Oh my gosh, I haven't been on here for 2 days and I have missed so many post, and a whole thread too. I am sorry but there is no way I am going to be able to reply personally to everybody. I want to :welcome: 2loseinit - you have come to the right place for friendship and support. I love the people here, you really know that we all know how you feel, how hard the diet struggle can be etc. I hope you will post often. Doinvinnie - :welcome2: to you as well. I noticed it was your second post here. I hope you will post more and tell us about yourself. Tasha - thank you for your honesty, both over eating the icecream, and the awful thought you had about making yourself bring it back up. I am so glad you were sensible enough to realise that doing that isn't an answer. I say slap your man on the wrist for putting that temptation in your path anyway lol :D Catherine - you are a strong woman, I am sure it won't be long before you get everything sorted, and get back into a routine where you feel in control again :hug: Heather - it was me who asked what you hubby does in the Navy, thanks for the answer. I am having a good day and feel good about myself right now. Even though I'm actually being a slug and not exercising:o I'm still losing weight. I'm down to 262.6 which is good. I just looked at my Excel file and I've lost 95.8 lbs. since I started on this crazy journey. :carrot: Only 4.2 more lbs. and I'll have lost 100 lbs.--That's going to be my goal for next week. Meaning next Friday. That's my mini, mini goal. Wish me luck. I think I can actually do it though--I'm going to go back to the gym for at least an hour tomorrow and I started on my low carb diet again so...:crossed: I've been eating a lot of carbs lately--pasta, bread, potatoes, bread, crackers, bread...are we seeing a pattern here? ;) BrandNewMe--I'm glad you came out of your procedure okay. Congrats on the 302 :cb: it feels great, doesn't it? And you know that you'll lose three lbs. pretty quickly and then it's "2" land. I hope you're feeling better soon.:hug: Wyllen--you're so good to keep the exercise threads going. :cp: I'm doing the whole month of February if it kills me ;). Don't worry so much about a few :cookie: sometimes we have to have the "forbidden" foods. That's one of the reasons that I go off of my low carb diet once in a while. I need to keep my body used to eating them once in a while so that once I get to my goal weight I can still eat them once in a while and not worry. I know that for the rest of MY life I'll have to do low carb, but I'm also realistic enough to realize that there will be times when I'm going to eat cake, cookies, pasta and regular bread. Keep up the good work! You are truly an inspiration with your positive attitude. Kayley--I'm so happy that you're doing it NOW when you're still young. :hug: I wish that I had done it, but it's never too late. How do you like your Psychology classes? I loved them when I was in school. Keep up the good work. I love it when you post because you're usually so happy. Check out Wal-Mart for cups, by the way. I bought a HUGE one there that actually measures the water you drink and it has a straw with it. Keep it up girl!:) Catherine--I'm glad that things are starting to settle down for you. It'll take time, but you'll be okay. :) Your number one thing is that your hubby is so supportive of you. That's so sweet. I think it's cute that he wants to hold your hand to keep you safe. And girlfriend--you're getting a lot of exercise in just by all of that walking that you're now doing. I understand what you mean though--I don't feel like I'm exercising either unless I go to the gym. Good luck. Dog Pal--you made me :lol: with your comment about crushing your husband like a bug. You're too funny. How did things go as far as that job goes? Did you get it? I know you said you probably wouldn't take it anyway, but it's such a morale booster when someone wants you, doesn't it. :D Lilion--it is funny how some diets work with some people, isn't it. I was doing WW a few years ago and I just couldn't make it work for me. I honestly think it's because I'm one of those carbohydrate addicts you hear about. It's not only the fact that you can't keep them out of your mouth ;) I think they do something to slow down your metabolism or something. Anyway, all I know is that low carb works for me. Although--I'm also seeing that I can still lose weight if I eat them in moderation. I guess that's the real key to losing weight--everything in moderation is okay--once you over do one thing it sends your body out of whack. Princess--good luck with your weigh in this week. I'm hoping that your off point Friday won't hurt you at all. :hug: Sarah--how's your dog doing? What did she have an operation for? I was reading everyones posts and I think it was Kaylestar having trouble sleeping??? I am going through slight hormone changes (41 yr old) and have trouble sleeping so I take Benadryl occasionally(pink pills) they are non habit forming and in 20 mins I am sleeping. I can't do the no sleep thing. My doctor said they are fine and they work for me. Everyone sounds so upbeat!!! Luv that!! Okay I bought some South Beach bars so I would like to know if anyone has used them for snacks or grab n go??? I do notice that on LAWL they have me buying their bars & they do help. I would like to find a bar that I could replace the LAWL with. They charge like $16 a box (don't quote me on that) I would have to look at my paperwork. It's expensive. So I would like to see what bars you gals have tried that are high in protein and lower is carbs but with some nutritional value. I am asking for alot huh? I did it- I released another 1 1/2 pounds :goodscale so I earned another MiniGoal Step- I broke my goal of releasing 150 pounds into 10- 15 pound steps to be more managable. Only 3 more pounds to go and I'll have lost 10% of my starting weight- using my highest weight from early last year...then another 8 pounds and I get to say goodbye to the 300's. That will be such a major accomplishment- I haven't decided what I'm going to do to reward myself yet, but I have my eye on some exercise videos...
