300+ And Ready to Try Again...#818
WELCOME !!!
We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs. We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears. We share what works for us and what doesn't. We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion. Motivational Monday Tuesday Tips Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it. Thankful Thursday FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight. Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity Share your Success Sunday These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out. We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us. WELCOME! I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out. If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site. Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker. There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!! |
Hi ladies. Can't stay - I should already be in bed. In addition to being very sick the last two weeks, I had my biopsy done today. I'm hurting and feeling pretty blah, but it's over with. I did, however, have a very significant victory today. The very first scale I weighed on when I started my journey happened to be the scale I weighed on today. I'm down to 302lbs. Yay!
Must crash. Best wishes for everyone. Congrats to the losers and movers, hello to the new people, and hopefully I will be back in the swing of things very soon. |
2LosinIt - I know I welcomed you on the other thread, but I just wanted to say :welcome3: to the forum!! I know you will find it to be a huge source of inspiration! It definately has for me! That's great that your housemate is going to be doing Weight Watchers with you! Then, you won't have to see any tempting treats around the house! Before I came to this forum, I would have never told ANYONE (aside from my Mom and my boyfriend) how much I weigh. Especially since it was 350! But since I've lost 33 pounds, I'm pretty much okay with telling people...because yeah, I'm still at 317, but that's a lot better than what I was at! And they can't say I'm not trying, because I AM! :) You'll learn your way around here quickly! I've only been here two months, and this is like a second home to me! Everyone is so great, and there's just NO negativity in here, which I LOVE! 100 oz of water a day! That's quite a bit! I'd be running to the bathroom every hour! hehe...I'm still drinking diet pop, and I know I should cut out pop altogether. But once I'm at 299, I'm going to cut it down to one can a day. Right now the Diet Dr. Pepper tricks my body into thinking it's having sugar, so I don't have the cravings.
Julee - You must have felt on top of the world when they didn't even recognize you! That's so fantastic, and I can't WAIT for that day to come with me!!! Honiangel - I hope that not having a kid around in the mornings helps you COMPLETELY go past the goal that you set for yourself! Then, you won't feel as bad when you can't do AS MUCH when she comes back. CARBS ARE BAD!!! BUT OH SO DELICIOUS!!! Brandnewme - I'm glad you came through your procedure without a hitch, but I'm sorry you are feeling so lousy:( CONGRATS on your loss! You must be so ecstatic! Keep at it, girl!!! Well, I hope you ladies all have a great night! I'm off to bed, as I have to be up in 6 hours for class. My friend's not going to be there tomorrow, as she got a subpoena to go to court in her friend's case...since she posted bond for her, for some reason she has to be there. She's going through a lot of stress, too. She's older than I am (29), and is married with two kids...so going to classes full time, and taking care of the house is just nuts. She also just got rid of ovarian cancer before it spread, so it's been a **** of a last 6 months for her. And her brother is now in the hospital, because his girlfriend attacked him with a knife. I swear, it never ends for her :( Well, I'm off to bed, as I said before my little ramble!! NIGHT! |
Make Exercise a Habit!
Hi all! I can't even pretend to keep up with you chatterboxes. I think I'm 2 threads behind, but fading fast (getting a cold!). So, before I go to bed, I just want to encourage everyone to join us on the February Exercise Thread! We are trying to make exercise a habit, so we're setting individual goals (in MINUTES exercise) and tracking progress. It can be any exercise you like -- again, the goal is to make it a habit. I am doing cardio and now weights, and have decided to also count up to 30 min a week of my back exercises (my PT would be happy!)
We're also keeping track of the number of minutes we exercise as a group -- I think we are going to come close to 150 HOURS of exercise (9000 minutes) as a group this month. I personally have found the accountability to really help me!! Hope to see you there! |
2LosinIt - A huge welcome! I get a little behind (wish I HAD a little behind) on my posts since I pop in and out when I'm traveling, but I'm home for a few days and always glad to see new friends on the thread!
Julee - On your cousin not recognizing you, WAY cool!! My relatives didn't say a word at Christmas, so I'm hoping SOMEone notices at Easter. Either way, *I* know I"m doing good, but jeepers - That just had to be a great moment for you! BrandNewMe - FANTASTIC!! Down 54 pounds and just a snick away from breaking the "00"! You are SO on your way!!! Congratulations!! Kayley - I haven't checked out your pics yet. I just think of you as looking like your avatar. That's the you I see. A very big Way!2!Go! on that 33 pounds down! Isn't your confidence level just totally different when you know that you're succeeding and doing something for yourself? I NEVER let my husband know my weight until I reached about the point you're at. I was afraid to be seen walking for exercise because I was so ashamed of myself. Now I don't care what people think because I'm so proud of the progress I've made and the progress I know I'm going to continue making. We are ON a ROLL! Wyllenn - I'm with you on next months goal - Your so right - The accountability has pushed me to do more than I might have otherwise. I'm reaching a point where I just can't bear to NOT exercise for too long. This just keeps getting better. As of tonight I've started taking - now don't you laugh - kung fu lessons. We'll see how far it goes, but at least it's beneficial to physical, mental and spiritual health, so I'll give 'er a go! Night-Night all!! Beauty rest is VItal in this house! <BG> |
Wyllenn - Thanks for posting the February exercise thread! I hopped right on the bandwagon, so to speak!
