We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us. WELCOME! I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out. If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site. Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker. There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!! |
BTW, Annie, meant to tell you I love your new avatar with your dogs (though would love to see you in there too!).

Take Care All |
Hi Everyone,
I am still on a bit of a 'downer' (yep... again!) since yesterday afternoon, as I had gone to the doctor to find out why I was so tired and she is pretty sure that I am still exercising too much. I REALLY didn’t want to hear that, because it makes me feel as though I’m not doing things right and I thought I had worked it all out. She made sense though, because she said that my body had gone through quite a trauma over the last couple of years and it needed time to recover. She actually said that the amount of weight I had lost, in the time I had lost it, was too fast. I was really surprised to hear that because I have always read that you can lose half to 2 kilos a week and that is fine. I lost one kilo (2.2lbs) a week for most of the time, and less than that at other times. I truly thought that I had done this in the healthiest way possible. She said that ‘medically’ a loss of that much is TOO much. I have a feeling that it could be more to do with HOW MUCH I lost, because it is probably OK to lose, say, 30kg (66lbs) or so at 1kg a week, but to lose what I lost should be done at a slower rate. I’m not really sure, but that is all that I could think would be the problem. Anyway… I think that because my body is still recovering from this ‘trauma’, I should give it a bit of a rest. She said that the weight I am at now is perfectly fine, considering where I have come from, and I should just maintain that weight. And, to maintain a weight, you only need to do 30 mins of exercise, three times a week. WOW!!!! I really don’t know if I can cut back to that little. I didn’t exercise yesterday afternoon, after the doctor’s visit, and I didn’t exercise today, but I plan on doing something tomorrow morning. I have been walking to school yesterday and today, which is a 10min walk each way, so I feel as though I am still getting some movement in. I decided to walk because we are trying to save fuel, with the prices being so astronomical. I have driven before because I have so many bits and pieces to get to school, but Neil is taking some with him when he walks up earlier, so that is making things easier. I think I will be able to cut back my workouts to ONCE a day, for 30 mins, alternating the equipment I use. I think though that I will still try to exercise every day of the week and see if that works and I get more energy. I know that I am probably addicted to working out (the doctor said that too), but I am fit now and I don’t want to lose that fitness if I can avoid it. I have always wanted to lose weight to become healthier, and being fit is part of that, so I would prefer to not drop my fitness level. It is going to be a little ‘trial and error’ I think. I just wish that I didn’t feel as though I have ‘failed’ in some way by still not being able to sort out how much exercise to do. I know I have achieved such amazing success in losing this weight, and now I feel as though I am not doing too well. I just have to get my mind around that though. The doctor did say that if I can’t stop exercising, it may be worth talking to a psychologist about it. I don’t mind doing that if the need arises, as I would prefer to have myself ‘mentally’ and ‘physically’ healthy. Anyway… that was all that happened about the tiredness part of my visit, but we also talked about other stuff, so I have a few other things that we are looking into. I had a blood test done today to recheck my B12 levels. I am also going to have a bone density scan done, because of the Vit D deficiency and the contraceptive needle I was on can affect this. I am ALSO going to have a heart monitor attached for 24 hours one day to see how that is going. It is to try and pick up the palpitations I sometimes get, but they are so irregular that I don’t know if I’ll have any in the time I have it on. I’m not sure it will just read my heart rate, to show how low it gets. I’ll have to wait and talk to the people about it when I get it put on. I ALSO had to go back today and have a ‘punch biopsy’ done on a patch of dry skin on my back. She said that it looks like some kind of allergy, but because I have had it for so long, she wanted to do the biopsy to make sure it wasn’t anything worse. I mentioned it to her because my exercise bra rubs on it and makes it weep and it even bled one day. Other than that, it hasn’t changed at all in years, and it hasn’t bothered me before. When I asked her if it was worth getting it removed because it was rubbing when I exercise, she looked at me calmly and said that it might be OK now because I wasn’t going to be exercising as much… was I? OK… point taken. I don’t like having a ‘punch biopsy’ done, just in case you were wondering. The anesthetic needle hurt, and I could feel a bit of the procedure still. I had my very first stitch too! And I could feel a little bit of that towards the end. For some reason, anesthetics don’t seem to last long with me. She took a few good chunks of skin out, and I have to have it covered for a week, which is going to be fun. Poor Neil has to help me dress it each evening and I’m supposed to keep it dry. Showering is going to be a bit of a contortionist act I think. Anyway… I have decided that I’m falling apart, but hopefully I will be put back together again after all of this. Fingers crossed that the biopsy comes back clear. I don't have time for personals after that 'novel', but I'll try to get some done tomorrow. I should have time on my hands if I'm not exercising in the afternoon. *sigh* Take care, Zelma |
Wyllen - I am SO glad your husband got a job!!! What a relief for you. I can't wait to hear more. Was it from the phone interview? Does he get to wear the suit???
