I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.
If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.
Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.
There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!
Jill - NICE BUY! Glad you were able to convince Jeff to splurge! When he sees you on Valentine's Day, I'm sure it'll "make up" for it!
Sharon - Even a one pound loss is great! That's one less extra nasty pound you have to lug around!!! I'll send you a PM tonight when I get back home from class! Thanks so much.
Wyllenn - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope your day is GREAT! Don't splurge TOO much now! :P
Crockett - When Andrew and I turned on the TV this morning and saw that the Steelers won, I thought of you...cuz I knew they were your team, and was like "I'll bet she's happy!"
Lilion - You would think that as much as doctors say, "lose the weight", and everything, that when someone DOES lose the weight, they'd COMMEND THEM! LOL, Lilion! Sounds like you got a good one, too I think I might have a couple pairs of jeans that I could add into the mix...not much, but a start...I haven't worn them in a long time, as they are bootcut, and I'm not a fan of that style anymore. I'll have to go through everything when I clean up my room and such.
Ammi - What is salsasize?!? Something I haven't heard of! I think that the digital cameras lie, too At least that's what I told myself when I RAN to the bathroom to make sure I didn't look THAT terrible. Sorta worked, sorta didn't...heh.
Well, I'm off! Have to go and get the results of my TB test, and then it's off to another tedius class this evening. I really really don't wanna go! Hope you chicks have a good afternoon!
Wow, am I glad the boards went down for a while this weekend, cause if this is "low posting", I would be SO lost by now! LOL
I havent been here in about 4 days I think, due to hubby leaving this morning for his month in FL, and also the tax return came in on Friday, so we spent all weekend shopping LOL
Hubby got himself a laptop, so now he isnt so worried about being bored in FL...and now he can't say a word about how much my puppy is going to cost, cause the laptop was almost as much!
I have lost I think 4 pounds now, but I am not sure, I have to go read my chart. I have been exercising, and eating less, and TOM just ended so things should be getting better every day now
The only real obsticle I have coming is Girl Scout Cookies. I am a troop leader, and the "cookie mom" as well. On Friday I will be picking up 110 CASES of Girl Scout cookies and storing them in my HOUSE until they all get delivered. I also have to keep a "stock" of them so if my girls sell more, they can get them, and we have to do a booth sale at a store too. For anyone that doesnt know, and would like to....the Lemon Coolers and the Tag A Longs (the chocolate covered peanut butter ones) are TRANS FAT FREE this year Also, anyone that might want some who didnt get a chance to order any, PM me....I will ship
Grats on all the losses and great choices made. You are all reason enough to carry on with this weightloss journey, as I have "friends" to share with, cheer on, and enjoy in this journey! Its amazing to me how great I feel here. Finding a group of ladies as wonderful as you all, in the same position I am, has made all the difference in the world. I always felt like I was the only one, ya know? You all accept each other, even at the size we are...which makes it easier to say "they love me now, they will love me then"...and that makes it all worth it
Just a quick response, before I am out the door till 7pm or so,
Kayley, Yes I am extatic over by boys winning, I started the diet today.. gonna go ahead and go shopping after school, found out there is really nothing here that I can cook with,, need that canola..lol.......
everybody else, good luck with the week, and spatting at the Aunts, I have one that, deed, sometimes????(daydreaming of evil thoughts .lol) hang in there.
Felicia - That's the spirit! Don't let the Aunt keep you down! lol...Congrats on your loss! That's phenomenal!!!
Heather - Don't taunt me with the cookies! lol Great job on your loss! Your hubby is going to come home, and the look on his face will be worth it all!!!
Crock - Did you find a bunch of good recipes for the diet?
Well, I'm in the lab here at school. Andrew's off on his first day at the new job. I hope it all goes alright. I have to write a practice cover letter for my class this evening...starts in like 2 hours. I had a week to write it, but I decided to put it off of course. I'll just have to B.S. it! Found out that I didn't get the job working here in the office at school. I was so confident about it, and that just felt like a kick in the face. Now I have to look for SOMETHING that will work around my schedule...cuz I need another job, since the nursing home gives me so few hours. Well, I'm going to try and pull together a decent-looking cover letter, and then I'll be back!