Valerie - Well, I would look like my avatar pic if I weighed about 120! I have longish black hair, and I'm pretty pale (although not quite as pale as that girl!) It's crazy how much more confidence I've gotten over the last month. I was the same way...I didn't want to go out walking (at least not anywhere that anyone could see me), as I was so ashamed at how I looked. Now, I'm not caring as much (most days...heh), as I KNOW I'm making my life better, and I've changed as a person SO MUCH over the last two months! 18 more pounds until I see those 2's...that's going to be crazy! I haven't seen them since I was like in 8th grade as bad as that is! We're doing so great, and it SHOWS! I know I said I was going to go to bed, but the threads SUCK ME IN!!! lol...I'm really going now!:o NIGHT CHICKIES! |
Darn these threads! They multiply like dancing carrots! :carrot:
I had a really good day today. It was the first day of my new job and things went well. This job will be *very* supportive of my diet. The break room is posh with more than enough fridges and microwaves so I won't have a problem bringing my food (although I'm trying a different fridge tomorrow because today's froze my salad :moo: They don't have a problem with minor eating at my desk, so I don't have to waste half my break getting to the break room to eat a yogurt or some crackers. I need to get a big plastic water cup with a straw. I tend to drink more when I have a straw versus a big water bottle. It will save money too if I drink water out of the fountain. And the best news today? I had my first "wow I am really losing weight" experience. I can never judge weight loss in my belly and hips because it seems my underwear and pants constantly fluctuate from fitting to feeling loose. But today I wore a shirt I haven't worn in about a month and it FIT for the first time! It's made out of a stretchy thick polyester spandex and it has been snug across the belly to the point of slightly stretching since I bought it. Well today it was LOOSE by at least an inch. Wow. I just did my measurements too and there's only about an inch down so I should see THAT much results. Maybe I measured wrong. *shrugs* I enjoyed this moment all day and every time I looked in the mirror. I was mad at myself briefly because I was a little sad that I won't get to wear this shirt until it wears out (it would be too impractical to keep refitting it) because I love the fit and color. I have to keep telling myself that I don't want to be the size that gets to keep wearing that shirt! I want it to fit two of me inside! Maybe I can make 2 shirts out of it someday! ;) My one change this week will be 1 thirty minute exercise session outside of my daily 5,000 step pedometer goal, which I haven't achieved enough to move to 6,000 steps yet. My DDR game is now fixed (it was scratched) so I don't have that excuse anymore. I'm too wiped tonight and I probably will be all week because of the sleeping schedule adjustment, but I will fit 1 in. I can do at least that much. My meeting/WI is tomorrow - send me your losing vibes! |
I'm feeling a bit better, or less overwhelmed. For the last 4 years and 2 months getting my body back into shape was my full time job. Now I've got a husband and house to take care of too. I'm really lucky that he wants to only eat the healthy stuff I fix. If something doesn't look like it is low calorie, he actually double checks with me. He used to go all day without eating until dinner, and can't understand how you can lose weight while seeming to eat all day long. I wish things would settle down so that I could get into a routine of going to the gym again. I'm afraid I'm not getting enough exercise. We don't own a car, so I am walking so much more than I used to. Canada is not as handicap accessible as Florida was, so I take a lot more steps than I am used to. Just going down to the basement to do laundry is new. We didn't have many basements in Florida, they would have just been indoor swimming pools. I come in and collapse in bed before 8pm sometimes, but still don't feel like that is really getting exercise unless it is exhaustion from the gym. Tomorrow I'm going with a friend of my husband's to a case sale at a grocery store. We are going to pack the pantry. I know that if it turns much colder, that he won't let me walk the two blocks to our regular grocery store. He insists on holding my hand just going down the street because he is afraid I will slip on the ice. We probably look as silly as when big football players hold hands in the huddle. If I get stuck in the house, we do have a weight bench, huge exercise bike, and two karate dummies for me to get exercise on. Stepping out of my comfort zone has been so scary, but in the long run, it will be so good for me.

 Hi Chickies,
It has been about a week since :comp: I last posted and wowie zowie the threads are flying by. I can't attempt to catch up now but just a couple of responses from this tread. Brandnewme: Feel better  soon. Congrats on your :hat: loss. I am so happy for you that you are only 2 lbs away from your :carrot: first mini goal. Excellent. Wylenn: Thank:thanks: you so much for faithfully :ebike: starting the exercise threads and sticking to it and coming in to remind us to join. I am so thankful for you. I will be joining in Feb and doing a better job :tread: then my Jan goal. I have been so darn sick this month but, I am feeling stronger :wl: daily now. Valerie: Glad to see you made it back :bike: home safe and sound. Hope you rest :beach: well tonight. 2loosinit: Welcome. :wel3fc: I think you will love this tread. I have been here since last April and everyone is so kind and supportive. Jimoreta: Congrats on your new job and on your shirt fitting :bravo: you better. I have sooooo many clothes that fit me well, fit on me but they don't fit. They look horible  and I can't wait to fit into them again. That is awesome that you had that experience. Keep up the great work. Catherine: My lovely friend. Please try not to get down. Marriage no matter how much you love your man is very hard. To give up all of the freedom and just the way that you had your routine is very hard. It takes time and I'm sure that your sweetie pie will be patient and allow you to slowly get into the grove. I am so happy for you that things are  working out so well. I'm with your hubby, do be careful on the ice. It is so slippery. I know what you mean about the football players in a huddle. I am my huge :sumo: size and my hubby is normal sized and when we take snow walks and he thinks he can hold my hand to help me in case I slip.... lol. I would :sp: crush him like a bug. Well all, good night and have a great op :D day tomorrow. Blessings, Dogpal |
WOW! so much is going on here! welcome to all the new people. hello to all the old people.