Take care, Zelma |
ummmmmmmmm Brandnew me is listed with her birthday,, did I miss Maria and Cerros announcement. or what? What ever Happy birthday, now or later..
Still drinking My coffee and trying to wake up.. |
Heather – That is great news about your husband. That didn’t take so long – what a relief!
Zelma – How do you feel about your doctor’s diagnosis? Does it feel like it makes sense to you or does it feel like she is looking for easy answers? I have to say I am slightly dubious about it. Maybe it is true, but from my understanding the body is built to work much harder than we do now. Think of people who spend all day in heavy labor. From what you say it doesn’t sound like you are working out THAT much. You may have been already planning on doing this, but I would ask Meg and/or Mel over in the Maintainers’ forum what they think. I forgot to mention my NSV from the other day – I was able to lower the steering wheel in my car and now I can see the odometer without having to lean forward! I was so thrilled I almost started to cry. Oh, and I have been officially banned from ever cooking collard greens in the house again (unless I can figure out a way to make them not smell). :) |
Zelma i hope you get a good report and can resume your exercise level but not at risk to your healyth.
Nancy keep on cooking those collard greens if you want to they are so good for you ! people will just have to adjust!! |
Nancy ~~tell me how you are cooking your collard greens. I am NOT getting enough vegetables per day,, and I have got to come up with something,,I have never been a big veggie eater..need somehelp here.++
Wyllen~ I am happy you hubby has gotten a job.. now settle down and get comfy and start posting .... Take Care. |
Heather - that is wonderful news that your hubby has found a job, :carrot: I want to know, just as Velma does, was it the job that he had the phone interview for, and does he get to wear his suit now :D
Zelma - I am sorry you are feeling so down. I wish you wouldn't feel bad because you think you haven't lost the weight and exercised the way you should have. To have lost as much weight is fantastic, and personally I think you lost it at just the right speed. Maybe you are exercising a bit much, I guess by cutting back a little you will soon find out. I am sorry you felt some of that procedure done at the docs on your back, ouchies  I hope that nothing nasty is found when they analyse what they took. Crock - MariaLucia mentioned it was her birthday coming up not so long back, Cerro mentioned it was her birthday today, and I know that Misti has a birthday coming up too. I think we should have a birthday list so we know when to wish our friends here a wonderful day. Glad my suggestion may have helped you in your efforts to finish that paper on torture. I bet you will be so glad to hand it in. Sorry that you feel like you are PMSing, and have water retention etc. I have never had allergies so I am not sure if that's all part and parcel of them. Are you taking any medication for them that you haven't taken before, maybe that's the reason why you are feeling rough. Good on you for staying OP even though you aren't feeling the best  Brenda - that is excellent news that you can finally have the Apnea machine. It looks very convoluted and constricting, but if it helps you to get a good nights sleep then I am sure it will be worth it. Besides I have heard people say they soon get used to wearing the mask etc. Do the docs think your apnea will go once you lose some more weight? Nancy - :cheer: that is a wonderful NSV that you got to lower you speedo, it's the lovely things like that which inspire you to keep on going isn't it. I am really happy for you :carrot: Please do tell me what Collard Greens are, is it some type of cabbage? Patti - hi, how are you doing today? Bye for now, Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Ammi~ I am just going to drink a gallon of water today, inhale it that is. and see what happens.. I will call the Doc Tomorrow if it continues.. and see if it has something to do with the inhalor or the Allergie Meds.. Allegra D..
I have made it to page 7 now on the report.. 3 more to go.. whooo hooo. |
Ammi i am doing great today.. got my exercise in so now i have to do some housecleaning and get ready to Idol tonight! how are you doing now? is the cream from the DR. helping?
|
Crock - glad to hear you are now on page 7, only 3 more to go, come on girl, you can do it :cheer:
Also pleased to hear that you are going to call the doctor if drinking a load of water doesn't help with the water retention. Let's hope it does help though! Patti - glad to hear you got your exercise done, and now it's housework time. Are you going to put some great music on to make it less of a chore? I am doing great thank you, as for the cream, well it's early days yet, so no change. Hopefully it will clear the infection away within a few days though. You are so lucky you get to watch Idol tonight, I have to wait until Friday night to see it. You can tell me how they all sing, but please don't let on who goes out. I like them all now, so whoever it is I am going to be sad about it :( Hugs, Ammi :dizzy: |
Ammi - Thanks for well wishes on my pup. CONGRATS on your great progress, too! I know you are one of the wonderful people I haven't shouted to lately - sorry to you and all for my continued rush lately!