Has anyone tried any of the Watkins products lately? I never gave them much of a thought other then remembering my Mom putting red salve on every little cut & scrap when I was a kid. They had some dip seasonings to sample at the Women's Expo I went to that were so good. I didn't want to buy them without having a chance to really look over the ingrediants & nutritional info- but so far I'm impressed with low calories and sodium levels, even in my favorite Bacon & Cheddar. According to the instructions, you can mix them with regular, low fat or nonfat sour cream, pureed cottage cheese or plain yogurt for dip or thin with buttermilk for salad dressing...or add them to cream cheese for a spread. I think I'm going to end up getting at least 3 different ones to start...I kind of wish I would have just bought them on impulse now- lol Does anyone know of any other kind of dip mix like these that are low sodium? I hate when you check and one unrealisticly small serving has 60% of the recommended sodium for the day- GRRR!!! if I want salt, I'll add it- thank you very much
On that whole doctors attitude towards weight/weight loss issue, I get so frustrated sometimes. Its like they lecture you to lose weight, lecture you more when you gain- yet if you lose, so many of them can't even acknowledge it. I know we're all losing weight for ourselves and we shouldn't depend on others to motivate us- but darnit, sometimes a little praise would be nice to hear. And why is if you do lose a little weight, they tend to attribute it to 'water weight' or minimize it some other way by pointing out how much more you have to lose or something equally as stupid. Yet if you gain weight- even over a very short period of time- they act like you're making excuses if you say you're retaining water? Even my current doctor, who is pretty good (I've only been seeing her a few months), wanted me to admitt I had gained 'real weight' when the scales went up 20+ pounds in a month when I saw her in January. I had just seen her a little less then a month before and its pretty hard to gain that much weight that quickly without trying. She did come around somewhat when I stressed that it wasn't even over the full month' but that the water weight came on over the previous 10-14 days only. She still acted like she was convinced that 75% was 'real weight' and the remaining 25% might possible be 'water retention'; but at least she did have samples of my allergy med (Singulair) that I had went off because of problems with the new Medicare prescription coverage about the time the I started retaining all the water....and I even pointed out to her that originally I had started noticing less water retention in the fall, which is when I had started on Singulair to begin with. The scales went back down almost as quickly as the went up- and actually a couple pounds lower since I had actually lost 'real weight' in the weeks I was dealing with the 'water weight' issue becuase I had continued to work on my healthy life style changes. Pretty clear in my eyes what happened, but I'm almost tempted to stop in the office and have the nurse weigh me just to document how fast it came off even though its been a couple weeks now.
What we need are more doctors like my vet. I had just got my newly adopted dog from the pound and had her previous vet records from her old owners. Her old vet felt she should be put on a diet- that she should weigh 40 pounds max...she weighed just over 50# that day My vet, who is also overweight, said who are either of us to tell her what she should weigh and that as long as I was feeding her reasonable amounts and her weight stayed stable, not to worry. Now, come on- she's a German Sheppard, Chow, Boxer, Lab and who knows what else mix...none of those are small dogs, so were her old vet got 40# from, I'm not sure- plus it seems like she can shedd 10# of hair a week, every single week too. I just know I wouldn't want her old vet setting a target weight for me ...and I wanted to kiss my vet, but he's pretty old for me & his wife might have gotten upset
Quick fly by (I shouldn't be here - I should be working!) I'll just call it my afternoon coffee break.
Heather - oh evil temptress with the Girl Scout cookies Actually, we have had some GS cookies for several months now and I have amazingly not been eating them. Except for the tagalongs of course - those went a little too quickly.
Kayley - That sucks about the job, but if you didn't get it, that means it wasn't the right place for you. Hopefully somethign even better will come along.