so this week was a little wierd. i was totally off point on friday, eating like double what i was supposed to. but i forgive myself, and im back OP now. im sure i will pay for it on wednesday when i weigh in. it will definately be a reality check. theres too much to reply to all of you, but thanks for being a constant source of encouragement. your stories are all amazing. night all! |
Jjmoreta - So glad that your first day at your new job went well...that can be a very stressful thing, starting all over at a new place. Glad it's going to allow you to keep OP easier as well! CONGRATS on your non-scale victory!! That's fantastic news, as it's so hard to judge your own weight-loss, despite what the scale says...(in my opinion anyways!) And once you get down to where you want to be, so many more shirts will look GREAT on you, that you won't "mind" having to give up that ONE! :D
Catherine - It's very nice that you are able to WALK to the grocery store, and the likes. Now, if the weather will just WARM UP, so you can ENJOY IT! It has to be so tough moving from a climate like that of Florida, and BAM! CANADA!! lol. I think it's so sweet that your hubby is so concerned. He sounds like a FANTASTIC guy, and I'm so glad that you found someone to make you happy, and you sound like you are just loving being a wife! :) Dogpal - So great to see you posting! Great enthusiasm! Even if you didn't make your January goal, at least you exercised, right?!?! And re-dedicating for even MORE minutes in February is GREAT!! :) Luan - You are so great about hopping back OP when you stray! I tend to just give up! Luckily, I haven't gone OP yet... So TIRED this morning! I only got about 4 hours of sleep in, as I was the insomniac for another night! I was going to work out this morning a little, but I have absolutey NO energy/motivation, or anything! But I WILL work out this evening when I get home. No excuses! Off to take my vitamins, cook me some breakfast, and hop in the shower, as classes start in about an hour and a half! |
Kayley, Val and Dogpal -- I need to thank you guys (and everyone who posts on the exercise thread), because you all keep ME going too! I am starting to feel like this exercise stuff is becoming habit, but I have a tough week ahead.
Ammi -- I have been reading about your increased exercise and all your eating successes and you sound like your head is in the right place, if you know what I mean! It sounds like you are doing the things you need to AND feeling better Catherine -- I hate hate hate transitions. It is so hard to get re-settled. Not only have you gotten married -- you've moved to a much colder area AND another country. It's all going to take some getting used to, and it IS stressful! I enjoyed my conference in California. My hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the conference center, and that helped me keep on track, exercise wise. I did eat more than I normally do, but made better choices than I would have before. I ended up eating a number of oatmeal raisin cookies, however, which of course ended up being high in calories! Ah well. Still posted a loss this week. I have now lost just over 60 pounds and 20% of my starting weight!!!!!! |
Hi Chickies!
Boy! You ladies keep this thread hoppin! 2LosinIt: :welcome2: These are a great bunch of ladies - full of inspiration! I'm doing WW on my own too. Last Feb. my DH and I just looked at each other one day (after having discovered we both gained weight, again!) and said, "This has to stop." That day I got out my old 1-2-3 Success stuff from the 90's and we started counting points. We've never been to a meeting, although I know some people swear by going. I think having him along for the ride and these ladies here have made all the difference. Catherine! Sounds like you are getting there! Marrying later in life is certianly more disorienting, you get so set in your ways and it can be difficult to change your routine. I'm so very glad that your DH is supportive of your weight loss and working on his own! As for the hand-holding, my DH still holds my hand, almost 6 years of marriage later. I hope yours never stops! Someone was talking low-carb/Atkins type diets on the last thread. I know they are supposed to work, but I really can't imagine living with them. WW tends to be pretty high carb and once, the longest I ever kept weight off, I was on a Dr supervised diet and the first thing I was told to do was TRIPLE my carb intake! I lost 40+ and kept it off for over a year, before I went back to junk food that time. Goes to show how different people are. Well ladies, I really wanted to respond to more people, but you guys are too fast for me! If I missed any other newbies - Welcome! Congrats to the losers! You guys ROCK! And for those struggling - Hang in there! |
Good Morning all my lovely losing friends! Can't stay on long as I'm at work. I wish I could post to each and everyone of you but I just don't have the time right now. Just remember that everyone is always on my mind and I think of you often. Hurrah for all those who lost!! Yippeee for those who are doing great with their exercises!!! A big hearty :welcome: to those who have found their home here. You'll love it!
I made it through the weekend without doing too much damage. I always am worried once the weekend comes around. Skipped my workout yesterday because 1) I had an appointment with my shrink and 2) My dog had surgery yesterday and was hurting pretty bad last night, even with the Morphine they gave her. Poor baby! Left my lunch at home yesterday but luckily I had some food (good stuff too) stashed in my desk. Whew! Have a great Tuesday everyone! :grouphug: I'll try to get online during my lunch break to do a more personal/one on one post. Hugs, Sarah |
Wyllenn - Fantastic that it's starting to feel like a habit! I hope it becomes like that for me as well. What a great one to have! :D Congrats on your loss, and to showing a loss despite slipping a little OP! You're doing great!
Lilion - A low carb diet can be pretty rough to live with. I really like the South Beach approach, because in Phase 3, you are allowed to have a lot of freedom (for the most part). And you are able to maintain. Once I'm where I want to be, and maintain for a year, I'll probably just WATCH what I eat, and definately keep up with the exercise. I haven't decided as of yet, if I'll be on South Beach for the rest of my life...I'm only 19! lol Sarah - Enjoy work....if that's possible! lol I have about 2 1/2 hours until my Psychology class starts, so I'm just down here at the computer lab TRYING to pass the time. I left my book for Spreadsheets at home (it's self-taught), so I don't have that to help me out! I'll be lurking about! hehe |
I have about an hour still before class starts, but my eyes are starting to go all fuzzy on me, and I keep wanting to fall asleep here at the computer, so I'm going to get up, walk around, and go get something to drink before class starts! Hope you chicks have a great day!

