300+ And Ready To Try Again...#847

WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

Motivational Monday
Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Luan - The first night is always a bit boring...getting all that grunt work out of the way. Well, I wish you luck with the class!!! :D

Garnetfairy - Welcome back! Glad you are going to hop back on! I was beginning to wonder if we'd lost you along the way!!!

Tracey - I love love love shoes! Call it a shoe fetish...but I love them.

Countess - :welcome3: to the 300+ threads!!!! Hope to see you around! :D

Lilion - Way to go!!! NSV's rock! :D

Sharon - Sorry you didn't have the best of holidays! Glad to see you back, though! :D

Nancy - Glad it's working so well...we were at Best Buy today, and I kept drooling over the MP3 players...lol. But I was good, and just bought a new workout dvd.

Catherine - ROME! That'd be absolutely fantastic!! Good luck! And I'm sorry you have to go through so much BS!

Had a fairly good day today. We skipped English class...:o But we went out for lunch. Had Chinese. Then, I got another workout dvd called "Crunch: Cardio Dance Blast". Going to give it a try tonight, and see how I like it. Andrew and I talked about things last night, and everything is better. It really is. He apologized, and told me that he knew what he said was wrong like RIGHT after he said it, but didn't know how to take it back....so we are good again. Did some more research about our trip in April, and we are also going to take the train out to Chicago on Sunday, so we can scope things out, and get some maps and such so we are prepared. We also decided that we are going to make a weekend out of it, and stay overnight, and then on that Sunday after the concert, we can go to Chinatown. :)

We had to watch "Hotel Rwanda" in Psychology today. Oh my, how very tragic and depressing. Most of us were crying, it was so horrible what happened. :(

Hi Everyone!

A few days away has left me feeling like there is SOOO much to catch up on--for now, Ijust wanted to say hello and let you all know I'm thinking of you. Will try to backtrack and get caught up.

I'm still in Orlando....but thought I'd give you a "halfway through vacation update" ---- you may remember how nervous I was about the rides at Disney World, and being freaked out about what would happen if the belt or safety bar wouldn't fit. wellll......... not ONCE have I had a problem!!!! :D Yeah! so relieved!! We hit Epcot (oh my gosh is MISSION: SPACE and Soarin' great!!!) and the Magic Kingdom... and all was fine. I rode on SO many rides and had a GREAT time. Still going to hit ANimal Kingdom and MGM Studios, and probably will go back to one of the others. I LOVE rides, and would have been soooo sad (not to mention embarrassed) if there would have been a problem.

Now food... that's another thing. Although I feel like under the circumstances and location, I've not done horribly, and at least I've been doing TONS of walking... but I have no illusions about the fact that I will need to readjust to the real world once I get back home. THe place we're staying is great and pretty large, so even yesterday when my friend was in her conference, I walked around the perimeter to get some exercise in, and today I did some swimming.

I know there has been a lot going on--I feel like I've been out of the loop here for weeks, not days! -- and I'll check in again a couple times if I can. Just know I'm sending you all good vibes!!!

:goodvibes

2LosinIt - So glad that you are having a great time, and that your weight isn't interfering! That's awesome!!! :D Enjoy the rest of your trip.

I tried my new dvd tonight, and it kicked my butt! In my opinion it's higher level cardio than my other one...although this one was a LOT of fun...challenging, but I managed to get through the warm up/cooldown, and two of the routines. :) Going to try again tomorrow to start off March with a bang!

garnetfairy 02-28-2006 07:32 PM

Well, it is official. The one pound I have lost and gained and lost and gained all month is officially rendered to nothing. I am at the exact same weight today as I was the first of February. So, all the mess ups resulted in gaining back the pound I lost at the beginning of February. So I am at ground zero for March, well not exactly, I still have the 20 pounds I lost in January so that is something. I did not gain any of them back, phew!!!

So as of today I have lost a total of 20 pounds this year, none this month. Back on program today except for an orange.

I hope everyone else ended the month with a loss or NSV. I did not even exercise today, I just got mom to take me to the gym to weigh in. She did not want to work out today, she wants to see her doctor tomorrow to find out what exercise he will let her do. She has high blood pressure and stuff.

All they have done this afternoon is yell at each other (mom and dad). I am so sick of hearing it. So right now, I have my mp3 around my neck and cranked up with Tina Turner and the Rolling Stones. Much better to the ears.

