  • WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
    We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

    Motivational Monday
    Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
    Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
    Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

    WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!
  • Well, wouldja look at that - I think I did it!

OH, ZELMA! That is so SO WAY COOL!!! I’m so excited for you!! You certainly have MY vote!

BRENDA, I hope you have a really happy birthday. Don’t you have a lottery up there? Tell him you want a “winning” ticket. I think your renewed commitment and refreshed energy is the BEST present you could have. Over 70 pounds gone already? FANTASTIC! See how good last year’s gift to yourself was??

SHARON, your “new” hair sounds cute. I bet that color looks great on you. I was blond for a while… it did NOT work for me. I saw a picture of myself a couple years later and asked “Who’s that?” My friend had to tell me it was me, and I was horrified. When I had tried to dye it back to natural, it turned rather pink. Looked lovely in the sunset light – hahahaha.

Wyllenn, get yourself some cranberry juice – not that mixed cocktail sugar stuff, just straight pure 100% cranberry juice. Mix 4 oz of it into a quart of water that you’re already drinking anyway (right?) It helps detox your liver and general system, flushes extra sodium and releases water weight you didn’t know you had. It also kicks FFM hinny.

PATTI, consider him punched. Now C’mon girl – you’ve broke the double O, put the 3’s behind you… Who’s the guy that says “C’MON DOOOOOOOWN!” ?

Hi Misti, RKRS, Crock, Lilion, and EVERYONE!

I’m behaving well my first day home – had my fiber, drinking glass 3 of my cran-water, had a bit of protein (pork chop) and my broccoli salad with lemon and flax oil dressing. That last doesn’t SOUND good, but it’s amazingly great.

I slept in till 11:30 this a.m. trying to beat this bronchitis, but I guess it’s time to venture out into the world. Going back to bed sounds so good tho too...
  • hey again guys.... I am feeling better now. I threw out ALL the garbage food in the house. I also started a blog today. I havent had the time to concentrate on ME but with my fresh start that is happening, I am going to make sure that I MAKE the time.

Feel free to check out my blog [email protected] if you all wish. I am doing my best to update it each day re. my foods, thoughts and even my failures.

I dont really know what I would do without all of you. You really help to pick me up and make my fly straight again. Thanks to all of you~

    Brenda
  • brenda that would be bob barker. i am working hard but this week has been tough OP wise and next weel wont be much better. oh well just got to be strong and determined! thanks for punchiung him for me.

  • I forgot to congratulate ZELMA! I'll have to go back and get the link -- tell us when to vote!!!!

Val -- Thanks for the cran juice idea. I might give that a try. If nothing else, it'll help keep me hydrated in the heat we're expecting this weekend!

Brenda -- 70 pounds in a year is a GREAT gift to yourself. How about another one like it for next year??
  • YAY ZELMA!!!!!!!

Just wanted to stop in real quick to say hello...I've made a milestone lol...10 lbs gone putting me right at 300..hopefully by this time next week I'll be reporting that I've made it to the 2's woohoo!!!

Did ya miss me? LOL. I don't think you even noticed I was gone. I had company for the past week. I had a great time. She left yesterday. To everyone who is loosing.... Yipeee. To those who are struggling.... Big Hugs.

Val: Nice to see you home. Good job on starting the new thread!

Zelma: I'll vote for you any old day!

Sharon. You are so cute! I loved your pics. You look so small!

Ammi, Suemarie, Patty, Hpnotq, Misti, Kayley, Brenda, Nancy, Crock, ummmm all my ladies. Big hugs and I'll try to do personals soon. I did weigh today and I am down another 3 pounds. I'll have to post it on my tracker. I have exercise to report too. OH boy busy month for me the rest of the month. I have a job interview on MOnday for a Part time Admin. Assist.

    Blessings to you all,
    Annie
  • Hi All,

It's half past ten and I am late posting again because I had a nice day out today. We didn't end up going to the Mumbles, but we did go to the beach after doing some shopping and Daren had his hair cut. I am thrilled to report that I bought some PJs today, and instead of buying 30/32 I bought 26/28 it's nice to finally go down a clothes size or two

Melissa - You can really tell, especially in your face that you have lost weight. Thanks so much for putting your comparison pictures on the pic page for us to see!