Hello All,
Oh my gosh, I haven't been on here for 2 days and I have missed so many post, and a whole thread too. I am sorry but there is no way I am going to be able to reply personally to everybody. I want to :welcome: 2loseinit - you have come to the right place for friendship and support. I love the people here, you really know that we all know how you feel, how hard the diet struggle can be etc. I hope you will post often. Doinvinnie - :welcome2: to you as well. I noticed it was your second post here. I hope you will post more and tell us about yourself. Tasha - thank you for your honesty, both over eating the icecream, and the awful thought you had about making yourself bring it back up. I am so glad you were sensible enough to realise that doing that isn't an answer. I say slap your man on the wrist for putting that temptation in your path anyway lol :D Catherine - you are a strong woman, I am sure it won't be long before you get everything sorted, and get back into a routine where you feel in control again  Heather - it was me who asked what you hubby does in the Navy, thanks for the answer. Sounds like a great job and I am glad while he is away you can keep in touch via email. Christine - congrats on the water weight all being gone, and losing some real weight too :carrot: All that exercising and sore legs is paying off. Jill - good for you for re-dedicating yourself to your diet. You have lost the weight before, you will do it again. Keep focusing on your goal, I am sure you can do it! Felicia - The one thing I am going to do extra from today to give my diet it's umph is to exercise daily instead of every other day. Great motivating question, thanks. Valerie - your 7 lbs lost is brilliant especially as you have been on the road so much. Well done :carrot: :cheer: Brenda - am glad to hear that the funeral went alright and that hubby got to say his goodbyes to his gran. Garnetfairy - glad you had a good birthday and that you didn't pig out :carrot: Kayley - loved your photos, nothing horrific there!! You are so pretty, don't run yourself down just because of your size. We are more than how fat we are  To everybody who has gained any weight, don't worry, you will lose it again. For all the 'losers' :carrot: brilliant news. To everybody I didn't get to reply to personally, I did read all your posts, it's good to keep up with everybody's news. I didn't see any post from Velma- I hope you are ok. Take care all, and bye for now, Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Hi everyone~~
I am having a good day and feel good about myself right now. Even though I'm actually being a slug and not exercising:o I'm still losing weight. I'm down to 262.6 which is good. I just looked at my Excel file and I've lost 95.8 lbs. since I started on this crazy journey. :carrot: Only 4.2 more lbs. and I'll have lost 100 lbs.--That's going to be my goal for next week. Meaning next Friday. That's my mini, mini goal. Wish me luck. I think I can actually do it though--I'm going to go back to the gym for at least an hour tomorrow and I started on my low carb diet again so...:crossed: I've been eating a lot of carbs lately--pasta, bread, potatoes, bread, crackers, bread...are we seeing a pattern here? ;) BrandNewMe--I'm glad you came out of your procedure okay. Congrats on the 302 :cb: it feels great, doesn't it? And you know that you'll lose three lbs. pretty quickly and then it's "2" land. I hope you're feeling better soon. Wyllen--you're so good to keep the exercise threads going. :cp: I'm doing the whole month of February if it kills me ;). Don't worry so much about a few :cookie: sometimes we have to have the "forbidden" foods. That's one of the reasons that I go off of my low carb diet once in a while. I need to keep my body used to eating them once in a while so that once I get to my goal weight I can still eat them once in a while and not worry. I know that for the rest of MY life I'll have to do low carb, but I'm also realistic enough to realize that there will be times when I'm going to eat cake, cookies, pasta and regular bread. Keep up the good work! You are truly an inspiration with your positive attitude. Kayley--I'm so happy that you're doing it NOW when you're still young. I wish that I had done it, but it's never too late. How do you like your Psychology classes? I loved them when I was in school. Keep up the good work. I love it when you post because you're usually so happy. Now, if we could just get you to get some sleep you'd be all set. ;) jjmoreta--:bravo: on the NSV and a great idea about the cup and straw. I'm glad that your new job is working out. Check out Wal-Mart for cups, by the way. I bought a HUGE one there that actually measures the water you drink and it has a straw with it. Keep it up girl!:) Catherine--I'm glad that things are starting to settle down for you. It'll take time, but you'll be okay. :) Your number one thing is that your hubby is so supportive of you. That's so sweet. I think it's cute that he wants to hold your hand to keep you safe. And girlfriend--you're getting a lot of exercise in just by all of that walking that you're now doing. I understand what you mean though--I don't feel like I'm exercising either unless I go to the gym. Good luck. Dog Pal--you made me  with your comment about crushing your husband like a bug. You're too funny. How did things go as far as that job goes? Did you get it? I know you said you probably wouldn't take it anyway, but it's such a morale booster when someone wants you, doesn't it. :D Lilion--it is funny how some diets work with some people, isn't it. I was doing WW a few years ago and I just couldn't make it work for me. I honestly think it's because I'm one of those carbohydrate addicts you hear about. It's not only the fact that you can't keep them out of your mouth ;) I think they do something to slow down your metabolism or something. Anyway, all I know is that low carb works for me. Although--I'm also seeing that I can still lose weight if I eat them in moderation. I guess that's the real key to losing weight--everything in moderation is okay--once you over do one thing it sends your body out of whack. Princess--good luck with your weigh in this week. I'm hoping that your off point Friday won't hurt you at all. Sarah--how's your dog doing? What did she have an operation for? If you posted it then I missed it--and what kind of dog dow you have? I have 3 very spoiled dachshunds who are my world. :) I'm glad you had a good weekend. It makes you feel so good about yourself when you're able to stay OP, doesn't it? Keep it up and have fun at work. Okay, I've got to go get my baby--Simone is at the bottom of the stairs whining for her Mama so...You all have a great day. I'll come by later to see how you're all doing. :grouphug: Thanks for being here--even though I'll go days without posting, I read here EVERY DAY! You are all a big part of why I'm able to keep on track. See you later. Vicki:) |
Hi girls I found you guys by accident and reconize Lilion :)& Garnetfairy :)
I was reading everyones posts and I think it was Kaylestar having trouble sleeping??? I am going through slight hormone changes (41 yr old) and have trouble sleeping so I take Benadryl occasionally(pink pills) they are non habit forming and in 20 mins I am sleeping. I can't do the no sleep thing. My doctor said they are fine and they work for me. Everyone sounds so upbeat!!! Luv that!! Okay I bought some South Beach bars so I would like to know if anyone has used them for snacks or grab n go??? I do notice that on LAWL they have me buying their bars & they do help. I would like to find a bar that I could replace the LAWL with. They charge like $16 a box (don't quote me on that) I would have to look at my paperwork. It's expensive. So I would like to see what bars you gals have tried that are high in protein and lower is carbs but with some nutritional value. I am asking for alot huh? Keep up the good work you gals are my inspiration daily!!!!! Ciao4now wendyinnm http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...2/135/192/.png |
I did it- I released another 1 1/2 pounds :goodscale so I earned another MiniGoal Step- I broke my goal of releasing 150 pounds into 10- 15 pound steps to be more managable. Only 3 more pounds to go and I'll have lost 10% of my starting weight- using my highest weight from early last year...then another 8 pounds and I get to say goodbye to the 300's. That will be such a major accomplishment- I haven't decided what I'm going to do to reward myself yet, but I have my eye on some exercise videos...
