Thin: I so LOVE your signature!!!!! I don't know how many times I read the disclaimer and laugh!!!!

ageoldie 01-27-2004 09:24 PM

I've been reading everyones great post, but I have nothing to add. Yall (yeph I'm a true Texan) said it all. I've been reading every day, but really haven't had much to say, or much time to say it. But tonight I'm home so here goes

Lucky, I also post on the WLS forum and we've had a really interesting thread going about "invisibility" You might drop by there and read it.

Duckie; I think somewhere I have the prevention site that expalins the South Beach Diet bookmarked. If I can find it, I'll PM it to you.

Sandy your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. My dad died almost a year ago, and even thought we knew he would be in a better place, it was hard to let him go.

Jen, Enjoy your bike. I have one and when I decided to have my knee replacement surgery, I had to start riding it every day and I rode it every day for over a year. I'm not riding it now because I ride one at the health club. But it is good exercise.

Tomorrow is our 38th Wedding anniversary. Our marrage is the same age as the Super Bowl :cheer: We are going out to eat at a fancy resturant. I have my screening appointment for the research study Monday and it's been hard to keep focused on what I have been doing because I figure I'll be doing something different for the study. (Then if I'm completely honest, I have to admit that I think "Oh if I want to eat this or that, I'd better do it before Monday" 2Cute get back on your soapbox and tell me to get my act together!

qsilver 01-27-2004 10:22 PM

Hey everyone :)

Lots of good stuff to read again! I love when so many of us are up and moving serious weight. The enthusiasm is catching, and I am soooo ready to catch some of it for myself. :D a daycool. :s: :cheer:   :balloons: i love you. :hb: :grouphug: yyou. :moo:

Now, for any of you wondering about the mass of smilies up there, I walked away from the computer for a while to make dinner and answer some phone calls, and came back to all these. I'm guessing munchkin was having some fun!

Going to post this really fast cause it is making me laugh. No worries, I'll write a real post in a minute. :)

Andria

qsilver 01-27-2004 11:25 PM

Ok, I'm still laughing here. You know, for a child that isn't supposed to understand emotions and all that, she is the most perfect emotional barometer ever. I really needed something silly like those emoticons with "i love you" tucked in the middle. :)

Warning: Whining imminent!

I didn't make it through the day at the newest job without breaking down and crying at my desk. So far I have kept the tears at bay until I get in the car.

I honestly have what it takes to do this work. I'm not totally familiar with his style, but I'm picking up Quickbooks really fast. That isn't the issue at all. So far I've completed every task I've been given and met every deadline. Not too bad with four days under my belt. Instead of a thank you or something along those lines, I'm given recriminations and more deadlines. Today was him venting because I have done "something" to his check register. He couldn't understand that what the bank says he has in his account today isn't going to be the same as the check register because we wrote out a whole lot in checks. I finally found a report I can pull up and show him that I'm pretty dead on the money with his balance.

I can't walk away from this job. I also can't work for a man who leaves me with the continual feeling that the axe is about to drop and I'm going to be beneath it. I've only been there 4 days, and I've dealt with serious software issues and solved several problems he created for himself in other areas. I am willing to bend over backwards for anyone if there is a thank you involved. There aren't any here, and I need to find a safe way to explain to this man that I am not a dime a dozen construction worker (there are zillions in this area, not saying that as a reflection on construction folk) that can be tossed aside and replaced within hours. Guess I'd better get back to serious job listing watching. :(

Whining at an end!

I have some fun stuff to look forward to tomorrow evening. I'm getting together with one of my sisters and at least two SIL's to make food for a baby shower on Thursday and a wedding reception on Friday. I kind of decided to kill two birds with one stone and we're making the same desserts for each party. That isn't cheating too bad, is it? Ok, ask this busy chick if she really cares!