Valerie - I am really sorry that you have been suffering with bronchitis. I hope you will feel much better soon. I bet it's nice to be home again. Will you be staying for long before you have to be on the road again?

WOOHOO you did it, you ended an old thread and started a new one. No more being caught out for you

Misti - yes you are right about the FFM, I think with us ganging up on her though she will know it's time to let Heather get to Onederland!!

I got my pedometer today. I set it all up to work, but haven't had chance to wear it yet, so have yet to see how accurate it is. I am looking forward to seeing just how many steps I walk expecially when I go out.

Zelma - Now come on, was there every ANY DOUBT that you would get into the final If that magazine had turned you down then they would have been mad. I am so THRILLED for you that you are in the final and rest assured that I will vote as many times as I am allowed (will there be a limit) once you post the site link.

Brenda - you have lost 73 lbs since your last birthday, what a fantastic achievement Why will you be depressed? You are so much lighter than when you started your diet, and you should be proud of yourself. And of course you will recommit to your diet after your birthday treats if you have any, and you can look forward to another year of losing weight

Sharon - ooh that is great news that you have unofficially lost 2 lbs Yay that the scales are moving down down down!

Can't wait to see photos of your new hair style, straight and red, my goodness, will we recognise you I wonder!

Sorry I didn't get chance to chat again today. I didn't have much time on the PC today, and when I was online earlier I was looking for train times and fares to Weston Supermare. We are thinking of going there on a day trip one day in the holidays before Beth goes in to have her tonsils out.

Rkrs - what have you been busy doing? Dancing, dancing and more dancing Seriously, I hope life isn't too hectic for you and that you get to post more soon.

Heather - ooooh I am excited for you already. You took a sneaky peak (naughty naughty lol) and it seems you are going to be in Onderland officially on Monday Sounds like the FFM has been taking Misti and my threats seriously

Lilion - oh hello stranger Lovely to see you posting here. I really must find some time from somewhere to pop onto the old hens site and read any posts you have there. I hope all is well.

Patti - right let me at him, come on, out the way, where is he, that husband of yours??? I don't believe he is the FFM, BUT he is definitely one of her helpers. I am sorry you didn't have a good WI today, but just think of all the walking you will do next week while you are with your sister, and hopefully you will see those lbs coming off again

Hpnotq - well done on losing 10 lbs, you are definitely going to be in Twotown by this time next week

Annie - well done on losing another 3 lbs You are definitely on track again and those lbs are going to keep coming off.

You are ALWAYS missed here, never think otherwise Glad you have had time to post now that your SIL has left.

Keeping my that you do well at that job interview on Monday, if you need a reference or a few just tell them to come onto this site and everybody here can tell them what a fab person you are and how lucky they will be to have you working for them

Ok well I need to get some sleep now, I am glad I had time to catch up today, and I will definitely be back tomorrow. I have a day at home, got to do some laundry but apart from that it will be a lazy day, yay. Take care all,

    Hugs,

    Ammi
  • First of all, thank you all VERY much for the congratulations and wonderful comments. I hope you all know how much I appreciate them and how fantastic they make me feel. I just wanted to do the “thank you”s first, otherwise I would be starting each individual reply with one.

I can’t wait for the Slimming and Health magazine to come out in stores next week. I want to show everyone in the stores my photos. I am SUCH a show off! I managed to show lots of people at yesterday’s Professional Development my before and after pics. They were really impressed, which was great. I also managed to show the lady at the bookstore my pics today and she gave me a big hug. That was really special because she has lost weight through WW and knows the struggle.

The website for the magazine is: http://www.slimmingmag.com.au/
The Slimmer of the Year comp is currently under “Diet”, but it only has the info about the competition so far. The entrants and voting will be up on Wednesday morning our time, which is Tuesday afternoon/evening for most of you guys. They may even have a more direct link for the voting. I’ll post that one when/if I find out.