I also got things moved around enough so I can use my Pilates Performer (home Reformer)- I love working out on it, but it does take a lot of space when you're using. I can't wait to get started again with it, though its going to take a lot to build back up to were I was a few years ago with it. Hopefully I'll be able to get the rebounder attachment soon- it just looks like so much fun and since I can run & jump because of my knee, it would be a good, safe way to use some of those muscles. brandnewme- I hope everything goes okay with your biopsy result and that you're on the mend quickly now. wyllenn- I need to get over there & post my exercise goal- takes for reminding me. ANd those goodies like that are so hard to resist at conferances...they just taste soooooooo good, but are so calorie & fat laden too. I'm glad you were able to get some exercise in to make up for them- congrats on hitting 20%! :bravo: jjmoreta- I was just talking about taking measurements in my post yesterday or the day before. It is interesting how sometimes only an inch loss in one spot can make such a difference because of how the weight shifts, allowing the garment to hang differently. I think all of us have hit that point in our weight loss were we morn for the clothes we can no longer wear- they are our old friends, our comforters, and it hurts to say goodbye...but think of all the cute new clothes you can wear now. Congrats :cp: on your new job!- sounds like you're all set with the break room set up, as long as you find the non-'iceberg' section of the fridge :D Catherine- I have to ask how are you doing with the change in climate when it comes to clothing? I live in a colder climate- Michigan, and I have the hardest time when I travel to visit my family in the south because I don't have that much summery clothing. Kayle- I hope you can figure out how to get more sleep- its not fun trying to function on 4 hours worth. You mentioned exercising in the evening, could you be doing it too close to bed time? Gee, I might have to borrow your book on spreadsheets...I use to be able to do them years & years ago, but it been so long and things have changed too much for me to keep up. Lilion- You mentioned about the low carb diets- I know I can't do them because of my kidney situation. I don't think people always realize how hard eating too much protein can be, even on healthy kidneys. I've come to the conclusion that nothing is off limits- just do everything in moderation- carbs, protein, exercise, water, etc...if only we could stick to 'moderation', we'd be all set ;) Sarah- Give your puppy a hug for me  Its so hard to see them hurting and not being able to help- I went through that with Maxwell, my tuxedo cat. He grew back all his nails after his declaw so he ended up having a total of 3 declaw surgeries when he was a kitten...he drove all the vet staff crazy with his 'talking' though to get back at them- they had to take turns carrying him around to shut him up. Ammi- I wondered were you were the last day or so...I kept thinking I must have missed reading your post or something- silly me.:bubbles: |
Hello to the new people! I am pretty new here myself, but everyone has made me feel so welcome, its like I have been here for ages! I am sure you will love it here too :)
I did my walk yesterday, and did 2 miles before Ember's bus came. It felt good, and it really wasnt all that far (I didnt feel like I had just walked 2 miles!) But then supper time came and I just couldnt seem to get enough food. No matter how much I ate, I didnt feel satisfied! I wasnt looking for "I am stuffed" but I was hoping for "ok, I no longer feel hungry" and that just didnt come. I HATE days like that! Before bed it hit me though, its my TOM and that must be why I was so hungry. I always get REALLY hungry and gain tons of water weight for that week. I have joined the exercise thread and am hoping that helps with my accountability to actually do some exercise this month. I have also set a weigh loss goal for February. I found out yesterday that I might very well be getting my IW puppy in March! I thought the litter my friends just had were all sold, but low and behold, they arent! Keep your fingers crossed for me! I know I have a dog already, but the IW is my dream, and have been preparing for it for years. It couldnt come at a better time for me either, as I plan on doing obedience and showing him. I don't wanna look huge in the dog arena! I have found that the agility training I am doing with Sadie right now isn't quite as physical on my part as I thought it would be...but I am starting to jog around with her instead of just watching, so hopefully that will help with my exercise goals. Some time in February I might have to change my goal from a Feb one to a St. Patricks Day one, as I just got the list of parades we are set to march in, and there are 4! I would love to look better this year for them, especially if I have a new pup trotting with me!! Keep up the good work everyone! Your doing great! |

As for the "re-dedication," I sure did pick a rotten time to start (PMS). I am trying my best to stay below 2000 calories a day--assuming my metabolism is "normal," I should be able to lose at that amount. Yesterday, I ended up a little below 2100, so while it wasn't horrible, it wasn't great, either. I suppose it's better than many days lately, though, so I'll count it as a step in the right direction. As for today, the PMS munchies attacked hard-core this morning. I wanted something sweet AND something salty, so I had some yogurt-covered pretzels and a small bottle of strawberry milk. Not the best choice, but I did include it in my Fitday, and I cutsome other snacks out f my menu to help make up for it. I KNOW I can have a day at less than 2000 calories! Once I do it, it will be easier to do again the next day, and then the next, and the next...Just gotta get this ball rolling! :p Speaking of ball...I haven't even watched/done the DVD that came with my stability ball yet. I just like to play on it :D I sit on it in the den next to Jeff while he's at his computer and just bounce and roll around while I talk to him. He thinks it's funny, and I think it's fun, so while it's not "technically" exercise, at least it's movement above and beyond my norm of sitting my butt at my computer :^: I find it's GREAT for stretching. Despite being 280-something pounds, I have always been quite flexible, and normal stretches are sometimes too easy for me (like standing up and touching your toes--that's not even close to challenging for me!). Laying on my back on the ball with my head all the way down on the floor feels excellent! |
I decided not to go to the gym to weigh today since I weighed Sunday. I am getting the flu all over again. We just keep passing it around the house. My brother has it the worse right now and he just wont stay in his room with his germs!!