On diet and exercise front, I've been thinking about my eating habits when I'm under duress. I gobble down my food so quickly sometimes that I can't remember if I've eaten a particular item or not. And the more stressed I get, the less water I consume. The combination of the two leaves me with an unhappy stomach, and quite often the best way to soothe it is to eat something else. Recipe for disaster written up right there! To combat this, I've been concentrating on really chewing my food. It feels kind of weird at first, and it takes a long time to chew each bite 100 times, but I'm getting used to it. So far, the biggest benefit is that I'm actually getting full, and it is happening before that painful point, usually around half what I've been eating normally. Also, I didn't get heartburn once at work today, even though I was pegged on the stress o meter. I know it sounds like such a tiny thing, but baby steps are about all I can handle right now. I'll take a baby step forward instead of a tumble backwards any day of the week! :)

It is still early here, but I'm nodding off at the computer. Going to head to bed and pray that the sandman hits me with a double power dose tonight. :faint:

Andria... I think you need to come hop up on my lap in my rocking chair with me and lets snuggle. You remember my rocking chair don't you. Several have found comfort in it. Come on ... curl up on my lap and cover up with this warm fuzzy blanket. Ahhhh... that's better. This gentle rocking is soothing to the soul.
Close your eyes... relax ... clear your mind. This is your time... time to totally relax and put the real world away for awhile.

I wish I had a perfect solution for you ... but sadly I don't.
I am sure you will figure out what to do. You are a wise woman ... believe in yourself. {{{ HUGS }}}

I wish you lived closer to me. I would have you do my daughters wedding reception. That would be so awesome.

Barb.g ... I would also like to have that site for the SouthBeach Plan too.
I also want to wish you a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY !!!! 38 years is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations!!!

And now for :soap: Just remember... you asked for it !!! :drill:
WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU THINKING !!!!
You have done sooooo well so far. Do you REALLY want to have to lose that weight AGAIN???? NO YOU DON"T !!! Remember that saying....
If you keep doing the same thing... you will keep getting the same result
You have played that mind game with yourself before... and what did it get you?? You got to GAIN back the weight you worked so hard to lose.
If we are going to be successful.. then we have to CHANGE what we have done in the past. THIS IS THE TIME FOR SUCCESS !!! And to be successful we have to CHANGE our old behavior. Barb.. you are stronger today than before.. you are wiser than before... YOU CAN CHANGE your negative habits for POSITIVE behavior. YOU CAN ... and you WILL !!!! :drill: Now repeat after me......

I Barb ... am making the decision to change my behavior TODAY.
I am not the same person I used to be. I am wiser, and stronger and more dedicated than I have ever been before. I have learned from my mistakes of the past and I do not need to repeat those mistakes to learn from them again. I CHOOSE to follow my new food plan today. I CHOOSE to not wait another day to improve my life. I CHOOSE to be the best I can be TODAY.

Okay... I am off my box... now l need to repeat that speech to myself.

qsilver 01-28-2004 01:05 AM

Thank you, 2cute :) That does sound just like what I need.

:strong: <- Wish that was me.

OH MY GOSH I AM SUPER WIMP!!!

I came home after walking the kids to school, had my protein shake and a banana, put on my sweats and got on the new exercise bike. I wasn't on it even ONE MINUTE before there was an incredible burning :flame: in my thighs!! Oh my gosh! If I ever had muscles there before, they atrophied and died long ago and I must be starting from scratch!! I only managed to keep going for 10 agonizing :stress: minutes. Sad. Then I did some upper body strengthening with my weights. That was it for me. I feel like a pile of jello. So I guess I have A LOT of work to do on this body huh? :^:

I think I'm going to go window shopping for skinny clothes to keep me motivated AND out of the kitchen.

Talk at ya later,
Jen

katrinabgood 01-28-2004 09:04 AM

Jen...I think that is an excellent start! 10+ minutes of something beats nothing any ol' day of the week! Good for you, getting started! Remember...you have to prove the dopey salesman WRONG!

Lucky...I'm so glad to see you BACK! :lucky:

2cute: Check out southbeachdiet.com...lots of info there!

Barb: Happy Anniversary! :cp:

Andria...Sorry you're having such a hard time at work. I'm glad though that your little one can get a laugh out of you...not to mention a tug on the heartstrings...that was sweet!