The holidays are still going pretty well. Hubby is off for just over a week now, which is lovely. We spent most of this morning looking around a children’s bookstore. I spent WAY too much on books for this term’s theme of Space. I had been having so much trouble finding books on the theme that I thought I would have to write my own. Luckily this store has a very different range of books, so I should be set for a while. Mind you… there is another wonderful children’s bookstore that I haven’t checked out yet. Oh dear. If it’s not new clothes, it’s books. Lucky hubby is patient with me.

I have added a few recipes to my website. They are basically just other people’s recipes that I have pinched or ‘tweaked’. Hopefully I’ll add more as I become more adventurous in the kitchen.

Kayley – It was lovely to hear about your time at the Medieval event. It sounds simply wonderful. Mind you, I am not sure I would have enjoyed the hassles you had getting there. I would be in trouble lately, as I have to go to the bathroom SO often. We would have been stopping every 20 minutes or so. Pity you didn’t have the camera with you. I would have loved to have seen pics.
I’m sure Andrew’s dad will love you. What is there not to love huh? You are such a special person and if he doesn’t see that then that is HIS problem. I worried SO much about meeting Neil’s parents and both of them just accepted me straight away. Neil had told me not to worry, but I just couldn’t help it. I look forward to hearing about the Venetian Festival… and the ‘dad’ encounter.

Mary – It is great that you are getting back on the wagon, before you really had a chance to even get fully off it. You have really just been ‘running alongside’ it, waiting for the opportunity to leap back on.
You mentioned decaffeinated green tea. I have only just started drinking green tea, as I don’t usually drink hot drinks, and I haven’t had tea in a LONG time. I originally got the tea to have as iced tea, but never got around to it. Now I am enjoying having it as a hot drink, as I am freezing all the time. I haven’t looked for decaffeinated green tea. I’ll have to see if I can get some. My favourite at the moment is ‘vanilla’ flavoured green tea. I do have to have a little honey in it though or it is too bitter for me. Just a tiny drizzle seems to be enough to take the edge off it.

Melissa – It is SO obvious that you are loving the swimming AND the walking. I can almost ‘see’ your smile from here when you talk about it. I am glad you have found some exercise that you enjoy.

Nancy – How is that filing coming along? I have SO much that I should be organizing, but it seems like such a mammoth task at the moment. I may just have to approach it in bits and pieces and chip away at it gradually.
You are SO right about me having unrealistic expectations of myself now that I have lost weight. I hadn’t really seriously considered that before you mentioned it, but I do have to forgive myself if I get a little tired now and then. I am still only ‘human’, even if I am half the human I used to be. Thank you for reminding me of that fact. Now I just need to type it up and post it where I can see it every day. Then maybe I’ll stop kicking myself.

Sassy – You just make sure you take care of your back! That’s an order! Well, it sounds as though you are actually making sure you DO look after your back, but I’m on holidays and just felt like using my ‘teacher’ voice. Seriously though, I am sorry that your back is hurting at the moment. I HATE having a sore back. It usually makes me not a very nice person to be around, because I just can’t get comfortable. I hope you have some relief soon.
I look forward to hearing which car you choose. I love the smell of a new car, and would love to get a new one as soon as the ‘new car’ smell wore off. Could you send me some of the new car smell in a bottle do you think?

Ammi – Glad to hear you are having some lovely weather. Ours is mostly clear, but VERY cold. About once a week we are having a wet day, but for winter, that’s not too bad.
Thank you for posting Sharon’s pics. It is great to be able to see the people who have become friends on here.
I’m glad you had a lovely day at the beach. You deserve to have so many wonderful days. I certainly hope that your family appreciates having such a beautiful wife/mum.
Well done on getting the smaller pjs. Do they have cute pics on them, or are they more subdued? The last pjs I bought were Winnie the Pooh ones. VERY cute and they looked great on our Triple B Day. I have a pic in the school newsletter that I want to show everyone, but we don’t have it up on the school website yet. Some of the kids in the newsletter (not my pic) haven’t been given clearance to have their pics on the internet, so we have to wait. I am a little ‘peeved’, as I want our pics to go up.