I also got things moved around enough so I can use my Pilates Performer (home Reformer)- I love working out on it, but it does take a lot of space when you're using. I can't wait to get started again with it, though its going to take a lot to build back up to were I was a few years ago with it. Hopefully I'll be able to get the rebounder attachment soon- it just looks like so much fun and since I can run & jump because of my knee, it would be a good, safe way to use some of those muscles. brandnewme- I hope everything goes okay with your biopsy result and that you're on the mend quickly now. :hug: wyllenn- I need to get over there & post my exercise goal- takes for reminding me. ANd those goodies like that are so hard to resist at conferances...they just taste soooooooo good, but are so calorie & fat laden too. I'm glad you were able to get some exercise in to make up for them- congrats on hitting 20%! :bravo: jjmoreta- I was just talking about taking measurements in my post yesterday or the day before. It is interesting how sometimes only an inch loss in one spot can make such a difference because of how the weight shifts, allowing the garment to hang differently. I think all of us have hit that point in our weight loss were we morn for the clothes we can no longer wear- they are our old friends, our comforters, and it hurts to say goodbye...but think of all the cute new clothes you can wear now. Congrats :cp: on your new job!- sounds like you're all set with the break room set up, as long as you find the non-'iceberg' section of the fridge :D Catherine- I have to ask how are you doing with the change in climate when it comes to clothing? I live in a colder climate- Michigan, and I have the hardest time when I travel to visit my family in the south because I don't have that much summery clothing. Kayle- I hope you can figure out how to get more sleep- its not fun trying to function on 4 hours worth. You mentioned exercising in the evening, could you be doing it too close to bed time? Gee, I might have to borrow your book on spreadsheets...I use to be able to do them years & years ago, but it been so long and things have changed too much for me to keep up. Lilion- You mentioned about the low carb diets- I know I can't do them because of my kidney situation. I don't think people always realize how hard eating too much protein can be, even on healthy kidneys. I've come to the conclusion that nothing is off limits- just do everything in moderation- carbs, protein, exercise, water, etc...if only we could stick to 'moderation', we'd be all set ;) Sarah- Give your puppy a hug for me :hug: Its so hard to see them hurting and not being able to help- I went through that with Maxwell, my tuxedo cat. He grew back all his nails after his declaw so he ended up having a total of 3 declaw surgeries when he was a kitten...he drove all the vet staff crazy with his 'talking' though to get back at them- they had to take turns carrying him around to shut him up. Ammi- I wondered were you were the last day or so...I kept thinking I must have missed reading your post or something- silly me.:bubbles: |
Hello to the new people! I am pretty new here myself, but everyone has made me feel so welcome, its like I have been here for ages! I am sure you will love it here too :)
I did my walk yesterday, and did 2 miles before Ember's bus came. It felt good, and it really wasnt all that far (I didnt feel like I had just walked 2 miles!) But then supper time came and I just couldnt seem to get enough food. No matter how much I ate, I didnt feel satisfied! I wasnt looking for "I am stuffed" but I was hoping for "ok, I no longer feel hungry" and that just didnt come. I HATE days like that! Before bed it hit me though, its my TOM and that must be why I was so hungry. I always get REALLY hungry and gain tons of water weight for that week. I have joined the exercise thread and am hoping that helps with my accountability to actually do some exercise this month. I have also set a weigh loss goal for February. I found out yesterday that I might very well be getting my IW puppy in March! I thought the litter my friends just had were all sold, but low and behold, they arent! Keep your fingers crossed for me! I know I have a dog already, but the IW is my dream, and have been preparing for it for years. It couldnt come at a better time