Well, I fooled around and went to bed early rather than doing WATP last night like I had planned. My brother decided to come in my room and lay on my bed and spread germs around. Urgh...The only way to get him to stay out of my room is to shut the door and then the cats open it again so it is a losing battle. I wish I had more privacy! I wish I could sympathis with everone on ther TOM but I am lucky: I have not had AF since I was 25 and had a complete hysterectomy. I take estrogen replacement therapy. It has been wonderful not having to have AF and not having to worry about getting pregnant! Kayley - you are more than welcome. It really does take up little space and when she does the forward and backward walking she says if you dont have room just walk in place. I work it in an area a little bit larger than a swiss ball, which is taking up the space right now. I have to put it on the bed to do the tapes. ha ha 2LosinIt - Welcome to the group, the more the merrier! There are other WW people here too. So dont feel alone. I need to lose about 158 pounds now so you are in good company! JuleeCeeS - Congratulations on surprising your cousin, I know that must have felt really good! voodoo1 - Thanks for the belated birthday! It was a pretty good one! Nancy - would you explain what your avatar is exactly. I cannot figure it out. It looks kind of like a fat deformed giraffe doing twisting toe touches to me.?? honiangel - does bran flakes cereal count as a carb? You all have me worried now about carbs. I am doing SB and it adds carbs back in during phase 2 but all I have added are bran flakes cereal and strawberries with no fat redi wip (sp?). I am so glad that your visit went so well, that is just super! 2LosinIt - good luck with the WW, hang in there, the weight will come off, there are a lot of success stories with WW. brandnewme - WOW 54 pounds gone, that is just wonderful, congratulations!! I will be praying for you on your biopsy!! Take care and get some rest! Wow 54 POUNDS!!! Kayley - So sorry to hear about your friend's trials and tribulations! But I am glad it is not you having the problems! Sounds like you have done really good with your weight loss, keep it up woman and you will make your goal!! wyllenn - The exercise thread sounds interesting as long as it does not involve a lot of math ha ha ha. You all go month to month with a clean slate or do the figures carry over to the next month?? NoLifeWithoutHorses - I think Kung Fu lessons sound just fine. My ex took tae kwan do (sp?) and my son took Karate Jutsu. They really enjoyed it and I think it gave my son a lot of self confidence. He certainly knows how to defend himself and others. jjmoreta - {{{{{Losing vibes on the way}}}}} I am so glad you found a job you like with employee friendly food policies. That is just great! Way to go on the shirt; but, dont let it hold you back on your weight loss...there are so many beautiful clothes out there waiting for us to fit into them you wont even miss that shirt. hippievanlady - I think your progress is just phenominal! It is so cool that your husband is eating along with you on your healthy plan! So you are not surrounded by temptation like I am. That has to be helpfull for you! I am sure you two look adorable holding hands! dogpal - thanks, I needed a laugh, "crush him like a bug" indeed. Too funny! princesspuffypants - I am proud of you for getting back OP so quickly! Hopefully it wont make such a big change on weigh in day...but dont let it encourage you to slip more often... wyllenn - Congratulations on your weight reduction!! 60 pounds and 20% body weight is just super! Way to Go!! Lilion - I am looking into switching to WW on my own too. I am on SB now, modified of course, I am doing pretty well with it but the points system looks more yummy. Still reading the literature right now though. Great news that your DH is doing the program with you!! That should make all the difference in the world!! sarahdafiregal - sorry to hear about your dog, I hope the surgery was totally successfull and that the pain will pass quickly. Glad to hear you made it thru the weekend on program!! Way to go! AmmiUK - good to see you post again, I missed reading your rainbow messages. dolfingirl2000 - Wow, I envy you, just a kiss away from 100# reduction! I know you must feel out-of-this-world great about it!!! I would be dancing in the street!! It is just fabulous, just fabulous. wendyinnm - Welcome to the thread!! I am glad you found us!! Sorry I cannot help with the bars, I dont do them. They dont agree with my dentures. christineu - Wow, Congratulations on your weight loss. You are really moving down the scale! I do not know about the exercise equipment you are talking about, I guess I will have to google it. I couldnt use one because I have no space. Glad to hear about the weight reduction! HeatherUSNWife - what is an IW dog?? Congrats on being able to get one soon. Sorry to hear about the TOM for everyone. jillybean - Glad to hear someone else has a swiss ball and has not watched the dvd. I thought I was the only one who did not know what to do with the thing other than play on it. That stretch sounds good, maybe I will try that sometime. Good Luck on getting under 2000 kcals per day!! |
Well I went to my WI this am and I did it! I have now lost 51.4 pounds and got my magnet from WW for it! A great way to start a new month. I am going to continue on with my walking and my strength training and get down to 299 so I can say goodbye to the 300's forever! I also went shopping on the weekend and bought pants 2 sizes smaller so I finally have something that fits, it feels so good!
I cannot believe how busy this thread is, I can hardly keep up with you all on here! It is so great to have you all to share with! Have a great day everyone! Stay Strong! |
I am sorry, I guess "IW" is foreign to most people. I am just so used to typing that because the only place I talk about it is with other owners!