Annie – To be honest, I hadn’t noticed you were missing, so I didn’t have time to miss you. I can’t believe it has been a week since you posted! It only seems to be a couple of days, and because I don’t often get to post for a couple of days, I thought you were just busy for a little while. If I’d realized that it was a WEEK, I would have had the Mounties/police/dingoes, EVERYONE out looking for you. Sorry that I am not a very observant person. I’m glad you had a good time with your company. Did you just spend relaxing time together, or did you get out and about to check out some sights?
Good luck with the job interview! I will keep my fingers/toes/legs etc crossed for you.
Well done on those 3lbs gone!!!!

Valerie – I hope you get some relief from your bronchitis soon. It can’t be much fun trying to stay fit and healthy when you can hardly breath comfortably and are coughing all the time.
I am going to pick up some cranberry juice today when we shop. I have been reading your posts and I think that I may benefit from drinking cranberry juice. I am sure that I am holding too much fluid in my body, and I tend to have ‘bladder’ problems, so I figure it can’t hurt to try huh?

Brenda – I am looking forward to going and checking out your blog. I find it very enlightening to read other people’s thoughts. There are often SO many similarities to my own life.
I am glad you are making such a determined start to the next stage of your new lifestyle. It just shows your inner strength and commitment. It is always OK to ‘lapse’, as long as you don’t make it a permanent change.

Hpnotq – Well done on that 10lb mark!!!!! I am sure we will hear the cheers from here when you get to the 2s. I hope you are smiling as you wave those 10lbs goodbye.

Well, I think I’m all caught up now. I have to dash to get ready to go shopping. I hope you all have a wonderful start to your weekend.

    Take care,

    Zelma
  • Hi, I'm new. I've been a little down today so I was casting about for some encouragment, and it looks like I've stumbled across the best kind! A whole community of people trying to do the same thing I am.

I just want to say thanks for being here!
  • Hi ladies. Sorry I've been somewhat MIA again. I've been on vacation, but I think I would have gotten more rest at work The in-laws got here on June 30th. My grandma and aunt and uncle from California were here at the same time. Then, we had our "reception" and family reunion on the 1st of July. We stayed in my home town from the 30th to the 5th, then went back on the 6th and stayed overnight because my oldest sister was in town. This was the first time all five of us kids have been together for a photo opportunity since we were very young (I was about a year old the last time I believe).

We came home to check on the cats and make sure everything was okay on the 3rd. We came home to a disaster. Our kitchen had flooded, and the water had gone out into the entryway to the hallway and into our bathroom. It took us literally 8 hours to clean up the mess. We ended up having to buy a wet-vac and then rented a carpet cleaner to finish up. My house is just now getting back to normal after that little fiasco.

The rest of the time has been spent cleaning my house and enjoying my family. I have absolutely loved spending the quality time with hubby, but am glad he's back to work already, because we're starting to get on each other's nerves. I know part of it is PMS, but part of it is just because being together 24/7 for 2 weeks is more than enough.

Tomorrow I go back to work, and I'm sure it will be an absolute disaster. I've had several phone calls since I've been off work, so I can only imagine what kind of damage control I'm going to have to do. I already know I have to rearrange the schedule since one of my secretaries is on bedrest now, and another just came down with chicken pox at 33 years old. And, just to add another monkey wrench to the mix, I've now enrolled in 4 high-credit courses for the fall semester, beginning the 23rd of August. Time to put my multitasking skills to the test!

Weight loss has been nonexistant still, but I'm now on thyroid medication so hopefully this will jump start my loss again. I'm back up to 344 as of today, but some of that is water weight. I'm sad more than anything, but life goes on, and so does the battle!

Enough rambling I suppose. Congrats to all the losers, welcome to all the new ladies, and hopefully everyone has an excellent weekend!
  • hello Jenn welcome this is a great site. Ammi sounds like you had another really great time! aNNI GOOD FOR YOU YOU ARE DOING GREAT! me i am struggling alittle this week but will get up sat. and get right back on track... hubby or not!