for me either, as I plan on doing obedience and showing him. I don't wanna look huge in the dog arena! I have found that the agility training I am doing with Sadie right now isn't quite as physical on my part as I thought it would be...but I am starting to jog around with her instead of just watching, so hopefully that will help with my exercise goals. Some time in February I might have to change my goal from a Feb one to a St. Patricks Day one, as I just got the list of parades we are set to march in, and there are 4! I would love to look better this year for them, especially if I have a new pup trotting with me!! Keep up the good work everyone! Your doing great! |

As for the "re-dedication," I sure did pick a rotten time to start (PMS). I am trying my best to stay below 2000 calories a day--assuming my metabolism is "normal," I should be able to lose at that amount. Yesterday, I ended up a little below 2100, so while it wasn't horrible, it wasn't great, either. I suppose it's better than many days lately, though, so I'll count it as a step in the right direction. As for today, the PMS munchies attacked hard-core this morning. I wanted something sweet AND something salty, so I had some yogurt-covered pretzels and a small bottle of strawberry milk. Not the best choice, but I did include it in my Fitday, and I cutsome other snacks out f my menu to help make up for it. I KNOW I can have a day at less than 2000 calories! Once I do it, it will be easier to do again the next day, and then the next, and the next...Just gotta get this ball rolling! :p Speaking of ball...I haven't even watched/done the DVD that came with my stability ball yet. I just like to play on it :D I sit on it in the den next to Jeff while he's at his computer and just bounce and roll around while I talk to him. He thinks it's funny, and I think it's fun, so while it's not "technically" exercise, at least it's movement above and beyond my norm of sitting my butt at my computer :^: I find it's GREAT for stretching. Despite being 280-something pounds, I have always been quite flexible, and normal stretches are sometimes too easy for me (like standing up and touching your toes--that's not even close to challenging for me!). Laying on my back on the ball with my head all the way down on the floor feels excellent! |
I decided not to go to the gym to weigh today since I weighed Sunday. I am getting the flu all over again. We just keep passing it around the house. My brother has it the worse right now and he just wont stay in his room with his germs!!
Well, I fooled around and went to bed early rather than doing WATP last night like I had planned. My brother decided to come in my room and lay on my bed and spread germs around. Urgh...The only way to get him to stay out of my room is to shut the door and then the cats open it again so it is a losing battle. I wish I had more privacy! I wish I could sympathis with everone on ther TOM but I am lucky: I have not had AF since I was 25 and had a complete hysterectomy. I take estrogen replacement therapy. It has been wonderful not having to have AF and not having to worry about getting pregnant! Kayley - you are more than welcome. It really does take up little space and when she does the forward and backward walking she says if you dont have room just walk in place. I work it in an area a little bit larger than a swiss ball, which is taking up the space right now. I have to put it on the bed to do the tapes. ha ha 2LosinIt - Welcome to the group, the more the merrier! There are other WW people here too. So dont feel alone. I need to lose about 158 pounds now so you are in good company! Well I went to my WI this am and I did it! I have now lost 51.4 pounds and got my magnet from WW for it! A great way to start a new month. I am going to continue on with my walking and my strength training and get down to 299 so I can say goodbye to the 300's forever! I also went shopping on the weekend and bought pants 2 sizes smaller so I finally have something that fits, it feels so good!
I cannot believe how busy this thread is, I can hardly keep up with you all on here! It is so great to have you all to share with! Have a great day everyone! Stay Strong! |
I am sorry, I guess "IW" is foreign to most people. I am just so used to typing that because the only place I talk about it is with other owners!