An IW is an Irish Wolfhound. They are sight hounds, and they are the tallest breed. Average for a male is 36 inches at the shoulder :) I think the best thing will be looking small, no matter how big I am, next to a dog like that ! LOL I have some pictures http://majusiak.myphotoalbum.com/vie...umName=album14 ...these were taken in October. I would have had more but it was raining all day, and I didnt wanna ruin the camera :) Sheri - GREAT JOB! GRATS!! I know you feel great about that!!! :) |
Craving Buster
Craving Buster
It might sound amazing but this actually does work .. give it a fair try and youll be amazed at the results you can achieve with this technique .. one girl kicked a 4 litre a day coca cola habit using this technique. She kicked it within 15 minutes of starting to use this procedure. You can use this for any craving even cigarettes. Its also working very well for me and my bread/carbs addiction. Some of it might sound a bit strange but go with it and you will see amazing results. CRAVING BUSTER - Tapping into the Thin Within (This amazing technique was developed by Dr Roger Callahan, author of 'Tapping the Healer Within'.) If you are feeling a strong craving for a particular food right now and you want to reduce it immediately, just follow my instructions completely and your craving will vanish. Before you do this exercise read through all the steps first. What you are about to do involves tapping on certain acupuncture points on your body. The code for any craving is stored like a computer programme in your brain. By thinking about the food you are craving while tapping on each point in exactly the sequence I am about to describe, you re-set you brain's operating software to bypass your cravings so you can easily get on with your life. Focus on the food you are craving for a moment. Now, rate your craving on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being he lowest and 10 the highest. This is important, because in a moment we will find out how much you've reduced it. On a scale of 1 to 10, how strong is your craving? Now think about that food you have been craving and taking two fingers of either and tap about ten times firmly above one of your eyes. Now tap under the eye. Now, tap under your collarbone. Keep thinking about the food you were craving and tap under your armpit. Now place your other hand in front of you and tap on the back of it between the knuckles of your ring finger and your pinkie. Open your eyes - now close them. Keep tapping, open your eyes, and look down to the right and down to the left. Keep tapping and rotate your eyes round 360 degrees clockwise, and now 360 degrees anticlockwise. Still thinking about the food you were craving, hum the first few lines of 'Happy Birthday' out loud. Now once again hum the first few lines of 'Happy Birthday' out loud. Repeat the beginning of the sequence. Still thinking about the food you were craving, tap under each eye about ten times. Now, tap under your collarbone. Now tap under your armpit. Ok, let's stop and check - on a scale from 1 to 10, what number is your craving at now? If it hasn't completely gone yet, simply go back through the entire sequence again until it does. It may take as many as two or even three times before you have completely eliminated the craving, although most people report getting their craving down to a manageable level on their first or second try. You may even find that it is gone completely. Happy tapping..... |

I snuck in to read posts as a break and need to get back to work, but I had to respond. Yeah - I guess that is kind of what he looks like if you had never seen him before. I love the description. My avatar is a character from a series of online cartoons called Homestar Runner from the homestarrunner website. His name is the Cheat and he is the side-kick of a couple of brothers, Strong Bad and Strong Mad. I fell in love with the character and I wanted an avatar that reminded me that what I am doing is about a lifestyle change rather than being a plan I could cheat on, so hence NOT the Cheat. |

Hello,
Here I am back again. I made turkey burgers with chips for the family, and I had them with potato waffles. Much less points. I had a cinammon and raisin bagel for afters buttered with real butter, 15 grams. I had enough points for it, but it's amazing to think that that small amount of butter is the same points as a yogurt, or even a bread roll with a low fat cheese slice and turkey ham in it! Still it was a treat I really wanted, and I LOVED it. Wyllen - sorry I forgot to write to you earlier. Yes my head is definitely in the right place now. It took a while after starting back on my diet, but now I am back on track and it feels GOOD. I am actually looking forward to my weigh in next week! I am glad you liked your conference and that you mostly made good food choices while you were away. Walking back and fore from the hotel to the conference must have done you some good too. 60 lbs lost, that is amazing, you are doing so well. When did you start your diet? Vicki - WOW so close to 100 lbs lost, what a milestone that will be :carrot: :cheer: I'll be thrilled to reach 10 lbs lol, but 100, well I would be having a party. Well done :D Wendyinm - hello and :welcome2: We sure are seeing a lot of new people this month. I love your avatar, I have started doing a salsasize DVD and that doggy is doing one of my steps lol. Christine - Well done on that 1.5 lbs 'release' you are doing so brilliantly :cheer: I think rewarding yourself for reaching milestones is a brilliant idea. I think I will be putting money aside whenever I am treating myself to put towards the Gazelle Rider I want for my birthday in July. Heather - I hate those days when you just feel like eating all the time. My only tip for you would be to just keep busy. I find when I am chatting on here, or emailing, or writing on here the time flies and my mind is off food. I hope you get the IW puppy you want in March. I am glad somebody asked what IW meant because I didn't know either. I loved looking at the photos, wow what a huge dog. You must have a pretty big place to be able to have a dog that size. We have a tiny house, so if we do ever get a doggy it will be a Beagle :D Jill - yes it is crazy how fast these threads fill up and new ones start. It's great though, all of us here to support each other to lose weight. I do feel guilty when I can't answer everybody's posts, but I do always read each post even if I don't reply to them. You are really going in the right direction to getting back on track with your diet. You might not have had a day below 2000 yet, but you are getting there, and the closer you get to it the easier it will be. I was in the same boat this month. I started my diet on the 9th of January, but it took about 10 days before I could finally say I was right back on track both with sticking to my points and exercising. I am sure it won't take you that long!! Garnetfairy - I am so sorry that you feel like you are getting the flu again. I know all about germs going around and around. I have just got over my cold from back in