Wyllenn - Yippee! on hubby's job!! Brenda - Both my dad and sis said their machines made amazing differences! Zelma - I hope you find a happy medium on the exercise. I didn't think 2.2 pds/week sounds like too much either, but people's bodies are different, and what you did IS truly wonderful and beyond average! On birthdays, I think there was a birthday list and no one paid much attention to it so it went away?? Trying to check out of the motel. I still only have one sock on and DH is starting to fidget. Gotta go. I REALLY hope we get a run today. I hate sitting, and it kinda blows the good money we made last week down the tubes if we don't earn much this week. Adios! for now. |
Good morning everyone!
My birthday is on Thursday. Thank you all for your Happy Birthday Wishes! My ex and I had a conversation on Sat. where she was very cruel with her words. Going to work yesterday was barely tolerable - I have been awake this morning since my usual 5 am and I've just stayed in bed...thinking that if I didn't get up to exercise then time would stand still and I wouldn't have to go to work today. It's now 8 AM and I really don't want to go to work. I think she'll be there today all day. Yesterday she was installing all day, so I only had to put up with seeing her for an hour. My heart hurts so much. I just want to not see her again for a long, long time. I'll catch you all later. |
Cerro – Well, it was actually easy for me because my gym is in my office building. It is a big building with lots of companies and it has a small gym down on the first floor. Now if it was all people I worked with I’m not sure how I would feel, but since everyone is mostly strangers, I’m OK.
Sue Marie – I have really been wanting to try DDR, but we don’t have a Playstation and it didn’t seem like enough of a reason to bring yet another time and money sucker into the house. Crock – I boiled them for about an hour in water, salt and some bacos for flavor. Not much of a recipe, but I tend to cook mostly everything ad hoc. Ammi – Yeah, that was very creepy with those guys calling out “mommy” – I can’t wait to see what happens in the second episode! Collard greens are hard to explain – I guess the best comparison is cabbage, although they are much leafier like lettuce but very tough and really need to be cooked. Most often they are boiled with bacon or ham hocks, but I went for the taste without the grease. Maria Lucia – I am so sorry to hear that things are tougher than you had hoped. Is there any way you can work from home at all or does it have to all be done at the office? I SHOULD be working. I need to get a lot done this week before going on vacation, but here I am. Sometimes I am really hopeless. Hope everyone is having a good day. |
Thanks Nancy,, I have got to get Vegies back in to my daily eating,, it is just so hard for me.... but i will do it.. I must..
|
my lips will be sealed on who leaves. of course you know who i want to win lol. just got my television on while i am doing housework just picking up a little my sister is coming to visit for the weekend so i need to clean my spare room really badly!
|
Crock - Mostly I just do frozen veggies. I am not organized enough to plan meals and I hate to have veggies go bad before I get to them.
Patti - I am looking forward to tonight too. Elvis Presley - now that should be interesting. There is nothing better than guests to spur me to clean the house! |
i got my work cut out for me thats for sure.. since when spare room turn into junk room i have no idea. oh well more calorie burning i guess!
|
So I wrote myself a note at home reminding me who I was going to reply to...and I left it there..so I'm winging it.
Cerro: At first I found that I was hungry and not hungry at odd times. The biggest tip I can give you is to eat frequently. I eat 6 times a day....3 meals and 3 snacks. I get very cranky without them and I know when I need food (like now). Also, buy yourself a nice big water bottle (mine is 32 oz.) and refill it a few times a day. There are often times when we are thirsty and we misread the signal as hunger and we eat. Water is KEY! I also have so little dependence on refined sugars and processed foods. You will notice a difference. Fruits and veggies are your friends. I eat a banana every morning without fail. Take a multivitamin. Add spices (salt-free) into your cooking...make your food fun and appealing to eat. I would be happy to talk to you any time and share some of my other tips, menus, recipes, etc. PM me and I will give you my email address. SueMarie: One bra size? When I started WW was a 42D and now I am a 38C....they shrank! Thankfully they are also firming up nicely and arent as saggy as they were. Ok..so I didn't solve last night's problems with a brownie...I did it with ice cream. it was light ice cream...and I didn't eat the entire carton (Haagen Dasz). I felt better afterwards and punished myself in the gym this morning. But that was the first time in soooo long that I solved a problem that way. It's not a habit I wish to get back into and it really truly had to be done. Off and running for another full and draining day!!! |
Misti - You guys are really MOVING on your coast to coast challenge! I think it's great! :D
