Oooh oooh ohh! Another NSV I am SO proud of today!

We had cupcakes at work, you know the bakery ones--chocolate w/like 2" thick frosting....mmmmm..... And I LOVE frosting. You can never have TOO much frosting.

Anyway, I've been saving my Flex Points for the weekend, as I do every week. I figured one cupcake was ok and I could use my Flex for it. So I got a cupcake and brought it back to my desk around 1:00pm. I was going to eat it before going to lunch at 1:45, but I decided to see just how long I could wait. Well, lunch FINALLY came w/that THING staring me in the face, I ate my Healthy Choice meal (Cheesy Potatoes w/Broccoli which btw is really good) and decided to eat the cupcake for dessert. I got back to my desk and decided to see how much LONGER I could wait. I chewed a piece of strong mint gum, knowing the full effect of the frosting would not withstand that minty taste in my mouth if I DID eat the cupcake, so I couldnt eat it then and fully enjoy it. I ended up standing a piece of folded paper on end and hiding the cupcake behind it. Outta sight, outta mind, right? I would just bring it home and have it for dessert tonight.

Well, 6:00 came and time to go home. I walked out the door and remembered I had left my long-awaited, precious, sugary friend inside! I turned for a moment to go back and thought "You've come this far, dummy--just KEEP WALKING!" So I did! That thing will be nasty when I come back to work on Monday and will be ready for the trash. Amy: 1 Cupcake: 0

I find that when I really want something that bad and finally give in it NEVER tastes as good as I thought it would. It had that nasty whipped frosting on top, anyway.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I fit right in this group. I have been heavy my whole life and it is so hard to loose. I've tried allot of diets that just don't work for me. The most disappointing one was slim fast, I lost but I gained it right back in no time at all. I'm just happy to know that I'm not the only one who is struggling with my weight. I love this site, this is the first one I have every seen for people like me, it's great to know that someone else has the same problems I have. I look forward to visiting again soon. Thanks for a wonderful site.

Ammi -- I would actually question the scale. Can you get on it every day and track the fluctuations? If it moves around a lot, it's not accurate. There is no way you gained 10 pounds in a week!

I think I know what you mean. I've been doing really well, but the past week I have started to feel like I just don't want to keep going anymore. I'm tired and feel like I'm in a rut. And I'm thinking, maybe I just want to stay at this weight... at least I'm better off than I was...

I've been making excuses not to exercise (at least now I know they're excuses), I've been hungry all week. I've only eaten a little more than I should, so I haven't really blown it at all, but it's the feeling of being out of control and wondering if I care anymore... I went out to eat yesterday and wondered if I'd just go ahead and order something really fattening... I ordered the salad, but I never had these thoughts before!

I feel like the bloom is off the rose and I'm losing a little of my resolve. I think I would feel better if I could go shopping in real stores, but I'm still a 20! I've lost 70 pounds and I'm still FAT!

I know this is all just head games, but it is very real at the moment. I'm hoping to just soldier on, and yesterday got in a good workout. I'm not giving up or anything, but I definitely do not feel as gung ho as I did!!

Wyllenn and Julee ~ I think we are all in that rut together. I have been SO lazy lately and don't have the energy to do anything! I am lucky on the days that I walk and stay on plan. I am in the mindframe, "if you can only maintain until the nice weather, you will succeed". I believe that of myself and have made that committment. Good luck girls!

btw, my NSV of the week. I have discovered that I have a WAIST! haha and yesterday after the shower, I was putting lotion on and I reached down to do my legs and I didn't have to "move" anything *L* SWEET!

Thank you gals! :-)

This place inspires me and fills me with hope. Thanks everyone for being here and for being so honest about your struggles and your victories. I am finally among people who get it on a personal level. I've been feeling so lonely for people who really, really get it. Thanks for being here!

Oh, yeah, I am glad. I don't have any blood family nearby. Through the years my friends have become my family. They are there when I need them and I do the same for them. I'm so incredibly blessed!

Thanks! And to top the beauty off with a bang, I measured myself last night. Since Feb 17 I've lost 7/8" around the waist and 1/2" around my hips. I hope I have your stamina for this process and continue on the right path.

For me, like you, this is not "looks driven" though I cannot wait to fit into smaller clothes only because the "fat" clothes out there have never really reflected my personality. For someone who currently wears a size 28, I'm looking forward to getting to a size 18/20. I will probably choose to maintain there for a while and then see how I feel. I have a large build and lots of muscle naturally (yeah, I know, how cool! huh?) so I would look sickly if I tried to weigh what the weight charts say I should for my height (5'8).

I have a friend who is about my height and has a medium build and she is sexy and pretty at a size 12. Since I'm broader than she is, that size would not work for me...I think. Then again, who knows? Right now I'm just focusing on being able to go hiking or dancing withouth pain in my knees!!!

Amen! Couldn't have said it better myself.

I am feeling better today. My friend and I talked and we straightened a few things out. I was so hurt, it was good that I vented here instead of approaching her from that place of anger.

I decided on Th. that I was going to celebrate my 20lb weight loss by going with my "brother-friend" to the hot tubs. We've got an appointment for 2:15 this afternoon. Just the two of us in a private, rustic hot tub room with a view of the sky and two chilled bottles of lime water. Then I may take myself out for a manicure and a pedicure...or come home and give myself a facial. Yummy!

But, before all that I need to work out. So, off to the bike I go.

Have a great day everyone! :-)