Gotta run...I'm trying to decide if I should go out and shovel snow or go to sleep...seems like a no-brainer, really. see you later!

chequitagirl 01-28-2004 10:36 AM

good morning ladies. i hope everyone is doing great. weigh in went wonderful last night. down 7 lbs. since last week. i am so proud of myself. just a quick toot of my own horn, because i have a lot of work to do this morning so i'll be back later.

thinthinker 01-28-2004 10:44 AM

Mornin', ladies! Just had to peak in before heading out to work. Just a grocery store to do today, so no big deal.

I really want to get home and do something around this house. Pig :ink: sty does not truly describe it. I did manage to do the dishes yesterday. I'll tell ya, this semi-retirement thing I've been trying just is not working out. I had wanted to get so much done, and I'm doing nothing.

Lucky: Ok, what's so funny about the disclaimer??? It was suggested that some people look at moderator's like they know what they're talking about, even when they don't, so it might be appropriate if we put in a disclaimer. Gotta protect our A$$E$ given the wonderful climate we live in! :D

Barbg: Happy Anniversary, sweetie! Hope you and your honey have something wonderful planned to celebrate those 38 years! * Step away from the food. You don't need to pile in everything you think you're not going to eat after Monday. My Goodness! You could put on 10 pounds before Monday with that Stinkin' Thinkin'! DON'T DO IT TO YOURSELF!!!

Andria: Oh honey, I'm just amazed that a NEW boss is that obnoxious with a brand new employee. Have you known this guy for a long time, or something? I mean, geez, I would think that a boss with a new employee would tread a little lighter. I mean, what would stop you from walking right back out the door (well, I know why YOU wouldn't, but I guess that's why I wondered if he knows you). [[[hugs]]] to you. Just another good reason to get your catering/sauces business going. Look at Mrs. Fields. Those cookies are making her millions! * That is so sweet about your daughter. She's a very special little girl. You must be so proud that she is doing so much better than anyone ever expected.

2cute: I like the COMMITMENT statement that you devised for Barb. I wrote it out on a 3x5 card and I'm posting it on my computer screen. I think that is a wonderful affirmation that should be said over and over again every day until it finally sinks in. Thank you.

Jen: Good for you getting on that bike. 10 minutes, is 10 minutes more than you did yesterday. It's an improvement, it's a start. And Kat's right: "you have to prove the dopey salesman WRONG!" On those days when you can't bring yourself to do it for you, do it to spite HIM!!!

Audrey: WooHoo for you!! 7 pounds is OUTSTANDING!! I'll even do my happy dance for you! :D :) :D :) :D Have a wonderful time enjoying the high you must be flying on! Good for you!

Well girls, it's time to go to work. You all behave yourselves today. I'll talk to you later. Love  you bunches!

peekabooangel 01-28-2004 10:46 AM

Hey there my wonderful online friends, Thank you all for the condolences. We are all fairing well. There are still tears being shed here and there, but that is to be expected. Hubby is doing great, I think the hardest is yet to come though. The wake is friday night and the funeral Saturday and they are doing a graveside service too. I hope its warmer than it is now (8 degrees).

Okay, I just took a break and ran downstairs to the kitchen here at work and grabbed my yougart, I am trying a new one. Stonyfield Farm (Chocolate underground) Fat free of course, but there goes the first bite and awwww, it's not chocolaty at all. Humm, guess this gets crossed off the like list. Oh well, live and learn. Im pretty much a Bryers FF Vanilla girl anyway. Sometimes I stray and get strawberry.

Thin: I would gladly take you to see Toby with me, but I only got 2 tickets and hubby said he's not giving his up so easily.

Andria: I hope all works out with your new boss. Some men are so stupid, to think that what the bank says is what he thinks he has for money. I'm suprised he stayed in business this long. I wish you luck and I hope he learns really quick what an asset you are to him.

Barbg: Happy Anniversary to you and hubby. "Wow" 38 years. Thats great!!! Have a nice romantic supper with hubby at the fancy resturaunt.