Val - Hehe, most of the people that I know are like that as well...I guess I've just always been very very OPEN. And it takes a lot to 'gross me out'...hehe. So two guys kissing, or two girls kissing doesn't really bother me....****, I've done it! LOL! Granted, I was drunk, and we were just being goofy, but cest la vie. :) Nancy- What an awesome NSV!!! YOU GO!!!! :D:D I think it's so great, and so convenient that the gym is right in your office, so you can't make the excuse not to go! Wyllenn - That's so great that your hubby found a new job so quickly! Send some of that luck MY way! ;) Zelma - I'm so sorry that you are feeling down...but if your doctor thinks you are overdoing it, I'd say take the advice for now, and see how it goes. I think that 30 minutes a day is definately good "enough". :) Hope everything comes back perfect for you, and that you start feeling better soon  Ammi - :bravo: on that -7!!!!! :D:D:D:D Maria - You work with your ex? Sounds like she's TRYING to piss you off! Julee - NO BROWNIES!!! You hear me?!??!?! :p Brandnewme, MariaLucia, and Cerro - :gift: :balloons: HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADIES!!! :hb::hb: It's only 4pm, and I'm pretty worn out! Went for a walk up town to the store with Mom, cuz we are making this low carb lasagne for dinner...we use sliced zucchini instead of the noodles...it is SO DELICOUS!! I like it as much as normal lasagne. Anyways, 35 minute walk getting the stuff we were missing to make it, and then came back here and mowed a lot of yard. Our yard is crazy...and there's a lot of walking. Could have used the riding mower, but I wanted to get in some more exercise. I think THAT counts as a NSV! :D Not wanting to use the rider? Oh yes! Anyhow, 45 minutes of that. While we were mowing, we saw a baby bunny, and couldn't figure out WHERE it's nest was. Then we found another at the other end of the yard, and ANOTHER in a nest. So I went and got some latex gloves on (so they wouldn't smell like me), and put them all into the nest. I'm such a sucker for baby animals...except for human babies...lol. I want to keep one SO MUCH! My cat would love that! Would probably figure I was fattening it up for his enjoyment! lol. Mom's outside doing some stuff to the pool. We raised the water level, so it's up to the skimmer, since it lost about 2 inches over the winter, and they are going to turn on the filter. Hopefully, by the end of May, we'll be swimming! :) My favorite kind of exercise! I definately should NOT weigh on a daily basis! It just bums me out. I had gained 5 pounds, and was up to 295 for about 2-3 weeks, right? And then I weighed in the other day, and was at 290 again, so I was happy with myself. Then, I went to Andrew's, and I just HAD to weigh myself this morning, and I was at 294! I hate fluctuation so much, and I REFUSE to change my ticker until Sunday, when I "officially" weigh in. Just kinda put me in a DOWN mood today. Skipped breakfast AND lunch...bad, I know, it's just that I'm not HUNGRY. I wish I had like a meal replacement shake so I could get the calories I need....meh. Well, hope you are all having a GREAT day, and I'll be around ;) |
Hi, I just wanted to pop in and say hello, its been a while. I do keep reading your posts as often as I can but at work we are seriously being watched for internet usage.... anyone would think they wanted us to actually work! lol
|
Patti - oh how I miss my spare/junk room. In my old house, I had a spare bed room. Like yours though it turned into a junk/storage room. It's so weird having a two bedroom house and having no spare room for storage. It really is a case of if there is no room for it, it goes out. Well I hope you get to get your spare room sorted out in time for your sister's visit.
Hope you enjoy Idol tonight, go on, tease me, lol, give me clues on who sings what Elvis songs tonight :D Nancy - I can't remember, who did you say you would like to win Idol? Have you watched all the seasons of it? Who is your all time fave of the winners, and/or runners up. My fave is Clay Aiken :D Julee - well you still need a big thumbs up for choosing a low fat icecream and not finishing it all, rather than eating a load of brownies etc. Sometimes nothing eases pain or stress etc like a nice bowl of icecream. Kayley - you are so determined to get your weight off, you are amazing. Good on you for not using the ride on mower today, I wonder how many calories you burnt off just making that one good choice? Thanks for the congrats on my weight loss last week, it's good to be back on track. Aaaagh you shouldn't have weighed again. I know you know it's all fluctuations etc, but it's still so disappointing. Come on now, stay off that scale until your weigh in. I don't even have an electronic scale now, so I could peak any time I want. But I put the scales in the wardrobe and I only get them out once a week to weigh. Sharon - where are you my friend, are you spending lots of times outdoors again with the boys? Alison - hey great to see you posting, I thought you had disappeared off the face of the Earth  Ok, going now to watch Dead Famous. Take care all and bye for now, Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Alison - I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet. I'm Kayley, 19 years old, and a college student...on South Beach! Looking forward to getting to know you. :)
Ammi - It's such a compulsion with me! The scale I use is at my boyfriend's house, so I don't get to use it everyday, which is good...but every time I go over there, I can't NOT get on it! lol...it's horrid. |
Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! Smooches and hugs to those who want 'em!
I have been doing okay. I'm down 2lbs (yay), exercise is going better, water is going better, etc. I'm getting back into the routine slowly but surely and I am fine with that. Things around the house haven't been so good, but we're managing. I'm beat, so I'm going to end this here. Have a lovely week! |
i will be glad to update you on how i feel they do tonight
|
