  • Hi,

When I first started dieting at 329 lbs I couldn't do much exercise at all. In fact just walking to the shops was a chore. I walked whenever I could, and dieted and as the weight started to come off I could walk more and more. After a couple of months I felt ready to try more structured exercise so I bought a Tony Little Gazelle Rider. I started off with just 10 minutes a day, it was so much fun, although a little hard to start off with, so I pushed myself into doing 15 minutes twice a day, and now I do 30 minutes in one go and am still loving it. I still walk whenever I can as well and for now that is plenty enough exercise for me.

I hope you find something that will suit you, there sure have been enough suggestions on this thread so far

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • I would encourage you to do what you can and not overly push yourself initially, but keep doing a little bit more.

I would also encourage you to join us on the 300+ exercise thread (stickied at the top of the page)! We try to keep ourselves moving and set a number of minutes to exercise a month. Start small, with just a few hundred minutes and then work up each month.

We also count our minutes as a group, which is fun! And we have exercised over 100,000 minutes this year!

So, pick anything, realize your current limits and just keep working at it!
  • I too started out with just walking and gradually increased it. But I have found that water aerobics is the greatest ever... because I can DO things in the water without the weight holding me back as much. Also I can exercise a lot of different body parts at the same time. It has done amazing things for my weight loss and especially my toning and firming up. Granted I do them rigorously and with weights and stuff... still it is fun and not that hard.
  • Aunt Froggie: You don't have your PM option turned on so I wanted to mention to you to come join us on the 40+ thread. I was started a year ago because so many of us have found that right around that 40 year mark there are additional challenges to losing weight. You catch us on the current number by clicking on this link. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91447 Hope you'll join us.