Well, I guess I will go read all the stuff I missed out on, if I can stay awake.

I hope all of you had a wonderful and successful month. My condolences to those of us who did not, let's try again in March.

kayleystar 02-28-2006 08:45 PM

Garnetfairy - Hey! Staying the same is DEFINATELY better than gaining. Especially when you go Off Plan!! :) Good luck restarting!

Countess 02-28-2006 09:01 PM

Hi Everyone! Thanks for the warm welcome, I'm really happy to have a place to post where I can fit in. I had a very busy day, I took my puppies to the new dog park and we ran around like crazy. A woman from the newspaper interviewed us, my puppies were the rockstars of the park because they are just so darn cute.

I had to go to the office tonight and there were 10 large pizzas from my most favorite place and I RESISTED!! Nine days back on SBD and 14 pounds gone, my cravings are gone and I'm remotivated...finally!!!

Thank you all for the support, it really does make a difference!!

Lilion 02-28-2006 09:02 PM

I did it!

Christine! (And Everyone Else!) It worked! It worked! I set a kitchen timer for five minutes - covered up the darn display on the eliptical and did the whole five! :carrot:

It doesn't sound like much when you say it out loud...but it felt like it! AND I did the five minutes AFTER I finished a mile walk with puppies in tow...or they towed me more like, so I feel even more accomplished. Lordy that thing is awkward! I think I'm stuck at 5 for a few days...then I'll try upping the time a bit.

But I had to report that I managed the 5! Quite proud at the moment! :D

Countess: What kind of puppies? I love my puppies! They are boston terriers...there's photos on the picture thread, toward the end of the thread! OH! and GOOD NSV! :bravo:

kayleystar 02-28-2006 09:35 PM

Woo hoo, Chrisine!!! I always find myself looking at the clock/timer as well...UGH. Sometimes I wish they didn't have them!

I'm going to go on over to Andrew's house, and I'm going to take a pic with my falls in, and you can all see my weirdness. LOL

MsCrockett 02-28-2006 09:46 PM

Hello all, Well I changed my pic as well,,,, doubt it lasts for long, but here it is for now.

brandnewme 02-28-2006 09:50 PM

Hi ladies. I'm so far behind in posting that it's not even funny. Sorry! This place can be hard to keep up with on a relatively slow day, so when it's really booming, I forget what I wanted to say by the time I'm done reading what everyone's posted.

Congrats to all those who have lost or maintained, and those who keep trying despite obstacles.

For all those who aren't feeling well or are just having a hard time in general, please know my thoughts are with you, and I wish you the best of health and luck!

Welcome to all the new ladies! I hope you'll find this place as inspirational and wonderful as the rest of us have.

I'm having a down day. I weighed in (early, granted, but not by much) and let's just say the scale is NOT my friend. I know most of it is water weight, and I'll manage to get rid of it again, but it just frustrates me. It's my own fault and I accept that. Now, I just have to start exercising and doing what I need to do.

Countess 02-28-2006 10:06 PM

Lilion, my puppies are black labs, they are 12 weeks old, they were abandoned (dumped) at 4 weeks old and my hubby found them and brought them home.

MsCrockett 02-28-2006 10:10 PM

ohhhhhhhhhh black labs are my favorite,,could you mail me one please,, UPS perhaps..lol

Countess 02-28-2006 10:53 PM

MsCrockett ~ everyone wants them, the people in my office, the people at his office, even the garbage men tried to buy them the other day. Today we went to the vet, my husband was carrying one and I was carrying the other and this woman said "You don't have TWO OF THEM!! THAT IS SO UNFAIR that you get to keep all that cuteness to yourselves"

CatherineM 02-28-2006 11:18 PM

Well ladies, I did Mardi Gras up royally. We went out for the slimmest burger that I have had in years (actually the only burger I’ve had in several years). We even had slices of mango pie. I don’t feel guilty, I can’t remember the last time I “cheated.” I am going to try to hit Lent very hard to jump start me towards trying to get a routine I can live with. It is snowing here. The snow is so dry here that I can’t actually make a snow man, but I very much enjoyed walking in it to the café around the corner. I’m going to go to bed early, and start fresh in the morning.
