaddy- adding 20 pounds and saying you are 4'11"- a huge difference from 5'8"!!! I know what you mean about trying to keep a place clean- i can barely keep up with me and my fiance, but when my Stepson comes for the weekend, I literally give up until he is gone- I don't know how you do it 24/7- kudos to you and all the other mom's on here!!

Jill- it sounds like you are doing good with your fruit and veggie day- better than I would. as I've mentioned before I hate veggies- I would have probably turned it into a fruit day--which probably defeats the point- give yourself a pat on the shoulder for trying and doing pretty well!

Lilion- I am also awful in social situations- I think my problem is that I get embarrased that I have to be on a diet while everyone else is free to eat whatever they like...so I throw caution to the wind. That's the good part of WW-having those flex points- you'll be much better offf, since you can make allowance for it this week!!
I also questioned what a digestive biscuit was- it sounded like a laxative to me I couldn't figure why ammi would have let something like that trip her up--but now I see, it actually looks pretty good-the true english really is like a foreign language all together

Erica- It sounds to me like you've got the right idea- taking a slow approach is more likely to be succesfull than jumping in and overwhelming yourself. that's what I did- only opposite from you I started excercising first-just because that's my strength. Idea for you- I saw that you cut out eating snacks while watching tv maybe you could try walking while watching TV? It would add some excercise, plus continue to help you keep from snacking...just an idea- you have to do what works for you! Keep up the good work!

Well- I know I missed some people sorry I was just too far behind- (plus I've already written a novel) but I have read everyone's posts and everyone seems to be doing really well. Keep it up chickies!!! Until tommorrow...
  • Nancy- I forgot- congrats on the weight loss! 60 pounds- that's terrrific!!!

  • Hi Everybody,

Sorry I missed writing in yesterday, I was not in a typing mood. I type so much with work, some days I just need a break I guess

Bad news - weigh in day for me and it's not only a 0 loss but I gained back my loss from last week. This week, in a day or 2, is TOM so that's likely part of it, and I'm bloated with water again. I am really sensitive to that. I take water pills the doc gave me and that just does nothing at all to help. I try hard to get my water in most days but yesterday I didn't do so well and here I am today bloated. I'm not depressed about the 0 loss but I'm a little annoyed that I gained back my 1.5 from last week. It will come back off when the water leaves me I think.

I had upped my cals from what I was eating in the beginning (1200/day) to now 1500-1600/day also. According to my fitday, it thinks I should be able to eat around 2000 cals/day and still lose. Well apparently not, hmm? I did much better when I was eating 1200-1300. I know there could be some other factors involved and so I'm not going to get too down about it. I need to tighten up on the water drinking, salt intake, and not eating after 9 pm (my cut off time, which I've been a little slack on lately). I just wondered if any others here have to eat much less than the charts say you should be able to eat?

On a more pleasant note... I received my "Just my size Yoga" in the mail yesterday and I did the whole thing through. My opinion on it is that if any of you have interest in doing yoga and find regular " thin person" yoga difficult, look this one up!! I really found it easier than the regular yoga. There were still a few poses that were hard to navigate for me, but she (her name is Megan) offers adjustments to make it easier until you can get into the poses. I cannot sit cross legged with my feet over my legs (that basic sitting pose you usually see) so she tells you how to sit in a chair to get the same effect. The teacher is really pleasant and easy to listen to, also. The DVD runs for 25 mins and does a warm up, various yoga positions, then a relaxation at the end. A+ for us that have a hard time with regular yoga poses.

I'm feeling worn out today but I still have yet to do my exercise for the day ( I'm a late-day exerciser, my preference). TOM is coming this week so I always feel really dragged out during that week, along with many of the other joys like cracking joints. yay!

I found some neat music downloads for free which are called mashups, so I'm going to listen to some of those tonight (if you like pop/dance type music, do a google search for mashups). They are basically DJ mixes of various popular songs mixed together.

I hope everyone's doing well. I saw the new bra that Ammi got at Marks & Spencer. We used to have M&S years ago here in Canada when I was a kid, but apparently not any more. I think they do have bras like that around here though, I think I've seen them. Oprah did a 'favorite things' show which had some bras on it that looked like those ones. I HATE regular underwire bras now, and only wear those when I am going out for dinner, etc. Otherwise I wear sports bras most of the time, especially at home.

    ~ Angie
  • Hi everybody... wow it is 11 PM but I want to quickly post a note.

Nancy, thanks for the info on Glamorise! I will have to check into maybe ordering one of those online!!! Ammi I really liked the looks of the one you posted but oh well if it is not in the US I am out of luck. But I may do some more googling to try to find a similar one... I have not found anything like it in the past.

But I really want a sports bra but have never found one my size! I went to Glamorise website and found some neat links... looks like JC Penney's has a nice one.

Jill LOL about wanting more... yah I can see you would want a bit although personally I can't imagine it. And Ammi, I'll have you know my boobs will now actually fit into a DDD cup, even though I still have to buy one too big around band size and sew up the sides... sheesh!