Jen: I agree with Kat, 10 minutes is so much better than no minutes. I am the worst when it comes to exercise. I will put it off and put it off. I have been eyeing my moms stationary bike that she only uses as a coat rack. Then you did the arm weights, so you did a lot. Way to go.

Audrey: How did weigh in go? Hope it was good for you.

Susie: I try to eat the 31 points also, and usually I try to save my biggest lot for supper time, but somedays its just to hard to do and I end up having a soup or something for supper. If you like Potatoe Soup I suggest Thins recipe and it is so point friendly and very filling also. I also buy these english muffins made by "Country Kitchen" here that are "light" they are cinnamon raisin and they are only 1 pt, they are really really good with a little bit of spray butter and some more cinn. shaken on them. You are doing great.

Duckie: I feel for you with the cold weather. We havn't had this cold of weather for I don't know how many years. I swear when the temp hits 20F again it will be a heat wave here in Maine. Keep warm.

Kat: I hope the snow is not too too bad there. How many inches so far?

2cute: Have I told you lately how much you are inspiring me? Every post I read lately of yours has wisdom all through it and helps me each and every day. But one thing!!!!! I want my turn in the big comfy chair with the blanky and someone to rock me. :D Don't you just miss being a little one sometimes and having someone make all the hurts go away and making everything in your life okay.

Tina: I miss you so much, please come back and play. Before you know it race season will be on again. Feb. something is the first race I do believe? How is #20 doing on this break?

Paperdoll: Hello to you and thanks for your well wishes.

Joyce: Thank you also, I hope your day is going well.

I need to get back to work now, I have tons to do today, so catch you all later.

BarbPA 01-28-2004 10:46 AM

Good Morning Chickadees!
The exercise choice (well, not by choice) for the day was shoveling snow. I just spent the morning clearing the driveway and sidewalks. It's actually very nice and sunny out after a yucky storm the past few days and I didn't mind being out there working. :)

I ended up driving into work yesterday only to find out that the meeting I went in for was cancelled at the last minute. So, what did I do? I turned around and drove right back home. So I spent 2+ hours on the road when I could have just been warm at home. Oh Well! Food was good yesterday. I had a nice lite dinner of chicken and veggies! I am slowing feeling much better about myself.

2cute - THANK YOU for the pep talk! I needed it and I think alot of people probably benefited from your words! I will not gain this weight back! I am getting on the right track!

Barb.g - Happy Anniversary!
:encore:

Jen - Good job getting the bike! Loved your story about the sales guy! 10 minutes is a great start! Have fun shopping! Skinny Clothes --- oh, the thought of that makes me want to stay out of the kitchen! :^:

Andria - I loved that your daughter added emotions to your post! How sweet! I am sorry that this new job is off to such a rough start! Doesn't sound like the greatest guy to work with. Try to hang in there and hopefully things will look up, or you will find a better option! You're a tough gal - you can do it! Hugs!!!!!!!! :grouphug:

Kat - Hmmmmm.....sleep or snow shoveling! What a tough decision! Hope you had some good Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs.

Thin - Subway sounds yummy - have you tried the new wraps yet? They look good in the commercials. Hope you stayed warm running your errands and blowing snow! :)

Audrey - I hope you were happy with your weigh-in last night.
:bubbles:

Susie - Day 12 here? Good job girl!! Congrats on your weight loss last week!

Tonight is "date night" with DH - not sure what we are doing. I am thinking about a movie. I want to see "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton" -- and it is my choice for the date! :s: Mark my words....if we go to the movie I am taking a bottle of water with me .....NO Popcorn and NO soda!!!
:corn:

Ok, gotta get some work done! I hope you all have a great day!!!
Big hugs :grouphug: and Hello  to everyone I missed!

 ya!
Barb

peekabooangel 01-28-2004 10:54 AM

Just wanted to  to Thin and Barb. We were all three posting at the same time. What is that they say about great minds....

and to Audrey: GREAT JOB ON THE 7 LBS. DOWN

BarbPA 01-28-2004 10:54 AM

LOL Thin, Audrey & Sandy - Looks like great minds were thinking alike this morning and posting at the same time! :D

Audrey -- CONGRATS on the incredible loss this week!
:strong:

BarbPA 01-28-2004 10:57 AM

Sandy - Now you really have me laughing  Not only did we post at the same time, but we put a second post at the same time saying the same thing!
Too funny!