Christine - There is a really cool movie about a salesman for Watkins products called "Door to Door". I had never heard of the company before seeing it. It sounds like you have a very cool vet. Too bad there aren't more like him.
I had a delicous tea tonight, home made cauliflower cheese with a jacket potato. It was so filling and only 9 points. I love when I find a filling meal that is tasty and low in points.
Kayley - salsasize is an exercise DVD where they combine exersise with salsa dancing. It's low impact, fun, and it works off the calories, so I love doing it. Some other people do a more full on work out, but I am happy with the DVD I have got. It works for me.
Oh Kayley I am so sorry you didn't get that office job especially as you felt confident about it. I hope something else that fits your schedule will come along soon. I also hope that Andrew will be ok in his first day at work.
Christine - sorry I have never heard of those Watkins products, must be a US thing.
Jill - wish there was a wolf whistling smiley on here I would be putting it here now in relation to that gorgeous bit of lingerie you are getting. What a bargain too. I hope you and Jeff have fun on Valentines night with your wearing it.
Heather - good luck with having all those cookies in your house, I hope you manage not to tuck in
That's great that hubby has bought a lap top PC, now he can keep in touch with you more often. How much is your puppy going to cost if it's MORE than a lap top PC??
Well done on the 4 lbs lost that is great news. It's wonderful to see those lbs coming down isn't it. How much do you hope to lose while hubby is away?
Felicia - congrats on another 2 lbs down 30 lbs in one month is amazing, you rock Do you think it's all the exercising you are doing, or has the diet got a lot to do with it too!
Ok well I better make a move, I hope everybody is keeping well,
Felicia - I am glad to hear you liked the JMS Yoga - I just bought it and haven't had a chance to use it yet. I meant to yesterday and then ended up being in a bit of a funk last night.
Ammi - your dinner sounds good. Can you come cook for me tonight? LOL I SO don't feel like cooking tonight. I really need to start doing a bit more planning on the weekend.
Felicia - that is fantastic that you can already fit on the Gazelle rider, ok you can't move your legs yet, but your body size is so obviously going down It won't be long until you can add that bit of exercise equipment along with all the other stuff in your home gym!!
Nancy - if I lived closer I would be there like a shot to cook for you. It's such a simple meal to cook and it warms the house lol. It's bitterly cold here.
Crock - glad to have chatted earlier, hope we get to talk some more later.
Sharon (neurotica) - haven't heard from you in ages, are you ok?
Wyllen - have you had a good birthday?
I am about to watch a tv show now about a half a tonne weight man. Has anybody else seen it?
Thank you all for your encouragement on the disappointing reading on the new scales. I keep telling myself that I have still lost the same amount of weight, but I just want to get those scales moving down again. I suppose I won’t kick myself too much as long as they don’t creep up too much either, with TOM being close.
Wyllen – Happy Birthday!! I hope you had a wonderful day, doing exactly what you felt like.
Sharon – I have been having weeks like you seem to be having. I have been working out SO well and eating well, but on my TOM weeks I gain a little weight, then it takes FOREVER to lose that and some more. I figure that I have to cut back on my calories a little more, but I LOVE my food and am mostly living on fruit and veg. Oh well… good luck to both of us for future weigh-ins.
Happy birthday for Wednesday, just in case I miss it. Are you planning on doing anything exciting?
Lilion – Good luck at the dentist. I am SO bad about keeping appointments with dentists. I am due to have a clean and just can’t bring myself to book in. Last year I had to have a couple of crowns done and a thorough clean, as I hadn’t been for a LONG time. I know I have to keep it up, but I just don’t like dentists. I also really can’t afford to go at the moment, but I will book within the month. I think…
Kayley – I was really hoping that the other doctor was just one you were sent to for the physical. Is your regular doctor more supportive? I hope so. You really seem to be in the right frame of mind at the moment about your progress. That is wonderful to see.