Oh and someone asked about why I can wear shorts and tank top in outdoor but not indoor... it is not that, but rather the fact that my apartment complex is lenient about it. But I did wear that at they YMCA before so may try it at a public pool. In any case I am thinking of new ways to get in my exercise.

Happy Friday (soon) to everyone!!! Hope the FFM is good to you

  • Question For All: I find I fit dress pants of the same size WAY sooner than jeans. What are the size differences between your jeans and your "regular" pants (if any)?? And this is assuming they both fit you the same.

Nightkatt - Thanks for the well done on my outfit!

Hi Ladies - Going to post a pic in the outfit I looooove. Then I'm gonna catch up on my magazines and do a little exercise later!
    Stay OP chickies!!

    Melissa

EDIT: Picture is officially posted, lol, I usually forget. It's post #76 on page 6. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/show...t=34758&page=6
  • Sory no time but I lost a pound, got to my 2 stone target & that's wearing jeans!!!!! I usually wear sweatpants. I am about to leave for my parents, so hugs to everyone, see you soonxxx
    xxsharon
  • Melissa- your picture looks great. i am more of a dress pants, skirts type of person. The only thing I have that is Jean is a jean skirt. i never liked the way Jeans felt. Anyway you are doing great and keep up the great work..
  • The Mystery Is Solved!!!!

'Digestive Cookies' acquired their name because of their high baking-soda content, which aids digestion. And now we know. LOL!
  • I don't see a post here from gagurl (maybe she started her own thread...I'll have to check), but I did see her pictures in the photo thread, and WOW, gagurl, you carry your weight extremely well! Even at 280, you've still got all your curves in the right places, unlike me--I'm just round all over

Thanks to everyone for your support of my choices on my fruit/veggie day. I am glad to say I survived and actually didn't even really get hungry like I thought I would. In fact, my salad from yesterday was soo good, I made the same one for lunch for today, too. Of course, I'll get other foods today besides just fruits and veggies, but it doesn't hurt to add them in to normal days, too

    Sharon--congrats on the jeans!!!

Melissa--I think jeans just are so stiff and are not as flexible as dress pants. I am MUCH more comfortable in non-jeans pants even though I do have a couple of pairs of jeans that fit.

Abbey--I agree...it'll most likely leave along with TOM. I also think you had a good idea to bump your calories up from 1200. I have heard that if you cut your calories more than about 15% from your maintenance amount, you will likely lose muscle instead of just fat.

Gotta go to work now...I'll finish up with personals when I get there!
  • Sharon... way to go on the loss! Yippeeeeee!

And I agree... I don't like jeans either. I prefer sweatpants... the unlined type most of the time. The last ones I found were like sweatpants only no elastic in legs.
  • Hello Chickies!

A quick post today. Trying to fit it in before my next appointment!

Re: Jeans v. Dress Pants. I think you fit into dress pants earlier because the better quality clothes are the bigger they run. Also, they expect you to wear jeans tight and dress pants loose...so they are cut roomier. That being said, I am the opposite of most of you.... I tend to stay away from dress pants and wear jeans only. I have one pair of dress pants - a size 18 I recently got back into that I never got rid of from years ago, that are just a lightweight pull-on pant. Love them. I also had a pair of 18's in a wool, fully lined dress pant, but gave them away thinking by the time they fit it would be too hot to wear them...I may have to get them back. Otherwise I usually find that the lighter weights and cuts of dress pants ride up my fat, fat, FAT inner thighs and look funky when I walk. Same reason I don't wear shorts - unless they are cut-off blue jeans. Jeans don't do that. I've been very tempted to cut up a pair of good jeans and make a pattern to sew pants from better fabric. But can't bring myself to waste a good pair of jeans that way! I find nothing more comfortable than a well-broken-in, soft, well-fitting pair of jeans. So...Mostly I wear skirts to the office and live for casual Friday!

Melissa ~ Thanks for the "digestive" info...that makes way more sense now! Can you imagine trying to market a cookie called a "digestive" in the US? It'd never go over.

Time to go! Have a good one ladies!
  • Quote: I find nothing more comfortable than a well-broken-in, soft, well-fitting pair of jeans.

I AGREE!!! I cannot wait for those days again, LOL! I love when you finally break in stiff jeans and no matter how many times you wash them they still seem to be molded into your body shape, hehe, fits like a glove! Here the largest size of jeans is a 22 - I've got about a 6" gap between the buttons last time I tried them on...and 1 month into my journey I went to Vancouver and they sell size 26 at the mall there, tried those on with about 6" to go as well...BUT, I've lost 3" or so since then....so I might go into the city next month and buy a pair of 26's - they might be fitting me soon!!! I have one pair of 26's now that fit me...but they're all holy, and REALLY stretched out so it's not an accurate fit now, lol. I hope to be able to fit any size 22 clothes here in January, we will see! I can't wait to buy new clothes!!!!!!