An IW is an Irish Wolfhound. They are sight hounds, and they are the tallest breed. Average for a male is 36 inches at the shoulder :) I think the best thing will be looking small, no matter how big I am, next to a dog like that ! It might sound amazing but this actually does work .. give it a fair try and youll be amazed at the results you can achieve with this technique .. one girl kicked a 4 litre a day coca cola habit using this technique. She kicked it within 15 minutes of starting to use this procedure. You can use this for any craving even cigarettes. Its also working very well for me and my bread/carbs addiction. Some of it might sound a bit strange but go with it and you will see amazing results. CRAVING BUSTER - Tapping into the Thin Within (This amazing technique was developed by Dr Roger Callahan, author of 'Tapping the Healer Within'.) If you are feeling a strong craving for a particular food right now and you want to reduce it immediately, just follow my instructions completely and your craving will vanish. Before you do this exercise read through all the steps first. What you are about to do involves tapping on certain acupuncture points on your body. The code for any craving is stored like a computer programme in your brain. By thinking about the food you are craving while tapping on each point in exactly the sequence I am about to describe, you re-set you brain's operating software to bypass your cravings so you can easily get on with your life. Focus on the food you are craving for a moment. Now, rate your craving on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being he lowest and 10 the highest. This is important, because in a moment we will find out how much you've reduced it. On a scale of 1 to 10, how strong is your craving? Now think about that food you have been craving and taking two fingers of either and tap about ten times firmly above one of your eyes. Now tap under the eye. Now, tap under your collarbone. Keep thinking about the food you were craving and tap under your armpit. Now place your other hand in front of you and tap on the back of it between the knuckles of your ring finger and your pinkie. Open your eyes - now close them. Keep tapping, open your eyes, and look down to the right and down to the left. Keep tapping and rotate your eyes round 360 degrees clockwise, and now 360 degrees anticlockwise. Still thinking about the food you were craving, hum the first few lines of 'Happy Birthday' out loud. Now once again hum the first few lines of 'Happy Birthday' out loud. Repeat the beginning of the sequence. Still thinking about the food you were craving, tap under each eye about ten times. Now, tap under your collarbone. Now tap under your armpit. Ok, let's stop and check - on a scale from 1 to 10, what number is your craving at now? If it hasn't completely gone yet, simply go back through the entire sequence again until it does. It may take as many as two or even three times before you have completely eliminated the craving, although most people report getting their craving down to a manageable level on their first or second try. You may even find that it is gone completely. Happy tapping..... |

Here I am back again. I made turkey burgers with chips for the family, and I had them with potato waffles. Much less points. I had a cinammon and raisin bagel for afters buttered with real butter, 15 grams. I had enough points for it, but it's amazing to think that that small amount of butter is the same points as a yogurt, or even a bread roll with a low fat cheese slice and turkey ham in it! Still it was a treat I really wanted, and I LOVED it. Wyllen - sorry I forgot to write to you earlier. Yes my head is definitely in the right place now. It took a while after starting back on my diet, but now I am back on track and it feels GOOD. I am actually looking forward to my weigh in next week! I am glad you liked your conference and that you mostly made good food choices while you were away. Walking back and fore from the hotel to the conference must have done you some good too. 60 lbs lost, that is amazing, you are doing so well. When did you start your diet? You are really going in the right direction to getting back on track with your diet. You might not have had a day below 2000 yet, but you are getting there, and the closer you get to it the easier it will be. I was in the same boat this month. I started my diet on the 9th of January, but it took about 10 days before I could finally say I was right back on track both with sticking to my points and exercising. I have just got over my cold from back in November, and now Beth is smothering with one. I am going to be so annoyed if I end up getting it again. I am glad your first day in your new job went well, and I love the sound of the staff room, very posh. Sheri....way to go!! I LOVE my magnets and my stars too. I keep the bookmarks on the side of my pantry and every week I write the date of my WI and the loss or gain so that every time I go into the kitchen I have to see it. I am striving for my 100 lb. magnet right now...still have a little way to go (about 13 lbs) but I want to know what happens after that. I don't want to stop getting magnets!