Ammi – You may be on the right track with getting up earlier to fit in the exercise. I was being a little lazy on the weekends and not exercising in the mornings, hoping to fit in enough walking during the day. It wasn’t really the same though, so I have decided that I don’t really need to sleep in as much on the weekends and I am feeling much better about that. I still get to sleep in half an hour or so more than work days, so that is still a bit of a novelty. Good luck with trying to get a workout in before the kids get up though. I must admit that this has all been easier with just myself and DH to consider.
You are right about the scales. This set seems as though they are accurate and a good enough set, so I am hoping this will be it for now. The other two sets I have are good, but I wanted to progress from analogue (if that’s what you call the old set) to digital, and then I wanted a set to read the body fat %. I think I am set now. I don’t think there is much more they can do to develop scales.
Heather – Good luck on resisting the temptation of the cookies. I know that I had to remove temptation from the house for the first 6 months of my journey into a new lifestyle. I was hopeless if something was around. It seemed to ‘call’ me from the pantry or wherever. I’m fine now, and hubby is able to have some treats available, but he doesn’t even seem to want them now, which is great. I must admit that the healthier cookies do still sound VERY tempting, but I will try not to see if we have them available over here.
Felicia – Congrats on the loss and WELL DONE on your battle with Aunty Flo! She needs a good swift kick now and then. I think you are sending her to visit me soon, and I hope I can defeat her as well as you have done, or my poor little chickadees at school could suffer. I’m not sure they would understand if I tried explaining PMS to them. Seven year olds have such a little grasp of such things.
Christine – You should go in and show the doc that you may have had SOME idea of what you were talking about. It never ceases to amaze me that, as you say, they tell you to lose weight, but then pay more attention to the gains than the losses. Perhaps they need to add an extra course at med college to cover this. Oh, and that dip stuff you are talking about sounds delicious, and pretty versatile. I am like you and would love it if products contained a LOT less salt. We don’t add salt to anything at home and would love less salt in packaged goods.
Well, that's about it for me. I'm cheating and fitting this in before I head off to school. Gotta rush now!
I think I am set now. I don’t think there is much more they can do to develop scales.
I was just checking into new scales on line and I found one that had a remote unit so they could display the outside temperature. What else can they...hmmm, maybe a reminder to take out the garbage? change the oil? see the dentist My biggest problem is electronic scales that turn on too easily...my fluffy HoneyDew cat likes to sit on them all day long- and when they say they have a life time battery I'm pretty sure they didn't plan on her weighing herself 50 times a day. I hate having to set it up because about the only place I can put is standing on its side between sink cabinet and plastic organizer I have.
I really wish I could find more low sodium stuff in the regular grocery stores too. I think that is one reason I'm actually thinking about ordering those dip mixes- one servering/teaspoon has 4% of the RDA for sodium, which is about what a cup of milk has. Here in the states there is a product that is marketed as popcorn seasoning, but you can use for lots of other things too- that is fairly low sodium & low calorie called Kernel Season's. I've tried White Cheddar & Ranch- so far the the White Cheddar is my favorite on popcorn. I saw it advertised in a Weight Watchers magazine or I never would have tried. They have something like 10 different flavors...I'm not too sure how chocolate marshmellow would taste on popcorn, but I bet it would be good on other things. For you gals in the midwest, I know Meijer carries it & for everyone else, some WalMart Supercenters are suppose to have it too- otherwise if you go to their we site you can check who carries it in your area....it even looks like some movie theaters have it too- I haven't been in so long that I wouldn't know-lol
Nancy - Good for you...staying away from the EVILS of G.S. cookies! I sure hope something comes along, too...I definately need the cash!
Ammi- Salsasize sounds fun! Is it easy to learn, or do you have to know the basics to do it?
Zelma - Well, I haven't been to my family doctor since I had insurance...back in November, and that was before I started my weight loss journey. Although, he is really nice, and very supportive, so I can't wait to drop a bunch of weight, and then go back in for a check-up!!
If anyone happens to have the link for Felicia's blog, could you send it to me? I really wanted to keep in touch with her...I'm sad that someone reported her!