Have a great day!
:)

peekabooangel 01-28-2004 10:57 AM

OMG, BARB, THIS IS JUST TO FUNNY. WE KEEP POSTING TOGETHER

peekabooangel 01-28-2004 10:59 AM

Barb: This is just funnier and funnier. I am in my office all alone laughing to beat all, if anyone can hear me downstairs they probably think I have lost it up here.

Thanks for making me laugh this am. I needed this.

Duckie25 01-28-2004 11:08 AM

It's freezing here again, -48C it's to cold to go out, but the boss said unless it's a bazillion below freezing the office still runs. I work in the oilfield, thank God I don't half to go out doors.
Kat thanks for the info, and Barb please send me the info, that would be great.
Our furnace kept on going out last night, DF had to lite the pilot 3 times from 7pm to 9pm, called the landlord and they sent someone over around 9pm to see if they could fix it, thank goodness they found someone available and they were able to fix it. It was getting mighty cold in my house. Would have been popsicles this morning. DF didn't go to work cause some thing in the new car is froze up and making a squealing noise, so he got to stay home with our son. I hope my house isn't a disaster when I get home. They always seem to make such a big mess when left alone.
Made a big pot of chicken noodle soup last night, my first attempt to make soup from scratch and it turned out really good.
Tops was cancelled last night so didn't get to WI, I guess this will give me an extra week to make those numbers drop.
Well should get some work done, chow for now.

Syn 01-28-2004 11:36 AM

Hello all my wonderful chicklet friends, I know I have been awol again but it is just the way it is...*sighs*

I am just now catching up on all the last few days of posts....

Sure sounds like we are motivated and mean business about the weight loss....It truly is good for me when 2cute gets on her soap box lol...or Thin tells it like it is... We hear about one anothers joys and sorrows and laugh and cry together. For example I can't stay away for very long without getting a good nudge to get back here!! Makes me feel special! Nice to know others care about struggles to improve my health and lifestyle.. Welcome to the Newbies and for those that haven't been around don't forget us, you are missed..we all need each other...I have been impressed with some of the losses I have been reading about....Keep up the good work! Does the exercise bike really work? I just bought one with the handle bars that work your upper body too. How many minutes and how often to start?
I Need to run.....love to all.....

2cute2Bfat 01-28-2004 12:02 PM

Good morning all you lovely ladies. It seems it is cold everywhere .... but I think Duckie has us all beat. BRRrrrrrr

Jen.. I could not believe that salesman. I am in shock. What an idiot.
I am so proud of you for buying that bike. Just buying it knowing you had to haul it up 4 flights of stairs!!!! :yikes: That alone would have stopped me. And I am impressed you could ride it a whole 10 minutes. I am sure I could not. I got a kick out of reading your post... especially you being a "pile of jello". Keep up the great job. I am proud of you.

Kat... "no brainer" ... well I must have no brain... because I really don't know which you did. ??? LOL Being an insomniac I would have probably shoveled. LOL I hope you are smarter than me. ????? LOL
Thanks for the info on SBD.

Audrey... WOWZA !!!7lbs !!!!!!!! Didnn't you lose a lot last week too?
Congratulations !!!! ARe you doing that Fast Track thing??

Thin... I am glad you liked the affirmation I wrote for barb. Long long ago when I lost 80+lbs I read aloud positive affirmations daily... in fact a minimum of 3 times.. often MORE. I considered it like a homework assignment because I felt stupid doing it for my own good. So if I thought of it as a "requirement" instead of just doing something good for myself I could justify it.
Now doesn't that sound sad. I could not justify doing it because it was good for me. How sad. I just realized that is a sign of low self esteem... and I did not realize that at the time. Although... I have always thought highly of myself... I never felt "worthy" of good things for myself. I know that sounds contradictory... but it is true.