November, and now Beth is smothering with one. I am going to be so annoyed if I end up getting it again. I feel your frustration about not having enough privacy, couldn't you get a lock on your door? What about the bed situation, have you been able to convince your dad to let you get rid of the double bed for a single one. At least then if you can't lock your door your brother won't be able to lie on the bed next to you :D Brandnewme - how are you feeling today, I hope you are getting over having the biopsy done. When will you have the results? Sheri - :cheer: congrats on losing more weight and getting your 50 lbs lost magnet from WW. I bet that will proudly be displayed on your fridge. Luan - so you had a bad day, I bet that with all your exercise you will still find you will have a loss on the scales when you weigh tomorrow. I look forward to coming on here and seeing what you have lost :D Sharon (neurotica) - are you ok? Haven't seen you posting for a while. Lori - haven't heard from you in a while either, I hope you are just keeping busy and that nothing is wrong. Catherine - doesn't it feel wonderful to write those words, 'my husband' :D I have been married for 4 years this year and I still love hearing myself as being Mrs, and I love it when I introduce Daren as my husband :D jjmoretta - sending good vibes your way for your WI. I hope you see a good loss. Even if you don't, you have that brilliant NSV of having that top fitting loosely. You should be so proud of yourself :cheer: It's nice to see those numbers drop on the scales but to me the NSV victories are far more important. I am glad your first day in your new job went well, and I love the sound of the staff room, very posh. Katie - where are you my friend, don't be put off by how many posts there are, still pop on and say hi when you can. Well I am going to watch some TV now. I might pop back before bed to make sure I am as caught up on posts before sleep as I can be. Take care all, Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Sheri....way to go!! I LOVE my magnets and my stars too. I keep the bookmarks on the side of my pantry and every week I write the date of my WI and the loss or gain so that every time I go into the kitchen I have to see it. I am striving for my 100 lb. magnet right now...still have a little way to go (about 13 lbs) but I want to know what happens after that. I don't want to stop getting magnets!
|
Jill - I loved the recent one with technology. It was too hilarious. And yes, I have bought all of their playsets and toys. :)
Well, I am off to the gym and hopefully I will be able to catch up with posts tonight, but my boyfriend has been a bit depressed lately so I can't ignore him and spend time on the computer if he is feeling down. He is having a big issue with his car needing serious repairs and fighting with the insurance company over who is going to pay for it. |
Nancy - I am sorry your boyfriend is feeling so down, and I hope that he will get the insurance people to agree to fund the repairs on his car. I understand that you need to spend time with him rather than be on here when he is feeling so low. Although this place is wonderful and we can get all the support and friendship we could ever want here, sometimes we have to remember the real world :D Ok so we miss replying to loads of posts, but it can't be helped. Take care,
Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |

We all have long journeys ahead of us to get to our ultimate goals, and we do motivate each other. It's an amazing group of people here :grouphug: I hope you post often and look forward to getting to know you.
Hugs, Ammi :D |
thanks for all the kind words :) really i think the key is that i just accecpted what i did, and moved forward :)
Ammi - have you tried Spray butter? or do they even have that as an option? its basically butter flavored oil but its 0 points. all the flavor, none of the guilt. Garnet - thanks for the kind words :) i havent been to the gym in a few days. im fighting a nasty cold. and its certainly winning. i was supposed to go see Ellen taped today, but i just couldnt get out of bed. |
Luan - I didn't even know they still filmed Ellen, what a shame you didn't get to go watch it being done. I am sorry you are feeling so unwell. Give the gym a guilt free break and concentrate on making yourself better.
Thanks for the tip on the spray butter, but to be honest I kept the points purely for the butter so there was no guilt involved at all. It was delicious!!! Hope you will feel better soon  Hugs, Ammi :dizzy: |
Hi everyone!
I see I'm going to have to take notes as I read so I can remember who to respond how to! :) I'm so excited for all of you making such great strides -- getting close to that 200 mark, or getting your magnet, or being down almost 100 --- so many great stories here... what an inspirational group!! I've been doing pretty well --- we actually went out last night with a group of friends (this has been pretty much a weekly thing in the past, although the group hasn't done so since before the holidays). The routine is a particular Japanese restaurant in town for sushi and wine.... and this group really does a lot of both! :) But rather than a bunch of alcohol, I stuck to water -- was very proud of myself.. missed the wine, but figured it just wasn't worth it. Had some sushi and a salad.... and, even though this is about the best dressing in the world...mayo based, peanut....I didn't go there, either. SHEW... made it! :) Does anyone else find they get just a bit obsessed with the scale? I'm really trying NOT to weigh myself every time I walk into the bathroom, but I find myself wanting too. But I think it's better for my psyche to not do that... Thanks again for the welcomes -- and for being such a great group! I can feel my self-consiousness about talking about my weight slipping away already.... |
2losinit - way to go on the excellent food and drink choices when you went out. I don't know if I could be so strong!!
Here's a tip for you re your obsession with the scales, if you have a battery take it out and give it to somebody to keep until weigh in day, or if they don't have a battery give the whole scales to somebody until then. I only weigh once a month, I hate weighing, but just in case I am tempted to, my hubby hides the battery lol. Other ladies here do way every day, sometimes more than once a day and they prefer that. It all depends on how it will effect you if you see a gain even when you are being a diet angel. Hugs, Ammi :grouphug: |
Good advice, Ammi... it's such a vicious circle, isn't it? Iwant to know... I don't want to know lol .... I'm officially weighing in once a week. I've gotten my sneak peaks to a minimum---but I still obsess about it. But--I had a day where I swear I was weighing myself every few hours (and I'm drinking SOOO much water, trust me, I'm in the bathroom very frequently lol) .. and I freaked out -- HOW CAN I HAVE GAINED A POUND IN 2 HOURS??? so.... trying for the "lesson learned--get your fat butt OFF that evil contraption" :)
Next step --- yanking out that battery -- good thought! :) |