Sandy... you can hop on my lap anytime girl. {{HUGS}} My lap always has room for one more. ;)

BarbPA.. that sucks to drive into work on roads like that and then cancel the meeting. It must have been MEN making the decisions.. because women would have had enough common sense to cancel early enough to prevent people from having to drive. LOL
I hear that "WIn a Date" movie is pretty cute. I would love to go see it. Enjoy it for me too.

Duckie... how on earth do you manage in -31degrees. :yikes: I cannot imagine being that cold. I think I would seriously have to consider MOVING. How warm does it get there in the summer .... 1 above???

Syn... Good to see you girl. :D Like that old saying... "you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl" .. it is the same for being in here. You can go away for awhile.. but we will always be there with you in your heart. AND YOU ARE ALWAYS IN OURS.

OKay... time to run again. I took so much time repling I don't have time to talk now. LOL Hey... that's not funny. Oh well... I will reward myself for getting my house clean by coming back and sharing more later.

Love you all.

chequitagirl 01-28-2004 12:06 PM

thanks 2cute. and no i gained 1.5 lbs. last week. i am not really doing any set plan just lowered calories, watch fat, and carbs. i have also started going to the gym and working out along with my walking. we really have made a lifestyle change at my house.

Duckie25 01-28-2004 12:32 PM

Hey 2cute, your 2cute!!, we get +30C and up to +40C's in the summer, we are having record cold tempatures right now, this isn't normal, are winters are usually between
-15c to -35C, Weve had really mild winter for the last 10yrs or so. Just mother nature reminding us that she still kicking, and that we still live in Alberta.

PheonixRising 01-28-2004 12:59 PM

Hello All!!!

Sorry for my absence, yet again. I've been playing catch up since I got home. My husband tries, but things just aren't in the same place and I'm having difficulty finding things I need. :dizzy: Anyway, I'm happy to say that I stayed OP all day yesterday. :dancer: My husband is now being suprisingly supportive, and tonight we have agreed to go to the gym and work out together.

As for those that asked about my trip, my grandmother got struck with pneumonia suddenly in the middle of the night on about my 5th day of the visit, and then she spent about 5 days in the hospital. I wasn't able to see my dad or that side of the family hardley at all. But.... I had a lot of fun shopping. My mom is a power shopper and all the walking up and down the mall is probably what offset the fatty meals she made. I always thought that my mom was a pretty healthy cook, but this trip really opened my eyes. One day she made a sandwich with ham, avocado, mayo, and cream cheese on a croissant!!!! (All of them full fat of course. She doesn't do low fat.) I was shocked. I ate it of course, but the whole time I'm thinking this is why I was always a chubby kid who grew into a fat adult!

I did have fun visiting with my friend too. When I was with her we had all types of exotic foods. That was fun and not that horrible for the waist. We had Indian, Thai, and Greek. She and I also did a fair amount of shopping, and she introduced me to Ikea. (That was fun.) We also went to the San Francisco Zoo, and Marial loved that.

I will try to be better about posting ladies. Although to give you fair warning I start classes in March, and I'm going to be out of town at the very beginning of March. Hello  to all!!! Have a great OP day. I'm shooting for another myself, so far so good.

ageoldie 01-28-2004 05:36 PM

Instead of PM'ing anyone, I'lljust post this so anyone can check it out. It is the prevention Magazine's version of the SouthBeach diet. It explains things as good as the SouthBeach Diet site, and there is no charge for it.

Hi Girls - Just making a quick stop to check on everyone. We are on our way to the movies --- we (I) decided on "Win a Date...".

Guess what --- DH decided his dinner tonight is going to consist of Popcorn and Soda. Instead of caving in to that I made a chix breast and some veggies. I just ate and put a bottle of water in my purse for the movies! How is that for getting back on track!?!?!?!
:)

Have a great night! Talk to you later or tomorrow!

Stay Warm! :^:

MichelleK 01-28-2004 07:18 PM

Good evening everyone!!

I have been busy catching up on my school stuff and shoveling snow and the usual house stuff along with work. Except today! All but one of us in my department called out today because of the snow and ice we had last night!

Two things...I went to WI (Not Wisconsin) monday night and was a little disappointed with a .2 loss. I was saying to myself ok this is the part where I get discouraged...and the weigher said that was still good considering the big loss I had last week. And then I changed my thoughts to its a LOSS girlfriend...take it and RUN! So I did. I thought about the things I say to you all when you get discouraged and I took that to heart and remembered that when I lost the 97 lbs the first time I had big losses and LITTLE losses and it all added up to 97 lbs gone! So....with that said I did not binge, cry, throw a fit or go off program. I will just work at it again this week and go forward for another loss whether it be big or small! A loss is a loss!

Another thing....I interviewed for another job last night...I trudged out in the hail and sleet and made it on time and was there for an hour and it really went well and I would love to get the job! Its for an Aqua Rehab center and fitness center. Along with the other benefits comes a free membership to the fitness center. They have a HUGE olympic size swimming pool too! Its doing the same thing I am now...personal injury collections. Its mostly dealing with insurance adjusters to get them to PAY UP! So keep your fingers crossed!!

I'm sorry I won't be able to get to do individual replies tonight...but I am exhausted. I still have a few things to do for school like 4 papers to write and then I have 3 midterm exams next week. Can you believe that its halfway through my semester alread?

OK Gotta run...TTFN...Love you all! Michelle

Hi ladies,

Not much new tonight. My back hurt all day and for the life of me can't figure out why. It feels like a muscle in my rib area. Not like I did anything strenous this morning; guess I just moved wrong. DH is off on a school trip so its just me and the dog. I have a fire going and I'm going to watch The Apprentice while taping American Idol. Exciting, I know.

Barb.G - Happy Belated Anniversary!!

Andria - I'm so sorry to see that you're having job troubles. That is so hard to deal with. You may have to sit down and talk to the man. Don't let him make you crazy. Just keep doing your best and hang on to your self-esteem. Good job for exploring how you eat under stress. Thanks for sharing!! :)

2Cute - I like that you've become :drill:. You've got great insight and advice. Keep up all the great enthusiasm. Are you going to try SBD? I really like it. The first two weeks are a challenge but that way of eating has done wonders for DH's blood sugars and triglycerides.

Jen - Good grief - 4 floors! Feel great about 10 mintues because you tried. You will gain endurance if you keep at it. And if you really keep at it, cycling will give you great definition in your legs. :D

Audrey - :bravo: on that loss!!

Thin - I would never have guessed that you are semi-retired!

Barb - Have fun on date night! I am going to have to beg DH for something like that. Between church stuff and his trips, seems like we don't get any "couple" time. You mentioned the Subway wraps - I was NOT impressed. But that's me. I'm proud of you for making the chicken and veggies! You can do this!

Duckie - Good Lord that is cold. That soup sounds good. :hungry:

Syn - We've probably all tried to stay away at times but when it really comes down to it, we miss friends. I'm a cycle freak. I have two types of indoor cycles. One is the big fan driven with the arms and the other is the spinner. If you're just beginning, I would aim for 10 minutes and work up from there. But do what you can. The one with arms is great total body.

Amanda - Its good to see you back. What classes will you be taking? Your trip sounds good. Your friend has great tastes!

Michelle - :bravo: for your loss. Like you said...any loss is better than a gain. Good job! Study hard!

Kat - You've been posting great results over on the Challenge thread.

Hello to everyone!!

Good evening chicks!
I hope everyone is warm and cozy in there own little chicken coops. :chicken: {sorry, my mind has gone to mush, couldn't help myself}
:dizzy: People complain here if it gets lower than 60. Your reports are giving me some insight as to what it will be like to live in Idaho.

I've done GREAT with my points today. I have lots left over, so when dgd came home wanting "In n Out" hamburger instead of the chicken I had planned, i gave her the money and my order and let her go get em! They are delish, and limited to So Calif area, because it is a family owned business that wants only fresh food items used to make the burgers. Great to be able to make these choices, isn't it!
OOPS! she is baack! gotta go eat!! :D

well I must have no brain... because I really don't know which you did. ???
 Of course I slept! If I had insomnia, I probably would have shoveled! But, having just come in from a long night at work...I chose the ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZs!

Day 6 for me, still going strong. Friday is official weigh in day after one week on the Beach. It hit me like a bolt of lightning tonight that after 2 weeks of no carbs...I will be thrilled with the small amount I'll be able to have in Phase 2!! Baby steps.

Time to hit the shower and scurry off to work. See you all tomorrow.

Mornin' chickies! I'm here for my morning report. I feel like I have to be accountable to someone or I'll slack off, so thanks for bearing with my ramblings ;) .

EXERCISE: I made it 15 minutes on the bike this morning, and then my 4 year old wanted to do Tae Bo so we just did the 8 minute work out. I wasn't up for the half hour one. So that's done for today! :D

I'm trying desperately to shake the carb addiction. It's almost as bad as quitting smoking. Once you've started up again it's just as hard to quit the second time. I went without carbs for months after the surgery, but now that they've crept back up on me, I can't imagine not having them again. I've been working on Fitday.com to log all the foods that I have in the house to eat. I've realized that I really have no concept of what I eat unless I journal it. I hate journaling, but last time I did it, it was a real eye opener.
I've found myself plotting a way to eat my sweets. If I can stay away from carbs all day, I can have a Snickers Ice Cream Bar for a treat (only 18 carbs!!). You suppose that's a non-productive line of thinking???

Duckie: All I can say is BRRRR GIRL!!!

Michelle: Good luck on that job!! Sounds great! Swimming is one form of exercise I just love, but it's just my luck to live on one of the few bases with no pool. :(

Barb: WOW!! I'm impressed! I don't know if I could have passed up the popcorn.

Kat: Can't wait to see what your WI results are! I hope I have the will power to make it through the carb withdrawls :dizzy: .

gmalil: If there's anything you want to know about Idaho, you can ask me!! I lived there from the time I was four years old until my DH joined the army and we moved here to Germany last year. I'm from Boise, but I've been all over Idaho. Where are you going to be?

ageoldie: Thanks for posting that link! I wanted to know about the South Beach diet, but didn't want to pay to find out. I'm a cheapskate.

Pheonix: I went to an Ikea for the first time here in Germany. I don't know if it's the same there as it is here, but I literally got LOST in that store!! I couldn't find the exit for the longest time! Not to mention that I don't speak much German, got to the checkout with no Euros and they wouldn't take my Visa card. How embarrassing! :o Got that place pretty well figured out now though.

2Cute: You said you be back after cleaning the house. How messy is it woman??? Where are you??? LOL

determined to succeed: I never could watch American Idol while my husband was here. He couldn't stand it. I just like to watch because Simon can crack me up, but at the same time really make me mad. I hope that bike of mine gives me some definition in these cottage cheese legs! :o

Sandy: You and barb cracked me up with your post-a-thon!!

Hello to Syn, Tina, chequitagirl, and everyone else I didn't get to.

I have to get off my duff and take a shower. It's gonna be a looooong day. I have TONS of stuff to do and the kids are home because they declared it a snow day! What a bunch of wimps. We've got 3 inches on the ground tops! I was all ready to take them to school when my neighbor told me there was no school. I couldn't believe that they would cancel for that little snow, but I listened to the radio and sure enough, schools were closed. We're supposed to get another few inches today and tonight, so I'm probably doomed for tomorrow too AND they have monday off. WAAAHH!!! I love my kids, but I really love it when they go to school and I have some time to myself.

Anyhoo, I'm off!
Talk at ya later,
Jen

gmalil 01-29-2004 05:58 PM

Congrats, Michelle!!
And goodness gracious girl! what do you do in your 'spare time'! as if you have any!! 3 midterms!!! :o
I thought I would try the WW aerobic DVD that came with the Fast track, instead of wlaking today....well, I got part way into the warm up and decided that was more work than I was ready for!! "WHEW!!" so out the door I went for .4 mile...much easier, I will try the dvd again when I get more in shape.
